Have you ever wondered how to start an investment? This is where it stops! No, more concerns. Get a copy of this book, make a cup of coffee for yourself and begin your journey towards Wall Street and it's gigantic companies.
The name of the book stands for itself. Investing demystified is an easy and simple book for starters. It covers basic and important terms about investment in very simple and understandable sentences. Once you start reading this book, you will realize that things about investment are not that complicated and difficult. Once you learn the basics of stocks and bonds, different types of investment and various strategies, you will get inspired to put aside some money for your future in a form of investment. The best thing about this book is that it explains where you can start and how you can proceed.
What I really liked about this book was its pop quiz at the end of each chapter. Yeah! I know. There is now free lunch even if you read a book for fun. So yeah, you have to take a quiz at the end of each chapter to measure your understanding, and of course boost some self-confidence about the new things you have learned.
Once you are done with the whole book, there is one more thing. An exam! Surprise! There are 100 questions at the end of the book that gauges your overall understanding of 15 chapters. Like it or not, I do recommend taking this exam. It's fun to see how much you have learned by reading some 300 pages.
So, to make this review short, investing demystified is a must read if you are interested in investment and stock market but don't know where and how to start.
Get the book, read it, thank Paul J. Lim every time you learn something and get rich as you enjoy your read.
INVESTING DEMYSTIFIED: WORTH READING, IF YOU ARE WANTING TO UNDERSTAND THE BASIC LANGUAGE AND STRAGIES OF INVESTING. IT WAS HELPFUL AND EASY TO READ. INCLUDES LINKS/WEBSITES TO MORE INFORMATIVE INFORMATION TO CONTINUE LEARNING (MAJOR INVESTING FIRMS). GAVE ME KNOWLEDGE TO UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE ECONOMY TODAY AND HOW TO OFFSET THE LOSES WITH OTHER GAINS. HOW TO ADD PROTECTION AGAINST DOWN TIMES TO YOUR PORTFOLIO. DEFINITELY KNOW MORE NOW THAN BEFORE READING. SO ALL GOOD. FORMAT IS THAT OF A SCHOOL BOOK, CHAPTERS WITH EXAMS AT END OF EACH CHAPTER. SO YOU CAN TELL IF YOU DID COMPREHED WHAT YOU READ, AND IF NOT GO BACK AND READ IT AGAIN. YES I AM A NEOPHYTE WHEN IT COMES TO INVESTING BUT A MORE CONFIDENT NEOPHYTE NOW.
This is a pretty informative book, in that it covers a lot of material. But it uses an awfully lot of jargon for the lay reader. Also, the author doesn't believe in the order of operations, so pretty much every equation in the book is wrong. That's a pretty damning problem for an investing book written for regular people.
Good, basic information for a beginner to investing. This would be a good reference as you start. However, this book has a lot of editing mistakes and errors, which was distracting and it is somewhat out of date (from 2011), so some of the specifics have changed.
