Joey Cavello, a man with a terminal illness, enters a hospice where he picks up on strange occurrences, such as the mysterious occupant of the second floor, a thing with a terrible origin, and the strange and impenetrable fog that surrounds the place, keeping the residents trapped like a holding pen.
And what about the cruelly judgmental blind administrator, who appears to be omniscient?
Cavello bands together with other residents to try and unveil the hospice’s dark and supernatural secret. But can they solve its sinister mystery before they are eternally damned? The clock is ticking.

Hospice is a heavy book to read. No humor, just unending dread and melancholy. And I may have shed some tears at the end. My favorite character was Milo. I could see him in my mind, big and burly and even though he had to be tough you definitely could sense the good in him. I will say that the first half of the book was maybe a little too descriptive. Some words repeating several times in a few paragraphs, but that didn't deter me from reading. As soon as Joey arrived at Transitions I was all in and needed to find out what the mystery is. Not fast paced, a slow burn if you will, but definitely worth the read.
