With a generation of aging rulers likely to soon exit the stage, attention has increasingly turned to succession scenarios in a host of authoritarian states. In Egypt, the fall of Hosni Mubarak has put an end to speculation about a dynastic succession, leaving a crowded field of potential replacements.
