Pediatricians and nature experts Pooja Tandon and Danette Swanson Glassy make the convincing case that children and families will be happier, healthier, and more resilient when they spend time in nature. They offer a wealth of suggestions for nature-based activities and suggestions for overcoming common challenges busy families face when trying to increase their outdoor time. The authors address the importance of nature for children' s health at every age from infancy through adolescence and link their suggested activities to key developmental milestones. 3.5 rounded up - the extra half star is really just because I love and care about this topic so much

What is it: P.T. and D.G. discuss the importance of kids spending time in nature, the many, many heath benefits of spending time in nature; ways to plan for safety and accommodate health restrictions to optimize nature time; ideas for activities and book suggestions for both younger and older kids.

What I liked: The positive tone really helped me feel empowered to keep getting my girls outside and to do so even more. The kids are alright.

What I didn't like: a small bias in discussing the Pacific NW since that is where both authors are from. A little vague on details for some suggested activities, and instead of directions to resources, it just directs you to an internet search.

The takeaway: Get your kids into nature. Now! You'll be glad you did.

What a great book. I found this book very informative regarding getting kids back to enjoying nature. I can't wait to get my grandchildren and take them on some outdoor adventures instead of letting them sit in front of a computer and television. Dr. Tandon and Dr. Glassy share many ways to bring nature into your kids' lives. I look forward to putting the many ideas in this book into practice. Highly recommend!
