Jonah Kincade doesn't care about many things, but Ericka Smith is on that short list. He's loved her since the moment they met. Even though he remembers it as 'heartbreak at first sight.' He adores her from afar and relishes in the bickering they do when they're in the same room. It doesn't matter if they're at each other's heads. At least she acknowledges him.

This dynamic has worked for years. Until he finds out about her most recent heartbreak, and takes matters into his own hands...

There is a reason why Shon is my favorite and this novella here shows why. It is not easy to find representation of depression where the individual does not seek professional help but this? This nailed it so perfectly. It hit so close to home that I wept several times during this read. Depression shows up so differently for everyone and to have a character depict what I feel on a cycled basis.. it just feels so good to be seen. Depressed girls need love and care too! Especially those who constantly have to show up for others

This story was literal perfection

Jonah Kincade is really one of them ones. The way this man met E where she was but also slowly pushed her while she was in a depressive episode. Love him for that!!

“E&J" has me completely invested from start to finish. I am so captivated by the way Jonah loves and cherishes Erika, it left me wishing I was her shoes. His unwavering protection and attention to her needs makes him the ultimate book boyfriend. Not to mention the added bonus of top tier “dique”that left her mesmerized. Erika's character resonated with me deeply - her desire for independence but also longing for someone to be there for her. I also related to her need for consistency and being prioritized in a relationship. Watching their relationship evolve throughout the story was a delight, as they both secretly yearned for each other but didn't confront their feelings until they were forced to. (Okay, maybe Erika more so than Jonah, but who's counting?) The author's portrayal of mental health in this book is incredibly detailed and well-done. As someone who has struggled with their own mental health, I felt seen and understood. Shon deserves praise for this book, as it serves as a testament to all the women who feel undeserving of love due to their circumstances. She shows us that love can bloom even in the most unexpected places. Overall, I adored this book and only wish it was longer. If you're a fan of brother's best friend romance with secret pining and a loving and affectionate male lead, then this book is a must-read.

Shon has done it again.
I didn’t think it was possible for me to love another male character as much as I loved Bash. Jonah however? I wonder if men like him actually exist. This man was so attentive, caring, loving, understanding, patient, sweet. I could go on for days.
Depression was explained really well and carefully, it was done with thoughtfulness and understanding.
I absolutely love these two. This story was so tender and right😭
The tension between these two? Yeah 10/10.

This book resonated in my soul. As someone who soulmate battles depression daily I'm happy this book didn't make light of the struggle. It showed that someone can make a difference in someone life just by showing up again and again and again. It's odd because I read this story and heard Papa Roach Leave a Light on all in the same day by chance.

It was alright but I really wish we got more of their relationship outside of the sexual chemistry, bc it seems like that’s all they did once they realized they were both attracted to one another on the beach.

Wish we got more of the deleted scene because that helped to show how down bad they were for one another.

All in all it was okay, not my favorite but not bad either.

Not my favorite Shon read, but I will always give into a book of hers blindly. The love was sweet, I think I just might be at a space where I need more time and more of a why behind the intrigue
