The story alternates between Missy’s perspective and that of JAMES COLTON, whose unabashed Dominance leaves her knees weak and her mind reeling! While daringly depicting the ‘mechanics’ of a Dominant/submissive relationship, MASTERED also delves into the rarely addressed psychology behind it. You will come to know and care about these 3-dimensional, multi-faceted characters. You will take a peek into the forbidden and oft-misunderstood world of BDSM.
And finally, you will learn the truth.
The erotic excitement reaches its apex again and again, leaving the reader panting in anticipation. It is kicked up another notch by an unpredictable sub-plot, rich in imminent danger and intrigue! This unique storyline will keep you whet and wanting – excited to turn the next page!
In the end, MASTERED will have you begging for more!

I tried... I really did. I really don't like to not finish books. It makes me very sad when this happens. Remember that this is my opinion and you should read the book for yourself and form you own opinion. The writing is fine, I just didn't connect with the story at all or the characters. The author did her job, it's my fault that I didn't connect. Let me try to explain what I mean.

First let me say that I do not live the BDSM lifestyle. I do read a lot about it and use some techniques in the bedroom but that's it. I'm not an expert on the topic so this is just my personal opinion on what I have read so far in this book. I might rant a little here, but I don't mean any disrespect. There are a ton of really good and positive reviews out there. Some of the things that didn't work for me are things that may work for others.

In my opinion BDSM is what you make it. There are no set rules of what is right and what is wrong. The only rule that there should be, is consent and communication. You need consent before you can make this work. Without consent you have nothing. You also need communication. From what I had read so far, I did not see any consent or communication.

Okay, here is a little bit of my rant...

I get that Missy is naturally submissive and doesn't understand that because she's never known what to call it. James is obviously Dominate as he points out.. a lot. The part that doesn't sit right with me is that Missy never consented to anything... EVER. Some of Missy's thoughts include... (paraphrasing) "A stranger who somehow wasn't a stranger. Cognitive disconnect? What is a dangerous situation and what isn't. Stranger danger?" I don't want to say this but, almost immediately Missy is giving off a TSTL vibe.

Missy goes to the grocery store and James is behind her and these two people DO NOT know each other. Then a little bit later Missy is at her car fumbling for her keys, James pops out of nowhere. Why is he there? My first thought is "I'm going to be murdered" and my survival instincts would kick in, I'd start gouging eyes and throat punching. Missy has that thought too, but she completely ignores instinct. Okay.. I get it. I can deal with that. There is a deeper connection between the two. 🙄 I'm on still on board.

Then James says he can smell her and gives her a pet name. I seriously thought to myself... "I didn't know this was a paranormal romance. Is he wolf or vampire?" Here is a quote.

Most enchanting, however, was the scent of your submission as you turned towards me, your Master."

First, please do not assume, even if you can 'smell my submission', that you are my Master. That is something you earn and is not easily given. Here is another quote.

"Do not speak. There will be time for that later. As well, I do not recall giving you permission to do so?"

They are still standing in the parking lot at this point. How can James give Missy permission if they haven't talked. James seems to be the only one talking and assuming. But okay... maybe, just maybe their connection is so deep that he can read her even without knowing her. 😒

"Now please open your mouth, my dear,"

Ummm, no... don't do it! This has to be where she draws the line. Right? Nope. He sticks three of his fingers in her mouth! Are you kidding me right now?!?!

Well, that has me thinking. Where have his hands been? Did he wash them? For all I know this is a homeless man who just got done wiping his ass with that hand. I know that's not the case, but again... Missy does not know him! But, okay, I get it... 'their connection is deeper'. On a soul to soul level. I'm a little grossed out, but I can still hang...

James then tells Missy to come to his house by a certain time and tells her not to be late. Missy is having the right thoughts, but she is acting in a completely different way. If you think this is crazy, then fine. Don't let him put his fingers in your mouth and don't go over to his house. If he is that interested, then he will come and find you. Make him work for it.

Okay, I'm going to skip ahead a little bit. Missy is at his house and she is late. James is irrationally upset and when she knocks on the door, he grabs her by the throat. At this point I would for sure be telling myself that I made a huge mistake and now I'm going to die. This man is a psycho and I have CLEARLY misjudged this situation. This would be totally different if they had known each other and she would know what the punishment is for showing up late. But they haven't talked... at all .

"Missy barley managed to uncurl her fingers from the knocker before the wooden door flew open. His hand was a blur as it shot out, securing itself firmly around her throat..."

Ok... now remember. These two have not talked about anything... ever. He surprised her in a parking lot, told her to come to his house and she complied. They have not negotiated anything. But maybe if I keep reading they will secretly know each other and this is all just some form of role play. Maybe?

You shall call me sir from now on, as is your place, whore! Perhaps one day you shall earn the right to call me Master. We shall have to see about that, won't we?"

UGGG! Well, first of all, you ' SIR ' need to earn the right for me to call you Sir. * FACE MEET PALM * WTF? Im not sure how much more I can take of this. 🤬
Since Missy was 13 minutes late, she gets 13 swats on the ass. Ok, ONLY if you know how to spank me and what my limits are. Does he? Nope! You know why? Because he doesn't talk to her or ask her questions. He just orders her around. Then she is required to climb on top of the ironing board with a boob dangling on each side, and position herself for a spanking? 🙄

By the way... the word oozing is not sexy. Just my opinion.

"The little panties had long ago given up trying to contain the liquid evidence of her need"

This is where this quote should end... but it continues to say...

"There was naught to be done as it leaked profusely, oozing down her thighs."

Finally the one that made me tap out. Missy has to use the restroom. She needs to pee. But its not that simple. Nope. Missy is throwing out hints about having to pee and would like to do so in private. Clearly this douche is picking up on it. But you know what? He wants to watch her because she isn't allowed any privacy? Of course he doesn't tell her this ahead of time and thinks she should just know these things. Plus, I didn't realize that this turned into a fucking kidnapping and she couldn't be trusted to pee alone. Maybe its because she is TSTL and she could possibly drown herself in the toilet? Now that makes sense. 🤔

"Devoid of secrets and privacy, little one. Have you forgotten so soon?"

"It embraced, warmed, and calmed her. A moment ago the notion of glancing at him was torturous. Now, she couldn't bear to look away. Master... When he began to hum gently, the dam broke. Her bladder loosed, splashing forcefully into the toilet. Missy whimpered for the duration. Yet, if she were honest, she'd admit that what she desired most in the world was for James to kiss her!"

But when Missy reaches for the toilet paper....

"You may wipe today my dear, but in the future, I suggest you not assume it to be you're right."

Fuck you! Im in full rage mode now. Do you want to stick you're face and cock in a nasty and unclean pussy and asshole? You like some of that milky cottage cheese discharge yeast infections or UTI's? I doubt it. So you better let me fucking wipe myself. Im about to slap the eyebrows off this mother fucker Im so mad!

Okay, I did not intend for my rant to go on like this. But I did feel it necessary to disclose the problems that I personally had with the portion of the book that I did read. The only thing I did like about this was the cover and I thought the blurb was good. This just wasn't my cuppa and I could not connect with the characters. There is lots of sex, but because I had problems connecting with Missy and what's his name... and a ton of other issues with the content, I couldn't get into it so it wasn't sexy to me. Again, this is just my opinion about what I read of it. I would try to read this author again if she comes out with something new. But this book was not for me. There are a lot of good reviews on this book, so I would encourage you to try it for yourself and form your opinion. You may love this. :)

WTF did I just read? I got to about 40 something percent of this book and then just skimmed the rest. There was just so much wrong with this book and I'm sorry I bought it.

First, there was so much internal dialogue that I skimmed a majority of it. The whole point of internal thoughts is to make me more aware of the behavior of said person having these thoughts. But page after page after page of it...my god.

Secondly, nobody talks like that. Internally or not, nobody talks like that.

Thirdly, do we have to put an exclamation point in the middle of the paragraph to make a point? No, if the story is well written the reader can pick up what's critical to the story. None of these exclamations were important.

And I don't care what kind of relationship you're in, to constantly be called a whore and a slut just because? And this wasn't playful name calling, this was crude.

And we get it, he's the dom, she's the submissive. We don't need those words on every page.

I will probably not read more from this author.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this one. I'm not a prude by any means but this book was not my cup of tea

Mastered was my first venture into the world of BDSM. This was an excellent book for an introduction into this lifestyle. The author does an amazing job showing the reader the ins and outs of being a Dominate/submissive.

Missy Weaver is a true submissive. Having been in an abusive relationship she is now divorced and supporting herself and a teenage son. When she encounters Dominate James Colton at a grocery store, she immediately went into submissive mode. Giving her his business card and summons her to his house that evening....Missy is torn as to what to do. Part of her wants to forget the man she encountered. The other part feels drawn to him...like a moth is drawn to the light. When an unexpected discovery made by Missy causes her to flee from her master, the after effects of their parting devastates them both. They are two halves of a whole and were meant to be together. Both very comfortable in their "odd" relationship. This truly was a love story. James and Missy complete each other and in the end discover they are in love and can't think of living without the other.

I applaud K.L. Silver on her first novel and educating us all and showing that despite this lifestyle being "different". These characters were people just like the rest of us, looking from the outside into another world, hoping to make us all tolerant of those who vary from the norm in our society.

Oh my goodness this book is HOT!!! I'm sure it's evident by the title but I'll just say that this book has some very explicit scenes that all readers my not be comfortable with. While the book centers around the Dom/sub perspective it also has a good amount of back story that endears the reader to the characters. I am very interested to see what happens in the next book.

Mastered by K.L Silver - A Smoking Hot Read!

WOW!!! What can I say that the author has not already said in her description that gives it to you straight! This book was amazing to read!! It definitely left me wanting for more! This amazing author had me hooked from the first page! Not being greatly familiar with Doms and Subs, I wasn't sure what to expect but at least expected to go on a journey with James and Missy. Boy, was I wrong!! It was no journey, it was an epiphany!! It took me several days to finish this book and that's clearly not because I did not want to read it in one setting, I desperately did! It was because I had to force myself to take breaks, turning the fan on high and aimed at me while reading, I often feared I would expire from hot flashes of epic proportions!!! This book was just that HOT, HOT, HOT!!!

That being said, I impatiently could not wait to read the next section of the book from where I had to leave off each time I forced myself to put it down to take a break. I even dreamed of James and Missy and their relationship and that is something folks, I have never done before! This book drew me in that incredibly much, so much so in fact, that at times, I wanted to steal James from Missy myself!

For being a first time novel, I absolutely loved it! I just cannot say that enough! The characters were so realistic and complex that you cannot help but, want to be in their world with them. The plot was fascinating and draws you right in with its realistic nature and the amazing writing and choice of words used by the author are just outstanding!

Forgive me folks here if for the first time in my life, adequate words are escaping me on my review of this life altering and mind shattering book, I am still reeling not only due to the hotness factor but, due to the fact that I did not want it to end. I kept checking my table of contents to make sure I really had reached the very last page and yes, I DEFINITELY WANT MORE, SO MUCH MORE OF JAMES AND MISSY!!! I will impatiently wait to see what this amazing author brings next in their story and where she takes it. Will Missy earn her collar back or will she fail James in some way eliciting some delicious punishment? Sighs, I will have to sit on my hands and do my best to be patient to find out more and if not, who knows, maybe James Colton will show up at my door step .......sigh, I can only dream.... If you have not read this uber hot and amazing book yet, well get off your hinny and get it now!! This is one book that will definite leave you begging for so much more by the end!!!

First off I have to say that Mastered is unlike any book I've ever read. Ms Silver went in a completely different direction then most author usually go. Mastered gives you a first hand account of what each character is thinking, feeling and their internal struggles.

K.L. takes us on a journey of Missy, who is a single mom who didn't know what she was missing until she crashes into James. James who is a DOM and widow, of several years, who still can't get over the death of his wife. Upon their first date Missy discovers that James brings out a submissive side in her that she never really knew she had but has been craving all her life. For James Missy brings back his need to dominant.

Can these 2 help make each other whole and give each out what they've been missing?

I was given an Arc of this read in return for an honest review

I personally thought that Mastered by K.L Silver was a beautifully crafted read. For those of you unfamiliar with the world of BDSM it offers you a descriptive outline of each role...that of a Dom/Sub. Now before starting this novel I was warned that I was in for a kinky ride. They were not kidding! Nonetheless it was a ride I thoroughly enjoyed.

The first chance meeting between the two main characters James and Missy had me reading in disbelief..i'm pretty sure there may have been a "WTH" in there. Lol It was at this point where I knew this read would have me flipping through its pages quickly!

The relationship between the two main characters was anything but flawless which brought a realness to it all. James has a past in which he never cared to divulge to Missy. A misunderstanding that could possibly ruin something that could be quite incredible.

Mastered though 80 chapters long is a fast paced, beautifully written hot sexy romance in the world of BDSM. I enjoyed it immensely and would recommend this book to everyone and anyone.

Cant Stop Reading gives Mastered by K.L Silver 4 STARS ****

Well, what can say... I've read a couple of eroticas, even fifty shades, but this one however has been by far the best. i Was hooked from the word go and was everything an erotica should be. it even had me wondering about my own life ha. Not knowing to much about bdsm i didn't quite know what to expect. i learnt quite a bit about the lifestyle by reading this and so glad I read it as I really want to go and read more. it was steamy, hot and sometimes scary and parts wanted me to cringe. but the intensity of the characters and their soul mate love was something to be desired parts of me wanted to be there. I didn't want to finish the book I wished it was never ending. Will be looking out for this author and I so hope there's a follow on. xx

Ever thought about BDSM ?

This book is unlike any other BDSM i have ever read. It explains the mindset, the emotions of a Dom/Sub relationship. A Submissive is not condescending, rather a treasured and loved possession to her master. The relationship was beautifully explained by the author and gives you a new perspective in the forbidden and misunderstood world of BDSM.

BOOKLATTE Mastered cover

“The submissive is by no means the lesser partner in the relationship, but a full and contributing half. In their own submissive way and from their proper submissive place, of course”

Mastered is the journey of Missy Weaver finding and accepting her true self despite her self-denial for a very long time. Missy is a single mother to teenage Christopher. Missy had always dreamt and thought of being a submissive but never accepted it out loud. She denied herself of it because she feared the notions of the world around her and the judgements of people around her. She was going through the motions of life without really living her life, Until one day in a grocery store she meets the match of her lost soul, her master James Colton.(Grocery store, who would have thought !!!!)

Photo 04-10-15, 11 11 54 PM

James Colton is a Dom and he knows it. After losing his wife/sub few years back, James was shattered and blamed himself for not being able to save his beloved. He is not over her and lived in self imposed celibacy until that day at grocery store.

Photo 04-10-15, 10 13 52 PM

“While she had no idea who she was, she knew instinctively WHAT he was”
James and Missy when met, had an undeniable pull towards each other. Without knowing the mysterious stranger Missy had the urge to submit herself to him. She discovers how strongly James brought the submissive side of her which she had been craving all her life. Against her better judgment she goes to James. So begins Missy’s first foray into a Dom/sub relationship. And she can’t believe how happy and free she feels.

Then one day she stumbles upon James past and without asking him for it, she flees leaving his collar behind...

Will they find their way back to each other?
Will THE MASTER take her back? Read Mastered to find out !!     http://viewbook.at/GETMASTERED

Mastered is Erotic romance. What I like is how descriptively the characters and their feeling were written. For me this book is 4 Stars.

Missy is a single mum of a teenaged son, who will be soon leaving for college. Her marriage ended even before it really began. What Missy didn’t realize beforehand was that she had married a violent alcoholic. Missys days now consist of a full time 9ish to 5ish job, which she is rarely punctual for. The overtime she constantly works, helps keep their head just above water. And what little she has, she generally gives to her ex. She’s learnt that it’s easier to give him money here and there, than to deal with the consequences.

Pretty normal life?

So Missy thought, until the night she first lays eyes on James, in the supermarket check out queue. That one look has Missy feeling things she hasn’t felt in a long time. Imagine her surprise when James hands her a business card, telling her, not asking, that she is to meet him at his address at precisely 8pm.

Against all her better judgements, she goes to James, all the way there asking herself how she can be so irrational? She knows nothing about the man, but there was definitely something between them. Of course she’s late, and for this she is punished.

So begins Missys first foray into a Dom/sub relationship. And she can’t believe how happy and free she feels.

When James turns up the next day at her place of work, they spend the afternoon performing lude sexual acts in the change rooms, something Missy would never dreamt of doing. When James later takes her out for dinner, the games continue and Missy is helpless to stop him or them. Then again she doesn’t really want to. It’s not long until

James claims her and collars her with an exquisite collar. When she finds herself opening doors in his house looking for the bathroom, she is faced with photos and a shrine of sorts to another woman. Without waiting for James to explain, she leaves her collar at the front door and flees.

How can she compete with such a beautiful woman?

Is it all over between James and Missy?

How can each of them tell the other that they are miserable and lonely without the other?

When Missys ex turns up and violently threatens her, will James save the day and finally win back the woman he loves?

An extremely enjoyable read, that ends beautifully, leading us Into the second book, which I can’t wait to start. 4.5/5. A must read

Do you want to be Mastered!!!!

Missy was your typical single Mom getting by in life just her and her teenage son. Till one encounter with a striking man in a grocery line. He took her breathe away literary. From the moment she looks into his eye and his soft spoken works like ( little one ) her life is never the same. James woke up what she always knew we wanted but it was to taboo to talk of. She didn't want vanilla sex, she always dreamed of being tied up and dominated. James was the man to show her what she always craved for. James always lived the lifestyle of Dom / Sub. When he lost his love of his life to a sudden death, he closes off that part of himself . Till Missy she kick starts his heart and urge to have that side of him back. Can Missy give up control over her life ( world as she has come to know ) for what she has always craved for, can James find what has been missing for so long and be a happy man. Can two people from two different life styles make the ultimate connection and bring two halves together to make it a Whole. Get Mastered Now. I recommend this book.

BDSM....questions abound about this way of life or maybe just a wild night. Mastered takes you into the 24/7 side of Dom/Sub. K.L. Silver took me to the edge and continued to wind down the road even farther. If you are a new to the B/D lifestyle this book will teach you more about the total control the dominant partner has over the submissive partner. If you understand the dynamics, you will love how you are shown from the word, how a submissive personality responds so directly to her yang. You'll learn more about how such a relationship can work and who is ultimately in control.
The writing was great and kept the story flowing extremely well....I stayed up to finish this and wasn't disappointed. Remember this is consensual adults while reading or you may find yourself not liking where this story goes. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something a bit different in the BDSM realm!

This is a masterpiece of epic proportions! I sit in complete and utter awe! To be totally honest this book blew me away. The writer set me free and allowed me to not only understand the main character but myself as well. Missy is a mother to a teenage son, she is divorced and live a "vanilla" life. When she meets James, all that changes. James is a widower that knows the instant he sees Missy that she is a submissive and that she belongs to him. James is making Missy realize that she can have the BDSM lifestyle she has always craved and that there is nothing wrong with how she feels. The journey of sexual self discovery is full of twists and turns. From the very first page the writer pulls you in and you can not let go until the last page. This book is at the top of my best books of all time! I can't wait to read the next book in the series and continue the journey with James and Missy! I bow to you K.L. Silver! This is A MUST READ series!

K.L. Silver has done it again! Mastered is another compelling well-written domination/submission read.

If you’ve ever been curious about this lifestyle or have a penchant for a good D/S story, step inside the life of Missy and James for an eye opening experience.

Their lives are changed by a fateful meeting in an unexpected place. Their lifestyles and desires are completely different than most people. The connection between them is deep, very deep. How could they make this work? Why would they make this work? Do they want to make this work? Their story will pull you in and have you on your knees begging for more.

After reading the first three books (Deep Within Her, Metamorphosis and Take Me) I wondered what would be done as a follow-up – Mastered is brilliant.

4 and 1/2 stars
This well-written book dives deep into the minds and emotions of a Dominant and a submissive. I've read quite a few D/s books, but don't remember anyone more "purely" Dominant than James, and certainly no one more "purely" submissive than Missy. Their characters are very well developed, and the back stories really made me feel like I was getting to know these two people.
A couple of the scenes were a bit difficult for me - I'm used to graphic, but some of the fellatio scenes, although no doubt realistic, were quite rough.
I do recommend this book to you IF you are interested in true Dominance/submission. I know I will be looking for more of K.L. Silver's works.

If you loved Fifty Shades of Grey you will love this equally! Loved the way James Colton found and pursued Missy Weaver! This D/s relationship was exciting and we'll written! Loved how James handled Missy's drunk and evil ex-husband! A well written story of a D/s relationship and how society looks down on it. But Missy and James makes it work for them both. It is hard to live in a vanilla world when you crave and need the D/s world! Thank you K.L. Silver. Looking forward to reading Trussed next!

i loved the book it was way way differ thani am used to reading KL Silver has a differ writting sty than most but i enjoyed reading the book Meet James Colton, an attractive middle age rich man, with a very different lifestyle, and a sad past.
When James meets Missy at their local grocery store he knew she was the person he had been looking for, and he will not stop until he makes her his.
Will Missy agree to change her lifestyle for James, or will she simply ignored his request?
now off to read the next book

This book was amazingly erotic! I adore books featuring BDSM and I felt this was really accurate if not a bit scary in some spots. The author sure knew what she was doing when writing Mastered. Its a very kinky story that will leave you panting for more at the same time will leave you utterly satisfied and truly amazed with the BDSM world, including words that instead of being degrading, are indeed endearments and should be treasured. I am looking forward to more by this author.

I just got this book the other day and I immediately loved it. I loved both characters immensely. They fit each other so well. I do admit that some scenes had me cringing but it held me riveted. I would have been mortified if this happened to me but the scenes were written so well that I just couldn't stop reading. I'm so glad I bought this book and I can't wait to read more by this author.

I really enjoyed this book! The dynamic between Missy and James was intense and kept me turning the pages until the end. It was fun to read the story from each of their perspectives, and it gave quite some insight. Their relationship has some bumps along the road but the journey is so worth it. Adored the ending!

Bloody brilliant. This story had me hooked from page one. The passion and raw emotion between the characters literally poured off the page. I was enthralled. Totally and utterly. an author to watch out for.

This book is not like the typical Dom/Sub books I have read before. I can honestly say I have not read anything like it. James and Missy play their parts perfectly, James is hard core and Missy enjoys a good hard spanking. Thank you KL Silver for sharing James & Missy to the Dom/Sub readers.

This was my 1st KL Silver book and I truly enjoyed it!! That being said I also truly don't understand the whole dom/sub relationship in general. It is not for me but I do enjoy reading about it!! Looking forward to the next book!!

Wow, what a ride.
Ms Silver wasn't kidding when she said I'd be in for a bumpy one.

Before I begin my review, I just want to say a huge thank you to Ms Silver for sending this (and a few other novels) over to me after helping her with a book cover problem. It was a more than generous gift and I'm happy to give my thanks with this review. And no I will not big it up just because I got the books for free and the author is a friend, I say it like it is, with a sweet smile and manners intact of course.

So Mastered. Hmm *flushes*. Well, it sure was masterful. See what I did there?

This is my first novel in the BDSM/Dom & Sub category. Closest I've gotten to it is Fifty Shades (the movie, not the book/s--and after the movie, I won't be going near the books) and let's be honest, 50 Shades is a very bad example of what BDSM really is. But, back to Mastered.

It was effing awesome, though there were a few things I found...not 'wrong' with it, but didn't quite like about it. Hence the four star rating.

I cannot fault the writing. Ms Silver has a way with words, and appears to have swallowed a large book of vocabulary, because I found myself reaching for the dictionary a few times. Though, my vocab is pretty poor to be fair. But, it was nice to learn new words!

She also has a talent for shocking the reader, drawing the attention like you've been snapped into a trance and you just can't look away from the horror, the explicitness, the juiciness. It's dripping with naughtiness and 'Oo lala's and 'Oh my gosh's and 'what the hell did I just read?'s. I found myself blushing many times with the coarseness and rawness of the narration, the dialogue and in particular the sex/naughty scenes. Speaking of, they were plentiful. I think the majority of the novel was a detailed description of raunchy sex, foreplay, spankings and Dom/Sub 'banter'.

As a Dom/Sub novice (in terms of knowledge NOT the act!), I found it very intriguing to be pulled into that world. And Ms Silver did it justice. I wasn't just pulled, I was yanked by my lady parts into the ground hard and ordered to lay there and watch. It was very sudden, very direct, and very entertaining. I found myself recoiling at the submissive nature expected by the Dom a.k.a James a.k.a 'Master'. How he commanded her--Missy a.k.a Sub a.k.a 'Whore'--to do rather humiliating and demeaning acts. It was strange how Missy found immense arousal in such tasks, like being spanked with a spatula, and having to choose an instrument for the spanking--the spatula, which 'Master' was very pleased with. I couldn't comprehend how humiliation turned her on. Despite squirming a little, I understood and related with a lot more than I expected. And despite how you may feel reading it, I personally started to believe at a certain point in the book--not sure where--that if it's with the right person, you'd do anything to please them, and that in itself is a turn on. So, because the whole point of James choosing Missy is because he senses the submissive nature in her, he knows that she will do anything to please him and find great sexual and spiritual pleasure in doing so. I can relate to that. And if he likes to spank her when she's naughty, then so be it.

What I did find odd in the beginning--because having a complete stranger finger fuck your mouth in a parking lot isn't odd enough--is how they suddenly connected with each other, like a sort of spiritual, supernatural sensation. It was weird. I wasn't sure if I WAS reading a supernatural novel or not at first. To clarify, she's standing in a grocery store line. He's behind her. They make eye contact and BOOM. He somehow senses she's a pure submissive and she somehow senses he is a dominant. It's almost ludicrous, but I am a spiritual gal so it didn't take me long to see that it could be possible. There are connections and emotions we cannot understand but know we feel when we're with someone. Once that was out of the way and I understood, it was easy reading.

Now that we've got some of the good and the naughty out of the way, I'm just going to skim through my criticism of the novel.

Firstly, though this is a minor thing and just a personal preference, I feel I should mention that the words 'submissive' 'master' and 'whore' are used A LOT in this book. Usually in italics, with an exclamation mark, and I found some--not all--unnecessarily put in there. Exclamation marks were overdone too. Whenever someone uses them in narrative, I cringe, because it just--to me--feels cheesy. It can work, but usually I find it doesn't. As for the italic words, they would be slipped awkwardly into the narration and while most of them did work with what the narration was talking about, others grated on me. It was excessive to the point of being comical, which would be fine if I believed that was their purpose. Even so, minor, not important and didn't ruin the novel in any way. Just a niggle.
Submissive!

Secondly, and this criticism can be taken as a compliment to be fair. I felt there was more 'tell' than 'show' in the novel in parts where I really just wanted to see things happen for myself.

Missy and James, after their sexy time, do interact and even joke with one another but those precious moments were mentioned by the narrator, telling us briefly about it and moving on. Whilst I enjoyed every juicy detail of their sexy times, I really wanted to see the characters AFTER that. I was curious how they interacted outside of sex and foreplay. Did they keep up the Dom/Sub rapport, or did they act how they would normally?

I just wasn't sure how far the Dom/Sub lifestyle entwined with their daily lives. Call me boring, but I wanted to see a few snippets of conversation relating to mundane things like buying furniture, paying bills, making arrangements to go out or visit family. It wasn't there, and I felt it should have been for those, like myself, who were really intrigued and curious by the Dom/Sub lifestyle.

To remedy that, however, I can say that moments like that are SHOWN and not TOLD in book two! As I've read that also, so will be reviewing it next.

So to sum up. This book was fantastic, interesting, shocking, sexy/steamy/spicy/naughty, enlightening and very entertaining.

The writing is excellent, eloquent and demands attention. The criticism I have is minor and didn't ruin the overall novel one iota.

I'd recommend it to all people interested to know and UNDERSTAND the world of dominants and submissives and to see that it is a world of love, kinky sex, control with willing participants and the strength to let go of control also. It opened a world that is considered taboo to many but is slowly becoming popular and inviting curious folk to peer over their fence and into the BDSM garden.

If you're easily offended and of a delicate nature, FECK OFF. Har har. Just kidding. But seriously, you might as well, because this book is adult and raw and takes no prisoners. Unless they're willing of course.

And for those who rated it one star because they didn't like the crudeness, well, *blows raspberry*. Ugh.

When I decided to read this book for review, I was excited because I do enjoy erotica and have read several books in the genre. This book, however, didn’t entertain me. In my opinion, the characters Missy and James didn’t work. I felt that Missy’s voice had the potential to be strong but instead it was omitted. I feel she could have been a character that more female readers could relate to had her voice been allowed to come out. For me, I feel that James is difficult to like. He’s a Dominant but to me, it felt that the dominance was pushed on his character. For me, it seemed that James was less of a Dominant and more of an abusive man. I’ve read other books with Dominant/submissive relationships where the connection between the two characters was easy and two-sided. By that I mean that the Dominant explained to his/her submissive what was expected of them and the submissive was allowed to offer insight into what they deemed to be hard limits and safe words. I feel that James should have taken the time to sit down with Missy and explain to her what that kind of a relationship means, explain the lifestyle.
The relationship that Missy and her son have is something I did enjoy. It was easy for me to relate to Missy in that capacity. The love her son has for his mother was beautiful. I also enjoyed the amount of details that were put into the book; it helped to be able to see things from an all-knowing point of view.

"Her deepest secret was found out....there was no going back."

WOW!! From the beginning of this book, you will be enthralled with Missy Weaver and James Colton! At first glance, James is aware of Missy's submissive tendencies. Silver's writing and character development will have you drawn in so much so that it feels as though you are a voyeur! This is a WONDERFUL dom/sub read!
Missy has always been disappointed with how her life has turned out. The needs of her teenaged son is the only thing keeping her going. A chance encounter with a handsome stranger at a grocery store, of all places, gives her hope at finding the love and security she has dreamed of.
James has all but buried his carnal desires with the sudden death of his beloved wife. Three years of grieving has let him empty of any sexual desires. Stumbling upon Missy has given him the possibility to feel again.
He learns of her past, but she is limited in the knowledge of his. Jumping to conclusions when finding his personal belongings, she breaks the number one rule. Has their attempt at a relationship been destroyed before it has had a chance to begin? I'll be digging into Trussed to find out what happens next for James and Missy.
