The two main characters tugged at my heart through the entire story. Cardiothoracic surgeon Dominic Romeo Del Vecchio, was raised by nannies and never really knew his parents. He excelled at surgery, but has never been part of a couple and had no plans to be so. Hannah McGrath, an OR nurse, followed her own path, rather than the stay-at-home mom her parents wanted her to be. When they met at a gala, their attraction was intense, but their intimacy interrupted. He tried to find a reason not to hire her, but can they agree to be friends who support each other? Hannah is not a push over and challenges him when needed. When he learns that his father is gravely ill, she offers her support and he needs this; he needs her. When a “glitch” occurs in their friends with benefits situation, can he be there for her or will his earlier feelings of standing on his own keep them apart? A beautiful, emotional story with charming characters and that perfect touch of humor. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
