When he tries to run away from home and escape an arranged marriage, the last thing he expects is to fall in love with a robber in the woods. Hiding behind a mask, the robber girl seems to lead a life of freedom Sylas has only dreamed of. Their adventure comes to an end when the Castle Killeagh guards hunt Sylas down and he's forced to return home. He convinces his parents to allow him to find the girl again and consider her as a candidate for marriage, but he only has until the next full moon to find her, or all bets are off.

King Sionnach has far outlived his days and it is time he cross to the Unliving World. When she arrives, a young prince named Sylas intervenes and offers to go in his grandfather's stead. This break with tradition, and selfless sacrifice, move Crwys into loving Sylas, who looks so much like a shadow from her past. But when he crosses her to be with his true love, he invokes the wrath of a woman scorned.

Rós is just a little, aura-seeing, red hen whose master believes she is chosen by the gods. Her arrival at King Sionnach's court is insignificant to Sylas at the time, but their destinies are interwoven. Can she help Sylas save himself from the curse Crwys has planned for him? Or will he become a fallen frog prince?

**This review shouldn't contain any spoilers**

Fallen was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. Let me just say that all of my reviews are 100% honest all of the time, and I try to avoid spoilers for the most part. Now, on with my review...

Fallen, first and foremost, is a retelling of the Princess and the Frog fairy tale. Now, for me, I was intrigued, but that story had never been one I cared for. However, I was curious to see just how this story could be retold. All I can say is, I was very pleasantly surprised.

The story starts with Sylas Mortas, a prince who decides he's tired of being told what to do, when to do it, and basically having no freedom in how he lives his life. My first thought? Understandable, but you're a prince, so you just have to deal. Sylas, though, doesn't want to deal. So he runs away. Seems like a perfectly normal thing to do, right?

Along the way, he stumbles across a band of robbers who decide they're going to kidnap him and hold him for ransom. The ringleader of this little group happens to be female, and she warns Sylas not to fall in love with her. Easier said than done. One kiss is all it takes, after all.

Returning to his kingdom, Sylas is told he is to be married to a young woman. Although he loves the girl he met in the forest, he accepts his fate. What he doesn't know, though, is that this woman he is betrothed to will become his one true love.

Fate, however, has other things in store. When a banshee comes calling for his grandfather, Sylas strikes a deal with the woman. He goes in place of his grandfather, believing that once he fulfills whatever duties he is tasked with by the old hag, he will be able to return to his kingdom and live happily ever after with his bride.

Silly Sylas, unfortunately, has no clue that he's just made the biggest mistake of his entire life.

Now, I won't say anything more, as I'll get carried away and spoil everything for you lovely readers. That's one thing I don't want to do.

As for characters, I'll admit that the most intriguing one, and the one that happens to be my favorite, is a chicken. Yes, you read that right: a chicken. Trust me when I say that you will quite like said chicken, too.

Sylas is likeable enough, although he does have his moments where you want to smack him. Mostly because he tends to let his emotions rule his decisions, and that never turns out well for anyone, now does it? I definitely found myself drawn to Sylas, and I rather enjoyed his story.

Laittie, too, is a very likeable character. She's sweet, lovely, and you cant help but either want to be her, or just be her friend.

The banshee, Crwys, is probably the most easily hated character in the book. She's got secrets, and she's basically an all-around awful person. But she's also someone you kind of love to hate.

And lastly, Ros. Ros is just...she's wonderful. That's all I can say about her. You have to love her. No way around it. She grows on you.

The plot moves along at a nice pace and keeps you intrigued throughout the entire story. It's filled with action, adventure, love, loss, heartache, and death. It's a modern day fairytale mixed with hints of Shakespeare(think Romeo and Juliet, but slightly different) and something from The Brothers Grimm. That's how I see it, anyway.

I also want to quickly add that I absolutely adore the font on the cover. It's fun and fresh. I quite like it.

I can honestly say, without a doubt, that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It made me love the story of The Princess and the Frog so much more now. I highly recommend it, and I'd rate it a solid 4 stars.

Pick up a copy and start reading it today. You won't regret it.

Once upon a time, there was a prince....

Okay. I'm going to stop right there. Sure, this is a fairy tell retelling. But this one is so far different then fairy tales that I'm going to skip over the ever so typical Once upon a time spiel, because that's ordinary. This story is so far from ordinary...Wow.

I found out about this author through a reviewer friend who has absolutely loved her stories. I'm a sucker for fairy tale retellings, so...here I am. I have not read the first two set in the same world, but after reading Fallen, I'm going to be following up very soon with the other two stories.

I was very impressed with this story. The characters are richly developed. The story is full of emotions- not always good, mind you, because there were times I was angry with characters (Mainly the 'not so good guys') I was drawn to Sylas from the start. He's a price who just wants to be able to make decisions for himself. Then, just when he's found love and everything might work out after all, he makes a decision which changes things. An act of selflessness takes Sylas on a dark and deadly journey. Oh man were there some twists and turns in the story. The multiple points of view in the story was a great aspect. There's even a point of view from, get this- a chicken. Yes, a chicken! No denying that one had me curious. I'm thinking....what in the WORLD does this have to do with the story? Ann Hunter has drawn me into her world with sharp imagery that pulls me right into the story. I think anyone of all ages can enjoy Fallen and I definitely recommend it. I think I've found a new author to watch!

Ok Fallen is the retelling of the Frog Prince. Ann takes us on a fun ride as she retells the story of the princess and the frog. There is a prince, a band of robbers, Death or yeah and an aura reading chicken. Yes I said a aura reading chicken. Trust me you will laugh at that dang chicken.
Ok now back to the review. Ann takes us on a twisted tale which is dark
Starts out with Sylas a young prince that wants to live his own life and went out on his own to find his way. But alas he is kidnapped by a band of robbers. Offered back to his parents for a ransom. The leader of this little band of robbers is a woman , who tell Sylas not to fall in love with her but all it takes is one kiss and he falls in for the little woman in the woods
When he gets home he is told he has to marry another woman. But he can not forget his love in the woods. Sylas will do his honor and marry the girl.
Until Death shows up and Sylas steps in to take his grandfather's place and is sent on the adventure of his life. Which is very deadly in some ways. He wonders what will happen and he wants to go home. He keeps Ros the aura reading chicken she keeps crossing his paths at important moments
Ros is so fricken hilarious. You will love her.

The story moves along fast I read it in one evening. I laughed everytime Ros showed up .
The story moved along at a fast pace and all Ann's characters are well written and you will fall in love with all of them .
This retelling is just twisted enough for those you like twister fairy tales will love Fallen
So if you want a great twisted fairy tales . Fallen by Ann Hunter is the book to read

An ARC of this Book Was Given To Me in September By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

You expect the author of paranormal books to have a good imagination, but as you will find when you read the story, Ann Hunter’s is exceptional. So much so that I found it necessary to read the last section twice just to make sure I had understood what was happening.
The synopsis tell you the story, but it really only scratches the surface – there is so much more to it. All of the characters are larger than life, one example being a chicken, Ros, who develops human level intelligence and befriends the hero. This book is worth reading just for her story, but you will enjoy far far more than just that. There is, as you will expect, a continuing battle of the evil of the ban sidhe against the inherent good of the central character but the outcome will surprise you or at least it did me.
It is a true page turner in that you know you will only learn of the fate of the characters if you read every page carefully: miss a few and you will be lost. I did just this as I could not work out how the hero Sylas was going to be reunited with the love of his life, especially as the more I read the more hopeless his cause seemed. I thoroughly recommend it.

I REALLY want to read this especially after reading a previous book by the author

***Update***

I Really enjoyed this story very much. This is a retelling of The Prince and The Frog, a story in which I have actually never read, but I really enjoyed this. I read this book in one sitting everything about it totally drew me in. The characters, the plot, and the story. I can't express how much I enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait to go back in read Moonlight. I don't know if these are a series or just companion novels either way I was able to read this one without feeling too confused.

I think My favorite part of this novel is the author transferred me from reality into the world she built. I love when I can get lost in a novel like that! I think the only thing I really didn't enjoy about this book is the cover. Cover art is a big deal for me, its what draws me in, but don't judge a book by its cover well worth the read!

I received this book an exchange for an honest review and I’ll be honest it is not a normal read for me but I really became intrigued once I started getting into the story. It was nicely written and easy to follow and you immediately get attached to the characters. So let’s talk about them a little:
The story starts with Sylas a prince who decides he's tired of being told what to do, when to do it, and basically having no freedom in how he lives his life so he runs.
Along the way, he stumbles across a band of robbers who decide they're going to kidnap him and hold him for ransom once finding out who he is. The ringleader of this little group happens to be female, and she warns Sylas not to fall in love with her.
Upon returning to his home he is informed of his upcoming arranged marriage, however he believes he has fallen for the women he meet while being held captive
However fate has other plans.
Laittie is a very likeable character, Crwys, is the most easily hated character in the book. She's got secrets, and she's an awful person. And Ros who again is completely loveable

I have to say right off that this is a very strange book. I'm absolutely not saying it's bad, it's just strange. In chapter one, I was reading a story about a prince running away & getting captured by  robbers, of which of course he falls in love with. In the second chapter, I was suddenly reading about a couple hens about to get slaughtered. At this point I thought I was reading a book of short stories. But back into the 3rd chapter and we're talking about the prince again, and the hen... who reads auras by the way, who is now part of the prince's story, and now so is a Ban Sidhe.

That just gives you an idea how the book plays. It really stuck out to me even at the end of the book.

This is a very twisted tale. The author has a great imagination. The strangeness really draws you in, and you want to find out what happens next. I have to say, I don't know the story of The Frog Prince, so this is just a paranormal story to me without any background of what's supposed to happen. I think it's well written, and the author is a good story teller.

The book is fun, and flows fast. You really need to read the first two books in this series, The Subtle Beauty & Moonlight, before reading Fallen, which I have not. I am going to read the first 2 books, and possibly the one that comes after this, A Piece of Sky. #arc

Ann Hunter is a new author to me and this is a fantastic story. Sylas is a prince who runs from his kingdom and from an arranged marriage he’s only 17 years old and he wants a bit of freedom, he runs into a robber who takes him prisoner and also takes his breath away. When the robber finds out who he is she tells him to go back to the castle and he does but he pleads with his father to go and look for the woman that stole his heart instead of being in a loveless marriage and his father agrees to give him some time, but Sylas can’t find her so feeling dejected he goes back to get ready for his arranged marriage. But when Sylas finds out that he is to marry the robber who is actually a princess he is thrilled. And that my friends is just the beginning of this story and that’s all I’m going to give but there is so much more to this story to keep you entertained and turning the pages. This is a fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

What possible connection could Death, a young prince and a small red hen have in the world of fairytales? Fallen by Ann Hunter re-tells the Frog Prince story with more than one dark twist to pull at your heart strings. A young prince, longing for the freedoms of his subjects, to love, to live one’s own life, leaves his castle and his responsibilities behind in frustration. Is it the restlessness of youth crying to be heard? Prince Sylas finds the woman of his dreams, but he is betrothed to a stranger. Will he be destined to live a life of duty without his true love who taught him to give?

In a true act of love, Death comes for the king, and Sylas offers himself up in his grandfather’s place, but what unfolds afterward is the thing of fairytales, love and nightmares as his true love is forever just out of his reach, possibly for eternity, no matter what bargains he makes with Death. What hold does he have on this dark creature? Is it possible she has mistaken him for another who betrayed her?

As Ros, the hen who sees other being’s auras continues to cross paths with Sylas through his nightmarish journeys, their friendship becomes strong and the lessons he learns from her become the things of legends. Will their unusual friendship come to an abrupt stop through the jealousies of Death scorned or will Sylas finally find all he has longed for, including freedom from Death’s curse? A man or a Frog Prince, the decision will be Sylas’.

Creative, delightfully dark, endearingly sweet, Ann Hunter has created another fantasy fairytale like none ever heard before. Get ready for her characters to come alive, to be neither all good, nor all evil and to defy the laws of life and death all in the name of love and friendship. Once again, Ann Hunter has created a touch of magic in the literary world.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC edition from Ann Hunter in exchange for my honest review.

For the third time this year, Ann Hunter has produced a masterpiece: this time in her twisted retelling of the “frog and the princess” in Fallen.
Fallen is the bow that wraps up the package that Ann started in The Subtle Beauty and wrapped ever so delicately with Moonlight. Fallen tells the tales of Sylas Mortas and Ros, the chicken who thinks she is more than that.
The tale opens with Sylas running off to avoid being subject to an arranged marriage. Along the way, he falls for a beautiful robber who takes him prisoner and demands that he return to the king for ransom. Reluctantly, Sylas agrees and goes back, dejected that he has lost “the love of his life.”
Once back at the castle, Sylas demands that he be given a chance to find “the love” instead of being forced into a live of loveless marriage, as he supposed that the arranged marriage would be. Reluctantly, the father agrees and gives him until the next holiday to find her or be forced into the marriage.
The holiday comes and there is no sign of the robber. Sylas resigns himself to the future, only to find out that the marriage was arranged to the robber, who was secretly a princess from another region. He happily looks forward to the wedding after finding out this revelation.
The first twist of the book happens when Sylas’ grandfather is faced by a witch. Without giving away too much, Sylas takes his grandfather’s place, and this is a twist that causes ripples thru the rest of the book, even leading to who dies.
After the witch takes Sylas he begins to learn magic, and this is the part of the book that ties in to the other two books of Ann’s writing, as she explains how things were from Sylas’ perspective.
I mentioned Ros, as the chicken who thought she is more than that. Her story is intermingled throughout the book, and she helps to keep Sylas human during much of his tutelage under the witch, and it makes for entertaining backstory. I have heard there is to be a separate story of Ros coming out, and I thoroughly look forward to its unveiling.
As is the case with all of Ann’s writing, this book sucks you in from the first page and you do not want to put it down. It is a story of morality and mortality, death and life, and how choices affect not just your life, but others around you. It is definitely worth your money to pick up this book and it would make another good bedtime story to read to your children.

Holy crazy chickens! I hardly know where to even start!

First off, fellow readers--if you have NOT read Moonlight or The Subtle Beauty---DO NOT READ FALLEN YET!!! In order to fully appreciate THIS book, you NEED to read the other 2 first. Seriously, not kidding!

Ann Hunter has an imagination the knows no boundaries. You can take every Grimm Fairy tale, a few nursery rhymes, and the movie Labyrinth all thrown into a pot to jumble up. The outcome of that MIGHT be close to what Fallen is. Sylas Mortas, the emotional roller coaster that character has put me through during these tales is just....GAH!! I hate him, then I admire him, laugh with him, then adore him, end up back to hating with a touch of loathe approaching. Pity....oh my gosh the pity is heavy! Crwys....no liking for that one period! I wanted to reach through the words and smack her so many times. I mean she IS a Witch, but I was still thinking "Gah, what a nasty witch!". I learned to understand her some as the book went on, but never reached a point where I said 'I like her' as I did with Sylas.

Despite the engaging make-believe of this tale, there is a very serious side as well. It is like the folk tales of old, in which the purpose of telling was to teach a lesson. There are so many possible lessons approached within the Crowns of the Twelve series, that by the end you are left uncertain WHO they are truly for or WHAT was even learned. At times it felt there was so much happening and so quickly that it seemed to blur by. Which may have been intentional by the author, as real life CAN seem to be a blur at times.

Plus there is the chicken...many times of saying to myself 'What is with this chicken?' 'Why the chicken again?'. I grew to LOVE the chicken. She had me laughing and then crying.

Thank you Ms. Hunter for such a wonderfully exciting tale! I highly recommend this book, er, the whole series actually! :)

"Once upon a time, I fell in love. Madly, deeply. With my whole being. I'd do anything for the girl who robbed me of my heart.
I tried to save her...
But Darkness came. The ban sidhe, Crwys, death herself, wants me for her own. She thinks I am someone from her past, and she will not rest until I submit.
I have secrets. Some I can barely live with myself for, and every night I dream of two women. One I cannot save, the other I cannot escape...."
--Prince Sylas of Killeagh

Ann Hunter has written a wonderful tale in her fantastical retelling of the Frog and the Princess. The story begins with Prince Sylas running off to avoid an arranged marriage. Like many royals his bride has been decided by the families. On his journey, he encounters a band of robbers who kidnap him and hold him for ransom. The leader of this group is Laittie, and after one kiss between the captor and the prince, they have “fallen.” During this time, Sylas’ grandfather, a man Sylas loves and reveres, has been called upon by death, Crwys. Cryws is the woman who takes the lives of those whose time has come to an end. Sylas, who loves his grandfather, takes his place. From here the story shoots off on wild ride of fate, courage, understanding power, and the meaning of life.
As I ventured into this story I wondered “wait, they have met, are in love so what is this story going to be about?” Hunter weaves a tale of a fantastical world that literally blends between the realms of the living and non-living. She has painted a story of love, fealty, revenge, toil, death and friendship. I was very impressed with this story as the characters are so richly developed. The plot moves along at a decent pace considering its complexity and style of writing. What I liked most is at each corner is the twist. As soon as you thought you knew where Hunter might go with the prince’s life she makes an expected turn. If you love fantasy fiction, this book is for you!

I was given this book for free to share my honest opinion.

I have read 2 of Ann Hunter's books so far. I have to say I keep hoping against hope that they will get better, that the characters will begin to flesh out. That the motivations behind the villains will be explained. I even want those moments where her characters fall in love in a chapter to be explained. What do they see in each other? What is so powerful between them that they will go beyond death to unite with each other? Even the motivations behind the Fae is just confusing. It was a lot of jumping around kill the villain, don't kill the villian, destroy her power, now you need to sleep with the villain. The plot is very weak, to be honest, and loosely based on the frog prince. Sylas doesn't even turn into a frog until you are about 50% through the book.

I kept hoping things would change, emotions would be raw and perhaps you could really see Sylas crumbling and becoming the man "Sylas Mortas" instead we see a man suffering through betrayal and quick to enter his roll. He is betrayed over and over again and it appears he handles it well. Which is not an effective plot device. If he were to be so down and schemeing to defeat his enemy you would think he would show his suffering more. In the end, he goes against everything he stands for and stays with the villain. I'm left wondering what the heck is going on here?

While I applaud Hunter for unfolding the history of Sylas and tying it into her first couple of stories. I still found her telling of Sylas fractured and disjointed. I wanted to see Sylas slowly corrupt and be a true anti-hero yet there was so much about him that left me lacking.

If you wish to get this book there are some sex scenes that would cause me to suggest this at a much older teen or young adult.

I'm sure her books will improve in the future but I have no further interest in reading the rest of the series.

*I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review.*

For Sylas Mortas happily ever after is not meant to be. Once upon a time Sylas fell madly in love with Ciatllait. Sylas tried with all his heart to save the girl who robbed him of his heart.

I loved Subtle Beauty by this author. Then I didn't love Moonlight quite as much, but still enjoyed it. Fallen so far has been my least favorite read by this author. I was really engrossed in the beginning that is until Ros came in. Ros is a chicken and this is a retelling of The Frog Prince. I had littler interest in his character and he didn't fit very much in the story.

I fell in love with Ciatllait (Laittie) as a character and when she was in part of the scene this book shined. Most of the first 50% of this book I was bored with Sylas story. I understand he was heart broken, but there wasn't a strong storyline. Then once I got past 50% the book really picked up and I was so interested in Sylas's nigthmare. Sylas makes a deal with Crwys that is selfish and takes him away from his love. Sylas's spends most of the book trying to get back to Laittie. Some part of this book were so emotionally heartbreaking.

I was very intrigued in the last little bit when Hunter mixed in the story of Moonlight into Fallen. I'm glad I finished Moonlight before reading this book. I will say that Fallen was not by favorite by Ann Hunter, but I do enjoy her as an author and will continue to read her books. Although I didn't overly enjoy Fallen. I think it was okay and was still worth reading for me. I will continue reading this author's books.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. review for 2 girls who love books. # Bella..

this is the first book I have read from Ann Hunter and previously I hadn't read any of her books and since this was book 3 I was worried that I would be confused. but this wasn't the case and can be read as a standalone.. the age range of this book is 14 above and I would defo say that it is aired at this age range or for those who love the different side to fairy tales.. as I am a huge fan of the tales of brothers Grimm Anne hunted adaptation of this classic tale of the frog prince was really fun and a new complete spin..

it all starts with a once upon a time... and a happily ever after... or is it... enter a world of madness. and crazy and a essentric chicken. I want one... hahahaa... yes I said a chicken which to me is the character ros is the highlight of the whole book.

you laugh.. you cry.. your anger and temper are tested... you fall into the rabbit hole of complete madness but honestly I loved this book.. so well done Ann Hunter.. coz this was a book I was a little hestitent about but once started to read you just get completely captured.. if you love different spins on fairy tales then please take a chance on this epic read.. and you will be FALLEN under a wicked spell.

If you think this is just another fantasy novel, you will be surprised by the intensity which this young author deliver in her book. The story starts as a classical tale of a princess trying to escape from an arranged marriage and ended up being captured by some robbers and fall in love with their leader. But from there on, the sequence of events is well elaborated and I guarantee will keep your attention until the last page is turned and you will be begging for more. This is a beautiful tale of love, sacrifice and friendship, that defies even death.
Even a red hen plays an important role in this story. Lovely Rós is a chicken with a mind of her own, and she calls herself a wild chicken. Very inspirational, her attitude is one of the highlights of this book.
I recommend this book to the permanent library of readers of all ages that appreciate a well written fantasy book. They will not be disappointed.
I received this book from the author for reviewing it and I was not requested to post a positive review. Opinion expressed here is my own.

Fallen is Ann Hunter’s most complex and imaginative book so far. It tells the story of Prince Sylas, a seventeen-year-old who will do anything to free the girl he loves from the clutches of a witch named Crwys. Fallen is a companion novel to The Subtle Beauty and Moonlight. I’d strongly recommend reading those other two books first. Sylas is a complicated character who is easy to both love and hate, but the star of the book is definitely Rós, a magic chicken who becomes Sylas’s only friend. Fallen is intricately plotted, unpredictable, fast-paced, and full of smart dialogue. It has a great message about the powers of love and friendship. Many of the scenes have a surreal quality which I really admired. Overall, this book is a very entertaining read.

Wow! I was really blown away by this wonderful book! This is definitely Ann Hunter's best one yet. I was completely captivated and found it extremely hard to put this book down. I absolutely love how this story ties in neatly with The Subtle Beauty and Moonlight. I found Sylas's story completely intriguing and my heart really felt for him and his touching story. I though he was some cold monster in the first two books and was pleasantly surprised to find out how....human he was and all of his heartrending trials. The writing was excellent, the descriptions were realistic and the storyline was believable. I thoroughly enjoyed Fallen from start to finish and am eagerly anticipating reading some more of Ann Hunter's books!

I absolutely enjoyed the third book in the Crowns of the Twelve series’Fallen’. Ann Hunter is so clever in re imagining classic fairy tales. They are so unique, and so different from the original fairy tales that I found that I could not put the books down. Unlike the first two books ‘A Subtle Beauty’ and ‘Moonlight’. I do not feel this book is appropriate for elementary aged children due to the romantic scenes. My cheeks were blushing, but this is no ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ book either.
I really enjoyed how each book filled in more backstory of certain characters. I found that to be very interesting.

This book is fascinating from start to finish. I literally could not put it down once I picked it up. She makes the characters jump of the pages. The author has the ability to make you vested in the journey the characters take, particularly Sylas. And the humor is rather cute. All in all it was well worth my time and a fascinating delight to read. Tugs at the heart strings as well. The author does what all good books are suppose to do. She makes us laugh and cry as we have become part of the story.

"once upon a time, a prince fell in love"

Fallen is an immediate page-turner. Sylas is a character that is hard to not like. Exciting fairytale and folklore that builds up the characters so much that even Death is its own character. Hunter has a large imagination and her ability to tell a remarkable story is exceptional. An incredible love story is build upon a prince's journey. The humor of the characters and how even the "chicken" was likeable, shows how wonderful a story this is. "once upon a time, a prince fell in love" and it continues from there.

Fallen is a beautiful and heart wrenching story of love and loss. This delightfully dark retelling of the Princess and the Frog will keep you surprised by the unexpected twists and turns this adventure takes. You will cry along with the characters, especially the charming and adorable chicken Ros, as they struggle to make a peaceful life with the evil Cryws always nearby. Ann Hunter has created another poetic and bold story, definitely her best yet, and I look forward to her future books!

Hard to get into

This book is written well but it is hard to get into. I have read the other books in the series and like them a lot. This book is my least favorite of the series. It drags on and it seems really repetitive. Sylas spends the book going between the word of the living and the dead. He loses everyone he cares about and is forever changed. *I received this book for free in exchange for an honest unbiased review. This has not influenced my opinions on the book.

This book was bittersweet. I really like how the author has started from the end of the story and is slowly working her way back. That puts a very different perspective on a lot of things that have happened. I really love how she's blended fairy tales with fae. It's interesting and it just sucks you in all the more. Can't wait to see where this all goes!

I only got through the first chapter of this one. I was not a fan of the writing style and there wasn't enough enticement from the blurb to keep going.
