Some houses come with secrets, and some secrets should never be forgotten.
After eight years together, Peter and Rhys have finally achieved success: good jobs that keep them comfortably fed and a happy married life. The icing on the cake is their move from a small city duplex to a large farmhouse in need of repair.
Peter instantly senses something going on in the house that he can’t put his finger on, something a bit sinister. Things start to happen: whispers in the night, crying only Peter can hear, faucets that turn on for no reason. When Peter starts to dream of a dark-haired young man who tells him how much he loves him, he feels like he’s losing his mind, especially since Rhys doesn’t see or hear anything.
Only after suffering accidents and injuries does Rhys agree the house is haunted, and they’ll have to figure out how to fight a lovesick ghost.
Born and raised in the middle of the bible belt Rider has always used books to take her to places she never believed she would see and to help her live a life that she could only imagine. Her first taste of city life was when she moved to Las Vegas Nevada after high school and experienced a whole world that small town country life hadn't prepared her for. For the next ten years she experienced a world of new things before returning to the small town life in Kansas and starting to write. Her stories sat on her computer for a while until a friend suggested submitting them to a couple of m/m publishers. The result was a contract for the book she co wrote with her friend Angel called Faelon. Her first solo project is Legion. Just recently she was offered a contract for her second solo project called Forgotten. Rider would love to here from her fans so feel free to drop her a line or ask how you can become a member of her street team.
I used to read horror stories ALL the time (Stephen King was my true love in high school.) I loved the feeling of being scared. It's been a really long time since I've read a book that had me scared while reading. Forgotten had me holding my breath and reading hesitantly... nervous about what was going to happen next. I actually found myself physically tensing and gripping my kindle at times.
I think what really made this scary for me was that the story was one of romantic love between Peter and Rhys. How they met... how they supported one another while becoming successful, how Peter was won over to buying this huge old farmhouse because Rhys was so in love with it and he couldn't help but make him happy. Peter and Rhys are just so happily-ever-after in love. And, it's not just a romantic love... it's a hot sexy love. So you have sweet romance, and hot sex, and day to day home remodeling... and then you randomly throw in sudden, creepy, violent, scary, spirit haunting. Yeah... I was freaked out and now I worry over noises in my house when I'm alone. (I blame the cats.)
I have to say I loved how the dual story progressed; how Peter and Rhys slowly learned the story of Alexey and Demitri. There is just something really fascinating about the idea of a spirit haunting a place, or a person, because they need to not be forgotten. They need someone to know them and their story. I felt almost relief that Peter and Rhys decided to accept and delve into the story... and not run. The book easily could have been just Peter and Rhys' story.... "Love love love, haunt, horror, scream, protect, run away, happily-ever-after". It was so much better to encompass the story behind the haunting.
The ending? LOVED it. I won't give it away... but it was an ending I definitely wasn't expecting.
*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.* I'm rating this book a 3.5 but rounding up. I couldn't figure out if this book was supposed to be an Erotic MM Romance or a Ghost story. Though there's a story line for both, the time spent on each plot part, made me feel at times, that I was reading two separate stories. I really liked Rhys and Peter. And if this was just an erotic MM story, it would have been a 4 star on it's own (without rounding up).
As a ghost story, maybe a 3. Which is where we get the 3.5 rating from. For the first half of the book, I kept thinking the something really scary was going to happen. But as it progressed and I realized what was going on, I thought, ok, let's roll with this. My problem with the ghost story plot line is that it was wrapped up too quickly and too neatly. I expected more from all the suspense that was built up. I felt slightly disappointed in how quick it was resolved.
In all, this was an enticing story that did keep my interest to an extent. Several times I had to set it down and walk away. It wasn't one of those, neglect the housework to read, type of books. But it's certainly a decent read.

This story was interesting. It was a good concept, and the story had a lot of potential, but the author came up short in telling the story. I think she spent way too much time on Rhys and Peter and not enough time on the research and discovery of Alexey's story. I wanted to know much more about him, his back ground and where he started and how he ended up where he did and how he did. There were holes left in the story that needed to be filled.
I wanted Peter and Rhys to find out more in their research. I think this book could have done with a good beta reader.
The chemistry between Rhys and Peter was good, but it was way too sickly sweet at times. The terms of endearment, which I don't mind used in books, was WAY overused. It was too much.
I feel like this review is a very negative, and that's now how intended it to be. It wasn't a bad story it just needed some help. I think it moved too slow and could have been paced faster. It felt at times it just wasn't going anywhere and I wanted more action. This book had potential and I would definitely give the author another try.
I am not sure where to begin with this one. This book did not thrill me. The best part of this big was the prologue!! Not only did the story drag on but the main characters were a bore. This book should actually be posted as an erotic m/m thriller. I felt there was more sex than thriller. I do not have an issue reading m/m stories but it seemed at least every chapter had them going at it. But not only the two main characters, but let us also bring in the ghosts to have some fun too! But I always say that everyone reads all books differently. Maybe the next person who reads it, may actually love it. But I did not, so I give it 3 stars.
It started off at five stars. I loved the characters and suspense, the writing was great and it actually scared me. It settled around 4 stars as the pacing slowed and it was a little less scary (and I didn't like how one of the MCs reacted to what he experienced) but the last 10 a 15 pages were just stupid, ridiculous, and annoying, totally ruined the whole book for me. 2.5 stars rounded up
