I've been asked why I write. I write because I remember.

I remember waking up to snow. I remember racing to dress, struggling with my boots – “Here, don't forget your mittens.” I remember the soft thump of that first footstep, the tracks looking back, and everything new and blanketed in quiet white. Foghorns blowing on the mist-covered bay. I feel the canvas newspaper bag on my shoulders, the weight of Sunday's headlines heavy on my mind. I remember rubber bands and ink stained hands. A car spun sideways in a ditch. Always a car. Then barking dogs, a distant chainsaw. I remember snowmen and igloos and icy trails through the white and wondrous woods. And I remember sweet Mrs. Johnson waiting at her door; the smell of Avon powder, her smile as she pressed an envelope into my palm—ten dollars and a peppermint candy cane thank you!

Evening now, running downtown. Everything passes in an excited blur. Salvation Army bells, white lights strung in sidewalk trees, bundled shoppers, hunched and hurrying, kicking up little snowdrifts scattered by the wind. And now I’m here. The heavy door, the warmth, the light, the old wood floors—the bookstore! Smells of paper and leather and ink. Walls of worlds bound and waiting for me.

Nothing has affected me as much as reading has. Dickens, Tolkien, and Lewis raised me. And while I've walked through my own hell, made my own mistakes, and found my own redemption, always there have been books. Books to help me escape, books for courage when I needed to stay and fight. Books that taught without preaching the difference between wrong and right. Books upon books to feed a boy’s feverish dreams; and the boy now grown, it’s still books that kindle the memories of those dreams on these long winter nights.

And so, I remember. And I write.

I read Jane’s Melody last year and I fell in love with the characters, with the story and the writing. Jane and Caleb are truly something special and I’m so happy the author decided to give us a sequel. It’s not often that I love a book and it’s sequel equally, but that is whats happened here. Jane’s Harmony was just as good as the first!

 photo 01ee7e4f-7932-4b19-8394-d8ed0d05861c_zps0d5b4340.jpg

Jane and Caleb are far away from Seattle. They’re living in Texas now. Caleb is following his dream and Jane is supporting him along the way. She wants nothing more than to see Caleb be happy and successful, doing something he loves. And Caleb wants nothing more than to be with Jane. They are in a totally different place in their relationship, but they are still happy together and very much in love.

Caleb has finally gotten what could be his big break. The only problem is, it takes him away from Jane for the time being. Even though there was a good part of the story they weren’t ‘together’, they were. Even with the distance, they stayed connected.

Caleb Cummings really is the perfect guy. Ladies, if you could mold your perfect man… a best friend, lover, and everything you would want in a partner- Caleb would be it. He’s sweet, loyal and just the best guy. In this book he’s tested some, but he passes every test with flying colors. Caleb is the type that does what is right, not what is easy. He cares more about Jane than anything. His devotion and love is something I admire. Jane is a great heroine. She’s endured so much in her life, she is very much deserving of someone like Caleb. There was one point in the story that I was extremely unhappy with her, but luckily that passed quickly. By the end I was still a fan of Jane’s.

Jane and Caleb have a beautiful love. They have great chemistry and an undeniable connection. Jane and Caleb did have struggles and obstacles, but time and time again they’ve proven their love can conquer all.

The writing is beautiful and flawless. The characters are lovable and their story is captivating and engaging. If you haven’t read Jane’s Melody yet, I highly recommend you pick it up. It’s a beautiful and unconventional love story about two unforgettable characters. Once you’ve done that, read this. And for fans of Jane’s Melody, you won’t be disappointed! Ryan Winfield is such a talented author. I love the way he weaves Caleb and Jane’s journey. From start to finish I was engrossed. The epilogue was perfect and left me completely satisfied. Jane’s Harmony was a real winner for me!

Jane’s Story . . .

Dear Friends,

I received messages from many of you after you had read JANE’S MELODY, saying that you were not ready yet to say goodbye to Jane and to Caleb in that little Austin apartment. The truth is I wasn’t either.

Writing is an immersive process for me. I had walked every step of Jane’s journey in this first book. I had smelled the grass in the cemetery, seen the Seattle skyline at sunset from a ferry deck, and found someone I was searching for on an old Pioneer Square bench. But I feared that Jane’s new life in Austin would remain a mystery to me as long as my experience there remained that of a visitor. So I packed a bag and rented an apartment and moved to Austin to find her. And even though I had to walk the soles off of two pairs of shoes to do it, find her I did.

My apartment was above a bar and the bar hosted live music until two in the morning every night of the week, making it nearly impossible to sleep anywhere except on the floor of a back closet with a pillow and blanket like some refugee from the streets. There were a few nights where I surrendered to the music’s calling, leading to an injurious episode with a mechanical bull and another with a runaway pedicab driver looking for his teeth. But I’ll save those to share with you another time. What’s important here is that each morning when I woke, Jane and Caleb were there waiting to tell me their story. A love story. I wrote it down as best I could, and if you read it when it’s released, I pray it brings you as much joy and as much peace as it has brought to them and to me.

I hope you enjoy the continuation of Jane's story with JANE’S HARMONY. There are pre-sale links from my publisher below.

Sincerely,
Ryan Winfield.

P.S. - If you would be so kind as to do me a small favor when you do read JANE'S HARMONY, please say hello to Jane and Caleb for me. I miss them again already.

It’s ironic that for a romance reader like myself, romance by itself bores me. The books that make the strongest, lasting impressions are the ones that don’t just give me a love story. They give me a life story. I can say that for me, Jane and Caleb’s journey has been just that – a beautiful second chance romance infused with a deep, meaningful story of their trial-and-errors in life and the hard-earned, rewarding results from their efforts. This book is really the perfect story to put a smile on my face :)

description

After letting him go once, Jane gave up everything in Seattle to pursue Caleb and their happily-ever-after in Austin. She’s now jobless while Caleb juggles his career as a musician. One of my fears of reading this book was that there just wouldn’t be anything new to add to this couple’s story but that was a misplaced fear. However, I am going to say that if you are not a fan of detailed descriptions of their daily lives, perhaps you won’t find this book to be as captivating as the first. But for me, however, there is a simple beauty in reading about Jane and Caleb’s mundane life activities, especially since it’s in this author’s flawless writing. These two people are quirky and the things they do and say are just so natural it’s hard to not break out in a smile or giggle.

“Q: If you had three watermelons in one hand and two bananas and a coconut in the other hand, what would you have?

You’d have very large hands.”

Help from Jane combined with Caleb’s talent earns him a chance at winning a recording contract. Thus, Caleb and Jane part for a few weeks at a time while he’s off to LA competing and Jane’s in Austin getting used to life now that she’s not in Seattle anymore. Though they are physically separated from each other, never did I feel disconnected from these characters and their story. The author weaves the scenes together so well I almost didn’t believe that they were apart.

“I love you, Caleb. I love you no matter what. Rich or poor, win or lose. And I’ll be waiting right here for you when you return.”

description

I give this book the same rating I gave the first. It’s just as captivating but I think I loved this one a little bit more. Book 1 focused a lot on healing and taking a leap of faith. The attraction, the lust, and the love are all present. But what happens after committing to a relationship, especially one that’s unconventional as Jane and Caleb’s? The obstacles they faced, the real-life struggles this couple had to go through were what made this book a bit stronger for me as it tells the story of their life after happily-ever-after. It’s a no-brainer that I’ll be missing these characters something fierce.

4.5--A True Love Story--Stars!!

Such a wonderful conclusion to Caleb and Jane's love story! I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Caleb and Jane in Jane's Melody. I just didn't feel like their story was over....and it was really only just beginning!

"As an artist, he has always been interested in love. As a man, he had always been fearful of it. But when he thought of Jane, he knew what true love was, and he knew beyond any doubt that it had the power to see anything and everything through."

Jane has left her life behind in Seattle to be with Caleb while he chases his dreams of becoming a musician.

Their roles have somewhat reversed, with Jane looking for work and Caleb supporting her. Their life was simple. But it was theirs. It was filled with hope, dreams and more love than anyone could hope to have.

"It was as if their hearts beat a rhythm that rhymed, their souls strolling together forever in some place beyond space and time, step for step, humming a sweet tune of hope, her voice and his, a harmony neither could deny."

Caleb gets his first break. His chance to make his dreams come true.

I don't normally like it when characters spend a large part of the book apart, but it didn't bother me here.

Caleb wants more than anything to be able to provide for Jane. To give her the life she deserves. To give her a home, a family. And Jane just wants to see Caleb succeed. To see his dreams come true, through his music and his words.

I loved that there wasn't any unnecessary drama. Caleb and Jane are a real couple, with real life problems but they battle them together. They talk to each other, they think of each other. Everything they do is for each other.

Caleb is the type of man that anyone would be lucky to have. He was loyal, he was kind, he was caring. And Jane was everything that Caleb needed and wanted, despite their age differences. Despite the things from their past.

Their love was the truest kind. A love built out of hope and sadness. A love that grew every day. They were two people who had lost their way and found a way back through each other.

One of my favorite things about the book was the inclusion of Caleb's songs. His words were beautiful and held so much meaning and love. This book just made me smile. It warmed my heart. Their love was a love that is so rare to read about in books. I savored every single page.

“Life is filled with questions, and love is the answer to every one of them.”

● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●

After finding out that there would be a sequel to the book Jane's Melody, I was so excited. I loved the first book and just fell in love with the characters and their story. So, thank you, Ryan Winfield, for giving us more of Jane and Caleb. Now that I have finished Jane's Harmony, I can say that I loved it just as much as the first. It did not disappoint, at all.

After letting Caleb leave for Austin, Texas, Jane has left Seattle behind to pursue a life with him. Caleb is still a struggling musician but now has a job, while Jane is having to start all over and is unemployed. Despite them living a less comfortable life, when compared to what they had in Seattle, they are still very happy just being together. And that is what I enjoyed the most, seeing them make a life together. I loved their silly banter, which always put a smile on my face.

Jane is still very supportive of Caleb and his passion for music. She helps and encourages him to audition for a reality music television show, where he can hopefully win and make it big. I loved how much she rooted for Caleb. She was always there as his personal cheerleader when it came to his hopes and dreams. I also liked how she was less insecure about her relationship with Caleb. She didn't let their age difference bother her, especially when Caleb didn't care at all. She is still dealing with a lot after the loss of daughter Melody.

Caleb is still that wonderfully amazing man from the first book. I love how mature he is for his age. He made me swoon and melt by how sweet he could be. He really is perfect. He was loyal in his love for Jane. He never made her feel anything other than loved. He was funny, caring, and supportive. I just loved him completely. I loved the fact that despite him being on a TV show, he still remained true to himself. He never lost sight of what he wanted or what mattered to him.

"It's like meeting an old friend, but for the first time. Like you were made to understand this one person, and they were made to understand you."

There were many funny moments in this book that had me chuckling out loud. I loved that there was some great secondary characters in this book, like Sean--who I freaking loved--and the crazy pink-robe-wearing neighbor Marj. There were also many hilarious moments between Caleb and Jane. That is what I love about this book, the fact that you could feel Caleb and Jane's chemistry. Their relationship was just easy and full of love.

I loved the beautiful story and how heartwarming it was. I loved and I am still a big fan of the wonderful writing. I loved the fact that the love between Jane and Caleb was so strong and real. I loved the quirky secondary characters. I am that this book was just as amazing as the first. The pacing of the book was perfect. And, there was no over the top drama added to keep the reader's attention. The ending and epilogue was so uplifting that I had a big grin on my face. I loved it! Overall, it was a beautiful read and I was left completely pleased with how things were concluded for them.

Caleb and Jane are back together and figuring out their lives in Austin. Jane is looking for a job and Caleb is working and still singing and writing songs around town. That changes when Jane opens up a door for him.

Jane and Caleb together is a wonderful thing. They are just so sweet together...and right. But I was a disappointed not to get their big reunion at the beginning of this book!

The book basically has a lot about their regular day in and day out lives...together and apart. There's some drama in both but thank goodness for the dual POVs. I'm not sure I would've been happy with Caleb without his.

Jane is really the same but she's adapting well at starting over and moving on with her life. She really wants the best for Caleb but sometimes I still felt like she was "mothering" him.

Caleb is taking care of business at home but away from home, he's a bit out of his element. He doesn't want to disappoint Jane and really wants to provide for her but ultimately he has to listen to his gut.

description

We get a lot of steaminess out of these two...and a little kinkiness! Who knew? ;) By far, my favorite was all the sweet nothings that Caleb like to whisper...among other things!

There was a bit of a wait for some drama but you could see it coming. And while I liked how things turned out, I felt it really skated along the edges and was left lacking. I was really hoping for some deeper emotional drama.

I really enjoyed Seth...he was a great new character and I hope we get to read more of him in the next book.

The ending was amazing even though parts had me a little nervous and of course, I loved the epilogue. Things are left on a really great note so I'm a little surprised there's a third book. Maybe it's Seth's??

Wonderful sequel, 4 Musical Stars!

I am not a fan of follow on books about the same couple but I adored Jane's Melody so I just had to read this to see if it could live up to the beauty of it's predecessor.

Jane has followed Caleb to Texas to be with him so that he can follow his dreams of becoming a musician. At first it's hard for Jane, to be stuck in a run down apartment, no job, Caleb out all day and nothing to do but she is determined to make it work.

Caleb gets an opportunity to appear on a reality TV show called Singer-Songwriter Superstar which takes him to LA, leaving Jane back in Texas to pursue her new career as a Parking Warden.

There was no drama here, just a lovely story about 2 people making their love work for them, facing the challenges of being apart, the intrusion from the media, and social media rumours - it was just simply a beautifully written love story.

Ryan Winfield writes from the heart and it shows on every page.

4.5 perfectly loved-up stars

Jane's Melody finished beautifully, but I was eager for more of Jane and Caleb, and Ryan Winfield didn’t let me down! He has delivered a beautiful sequel without falling into the trap of creating drama for drama’s sake, and instead we get fantastic continuation, watching Jane and Caleb settle into their new life together and face a whole new set of challenges.

Jane has left her old life behind to move to Austin to be with Caleb and support him while he chases his dream of a music career. I love Jane! She is still coming to terms with all that she has lost, but at the same time revelling in what she has found with Caleb, and I admired her strength and bravery at starting her life over.

She was right where she wanted to be. Right here. Right now. Forever. With him.

They are blissfully happy together, and very much in love, but when Caleb is given the opportunity of a lifetime, he has to travel to LA in order to pursue it. I loved this storyline! I thought it was a unique and interesting direction for the story, and even though it meant that Caleb and Jane had to have time apart, it added an exciting dynamic and blended beautifully with the rest of the book.

Although there is the separation, they are still very much together with frequent visits, hot phone sex and endlessly swoony declarations. Their time apart allows them the opportunity to figure out exactly what it is they want from their lives, and only serves to draw them closer together. And the whole way through they are super-functional, there is no stupid, very little angst, and each obstacle that they face just reinforces how perfect they are together.

Life is filled with questions, and love is the answer to every one of them.

I need to squee for a moment over the perfection that is Caleb. His love for Jane and his absolute devotion to her is amazing. He puts her first in everything, he supports her and wants nothing more than to be there for her and create a life together. He is truly a good guy, and he consistently blew me away with his awesomeness! And Jane does the same for him. If there is such a thing as soulmates, these two are truly it. They laugh, they have fun, they occasionally argue but deal with it quickly and without drama, and the chemistry between them is sizzling! The sexy time is frequent and HOT. Jane is a lucky, lucky girl!

I loved this book! It’s beautifully written and the story flows effortlessly. Jane and Caleb’s romance is incredible, and the introduction of a new group of side characters just adds to the overall awesome. I’m really happy with the direction of the story and loved every swoon-filled moment of it.

Jane and Caleb are an unforgettable couple! If two characters ever deserved each other, it’s these two. And I know their story will stay with me for a long time to come.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

As much as I was excited for this sequel, a part of me was wary about what this book would bring for Jane and Caleb and what it would mean for their relationship.

So many times, I have read sequels and trilogies of contemporary romances where there is a happy ending but along the way I lose whatever faith I have in the protagonists' relationship. I find that I am left unsure about the longevity of their relationship and that I don't think a happy ever after is realistic. But instead of losing faith in Caleb and Jane and their budding relationship I gain it in spades after reading this sequel.

Well this sequel was very realistic. I found that the struggles faced by Jane and Caleb were real. I felt for both of them. Jane left behind her comfortable life, it was all she knew. Having a steady income, having a home and a house and the kind predictability that we all need and sometimes take for granted. But then she takes a leap of faith and moves to Austin and she leaves it all behind. And while she knows what the move will do to her well structured life, feeling it and living it is another thing and we, as readers, feel it and live it with her. But that is not to say that Jane is consumed by the unbalanced and unpredictable life she finds herself leading. She shows independence and maturity and she picks herself up when the world knocks her down and throughout it all, she never loses faith in Caleb.

Caleb is one of the few male characters that I have complete and utmost respect for. Men like Caleb are hard to come by, actually, people like Caleb are hard to come by. People that are genuine and good, truly good.

If at the end of the first book some are left wondering whether Jane's move to Austin was truly smart, this book will realistically answer those worries and questions.

4.5 SWEET SWEET STARS

Wow this was so sweet. It just tugged at my heart. I want a Caleb in my life. No matter what, Caleb never wavered in his love and devotion to Jane. I think there is a part in both books where he muses on the fact that when he met Jane for the first time he knew he was home. That everything made sense and he was no longer alone or scared. That's love and that's what this book is. I love the first book and I loved this one.

I loved how Ryan, the author, wrote Jane as being secure in Caleb's love for her. She never waivered in her trust that he was only her's even when others tried to make it seem otherwise. She only waivered in her trust in herslef and what she thought her life could be based on her past and what happened with Melody.

I understood Jane's desire to help Caleb fullfill his dreams, even if it was something that Caleb wasn't sure was for him. I thought that despite his age he was so mature to give it a try and not dig in his heels at what he thought wasn't the right direction for him. He took it as long as he could and then he bowed out when it became apparent that it was hurful and not where he really wanted to be.

With Caleb wanting certian things for their life together, I was concerned that Jane's actions would jeopardize that. And Ryan did a great job of leading me to believe she would go through with something that could destroy them.

The Good: Almost everything. the one thing I was a little not happy with in the first book was present in this book, which was more POV from Caleb. I wanted more alternation and I got it here.

The Bad: The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is for some reason, though I love it, but it felt a little too pat, a little too easy in their love. Neither of them was ever really concerned or tempted to think the other could be pulled in a different direction. I don't know if that realistic... and maybe that's why I'm single :D.

But that wasn't enough to make me not love it. Because I did.

All those Nicholas Sparks movies out there, I would love to see this series on film. I think it's different and sweet, with a lot of emotion and heart. It shows realistic issues. Not every family loves each other. Not every person who comes from a disfunctional family has to turn out damaged to the point they can't overcome it. And finally, when you find the love of your life not to let even your own doubts about your worthiness keep you from your happy.

5 ★★★★★ lovely stars

I read Jane's Melody, almost exactly one year to the day I started this book. In my review for Jane's Melody, I wrote: "Ryan Winfield you have a new fan.". With this addition to the series, he didn't disappoint! I am as big a fan as ever.

Ryan Winfield knows how to write a love story. This is about true love, love that is unwavering, faithful and supportive. It's about two people who despite the odds against them fight for one another. I loved the strength both Jane and Caleb exhibited.

"Haven't you ever looked at someone for the first time and instantly known them? Not known them by their looks. But really known them?"..."Like you were made to understand this one person, and they were made to understand you."

He writes with a poetic flare that brings the characters to life. I fell in love with these characters in the first book and got carried away with their story again.

At the end of the first book, Jane leaves her home, memories and job in Seattle, to be with Caleb in Austin, as he lives his dreams. When Caleb finally gets his big break, it takes him far away from her to California. There are obstacles, and trials that face them, but their love is unwavering and their devotion to one another remains strong.

What I love so much about Winfield's writing is that he is so careful about the details, he leaves nothing behind, he covers them all. Whether it is the details of every day living or erotic moments, he engages the reader.

"Don't move. Let's lie here for a while. I like listening to your heart."
"Good."
he said, kissing the top of her head, "because it's beating for you."

I loved Jane's Melody so when Jane's Harmony was released I couldn't pass up the chance to revisit one of my favorite couples. This story starts where Jane's Melody ends and we follow the journey of two people who are devoted to each other but face challenges of their new life. Caleb is such a refreshing character. A hot sexy singer that loves his music but bases his decisions in humility and never compromises his beliefs. Jane has felt so much grief, taking a chance on a life with Caleb breaks down all the walls she has built around herself and finds true love is always worth it. Author Ryan Winfield beautifully crafts this continuing story around trusting the commitment they share for each other when real life pulls them in different directions and finding a little Harmony along the way. Great conclusion to a well written and sexy love story.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I was excited when I saw that the author wrote another book to make this a series. There is something about his writing that I find comforting - like a warm blanket. I am not sure of a better way to describe it. His books have emotions embedded in them - happiness, sadness, etc but through it all the story shines through and doesn't get lost. His characters are genuine, real and relatable. He is absolutely on my list of favorite authors. With that being said, I was a little concerned about the reality TV storyline portion of this book, but I should have known to trust in the author more. He stayed true to his characters and everything within the story is handled well.

This sequel was just as heartwarming as book 1. In the beginning I was mindful of the 15 year age difference, but I soon forgot about it as Jane and Caleb just complimented each other so well. The writing was just seamless and there was no doubt in my mind that Jane and Caleb would make it. The author delivered this story in a way that the reader just felt their love and devotion to each other. You know when you get your clothes out of the dryer and they are all warm and cozy, that's how I felt reading this book--Just enveloped with warmth.

Jane's Harmony is the perfect conclusion to Caleb and Jane's story which began in Jane's Melody. Their love for each other is solid and true and doesn't waver, but that doesn't mean everything is smooth sailing either. In this book Caleb is torn between going home to be true to himself and his music, or continuing on the reality show so he can secure a record contract and be able to provide for Jane. Jane is also faced with a major decision that effects both their lives. Ryan Winfield is a very talented writer. My interest never lagged and both of the Jane books really touched my heart.

Perfect Ending....

Now that is what I call a perfect ending to a beautiful love story...
After reading Ryan Winfield s Park Service Trilogy my only complaint was the ending... but this story ending more than made up for it.

Being a longtime fan of American Idol and an even bigger fan of The Voice, I enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the reality TV show.

A perfect tale of two people, life's ups and downs and the power of true love

Jane's Harmony is a sequel to Jane's Melody. This romance novel reminds you that two people can find true love despite the turmoil each individual has endured. It allows you to realize that everything will be ok as long as you are truly loved by your mate.

4.5 Amazing Stars!
Review by Jen Hagen

I am in awe of Ryan Winfield’s writing in this series. Maybe it’s because I’m a 42-year-old female that can relate to the main female character of the same age. Sometimes I need I need a break from the high-school/college romance and his writing style is one that caters to the more mature reader but still gives it an edge to it with the sexy scenes.

Jane’s Harmony continues where Jane’s Melody left off. Jane has sold her home and belongings in Seattle and moved to Austin, Texas to be with Caleb. He didn’t ask her to follow him; in fact, Jane essentially had to push him away from her to follow his dreams of becoming a musician. Of course there is the age difference to factor in Jane pushing him away also…Jane is 16 years older than Caleb. Jane decided to take the chance and follow her heart.

Although Caleb is younger than Jane, he is wise beyond his years. Living on the streets and being homeless probably does that to you. Caleb has a very small apartment to call his own and is proud of being able to finally have a place to call his home and the fact that he has income to pay the rent is the icing on the cake. Jane isn’t used to living without everyday luxuries and wants to use some of her money to help. This does not bode well with Caleb – he is old school and wants to be the man in the relationship by supplying the income.

Caleb has an opportunity to advance in his music career, but with it he may have to sell himself out including his beliefs. Caleb will never falter in his love for Jane, and Jane knows that what she and Caleb have can withstand anything that is thrown at them even from a distance and through a lens. She has immense trust in Caleb and Caleb worships Jane with his all. Their relationship is beautiful, simple and untouchable.

Rich or poor, win or lose, no matter what this world threw at them, they would face it together.

Caleb wants a family…Jane has already had her family and she cannot stand the thought of another child dying. She won’t go there again. Is this obstacle too large for them to overcome? Jane is forced to make a decision and when she was contemplating her choices I was scared of her decision, knowing that it could possibly break her and Caleb.

Caleb is also facing a decision of his that could make or break his career. Once it comes down to, he doesn’t blink twice and never falter in his beliefs of doing the right thing for Jane and him.

“I’m trading a dream for a better reality.”

I loved Caleb from the moment I met him. He is sweet, strong and independent. The love he can give Jane is immeasurable and is what we all hope to have in our lives. Jane never thought she would find such love in Caleb, and I am so glad that she gave him the chance.

Some of the plot for this story was not my personal preference (it takes on a little bit of an entertainment value) but I could not bring down the rating for that. I needed to give this book the rating it deserved because of its wonderful writing and incredible love that could be felt through the words. I look forward to reading more of Mr. Winfield’s future works.

JANE'S HARMONY is a continuation of "Jane's Melody," Caleb and Jane's heartwarming love story.

If you haven't read Jane's Melody, I highly recommend you read it, if you enjoy a tender, love story with flawed characters who struggle with their own internal demons, but at the same time, embark on a journey of self-discovery, self-awareness and make the best out of life, even under tragic circumstances.

In JANE'S HARMONY readers are once again treated to Ryan Winfield's soulful and lyrical writing style. The book picks up after Jane has moved to Austin, Texas, leaving behind her house, her career and memories in Seattle, and moves into a small apartment with Caleb.

As romantic and sexy as that sounds, love is not always enough when it comes to paying bills, pursuing careers, and adjusting to a new committed relationship. The story unfolds at a steady pace, and shows us how this couple each comes into their own as they are still peeling back the layers of their own struggles.

Caleb is the type of male protagonist that I enjoy reading. He's witty, kind, sweet, has incredible inner strength, and doesn't see himself as a victim, even though he had a raw deal growing up. If anything, this has made him a strong person, filled with a lot of compassion and empathy. He's a passionate lover, and a talented musician, but struggles to stay true to his art, in an art form that is filled with a lot of superficiality.

Jane is sixteen years older than Caleb, however, the age difference isn't apparent in their love or their behavior, as Jane is young at heart, and game to enjoy the same things as Caleb, but still remaining her own person.

Their journey is not without problems, because as in real life, nothing is perfect. There are financial issues, the fact that Jane isn't entirely happy living in cramped quarters, surrounded by the quirky people in Caleb's life. She is restless, concerned about money, and wants to fulfill her own goals in a new profession, at the same time supporting Caleb so he can realize his goals as a musician.

Jane is still mourning the loss of her daughter, struggling to come to terms with the guilt associated with grieving, as well as having to support her mother who faces medical issues, adding to Jane's internal turmoil.

Caleb would love to have a child with Jane, but, Jane is petrified of becoming a mother again, because of the addictions that have plagued her family.

Even when Caleb and Jane are at odds, the deep love this couple possesses for each other never wanes. Their outbursts are understandable, and one can feel the pain each is struggling with.

There is humor sprinkled throughout the story, some angst, well written, sensual love scenes, a lot of insight into how a reality show is produced, which was interesting, especially if you enjoy programs like "The Voice" or "American Idol," and in the Ryan Winfield excellent way of spinning a story, deep point of views packed with varying emotions.

Beautiful love story.

I look forward to more from this author.

4.5 LOVE CONQUERS ALL STARS!

“ARC was kindly given to me in exchange for an honest review via Atria books”

I knew immediately before starting to read Jane’s Harmony that I was in for a real treat! I have been a loyal fan of Mr. Winfield for quite some time now. He hooked me after I discovered his novel, South of Bixby Bridge. His books are always written with class, are poetically solid and are practically flawless. I promise you with Jane’s Harmony, he brings his readers yet again another wonderfully written story.

Jane tragically lost her daughter, Melody early in Jane’s Melody and while she was searching for some answers regarding her daughter’s life, she meets Caleb. Caleb and Jane are not your typical couple because Jane is much older than Caleb. This brings different challenges in itself regarding their relationship.

In this installment, the story picks up right where book one stopped. Jane and Caleb are now living in Austin, Texas and are both trying to make ends meet. Caleb has an amazing opportunity arise that could potentially be life-changing for them. It’s just too much temptation to resist, so Caleb goes off to try and chase what he thinks may be his dream as a huge musician. Jane and Caleb are now facing many new ups and downs in their day-to-day lives, yet they both have so much hope and love for one other that they somehow just manage to keep going strong.

One thing I just have to mention is how much I LOVED the way one specific sex scene was put together. Many romantic stories out right now on the bookshelves have some light bondage/BDSM elements sprinkled throughout. Well, in Jane’s Harmony there is a scene where Jane becomes more of a dominant role in the bedroom then Caleb. I honestly found this very refreshing to read because most authors typically use male roles as the dominant figure, not females. With Jane’s personality it makes perfect sense for her to have those more dominant feelings toward Caleb.

I also really loved the sub-character, Mrs. Hawthorne because I felt she brought much needed humor to Jane’s Harmony. Mrs. Hawthorne is one clever woman and I really enjoyed learning more about her and her past.

If you picked up Jane’s Melody and enjoyed it, I highly recommend that you give Jane’s Harmony a chance. I liked this story just as much, if not more than Jane’s Melody. I can’t wait to see what Mr. Winfield brings us next!

I give Jane’s Harmony, 4.5 LOVE CONQUERS ALL STARS!

XOXO

Jane and Caleb in Harmony Forever!

Jane’s Harmony is the continuing love story of Jane and Caleb, both separately immersed in inner conflict yet finding solace and peace when together. Jane has made a decision to leave her home on Bainbridge Island in Washington State to follow her heart and join her true love and soul mate in Austin, Texas. Reality strikes as Jane needs to find a job and Caleb lives the life of a struggling musician with a regular job on the side. Living in Caleb’s meager apartment is not what Jane is used to in comparison to the house and property she left behind.

When Jane surprises Caleb by entering him in a singer/songwriter competition that will be nationally televised, Caleb is conflicted by what is expected of him as he progresses through the cycle of elimination. He discovers the real truths that lie behind the scenes of what the public is expected to believe, created by aggressive producers and fueled by the viral impact of social media in a race for an intangible finish of possibilities. Through it all can he still maintain true to his art or is truth being masked by a façade of glitz?

While Caleb goes through the motions of the competition in California, Jane is back in Texas searching and obtaining a job, establishing surprising friendships and simultaneously trying to avoid or confront the angst from her past in order to secure a solid foundation for her future with Caleb. The constant painful memories of the daughter she lost and the turmoil that is her family affect the choices she makes.

Yet, somehow the search of what is truly important to both Caleb and Jane shines through and that is their deep and constant love and support for each other.

Ryan Winfield pens a beautiful love story. This book flows perfectly from the first book, “Jane’s Melody” and keeps the reader involved and invested. Ryan’s gift of virtual imagery keeps the reader totally immersed in the sights, sounds and emotions throughout the story. This is a very satisfying series and one I will visit again and again. Another home run, Ryan!!

What makes a book enjoyable for me is if it holds my attention, isn't a chore to read and if I plan to sit for a couple of minutes and read and before I know it, 2 hours have gone by and I haven't noticed. Jane's Harmony did hit this mark for me but I do think it is the weakest of all the Ryan Winfield books I have read. It lacks the grit of South of Bixby Bridge, the imagination of the Park Services trilogy and the character depth of it's parent book, Jane's Melody. This being said, I really do not like the love story, gentle erotica genre. I have a friend whom I have known since childhood, Peyton Sloane who writes rather detailed erotica and I tell her the same thing that this type of story line is not for me, much prefer murder, mayhem and puzzles to solve. But like her, Ryan paints wonderful pictures with his words that take us to the time, moment and place. It feels like we are actually there with the characters.

You know I love you Ryan, I think I was one of the first people who reviewed South of Bixby Bridge on this site and Amazon. Even though this is a little too, "fluffy" for me I'm commenting on the quality of writing and that did not disappoint, one star off for the genre.

We catch up with Caleb and Jane again, living in Austin. Caleb is still chasing his dream of becoming a successful, singer, songwriter while Jane is trying to find a job to supplement their income. Jane, without Caleb's consent or knowledge signs Caleb up for an audition for a new reality singer, songwriter show. Caleb is not pleased but goes to the audition. He is originally turned down but through default gets through to the live shows in L.A. In the reality show setting, reality really sets in and inner struggles and doubts creep in.

A good read, as long as you are not expecting it to be anything but a love story. The writing is flowing and easy to read and it does take you away. You can't help but like Caleb and Jane and root for them. Thanks Ryan, can't wait to see what's next.

Another good book, Caleb is still a great character. It was nice to have more of Caleb's POV I liked his side of the story. The only thing I didn't like was that it felt like Caleb and Jane where living two different life for most of the book. The whole songwriting competition was a bad thing all around I know that Caleb wanted a music career but I felt like Jane was pushing him to stay in the competition. Caleb just wanted her to tell him to come home and he would be happy. Jane should never listen to her head it makes her do stupid things, I like her more in the beginning but she was thinking of making a huge mistake that I think Caleb wouldn't have forgiven her for it but thank goodness she didn't go through with it. On a Sidenote I love Mrs. Hawthorne Character wish she was in more of the book. This was a great ending for Caleb and Jane story.

I love a suprise, especially after a book I pre-ordered nine months ago finally appears on my Kindle app. Jane's Harmony by Ryan Winfield has finally arrived.

Jane and Caleb's story takes off from where we left the couple from Jane's Melody; in Austin, Texas building a new life together, making the best of their current situation. Their lives are far from ideal, Jane having to accept that she isn't the main provider and relying on Caleb to put a roof over their head. Caleb in turn working a day job to pay the rent whilst pursuing his musical aspirations in his spare time. A change of luck enables Caleb to chase his dreams, but in reality he questions the compromises he has to make to achieve them. Meanwhile, Jane is unwavering in her support for the man she loves. Likewise Caleb's only sure feeling is his undying love for Jane.

In addition to our heroine and hero, there's an eclectic cast of supporting of characters. Ryan has a unique way of bringing them all to life, making them real and believable. Never one to shy away from difficult topics, sensitive issues are dealt with in a sympathetic and compassionate way, drawing complex emotions from the characters. This book is well written in a visually descriptive way.

Jane's Harmony can be read as a standalone novel, but to fully appreciate Jane and Caleb's unique story and how they met, I highly recommend Jane's Melody too.
