The Real Glow Up

Rate this book
For many years, writer and author Chelsey Armfield knew something was off in her life. She felt unfulfilled, out of alignment, and her mental health was beginning to suffer as a result. On the outside, her life appeared to be successful, but on the inside, her inner world felt like it was crumbling. She had no idea how to remedy this situation, but she knew she deserved to feel better than this—to live a life that not only looked good, but felt good. She then went on a journey to discover how to heal and how to live a meaningful life built on a foundation of self-love and self-compassion. She traded in everything she was taught about conventional success, and she redefined what success looked like to her. She finally let go of people pleasing and chose herself. She knew she wasn’t the only person who struggled with this feeling, which is why she wrote this book to share with you how you, too, can transform your lifestyle and create a life that actually feels good.

You may have heard the popular term “glow up” in reference to an improvement of physical appearance. In this book, Chelsey shares The Real Glow Up, a step-by-step guide for how you can glow from the inside out.

Unfortunately I could not connect with what the writer has written. She shares a lot of her struggles and growing process of becoming a person with “the real glow up”.

As there was experiences only of the author and not other life experiences except of some famous well know people in one of the chapters it was a struggle to read as it felt there was nothing for me in this book.

I do however believe that for the right reader, perhaps someone with similar background as an author this would be a good short read.

I did happen to really enjoy this book and found some great take aways. However, as mentioned in another review, I was unable to truly connect primarily because i did not share in similar experiences as the author. She has wonderful tangible tools to refine yourself and really tuning into yourself from a mindful perspective and creating boundaries as a form of self care.

This book has been transformational for me in my most recent attempts at growth. I found myself and my current feelings reflected in the pages. The encouragement to take care of and prioritize myself was a serious call to action. I felt like this book could be helpful for many of the women I know, who put themselves last and forget to take care of themselves. Highly recommend.

This was the first self-help book I have finished through and through and I enjoyed it so much I need to buy the physical copy, if you really want to level up your mindset and your life, I recommend this book.

This book is so relatable. I reread this when I’m having a bad day and need to read something that will lift me up and make me feel not so alone
