About the author

Tony Zuvela

5 books
Tony Zuvela was born way back in the crazy, far out, groovy Sixties;'62 in fact. He currently lives with the four people inside his head, somewhere in Australia. His Hobbies are Arthritis and Medication.
Was once in the Television Industry as a Cameraman/Editor for 24 years.
Cartooning and Painting is something Tony has been doing naturally on-and-off ever since he could walk, but nothing Professional, just doddles for Family and Friends; that is, until in 2004 he decided to give Cartooning a full-time red-hot go (the silly fool!), and he's never looked back; partly due to the Arthritis in his neck.
His Cartoons have been sold, bought, used and licenced around the World in areas such as: The Movie Industry, Law Firms, Software Companies, Theatre and Arts, Universities, Colleges, Schools, Churches, Small Business, Blog Sites, Websites, Newsletters, Merchandise and much, much more; and this has kept him very happy and from going sane.

Part Far Side, part Bizzarro, these one-panel wonders are pretty cute.

--A pregnant hillbilly's t-shirt proudly proclaims COUSIN with an arrow pointing to her belly.

--A hairy transvestite shows his son the closet full of frilly girly clothes that will someday belong to him.

--A young rat asks his pal's mom if Rodney can come out and plague?

--A blind vampire relies on a seeing-eye bat.

Not all of these are winners, I groaned almost as often as I laughed, but I like Zuvela's style and rather dark sense of humor. The collection is very short and I wanted more, so I guess that makes this a good thing.

Off-beat and wacky, and definitely NOT Family Circus!

It was barely 2 star material for me. A Far Side [which I like] wannabe complete with quirky humor, weird drawings and unfortunately, some blasphemy.

I found this book for free on Amazon, and the cover was funny so I downloaded it.

When I read it I found out that it is pretty consistently funny through out. I like Zuvela's humor, and he is a good artist. Most of the jokes made me laugh, or smile at least. I'm not quite sure who his style reminds me of, but it is well executed.

The humor is consistent, but it leans in different directions. Some of the jokes are working with the form itself like the last joke of the book where the joke hasn't been finished completely, other play with words like the one with a deer and a jar of honey in bed together, and yet another are fairly straight jokes.

In short, I like Zuvela's style, I find it funny, and may have to look up more of his work someday.

Now, THIS is funny stuff! I've perused a number of cartoon collections, and find most of them to be rather mediocre. Not so with Tony Zuvela's "Berserk Alert! Book 1". This guy's sense of humor is so in tune with my own that I'm not sure if one - or both - of us should perhaps be worried. Even our hobbies are the same, as noted on his final page.

I'm going to have to check out Books 2 - 5 in this collection, but don't wait for me. Go ahead and check out this one for yourself. Every dog lover will immediately chuckle at the cover cartoon, and it just gets better from there.

Kudos to Zuvela!
