Usually when a follow up work is done based on the success of a certain project it gets a high chance of being a milk run to generate more money or keep the fan base happy, but this book was the unusual exception, and you have to read the first part first to grasp this although it is not mandatory to read it to follow the story, simply because the second part reboots the story from the start with a new set of characters, incorporating the first part within the overall story, so actually you can read the second part first, then read the first one as a prequel, whatever suits you.

I liked the story plot, the character development and the ongoing face offs and feuds between the main characters, whose supply was endless due to the plot itself, and each character was richly drawn and weaved.

I've read the whole thing in a week, much due to enjoyment and the gripping events

Volume 1 of this second series is off to a great start! This story takes place at the same time as the first series, focusing instead on another group of students. Our main protagonist is a senior named Akashi. Just as in the first series, all the highschools across the globe become the center of deadly death games. Luckily for Akashi, he skipped school the day these games took place, and that's where this story really takes off.

Akashi's best friend, Aoyama, managed to survive the first round of games (that Akashi was absent for). Akashi begs his father (a police officer) to tell him where the survivors are being kept, but is not given any information. That's when Akashi gets a knock on his door...One thing the first series doesn't answer is, what happens to the students who were absent on the day of the games? Welp, this first volume answers just that. A mysterious figure known as "the second" shows up to the homes of those that missed school, and gives them the choice of going with him, or staying home. Akashi, most likely in hopes of finding his friend, agrees to go with the creature. It's also noted here that Takumi (our first reintroduction to a character from the first series) is greeted by this strange creature, but refuses his invitation.

As for Akashi, he and all the others that agreed to go are flown up into a giant cube (similar to those from series 1). This is where we learn that this particular cube is nothing but students that skipped. The god of this cube, Sein Kami, introduces himself and tells everyone present that whoever survives will become a god. The volume concludes with Kami's powers being demonstrated, and what I can only assume is the start of the first game.

As for right now, this series is already off to a better start. This volume has already given us pretty good character development, and the hype for what's to come is at 100. Can't wait for volume 2! 5/5

WOAH GOOD LORD this was one crazy book that will get you hooked on the series.Which I can speak for itself is amazing.👌🏾

I’m not lying and will even prove it this series deals with death the right way it’s unpredictable and unbiased the author did an amazing job at highlighting the truth of who people are when there life is on the line the fear the love the friendship and true kindness also the callousness… it does not shy away from the truth

you are able to build a connection to a character after a few chapters have them die and still believe the story can run strong

MY ONLY CON…. is the fan service 😞Later on in the series the upskirt jokes and just not needed erotic get to be ANNOYINGGGGGGG the book is still amazing but im here to be honest 💁🏽‍♀️

The ending of the series is by far the best of my life the signs were there but there’s just so much juicy goodness you don’t see it,it tackles different mentalities and philosophies so well it’s not a dense super natural book but one of inspiration and change of courage and danger
5/5!!!!!

One of my favorite genres, people trapped in a bad situation, looking for a way out.

My favorite part was probably that the one loser guy gets picked up by a robot, and halfway to the destination, realizes he got on the robot wrong, so he's the only one facing backwards while everyone else is facing the right way. Perhaps this will be an important story point later, but I'm hopeful it's simply that this dumbass did something that seemed reasonable at the time, then he realized it was all wrong.

I felt very seen.

The beginning of one of my favorite death game series. We get a small glimpse of what’s to come in this series and how insane it’s all going to be. I love the way Akashi meets Rui and how the two immediately connect.

Chicken or beef? Which one will you be?

I read all the 186 chapters of this manga. There is only one I can say, the Season 1 is always the best for me. Tho I like the cameo of season 1 cast in this manga.

Estranho... Definitivamente estranho.

Pretty typical game/punishment manga. The story is a bit more complex than the recently released movie. This volume follows several characters and sets them up for the twisted trials that will come in later issues. It gives you just enough to get hooked though and is a fun read.
