Some days just begin badly and from then on nothing goes right. One morning, Smudge stomps out of her room in her wrongly buttoned-up shirt, and can't wait to provoke an argument with Stripe. Smudge ends up storming out of the house - but will returning home be too much for her pride?

My mom still tells stories about the way that I used to read her this book, I absolutely love it. It's the story of Smudge, who is having a grumpy day, runs away from home. I love the message that it's okay to have a grumpy day, because we all do. But it also says that it's okay to show grace to someone having a grumpy day too.

I like this book for the story and the great illustrations. Everyone has grumpy days, and I think Smudge portrays that excellently! I'd read this to my kids to teach them that having a bad morning doesn't mean your whole day is ruined and that they don't need to be grumpy all day just if their mornings bad.

This book points out that it is okay to have grumpy days. It also points out that you are not the only one who may have a grumpy day but others might as well and it is okay. In this book you will see that the character still has fun and that friends may lighten the mood that may be grumpy.

One of those not at all subtle moral tales where the moral doesn't seem to be quite what was intended. In this case, the moral is apparently that if one feels grumpy one can run away and there will be no consequences. Also, why is the (oversized) mouse's father figure a badger?

The Grumpy Day is all about having a grumpy day. It may be good coupled with Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. It would be good to just join together as a class and brace ourselves for the day ahead if it looks like it is going to be a bad day.

I think this is a really cute book for younger grades. It tells how everyone can have bad days sometimes but that it is up to them to try and make it better and turn their bad day around. It teaches them that frieda can make things better.

We all have grumpys days. I like the way this book said not only is it ok to have grumpy days, its also ok to forgive someone who is having a grumpy day. Smudge also managed to have a little fun and friend time even though he was grumpy. That is also a good message to put out there.

We all have grumpy days where we act out unkindly to the people we love. This is a story of a mouse named Smudge and her grumpy day.
