“It was a path made by the honored dead for fools to follow.”Fantasy, whimsy, and irony fill this collection of short stories and vignettes by C. Jane Reid, author of the Lola Rose Mysteries and the Donaghue Histories. This anthology includes her first completed novella, The 8th Day, along with “A Fool’s Errand” and “Spirits of Iceholm,” her two previously published short stories. With more than a dozen stories, many of which are brief forays into science fiction, fantasy, and horror, this anthology showcases the many different genres that the author has written over the years.
A lifelong writer, C. Jane is excited to combine her interest in history with her love of crochet in a series of stories blending romance and mystery. Her first novel, "The Secret Stitch," book one of The Donaghue Histories series, was released in March 2016, followed by book two, "The Sojourners," in July 2018. Both stories follow the life of a Scots-Irish immigrant woman attempting to survive in the New World in 1721. She also published a collection of her poetry, "Barded in Poetry," under the pen name Cari Reid. She has two more books upcoming this year: The Lost Soldier, book three of her series, and The War Poet, a historical novel inspired by actual events during WWI.
She lives in Camas, WA, where she is one half of the Ficstitches Yarns team, a quarterly crochet kit that features the continuing saga of the Donaghue family, along with a historically-inspired crochet design by her partner and friend, Laurinda Reddig, and includes locally hand-dyed yarn and a handmade accessory, all themed around the story.
