So after a few unfinished attempts I've finally committed to reading a manga series, this one that I chose was because I saw it on an number of your Goodreads' feeds. Saitaima, One-Punch Man, skinny, young, very average looking, bald (that's bald, and not bold) and with a deadly punch is bored of his superhero-doom as he can't find any villain who he can't take out in one punch!
At first glance this all felt infantile and inane, but the overall sense of it isn't too bad, so I will continue to the second volume. 4 out of 12, Two Star read, but with some promise?

It's been years since I last read a manga. Nothing really enticed me enough to pick one up, but as everyone knows, One-Punch Man has been receiving a huge amount of buzz these past few weeks. People are begging me to watch it, but it's my exam week so I decided to read a chapter of the manga instead. The one chapter plan didn't work because I ended up finishing the first volume despite having a huge Hematology exam tomorrow. The series is that addicting!
I like anime/mangas with a lot of action. I typically don't like ones with a lot of backstory and drama, but a little of those won't make me hate the series. One-Punch Man is straight out action and craziness. It's humorous and very easy to read. Most mangas I've read before needed a bit more push to be read, but this one worked its way with no problems.
The only thing that I'm worried about is the fact that it's so senseless and fun that my excitement of the series might die out real soon. I don't see a real plot behind it, so the style might die out for me in the future. It's 10 volumes strong right now though, so that seems like a good sign so far.

Un manga asqueroso, muy previsible porque "one-punch man" gana a todos los malos de un solo puñetazo, todos los combates son iguales, solo me gusta Blizzard-sama.
Manga bastante fácil de distinguir a los idiotas ya que escriben algo similar a lo de arriba.
Advertir que esta serie es un Seinen parodia de los shonens y los superheroes, y tiene un humor que una persona que no tenga una mentalidad adulta probablemente no sea capaz de entender.
Antes de explicar lo del primer parágrafo, os voy a dejar con el "Hype" y voy a ponerme a hablar del autor y del ilustrador de este manga porque creo que es algo necesario.
Vamos a hablar del autor de este manga conocido como ONE, probablemente arriba tengáis alguna imagen de Neo de matrix (soy todo humor), pero del autor básicamente no sabemos nada aparte de que escribe este manga, que se define a si mismo como mangaca por afición (Saitama a su vez se definirá como super heroe por afición) y tiene un blog (http://galaxyheavyblow.web.fc2.com/) donde publica one-punch man incluso a día de hoy, si entráis en esa web para leer el manga tendréis 2 problemas, el primero es que esta en japones, y el segundo es que los dibujos son horribles y eso siendo generosos, aquí os pongo un ejemplo:
Aun con este nivel tan alto de dibujo que creo que la mayoría tenemos, la web se convirtió en un sitio muy popular por la historia de one-punch man, porque a pesar de "la alta" calidad de dibujo la verdad es que la historia es muy buena.
Así que un buen día entro Yusuke Murata, conocido principalmente por un manga llamado Eyeshield21, y le propuso a ONE que le dejara redibujar su manga (lo se nadie entiende el porque) y publicar este en la Young Jump, no se si os dais cuenta de la magnitud de esto, esta revista es la mas conocida referente a manga, normalmente para poder presentar un piloto para que se lo piensen si te publican en su revista ya es una odisea, y que te lo acepten es aun mas complicado, que te vengan a ti, te den un mangaca reconocido para que redibuje tu obra, y venga te publicamos así pim pam, creo que es algo que no se a dado demasiadas veces, por cierto aquí tenéis la viñeta anterior dibujada por Yusuke:

Presupongo que no hace falta que os cuente la diferencia entre el antes y el después de este homenaje a Piccolo de Dragon Ball.
Por supuesto el manga en la Young Jump fue un éxito y su reciente anime a tenido una gran aceptación.
One al final cumplió el sueño de mucha gente que le gusta el manga, hacer algo vía web, que lo descubran, y lo publiquen, aunque siempre le quedaría la opción de ser animador en dragon ball super
Entonces volvamos al principio, porque la gente es idiota por decir que one-punch man es aburrido porque los gana a todos de un puñetazo?
Os parecerá increíble pero esto tiene un motivo, este manga es una parodia a otros shonens y a los super héroes, y el motivo es bastante simple, en estos siempre los buenos ganan, pase lo que pase, por muy difícil que lo tenga el héroe de turno este siempre ganara, en definitiva vivimos engañados, no solo Saitama gana siempre de un puñetazo, todos los héroes ganan siempre, y aquí llegamos a lo que es este manga, una parodia, esta parodiando el que los héroes ganen siempre con que Saitama gane de un puñetazo, y si eres mas tonto que una piedra, y no eres capaz de ver mas allá, no vas a poder disfrutar de este manga donde probablemente lo menos importante sean los combates de Saitama.
Aparte de todo esto, la parodia no acaba aquí, veremos a Saitama que objetivamente es mejor que todos los super héroes, , este no sera aceptado en los primeros puestos, entre otros muchos motivos, no sacar suficiente nota en el examen teórico de super héroe (a pesar de hacer un récord en todas las pruebas físicas), las chicas preferirán otros super héroes por ser mas guapos, quejas porque aun salvarles las vida a causado daños a vienes materiales e increparle que era mejor que no los hubiese salvado que ya hubiese aparecido otro super héroe, ...
La asociación de super héroes le asignara el fantástico nombre de
Un humor algo mas inteligente del que nos tienen acostumbrados los japoneses, es decir no es como Arale cuando intenta disparar misiles a lo plan Afrodita de Mazinger, pero tienes que saber ver algo mas allá para verlo.
Luego esta la gente que dice que la serie esta sobre valorada, sí, porque toda la gente que la miraba en la web lo miraba por su gran calidad de dibujo..., creo que el éxito de esta serie es que a diferencia de los otros mangas shonen por romper los estereotipos que desde hace bastante tiempo tienen los mangas, aparte de añadirle un toque de humor, cual es el entrenamiento secreto de este para ser tan fuerte, hacer 100 sentadillas, 100 flexiones, 100 abdominales y correr 10 quilometros todos los días durante 3 años hasta que se le callo el pelo, aquí hay 2 cosas la primera es decir no puede ser..., la segunda es un mensaje de haz ejercicio.
Por la originalidad del concepto del propio manga, por cuando lo dibujaba ONE que lo leía gente, por ir innovando episodio a episodio, etc.

One-Punch Man! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Okay, granted, I'm a huge fan of manga in general, but this is a combo satire/genuine awesome story that takes on ALL the greats and turns all the stories on their heads. It takes on the serious subjects while staring dead-on with the craziest issues raised by the comics in general.
Don't trust me? Watch one episode of the anime or read the very first issue of the manga. The whole thing is brilliant and laugh-out-loud funny.

One Punch-Man is about a superhero who can, yes, defeat enemies with one punch. It’s also intended to be that stupid because it’s a parody of martial arts manga like Dragon Ball, etc.
The pretentiously-named writer “One” immediately sets the tongue-in-cheek tone right from the start: a Piccolo-lookalike begins destroying “City A” but stops in front of a crying schoolchild literally labelled “School Child”. Then One Punch-Man arrives - he’s a hero for fun, that’s his whole origin! - so the villain can announce that he’s Vaccine-Man. Why? The Earth is a living organism, humans are germs, and he’s the vaccine - he actually says that! And then One Punch-Man punches him once and it’s over.
Clearly it’s meant to be over-the-top silly, post-modern and satirical. But once we’re past the amusing first chapter there’s nowhere to go. It’s a single gag/observation and that’s all this comic’s got! One tries introducing a mosquito villain which makes it hard for One Punch-Man to defeat because there’s so many mosquitoes, and a cyborg becomes our hero’s apprentice, but no semblance of a story emerges by the end of this first volume. All that happens is that a villain is introduced only to be punched once - repeat ad infinitum!
Yusuke Murata’s art is fine if indistinct and generic, like most Shonen Jump manga, but One’s script is very lacking. The concept would be fine for a one-off joke strip in an anthology - the first chapter is clever, funny, entertaining and feels fresh - but as a series? I’m amazed they even got one full book out of it, let alone an entire series! And after this first volume, I can’t say I’m at all interested in seeing how One Punch-Man develops in later books, if indeed it does!

Volume 1 of One-punch Man is unbelievably funny and refreshing, if you wanted some good laugh, go for it!
Our main character is a Japanese young man whose hobby/wish/dream is...to become a superhero in order to defeat bad guys. And after 3 years of tough training...he trained himself into having superhuman power at the age of 25 (he's later called the One-punch Man because he can defeat super-villains with one single punch)...but during the progress, he also lost all of his hair.
There are more and more super-villains going around hurting defenseless citizens, it is all up to our hero, the One-punch Man to save the day! However, as time pasts, the One-punch Man finds himself unable to find meaning in his brave deeds anymore, so what will happen next?
I can only tell you I LOL nonstop reading this eye-popingly hilarious manga, will look forward for the next volume.
I think it would be best for you to read this OnePunch Man series side by side with Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners series. LOL

Overall review for the series:
One Punch Man has this perfect synergy of god-level splash page action sequences and hilarious cultural satire.
It's two exceptionally gifted creators and artists working together on a comic book superhero parody that is better than 99% of superhero fiction in any medium.
It's the best elements of the Tick, Dragonball and Warren Ellis' Authority all put together.
It's a great commentary on Superman (and other types of overpowered heroes) as well as the cultural idea of superheroes in general.
And what's really refreshing is that it doesn't have to make the characters ridiculously gritty or dark or fascist or evil to make those observations stick.
In a way it's smarter than a lot of the works that follow in the footsteps of Frank Miller's Dark Knight because it doesn't compromise the heroes to criticise them. Which makes its observations on the heroic fantasy more nuanced and fun and sharp at the same time.
And it just keeps getting better and smarter and more entertaining as the years go on. It has great lore and world-building that incorporates hysterical parodies and homages to giant monster tv shows and movies, martial arts fiction, body building fetishism, pro wrestling, giant robots, shonen fiction, Japanese TV and horror films. It's so good and so slick. And they make it look easy. 9/10

This manga is a little repetitive, but I really enjoyed it. It has humor and action mixed in with great characterization and interesting backstories. I highly recommend this manga to people who are looking for a light and fun read.

A parody of the shonen and superhero genres, targeted at the fans of these genres. I am not a fan, so most references either went right over my head or did not feel particularly noteworthy to me. The detailed, elaborately choreographed, Otomo-inspired action scenes are impressive, though.

This was awesome! I think it was a little over-hyped for me, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I'll grow to love the characters, Genos and Saitama, even more as the series progresses. Saitama is already hilariously amazing though. The art was fantastic, I think. And it definitely felt like a mix of a manga and comic book with all the BOOM and WHAM's.

My favorite superhero series to ever exist (yeah, I like it better than My Hero Academia). Just as amazing as the anime adaptation if not better. So much fun. Saitama & Genos’ dynamic is my everything. The artwork is 11/10. What else do you need?

It was only a matter of time before I finally checked out the revered bald superhero defeating enemies in a single punch. This was a really humorous first volume, with incredible art and action sequences.
While I liked Saitama and the beginnings of his dynamic with Genos, the actual storyline itself already feels a bit repetitive. As a strictly comedic manga? Loved it. Though I'm not sure how this will span out into a long running series that'll keep my interest. (Still not over the art though... seriously, wow!)

This is a pretty funny parody of superheroes and shonen manga series that featuring a lot of fighting. The art is fantastic as well. However, the copy that I received had a lot of printing errors such as whole chapters being duplicated and the chapters that were supposed to be there were missing. I guess I'll have to track down a copy without the errors.

Saitama, aka the One-Punch man literary beats his opponents with just one punch! This is how strong our hero is. Already laid-back even before he became the world's strongest hero, eventually he got too bored because no monster has ever posed a real threat to him. Saitama has all the strength of Fist of the North Star's Kenshiro who is always nonchalant like Naruto's Shikamaru.
Plus, he's bald.
One thing very noticeable with One-punch man is that it does away with lengthy back stories and complicated plots. Rather, the manga throws you right away with outrageously boombastic fight scenes from almost cover to cover. No shitty dialogues and corny lines, just pure martial fun.
I may have outgrown this type of manga (or may have read too much Kazuo Koike creations), but One-Punch man is downright funny and entertaining. The dullest moments I've read are Saitama's backstories prior to him going bald but those scenes are way more than just being mediocre.
The monster designs in one-punch man are detailed, regardless of how long their screen time is. I find it so hilarious when most of them have very serious motivations to invade earth, only to be thwarted by a seemingly uninspired protagonist. With this regard, I must honorably mention Vaccine Man!
One-Punch may not be anymore suited for my age but one cannot ignore how good it is. Looking forward to reading the second volume.

The artwork and action sequences here were fabulous! However, the story was a bit confusing, and freaky visuals alongside a smattering of profanity didn't help matters. So, this was a mixed bag.

Recién ahora estoy empezando a animarme al manga. De chico nunca me interesó; prefería los cómics de superhéroes de DC y, cuando fui un poco más grande, las historietas argentinas de la edad dorada. Tampoco me subí a la ola noventosa del animé. Las animaciones me parecían horribles y las historias infumables, así que cuando todos hablaban de Dragon Ball o de Pokemon en el recreo, yo no entendía nada. Ahora me arrepiento un poco de haber dejado pasar la oportunidad de formar parte de ese fenómeno cultural y a la vez educarme en un medio tan particular como el manga, para después ir accediendo de a poco a otras obras. Ahora, ya adulto, tengo que empezar de cero.
Lo primero que me sorprendió de One Punch Man es que no me resulta inaccesible en ese sentido. Por el contrario, muchas veces entiendo qué es lo que está parodiando, o al menos creo entenderlo. Tal vez esto significa que las convenciones del shonen me llegaron en esa especie de consumo pasivo de mi infancia, o que One Punch Man es una de esas parodias que pueden funcionar independientemente del género con el que trabajan. De paso, creo leer en este cómic también un comentario sobre el género occidental de los superhéroes, con el que estoy relativamente familiarizado.
Saitama, el héroe protagonista de One Punch Man es tan poderoso que puede derrotar a cualquier enemigo con un solo golpe. Sin excepciones. Hay quienes buscan destruirlo; enemigos que amenazantes y vistosos, que contrastan con el aspecto más bien austero, hasta desprotegido, de Saitama. No importa lo mucho que alardeen, ni sus discursos encendidos, él siempre los termina venciendo con parsimonia y con un solo golpe de puño. Saitama se va haciendo así de nuevos enemigos, también de algunos admiradores, pero a él la sensación que lo domina ante todo lo que ocurre es el aburrimiento. Sabe que no puede perder. No hay emoción, no hay tensión dramática, no hay la milimétrica comparación de poderes que caracteriza al shonen. Es interesante ver cómo trabaja la narración, ante la ausencia de estos elementos tan esenciales. Las batallas no son realmente el corazón de la historia, aunque sean el momento en el que el protagonista exhibe su título. El eje está en cambio en el hastío existencial de Saitama, y también en las experiencias mundanas de su día a día.
¿Es Saitama un héroe? Parece difícil decirlo, porque, más allá de sus poderes, no muestra cualidades verdaderamente heroicas. No es un personaje que se haga querer. Su contracara es Mumen Raider, de cualidades físicas más bien modestas, pero que se muestra siempre dispuesto a la valentía y al sacrificio. Saitama tiene una personalidad más bien chata, y el público en general no parece apreciarlo – de hecho, son pocos los que siquiera saben de su existencia. Los héroes más populares son en cambio aquellos con un sentido de la publicidad y, por qué no, del drama. ¿Quién querría ver un partido de fútbol en el que un jugador pudiese marcar un gol con cada disparo?
La de Saitama es la vieja historia del genio que pasa desapercibido porque él no sabe vender su genialidad – y también, a veces, porque el mundo es demasiado mediocre para comprenderla. Los héroes de One Punch Man están nucleados en una organización burocratizada, de membresía obligatoria para todos los que pretendan disfrazarse y salir a luchar con monstruos. También se divide a los héroes en categorías de acuerdo a su poder, y cuando Saitama solicita el ingreso a la organización, lo asignan a la categoría más baja. Pese a su poderío, que superó incluso los parámetros de medición de los tests, Saitama obtuvo la peor calificación en la prueba teórica. Sí, es una declaración sobre la incapacidad de los exámenes para dar cuenta de lo extraordinario, y al mismo tiempo un indicio de que el heroísmo no pasa únicamente por los poderes.
El conflicto ya aparece en el título del cómic: Saitama es literalmente el hombre de un golpe de puño, pero no es ninguna otra cosa. Lo suyo es la pura habilidad sin relato, el heroísmo sin performance. Se podría objetar que nada de eso le hace falta para derrotar a sus enemigos. Bueno: ese es exactamente su problema.

De paso, creo leer en este cómic también un comentario sobre el género occidental de los superhéroes, con el que estoy relativamente familiarizado.
Saitama, el héroe protagonista de One Punch Man es tan poderoso que puede derrotar a cualquier enemigo con un solo golpe. Sin excepciones. Hay quienes buscan destruirlo; enemigos que amenazantes y vistosos, que contrastan con el aspecto más bien austero, hasta desprotegido, de Saitama. No importa lo mucho que alardeen, ni sus discursos encendidos, él siempre los termina venciendo con parsimonia y con un solo golpe de puño. Saitama se va haciendo así de nuevos enemigos, también de algunos admiradores, pero a él la sensación que lo domina ante todo lo que ocurre es el aburrimiento. Sabe que no puede perder. No hay emoción, no hay tensión dramática, no hay la milimétrica comparación de poderes que caracteriza al shonen. Es interesante ver cómo trabaja la narración, ante la ausencia de estos elementos tan esenciales. Las batallas no son realmente el corazón de la historia, aunque sean el momento en el que el protagonista exhibe su título. El eje está en cambio en el hastío existencial de Saitama, y también en las experiencias mundanas de su día a día.
¿Es Saitama un héroe? Parece difícil decirlo, porque, más allá de sus poderes, no muestra cualidades verdaderamente heroicas. No es un personaje que se haga querer. Su contracara es Mumen Raider, de cualidades físicas más bien modestas, pero que se muestra siempre dispuesto a la valentía y al sacrificio. Saitama tiene una personalidad más bien chata, y el público en general no parece apreciarlo – de hecho, son pocos los que siquiera saben de su existencia. Los héroes más populares son en cambio aquellos con un sentido de la publicidad y, por qué no, del drama. ¿Quién querría ver un partido de fútbol en el que un jugador pudiese marcar un gol con cada disparo?
La de Saitama es la vieja historia del genio que pasa desapercibido porque él no sabe vender su genialidad – y también, a veces, porque el mundo es demasiado mediocre para comprenderla. Los héroes de One Punch Man están nucleados en una organización burocratizada, de membresía obligatoria para todos los que pretendan disfrazarse y salir a luchar con monstruos. También se divide a los héroes en categorías de acuerdo a su poder, y cuando Saitama solicita el ingreso a la organización, lo asignan a la categoría más baja. Pese a su poderío, que superó incluso los parámetros de medición de los tests, Saitama obtuvo la peor calificación en la prueba teórica. Sí, es una declaración sobre la incapacidad de los exámenes para dar cuenta de lo extraordinario, y al mismo tiempo un indicio de que el heroísmo no pasa únicamente por los poderes.
El conflicto ya aparece en el título del cómic: Saitama es literalmente el hombre de un golpe de puño, pero no es ninguna otra cosa. Lo suyo es la pura habilidad sin relato, el heroísmo sin performance. Se podría objetar que nada de eso le hace falta para derrotar a sus enemigos. Bueno: ese es exactamente su problema.

One Punch-Man has gained a lot of praise in recent years, especially with its anime, but what makes it so special? Pure action sequences after action sequences. This is a parody of stories focused on super-powered heroes.
Our main protagonist, Saitama, is however a dull uninspired hero who seeks fun but barely ever gets it thanks to his outstanding strength that ends all battles with a single punch. The villains are always grandiose and beautiful in their own way, making every encounter a fun and extremely-quick thrill.
But the way it reflects on the insanity of long monologues and of villains with complex motives, alongside the nice artwork, is what is keeping me hooked so far.

This was fun, but I definitely prefer the anime thus far. Not sure if I will continue reading this series, or instead just opt to rewatch the show.

ONE PUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay so I love the anime so figured I'd give the Manga a chance. Does it hold up? For the most part, yes.
This is all about Saitama and his jounary of being a superhero! Well kind of. Basically, he's freaking untouchable in a way. With one punch he can take down ANY villain. So it's easy to see why this young bald man is becoming bored with life. So this is just his daily fun time with taking down a bunch of villains with his ultimate power. Get a little bit of backstory here, a dream, and introduced to a cyborg like man with spikey hair to kind of make fun of all the pointy hair heroes we get in every Shonen.
Good: Super fun dialog, actually laugh out loud moments, great fight scenes that, while not as impressive as the anime, are still really easy to follow, and brisk paced reading. It's worth checking out for just the crazy fights alone but the character moments and humor push it even further.
Bad: They seem disconnected stories because the main story doesn't begin yet so might feel a little lost in itself.
overall one punch man is a ton of fucking fun. While the anime's fight scenes bring it to the next level this is damn good. A 4 out of 5.

I have to admit that it's been awhile since I have read any manga. So I guess the highest compliment I can give this series is that it sucked me right back into the world of backwards, black and white comic books. Or...Manga...if you will.
Ive always been an avid anime watcher, and when I heard about the premise of the upcoming One-Punch Man anime coming this fall I was immediately intrigued. A 'hero for fun' who can destroy his enemies in one single punch? Color me interested!
So while waiting for its release, on a whim, I decided to check out the manga.
Holy balls was it ever good! The art blew me away and the story sucked me right in. Now I'm a fiend and I'm clawing over stacks of manga wanting to read anything I can get my hands on. For that reason alone I figure One-Punch deserves five stars. But you know what...even if it didn't reignite my love for manga I'd still rate this series highly. I swallowed 3 full volumes of it and I can't wait to get my hands on more.

Primeira experiência de leitura de um manga terminada!
Experiência muito interessante, logo no primeiro contacto com o "objecto-livro", por ser um livro "ao contrário", e ter também que ser lido "ao contrário"! Algo um pouquinho estranho no início, mas a que me habituei bem. Claro que de vez em quando ainda me "despistava" mas nada de grave, era só voltar um pouco atrás.
Toda a experiência foi positiva quer ao nível gráfico quer ao nível do argumento. A premissa para esta história é muito boa e foi escrita/desenhada de forma a proporcionar umas boas gargalhadas ao leitor, o que aconteceu no meu caso por diversas vezes.
Surpreendentemente e contra todas as minhas expectativas (pois sabia de antemão que este seria um argumento fortemente humorístico), promove também a reflexão sobre alguns temas mais profundos, quer na perspectiva individual, existencialista do super-herói alienado, quer social, das suas relações interpessoais e do seu papel enquanto indivíduo pertencente a uma sociedade, ou mesmo ainda uma reflexão global, sobre a espécie humana e as suas agressões ao planeta que habita.
Nestas páginas há muito sítio para "escavar" caso se queira pensar a coisa :) , caso contrário é rir e apreciar uma boa história com arte muito bonita. Não sei falar sobre o traço, sobre o desenho de forma comparativa, uma vez que nunca li outro mangá, mas gostei bastante. Gostei particularmente como alguns artifícios, alguns pequenos truques de desenho são utilizados, para fazer melhor passar a história ao leitor.
O que gostei menos:
- li a edição em português e fiquei com a sensação de que em inglês esta história resultaria melhor. Por vezes as traduções ficam demasiado "infantilizadas", experiência que tenho também quando fazem versões portuguesas dos jogos PS4, que "estragam" a experiência de jogo (aconteceu-me em vários títulos como por exemplo: a série Uncharted, The Order 1886, a série COD e Final Fantasy XV). No jogo é simples, é só mudar nas definições, mas aqui no manga não dá...
- demasiadas sequências de lutas (mas claro, é um livro de acção, de super heróis, tinha que ter muitas...aqui a culpa foi minha na escolha)
- dificuldade a integrar as onomatopeias...em vez de me imergirem mais na história tiveram em mim o efeito contrário de ter que parar para pensar como é que aquele som se integrava ali. Será que os mangás têm uma "fórmula" própria de onomatopeias ou serei apenas eu que não estou habituada a ler assim?...
Concluindo: um balanço super positivo! O bom pesou bem mais que o menos bom. Saitama, o herói deste mangá corre o sério risco de se vir a tornar o meu super herói preferido!... Mas é cedo...este é apenas o volume 1... :)

I've never liked anime. I've tried on numerous occasions to embrace it, but to no avail. Maybe it's because everything is so exaggerated, from the action to the emotional responses. I've always found it so obnoxious and annoying. My friends insisted I just wasn't watching the right animes, and I should keep at it. But I made my choice. And manga, well, that's just anime that doesn't move and comes with the added burden of reading back to front. This was a style I'd never fully embrace, and I was sure of that.
Then One-Punch Man came along and changed everything. After falling inexplicably in love with the Netflix series, I straight up bought the first 10 volumes of the manga. Everything about this series just tickled me the right way. The concept won me over instantly. There was no complicated backstory, it was just about a guy who became a hero for fun. Plus the satirical element allowed me to embrace anime while also laughing at the elements I previously disliked. One-Punch Man warmed my icy heart and allowed me to embrace a style I previous despised. I'm a better person because of it.
And here, with volume 1, is where it all began.

Meh.
Borrowed it from the library to see if I like other Shonen manga besides DB.
The first chapter was moderately entertaining, a tongue-in-cheek approach to shonen - but afterwards it just went tits up (literally, in the case of the mosquito girl) and turned out absolutely meh. All stories - if I can even call these stories, since there doesn't seem to be much of a plot involved - are more or less the same, following the same scenario, with little variety afforded only the monsters (which are actually quite skillfully drawn).
I know it's supposed to be a satire, but how long can you ride on a dead horse? And One-Punch Man seems very much a dead horse to me. There are monsters popping up left and right, with little to none exposition, only to be invariably defeated by the bald, emotionless protagonist a page or two later - simply because he, a twenty-something dude called Saitama, achieved his goal in life and became a master of martial arts, capable of ending any fight with one punch. And, I'm sorry to say, the manga follows the depth and emotions of its protagonist, flat-lining in the middle and never getting up again.
Next on the list - Naruto.

The next best thing after Attack on Titan. This manga is hilarious! the art style is great, the characters! You will fall in love with saitama!
this manga is a parody of all the shounen-action manga cliches. but it still has a foot hold of its own. and it pays homage to shounen demographic while making fun of it.

I watched the Anime a few years ago in horrified fascination. It was fun yet filled with dry humor and very droll. The manga is about the same. You would think a story about a super hero who can defeat any enemy with one punch would get boring fast. Yet here I am at the end of volume one and ready to see what happens next.

Considering the hype going amongst my guy friends on this manga. Yeah why not give it a try, I told myself. All in all it's a great & funny manga. Unlike any typical super hero we've seen, he is so simple.... Yeah... Read it.

Wow, first ever Manga and I gotta say it was pretty solid. The character “One Punch Man” himself is just funny as heck and love how he literally wins with one punch.

A great start, with some fun monster-of-the-week-type conflicts. Art is on point, and Saitama is an instantly likeable (and really funny) protagonist. Really keen to see where this goes.
