(Tamil: எஸ்.ராமகிருஷ்ணன்; born 1966)

is a noted Tamil author and Tamil film dialogue writer. He was born in Mallankinaru, Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu.

Ramakrishnan is noted for his column Thunai Ezhuthu in the magazine Ananda Vikatan. His short stories have been translated in German, French, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

His other works include Kadhaa Vilaasam, Desaandri, and Alainthen Tirindhen.

The book talks on S.R sirs most liked International Cinema across different location, if the book is titled ennaku piditha ayal cinema it could have been apt and would have set the right context. As always similar to other SR books it is loaded with lots of data and lots of experiences in a very few pages. Sometimes it becomes too much of data that we tend to forget things, I am not sure though how SR could have made it bit more interesting. The book introduces few directors who are in SR's selected list across languages.

For an average reader like me who knows very less of cinema the book was a epitome of information talking on different tastes. The book also made me understand different parts of world and what to expect generally in different cinema. According to me a very good book, but the pace of the book is too fast to digest which makes me forget lot many things and remember very few which actually affected my thought a lot. If you are film buff a must read, if you are a person who would want to experiment with cinema this is a eye opener to find the language of your taste and for those who dont want to know about cinema but only on stories this is a good narrative of different stories in a very short form.

Go for this book with a note to take down notes if you want to remember things from the book.

வெவ்வேறு நாடுகளை சேர்ந்த உலகளவில் புகழ்பெற்ற பத்து இயக்குனர்களின் படைப்புகளை பற்றி விவரிக்கின்றது இந்நூல்.குறித்த இயக்குனர்களின் முக்கியமான படைப்புகள்,பாத்திர உருவாக்கங்கள், திரைக்கதை, கதை சொல்லும் பாணி, இயக்கத்தில் அவர்கள் கையாண்ட புதிய உத்திகள், அவர்களது சமகால இயக்குனர்களிடமிருந்து மேற்கூறிய இயக்குனர்கள் வேறுபட்டிருந்த விதம், அவர்களது படைப்புகள் தேசிய மற்றும் உலக சினிமாவில் ஏற்படுத்திய மாற்றங்கள் , அவர்களின் படைப்புகளில் ரசித்த விடயங்கள் பற்றி எஸ்.ரா எழுதியிருப்பார் என்றே எதிர்பார்த்தேன். ஆனால் பெரும்பாலான இடங்களில் குறித்த இயக்குனர்களின் முக்கியமான படைப்புகளில் ஓரிரண்டின் கதையை முழுமையாக சொல்லியே பக்கங்களை நிரப்பியிருந்தார். பல இடங்களில் கதை சொல்லலலில் புதிய உத்திகளை கையாண்டார், அவர்களது நாட்டு சினிமாவில் மாற்றங்களை ஏற்படுத்தினார் என்று வெறுமனே குறிப்பிடுகின்றாரே அவ் உத்திகளைப் பற்றியோ ஏற்படுத்திய மாற்றங்களை பற்றியோ விவரித்திருக்காதது ஏமாற்றமே.பல இடங்களில் ஏதோ திரைப்படத்தைப் பற்றி விக்கிபீடியாவில் வாசிப்பது போன்ற எண்ணம் ஏற்படுவதை தவிர்க்க முடியவில்லை.

Listing down his ten favorite directors throughout the world and what made them unique (in the author's opinion), this book can be an introductory read to people who would like to explore world cinema and a good read to people who are already exploring it.

On the whole, helped me with a lot of movie recommendations and with the life travel of directors he mentioned, got to know about their POV on cinema & story telling. If not for the writing down of stories of the movies, this would be a great book on World cinema from the author's pov. Still, a good read🤍🤝
