a cute little story. vidia is actually such a monster in the books it’s crazy. i wish we got a little more of bess adventuring and seeing new things, and i feel like this one wrapped up really quick. but still nice to see more of bess, although i wish the fairies got a litttttlleeeee more personality in all of these stories. tink, prilla, and vidia are the only ones that really get well-developed characterization in these short little stories. but i guess we’ll see if that changes

This series is really cute and I very much liked this book. Beck has never been a favorite character of mine, but the plot was sweet and endearing.

I love the green cover of this one! The flowers and the ocean and the sunset--all my favorite things in one colorful cover!

Beck, our animal-talent MC, longs for adventure, to follow the animals that migrate and pass through Pixie Hollow and learn more about what's out there. This one is fun because, like the last one, it shows us more of the wonderous magic of Neverland. I really enjoyed seeing the different birds and settings, like the talking sand.

I also really like in this one how we get to see that Beck's diligent service and heart for others comes back around as others seek to help her in her time of need. Beck doesn't have much of a flaw or weakness or growth arc in her books, but she is the model of kindness and service. She rises to the call when she gets duped and the race is on to save those she loves. It's fun to see how the creatures band together and set aside their differences to repay the kindness of a friend.

A tale of adventure and exploring from the main animal-talent fairy that was replaced in the films, Beck. The imagery of her fantastic adventures were lovely, but I have mixed emotions about Vidia's portrayal here. Even though the original Pixie Hollow book talked about her stealing feathers from Mother Dove, the books thereafter and the movies redeem her by making her sarcastic and sassy, but not evil. I guess that's what comes from a series written by multiple authors... Still, a cute tale nonetheless.

Okay, I’ve definitely read this one before.

C’mon, Beck, Vidia’s plan was obvious lol

Also her punishment is weak. 2 weeks without flying? How about 2 months. 2 years. Death
obviously that last one is a joke but seriously no exile?? She nearly got banished for the crown thing how come repeatedly harming Mother Dove, the source of magic, who has never done a thing wrong in her life and upon whom the fairies depend, only gets her a restraining order and a temporary flight ban?

Movie Vidia has nice character development, books Vidia sucks lol
Her plan was clever tho
Mean but clever

esp after Vidia and the Fairy Crown, she chose to do the right thing even though no one would know
And to then be back on her bullcrap? Noo Vidia

“I gave it to her when we were friends, and hoped we would remain that way” or whatever

so if the books and the movies happened in the same universe and im right about the Cataclysm then my theory to make this character regression make sense is that The Cataclysm broke Vidia lol
maybe one day she’ll be nice again :(

I really want her to reconcile with Mother Dove. You know she’ll forgive her
Vidia is just being stubborn and stuck in her mean, selfish ways
It would be great to see a repentant Vidia

I like how this book is about Beck but I’ve spent the entire review talking about Vidia lol

Beck learns that it’s okay to take time for herself instead of being 24/7 caregiver, but also you can’t just dip without warning, and also don’t trust Vidia lol
She was so easily manipulated by Vidia calling her independent

I want to see the sea of many colors sounds sick

Gee Vidia is SO clever. Weighting the bag with gravel to make it seem like it had more dust than it did, climbing instead of flying, and the way she cast blame on Beck
I’m always being blamed for everything! <— True statement, and the last time she was blamed for something she was nearly exiled for something that was not at all her fault
Beck wanted to fly with the Birds she was doing all sorts of things! <— another true statement and everyone witnessed it
So where’s the bag then? <— if not for seagull ex machina, this would’ve been a slam dunk

If only Vidia used her cleverness for good and not evil

(Reading the Pixie Hollow books for the first time as a 21-year-old)
Cute story! I wasn't expecting a plot twist in a children's book to catch me off guard, but it actually did. Or maybe I'm just awful at predicting these things. The story starts off casually with Beck developing wanderlust, and hijinks ensue as she figures out how to travel. In the last few chapters, the plot really picks up!
The journey felt rushed, but it's understandable that a book of this length wouldn't be able to do a world adventure story justice. Since it did feel so rushed, Beck's character arc from before and after the journey didn't really make sense. Her sudden growth just didn't feel justified to me.
A couple of gripes here and there, but overall a fun quick read!

Hi my name is Darryl Deshun Bullock, a children’s author.

I liked this story, “Beck Beyond the Sea” better than “Beck and the Great Berry Battle.” Both were interesting reads, one story carried you on a long adventure as the other book left you fixing things in Pixie Hollow. Terence’s description (page 17) gives us a good introduction:

“He had seen the most marvelous things. A sea with waves striped with different colors. And a dessert with sand that talked. Beck felt her heart begin to beat fast. How wonderful it would be to travel and see all those things.”

This a fun book for a child ten and under to read and enjoy with their parents. If you like this book you’d fine mine interesting as well.

Beck was hilarious in this tale and so nice to read. The fact that Vidia would do something like this is not to far fetched but at least beck got her adventure and was able to come home. This was fast pace and very brilliant. so enjoyable.

lighthearted and fun read 🤗

My only concern is the title, the bulk of the story isn’t Beck being beyond the sea. It’s such a trivial thing I know but I just feel like the title could be something else. Other than that, I enjoyed it 😊💛

This is a book from an old favorite series of mine that I enjoyed just as much as The Magic TreeHouse series as a budding reader. Highly recommend it to new readers.
