A brief and critical (although fair) assessment of the short tortured life of German genius Friedrich Nietzsche. Like Anthony Ludovici's book on the life of Nietzsche, this is a worthy read for those looking for a short yet insightful read on the man that changed the way Europeans (and the rest of the world) looked at the meaning of existence (among other things, of course).

Das Buch beschäftigt sich in erster Linie mit dem Leben und der Person Friedrich Nietzsche, deswegen hat mir die Monografie auch so gefallen. In der Buchreihe wird man bei Philosophen gerne mit der kompletten Breitseite ihrer Philosophie erschlagen. Nicht hier. Es wird aus den Werken zitiert, aber nicht zu viel und nur wenn es in den Rahmen passt. Ich fands sehr gelungen und gut zu lesen.

Ziemlich oberflächliche und schlecht ausbalancierte Darstellung, die so gut wie alles schuldig bleibt, zuallererst eine Begründung der Faszination, die dieser Denker auf die Nachwelt ausgeübt hat. Oft fällt Frenzel ein Urteil ohne vorherige Analyse der Werke.

A very descript account of nietzsche's personal life and its influence upon his philosophic inclinations. Though at times the book does divulge into the irrelevance and fails to elaborate on the important concepts that also took root within his lifetime

It was by no means a comprehensive biography, but interesting nonetheless. I enjoyed the photos of young Nietzsche. The mustache really does him well. Does a good job explaining the man's demeanor.

This is an entertaining introductory biography of Friedrich Nietzsche. Kaufmann and Hollingdale's biographies are better, but this has the advantage of many illustrations. The newer edition is worth obtaining.
