I rated "The Clock Problem: How to Tell Time" a 3 out of 5 stars. This story goes through teaching the chicken how to tell time to escape the farmer. The other animals through out the story from learning to tell time to the nearest 10, 5 and then the minute. This story provided a fun and different way to teach students about telling time.
I would use this story in a third grade classroom to teach how to tell time. I plan to use this for my interactive read aloud lesson. I will use this to help close the unit on telling time to the nearest 5 minute. This comic will introduce telling time to the nearest minute.
I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars due to it being in a comic setting. I personally do not like the way it is set up so that is why I rated it less.
Our intrepid trio of mathematically inclined farm animals return and this time the task is to teach Chicken how to tell time. Another funny addition to the Hilariously Simple Math series with Goat and Sheep delivering the lesson through comical characters and simple explanations. Back matter explains the difference between analog and digital clocks. Perfect introduction to clocks for the younger set. Thank you Edelweiss and Claven Publishing for the ARC.
Cute way to teach how to tell time on an analog clock. The busyness of the pages makes it a bit hard to follow, especially with the speech bubbles overlapping other sections of the comic book style. But there are funny moments that kids will love, and if someone reads with them and more thoroughly explains how telling time works, I think this book would be a really good tool to help illustrate this skill.
Farm animals teach kids how to tell time. It was a pretty silly story about a chicken needing to tell time because he has to be somewhere at 10. But I think having a lesson wrapped into the story will help some kids ingest the info easier. Did explain how to tell time well, and many kids don't learn how to tall time with clock hands, so pretty useful.
I love picture books that help teach mathematical concepts, and while this one addresses the tricky concept of learning to tell time, it's convoluted with lots of other stuff making it a little distracting to read.
