In the highly anticipated follow-up to last year’s Poems, Epigrams & Aphorisms, three-time New York Times bestselling author Atticus is inviting readers to take a deeper look behind the mask as he continues his powerful journey inward in search of love, peace, and acceptance.
LVOE. Volume II is an expanded exploration of self-love, meditation, meaning, loss, and romance from the internet’s favorite poet. Atticus implores his instantly recognizable lyrical style, gorgeous illustrations, and relatable themes to once again dazzle readers, inspiring them to look within. This collection will feature all-new poems, each paired with beautiful sketches that bring the words alive from the page.
LVOE. Volume II looks forward, backward, but most importantly inward to the often confusing yet hopeful human experience.
I don't dream to write The greatest poem That gas ever been written I only dream to write A few simple words That could make someone For a moment Feel a little less alone
This is written on one of the last pages of LVOE vol. 2. And I suppose it's really something that Atticus sticks to, because, well, "a few simple words" really describes his whole poetry. Almost all of his poems feel like they have absolutely no depth and sound as if they're written by a high schooler.
However, that wouldn't be the end of the world if it wasn't for the bigger problem, which is the repetitiveness. If you've read LVOE vol. 1, then consider that you've read this one as well. And not only is it repetitive with the previous volume, but it quickly gets repetitive with itself too. Every few pages I felt like I had already read that a minute ago.
Thanks for the experience, but it'll will be my last.
„She never saw the beautiful girl who everybody else seemed to see all she saw were the scars and imperfections screaming back at her in the mirror that she would never be enough that she could never be beautiful - and she always wondered why the whole world would lie to her and only this mirror tell the truth.“
&
„In the grand forest of my soul there is a place I know with a meadow where the sun shines and the wild roses and bluebonnets bloom where the long grass waves in the warm breeze of summer and in the center a small tree stands alone with spring petals blooming brightly year-round- this is who you are within me you are for now and always the warm summer meadow of my soul.“
Always a treat to find that a new Atticus collection has dropped. And, lo and behold, this time around it turns out he decided that the absolute gutter shit that was LVOE necessitated a Volume II. Never one to disappoint, Atticus delivers more gutter shit — just embarrassing statements of self-evidence under the delusion that a glut of bad metaphors and some nature imagery doth poetry make.
Some days / she was the flower / some days she was the storm / but always she was the / meadow / and it is the meadow that I / love.
I do love my Atticus books, and I will always appreciate the words he writes, but they do after a while tend to blend together. I found a few nuggets in this one--but I definitely took my time through the process of reading it more than I have in past collections.
I usually love love love Atticus' poetry. However, this collection was less striking to me as others. There were still beautiful pieces that struck me right in the heart or mind, just fewer than usual.
From what I remember, I think I liked The Dark Between Stars better, but it doesn’t look like I tracked that one here or reviewed it in books that I have read. I’ll have to see if I can find my copy and give it a reread.
There was one piece in this collection, however, that I made note of, planning to jot it into my “magical journal”/Book of Shadows:
“The world around us is a perfect reflection of of our innermost thoughts and beliefs a reminder that the power to create our reality lies within the minds of every one of us.”
I’ve heard/read similar ideas many times before (“As within, so without,” etc.). Still, I guess I wanted a takeaway from the experience of having read this book.
I’ll admit I was taken in by the holographic lettering on the cover. Rainbows, glitter, glow in the dark, purple, and now apparently reflective holographs, are all great things to get me to buy something. It is a beautiful cover.
4.75 out of 5 stars: Yes, I did take a minute to finish it, but that is the beauty of poetry you can pick it up whenever you need it most. Poetry is my haven and my safe place that quiets my mind even more than fiction can.
There was poems here that made me realize I will survive my heart break, and be lucky enough to love again. That I will love myself again. Yes, these poems were more simple than Atticus's others but I still found hope and beauty when I needed it the most. (unrelated to the content I am unhappy with the writing after picking it up 3 times it is falling apart =( ) I will forever read Atticus's poetry if he gives us more.
I have every one of this authors books and love them so much that some of them are almost fallen apart due to how much I continue to return to read them all over again. I love Atticus and his stunning way of putting emotion on pages for all of us to read and feel. For an example of one of his many beautifully written poems this one stuck out to me the most.
Her soul was a garden Blooming with hope And with each new day She tended to its weeds and wounds Bringing it ever slowly Back to life.

I have made it through the first three chapters (Her, Love, and Hope) and have to say that I am perplexed by the change I see in this book from the first LVOE. This is my second book by Atticus and from what I can see reading this, not only is he in a different stage of life, but his writing is. This book seems to be less focused only on the love for his wife, but a love for humanity and art that I find heartwarming. The art style in this book has changed, but I find it fitting to the change in writing agenda and style.
"maybe we are all just stories waiting to be read by someone we love."
"to love someone is to see the world through their eyes to feel their pain their pasts and to hold those little secrets safely in our hands as carefully as if they were our own."
"I am little pieces of all the people and all the places I have ever known and each piece has made me a little bit more who I am."
"give me some old friends laughing in the desert underneath the stars— and I will show you the meaning of this wild and precious life."
I've really enjoyed watching and reading the evolution of Atticus's poetry over the years. I loved so many of these poems, and when I have the book in front of me, I'll have to quote a few that really felt like they reflected my own thoughts and experiences. Not all poetry is for each reader, and though there were poems that I didn't relate to at all, I could still appreciate what he was doing. I mean, it made me cry, so good on ya.
I read the first volume of Lvoe at a time when I felt like I had no love. When I read it I kept the memory and thought of the book within my minds for all the months until I got the second volume. I’ve healed and I’ve grown so much since the first story and can nowt truly take in these magical poems. I’ll most likely carry this volume with me throughout my healing journey as well. I highly recommend both of these volume.
Atticus continues to impress me every damn time. He evokes so much emotion in just a few simple lines that makes me feel connected to every word. His words always make me flashback to specific moments in time that feel nostalgic or reminiscent of the different versions of love I've experienced in my life.
I am FOREVER a fan. I will never get tired of his written words.
Another beautiful poetry collection from Atticus (Atticus Poetry), one of my favorite poets. I am amazed by his poetry, the way how he writes about love is inspiring and relatable, and I keep coming back to his books over and over again. His poetry found its way to my heart and is there to stay.
This one felt a bit like some of the darker scraps leftover from the first book-“Lvoe”, which I consider a complete masterpiece, and Atticus’ best work along with “The Truth About Magic”. There were some poems of course that I connected with, but as a whole these felt a bit too generic for me personally.
Atticus will forever be one of my favourite authors! To feel truly heard and seen when you are alone is incredible. He writes about the good and the bad, the love and the loneliness, the full and the empty. He writes about life. He writes about the things that we are sometimes to scared to face, puching us to reflect. I already can’t wait for the next book🫶🏻
Atticus is hands down my favorite poet, and Volume II of LVOE might be my favorite of his published works. It made me remember wonderful people, beautiful places, and deep emotions that I haven’t touched in a long time. Loved every poem, every page, every moment I spend within this book. Highly recommend!
I selected this book and read it while riding the stationery bike at the gym. Oh my goodness... I LVOED this collection! Finding new-to-me authors is like meeting a new friend. I'm definitely fangirling (no shame in my reading game) and will be checking out-if not purchasing-his other collections. Thank you, Atticus--this is exactly what I needed today. xo
I am obsessed with Atticus' poetry. You can literally feel the love emanating off of the pages, the devotion in the writing. It's such beautiful writing. The images within the book are so complementary to the style of the poems. Wonderful! If you like reading love poetry, you have to have Atticus in your collection.
