It's The Best There Is and the Merc With A Mouth as Wolverine and Deadpool have to team up aginst a new threat - but hopefully they don't kill each other first!
They’re the most intensely mismatched team-up in comics and pop culture — reunited for an all-new edge of your seat adventure! Yes, Wade Wilson and Logan are at the ends of the Earth — and at each other’s throats! The mysterious Delta believes in change. Change is good. But as he sets his sights on Deadpool, and Wolverine finds himself caught up in the plot, is the third time really the charm…or the curse? Get ready for WWIII to erupt on the scene with the wildest pairing in comics!
Don’t be fooled by Deadpool’s top-billing; this is primarily a Wolverine story.
Now, normally, Joe Kelly’s Deadpool is my favourite Deadpool… but this? This story was a mess. Poorly defined antagonists, poorly explained plot elements, nonsensical shinola all over the place.
This is just about worth reading for Adam Kubert’s artwork and Adam Kubert’s artwork alone.
The formula is simple. Deadpool and Wolverine = violence. The book is even called WWIII it just does not deliver. Good artwork, the story is rubbish, but nobody cares about anyone buying this book does because of the violence. There are a couple of panels that show potential, but there are just now enough of these.
Someone has called in a favour from Wolverine, but Deadpool is also on the job, but what has Deadpool really got himself into?
My other problem with this book is Woverine and Deadpool are not PG characters. Why try to make them that way? If there are a couple of characters, you should not bleep out the language it is these two. Also, why turn Deadpool into the most hated movie (Logan) version of him? The book finishes with a varient covers gallery and a sketchbook.
I think a lot of people are going to watch the new film then see this comic, and think it's more of the same. But it's a lot weirder than you might first thing. It doesn't always work, and it bites off a bit more than it can chew, but I respect it for trying.
Not for me. So many points in the story feel like disjointed nonsense. Everything feels like it doesn't matter and has no stakes. Deadpool regenerating from blood felt stupidly overpowered. It's like there will never be any stakes to either of their stories ever again because they'd have to bath every inch of them in acid or something to ever kill them. It also implies that the blood is somewhat sentient because how does some blood know not to regenerate and other blood cells don't? I don't know if it's just because they were doing this super powered Deadpool that never really got explained. I hope it's just that and not established continuity. It's just dumb. The bad guys also don't make sense or seem real in any way. Just random plot points that I guess they kill at the end?

Too short for my liking and still getting used to the comic style-of-reading. Fun 45 minutes of my life to spend on it, touching at some moments but never enough for it to truly be emotional, overall lacking of concept and plot. Really liked the art style and colors... Funny how I thought I was reading something depressing and deep when it was just fun and some fan service here and there. Really good villain, the whole thing just could have been so much better in a longer, deeper story imo.
Kind of a skip story. I was really bored and quite literally forgot every detail of the last issue when I started the next one. Gun to my head right now I couldn’t tell you the name of the villain to this story or any detail other than Deadpool was being used against his will.
I liked it. I’m a fan of both the Deadpool comics and the movies, and although I do think a bit more backstory was in order to understand what was going on in books 1-2, and it didn’t quite live up to my expectations, I enjoyed book three. I think Kelly really got Deadpool’s character down a lot more (the first two books read a bit oc to me) and I enjoyed the wolvie backstory. However, the whole Deadpool growing outta wolvies back? Wild and absolutely not how Deadpool’s healing factor worked, and in the books plot they said it wasn’t altered, so. Kinda plot hole. Bc like if Wade was gonna come back it would’ve been on whatever’s left in that tundra place. Also I think Deadpool’s actions weren’t correct for his character all the time, like really not enough shitty jokes, but if he really was going through it maybe it makes sense? Idk. It could’ve used more backstory.
Anyway. Art as always was amazing. Plot 2.5/5. Deadpool character 2/5 wolvie 4/5 villains 2/5 it just didn’t read right. Too hunger games and yet not enough hunger games. Definitely not enough crude humour and odd sexual references that I’m used too. Also, I agree with some of the other reviews. Sometimes hard to follow but I actually liked the 90 degree two page spreads. It was fun to read. But as a fan of Deadpool, not conducive towards his character, which was a shame.
But still worth reading

❛ TL;DR-- You're royally @%@# up. Genetics. Upbringing. Not enough fiber-- whatever it is, you got it. So does EVERYONE else on the planet @%#$ed... but some mega-douche in a suit doesn't get to decree we're BROKEN... And he sure as @#%@ couldn't FIX us if we were. That's on US. Fall short. Pass out. Wake up. TRY TO BE BETTER. Repeat, repeat, repeat. That's all we can do... and I don't know ANYONE who's fought as hard to do the work of being a MAN as you have... You're a world-class bastard, yeah...but a good @$#%&@# man. No one decides we're monsters but us. ❜
I don't know why this comic has such a low rating. It was genuinely lovely and motivating, the kind of pick-me-up I feel like I needed lately. Always gonna adore Poolverine's insane love/hate relationship ❤️💛 and I feel like this comic portrayed their dynamic perfectly.
Oh, though the only thing that doesn't make sense is the title - but that's not surprising considering a lot of comic titles don't really align with the actual plot 🤷♂️ Edit: OH WAIT, I JUST GOT IT'S A WORDPLAY!! Not the best one, but that makes more sense 😅
The new Deadpool movie came out and, 'golly gee', they got to cash in while everybody has some spare cash handy. There's a new villain, Delta (no backstory given) who promises elevation through evolution...or something like that. Wolverine and Deadpool cross paths chasing after a killer created by Delta and then we cut to Deadpool getting suckered in to Delta's lil pipedream...
INTRODUCING, 'WADE WILSON THE THIRD'! (Third time's a charm? They keep saying it, anyway) Will Wolverine get duped into following the same path? Delta is gonna try.. ---- Bonus: Back in the day, we've seen Wolvie shot POINT BLANK by a bazooka. He's had the metal ripped out of his skeleton... Bonus Bonus: The comics have had Deadpool's healing factor breakdown and turn him to goo. He's had it fixed so he looks like a normal human...
Now? Be prepared to see some new, graphic depictions of just how far they can take both healing abilities of Deadpool and Wolverine. It's...pretty disgusting.
Doubtless the title 'WWIII' didn't feel quite so close to home last summer – a play on Wade Wilson's initials and the film marketing with the claw-numeral, that's all. But one can hardly blame a miniseries' opportunistic attempt at synergy for literally the entire world, and it is by Joe Kelly, the man who did more than anyone else in comics to create Deadpool as now understood, ie fun. Making it all the odder that at times, this seems to be repeating the mistakes of the character's first big-screen appearance, and keeping him uncharacteristically quiet for plot reasons. It's never quite as bad as that film of inglorious memory, and Adam Kubert keeps the layouts in particular reliably interesting. By the final issue, everything has come together in more ways than one, with some stuff I don't think has ever been done before even with characters as overused as this pair. But the road there was far more of a slog than it should have been, all underwhelming new villains and tiresome revisits of Logan's 'am I man or monster?' mopes and Wade's self-loathing.
I enjoyed the fight and the team up. but the inconsistently changing the way you read pages is headache. Adam Kubert's artwork is beautiful as always. Joe Kelly's plot & story idea is a bit messy. so many plot hole. There was one fight that was drawn on one page, it was dizzying to read and impossible to focus on.
If you're a fan of these two teaming up with bloody & gory fight (blood & their torn up body parts was splatting all over the place), then this is for you! don't expect so much on the plot & story as nothing major is happening in this mini series. cash grab for the Deadpool & Wolverine sucker!
I just went and saw Deadpool and Wolverine so I thought I'd come home and read this. Wow, this was surprisingly not good at all. The story contains a lot of Logan's internal monologue. The story is hard to follow and it took reading the recaps to pick up everything that was supposedly in the previous issue. Deadpool is not himself through most of this making it pretty boring.
Kubert's art isn't bad. It is filled with a bunch of two page turned 90 degrees spreads. It drove me nuts. It was like reading a crappy 90's Image book, flipping it back and forth. Kubert's page layouts were difficult to figure out the reading order as well.
Logan and Wade.... when they get together, you know the Volume is going to be extra bloody and violent. Though they initially face off against each other, they are being brought together by ultra-rich people for sport, due to Wade being upgraded of a sort. Logan helps Wade overcome his programming and Wade helps Logan stop his berserker rage. Coolest part is when Wade literally uses Logan's blood mixed with his to grow an entire new body out of Wolverine's back! Talk about fighting back-to-back! Check this one out. The story is alright, but the art and gore are top notch! Recommend.
2.5 stars rounded up I've read a ton of Wolverine and many Deadpool books. This story, though, was a hot mess. The characters (not DP/Wolverine) were somewhat interesting, but fell very flat. There was potential for these characters to actually have some depth or backstory, and yet, they just didn't. Joe Kelly knows how to write, but that isn't apparent here. Kubert's art was decent, but even that couldn't salvage this garbage. Overall, this run was probably just to make a quick buck with no lasting repercussions, no depth, and a very bland story. Skip it!
Story left a lot to be desired and even then there was absolutely no fun banter between this mostly antagonistic duo as I had anticipated because that's the entire schtick between Logan and Wade. When I finished I said out loud, "That's it?" What about this story was WWIII? It didn't have any consequences or risks to anyone else but the two unkillable characters. Title and synopsis were pretty misleading I would say.
Best part was when Wade stopped being a total loud mouth, yup I said it. Look, I have had my fill of the predictable crude humor, it is just stale. The fact Wade has a change was refreshing, no spoiler.
This is a classic team up and it is a good plot and it is fun. The villain is new ( i believe) and it seems like a set up for some bigger stories, who knows. It is a fun book.
I need to reread this to write a proper review but this immediately became one of my favorite comics i’ve ever read —apparently i’m in the minority here lol—… i don’t know why it hit me like a truck when i read it and even made me tear up by the end
i will come back to this whenever i decide to reread it
slop. pretends to say something meaningful about both these characters brutality and inherent animalistic urges, moreso how wade wilson strives for redemption (which is an old, tired concept to explore when it comes to deadpool) so this comic just ends up saying nothing at all. gorey just to be gorey when it could have been symbolic but simply fell flat.
Not necessarily my type of Marvel story (blood and viscera everywhere), but the character work is good and there are nicely creative layouts. Features a mutant with a fun, novel method of teleportation.
Wild, brutal, and hilarious—Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII nails the chaotic energy you’d expect from this duo. Explosive action, sharp banter, and a surprisingly emotional core make it more than just a gore-fest. A must-read for fans of both mutants.
4 Kubert doing Wolverine is always a treat (wait...that doesn't sound right...). The story, however, was ridiculous, over the top, and didn't really me ake sense.
