"This book had everything, it is funny and steamy and I just loved it." - Reviewer. Theodore Ellis. Men want to be him, and women just want him. He’s the entrepreneurial bad boy, the tabloids darling, and as infamous in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. What happens when a player meets his match? Lilly Parker throws down a gauntlet Theo can’t help but pick up. The deal? No strings. It should be so simple. Hearts will become dangerously besieged, and walls will be battered to the ground. Love is a war. She who dares wins.

2.5 "predictable" stars

a man whore...billionaire? CHECK

and a sexually liberated business woman as his equal opponent? CHECK

an ALPHA male vs. an ALPHA female... HOLD UP, right there

Now, the problem doesn't even start here, I don't know where to start exactlly...shit

OK, from the beginning,

#1 I didn't quite LIKE the hero Theodore Ellis, he was a slime, a true asshole and not in that false - HAWT way, cause no matter how much money you have, it can't buy you class, asshole!
I'm Theodore Ellis and no-one is untouchable to me.

This is what I do, I seduce women, get them hanging on my every word until they ache to please me. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.

yeah, right! Seriously?! *shakes her head*

#2 the storyline was so predictable I even skipped a bit and then realized I didn't miss a thing

Finally a woman comes along that doesn't give a shit about Theo's cocky attitude or his cock, well at least that was evident in the very beginning BUT then the "attraction" kicks in, and then she stumbles, trips and deliberately falls onto his dick. Fuck, yeah!
Ok, I am being rude here, not my intention really, I am just frustrated cause THAT teasing and anticipation before she indulges him is, hands down, one of the best angsty material I have read. And the main reason my rating isn't lower.

Then the tipical fight of sexes takes the course of action, and they agree to be in this "just sex" kinda thing with no label as such, but there's no great sex for a long dinstance without some sort of feelings showing up. So shit!!!

She, the heroine 22 year old solicitor, Lilly Parker is reigning her body, her looks, her attitude as strong, self-apprehensive, and sexually tough woman, but it's a very good front,
I have sex because I like sex, but that's it. I don't get involved with people because quite frankly most people arent worth getting involved with. I don't need somebody to complete me, be the other half of me or anyof that freaky shit. I don't trust anybody, and I don't need to...

Ok, I would go with that, and I did until I found out why she's like that in the first place...
since she had experienced a horrible violent attack that left her destroyed, so she has build her-self up and moved on...ok, again, but I would be a bit reluctant regarding sex, after what happened to her, but hey...it's fiction

so, the more they get involved the more it's hard to keep the emotions aside BUT she's scared and she breaks the "just sex" deal or any deal with him, for that matter

And Theo, realizes that he wants more, for the first time in his rich, assholery life, he want more, significantly importantly, he wants her - Lilly Parker.

So he's devastated, he gets wasted and guess what he does? I don't think I need to tell you, do I?
he's a man whore, after all...old habits die hard.

But he doesn't remember it, go figure! He realizes that he wants to fight for her, so he does. YAAAY!!! and she gives him a second chance, well sort of...

And then the aftermath of his drunken state comes to bites him in the ass, Lilly bolts again cause fuck it, he broke her again!!!

Damn, this fuckin soap opera!

#3 my biggest remark regarding the characters, they are inconsistent, at times they are acting like strong individuals, assuring us of their boldly actions and stance, and then flip - they are immature and unbelieveably theatrical it's almost comical

#4 the grammar thing, I mean dear God, there's a huge difference between
"I am STOOD by the bar.." and "I am STANDING" by the bar..."

the passive element of the grammar structure killed any sense of involving further into the story, or any action...or desire to find out more...it had just the opposite effect...

I truly put the effort into finishing this...and honestly I am not sure If i wanna find out what happens next, or God knows, maybe I'll decide to kill my curiosity (cause she's even more of an annoying bitch and a huge part of me) and maybe, just maybe...one day I would read book 2

This could have been a great story...

and just like Theo broke Lilly,
I will always love you Theo. You gave me strength,
but not enough for this.

my sentiments exactly...

Besieged is the first book in debut author LP Lovell’s She Who Dares series. The story is not concluded at the end of this book and will continue in Conquered, due for release later this year.

Well, I really enjoyed this. As a British Blogger, it’s always a thrill to find a new British author just starting out and that’s exactly what we’ve got here. Set in London and delving into it’s nightlife, this is a great debut from LP Lovell and I found myself completely caught up in Theo and Lilly’s story.

Theo and Lilly meet one night in a club, Theo tries it on and Lilly rejects him, something he is seriously not accustomed to. Lilly has just started a new internship with a firm of solicitors and is really quite shocked to find one of her boss’s most lucrative clients is none other than Theo Ellis himself. Now he knows who she is and where she works, he sets about pursuing her in earnest.

He laughs. "You will end up in my bed Lilly. Maybe not today or even tomorrow, but you will." This guy thinks he's God’s gift to women. Oh, I am going to enjoy rejecting him. I step closer to him until my lips are only a few inches from his.

I lean up to whisper in his ear. "You just sealed your own failure. I hate arrogance, and I hate assumption even more. You assume I'll sleep with you. My eyes flick confidently down his body. "Never. Going. To happen."

Theo is a trustfund baby who has invested his money well and is now a successful businessman – so successful that he doesn’t really need to put much time in at the office and is now the darling of the tabloid press. He’s an out and out playboy, albeit a very charming one, and is constantly seen with a never ending stream of lingerie models – a different one every night, He doesn’t believe in love, only believes in one night stands and never sleeps with the same woman twice. First impressions of Theo is that he is cocksure, extremely arrogant, definitely promiscuous – a good looking guy enjoying everything that London’s social scene has to offer. He’s the worst kind of manwhore – he uses women and throws them out the second he’s done with them. He’s an arrogant, rich arsehole but I sure did come to love him by the end of the novel.

“You will be there when I want you.” She raises an eyebrow and smirks at me.

I stand and wind my fingers into her hair, bringing her lips close to mine. “Oh no sugar. I will be there when I want you, and trust me you will want me just as much. I’m not a lap dog sweetheart.” I trace her ear with my tongue, she trembles.

“I bite.”

Lilly is his nemesis. No girl ever says no to Theo and he relishes the challenge of getting Lilly underneath him screaming his name but what he doesn’t realise is that she is the female embodiment of him – she’s into one-night stands, is fairly sexually aggressive, likes control and is not about to be swept off her feet by Theo, however traitorously her body is betraying her with desire every time she is near him. They’re both desperately attracted to one another and we’re treated to a delicious game of alpha vs alpha as they prowl around one another like predatory wild cats. Lilly, however, has had a difficult past and this sexual alpha female act is actually masking the hurt inside and slowly, very slowly, Theo begins to break down her defences as he finds himself falling for her.

"Stop lying to yourself. You want me almost as much as I want you." I press another kiss against her throat and she swallows heavily. Her eyes flutter closed.

"And how much do you want me?” Her voice is husky, seductive.

“More than anything. You have me on my knees.” I whisper.

I so enjoyed this – LP Lovell really does an amazing job of bringing London and it’s effervescent social scene to life. Despite agreeing to a fuck buddy arrangement and despite their better judgement, it’s so lovely and incredibly sexy to see Theo and Lilly begin to develop feelings for one another, both of them resisting it all the way. Their attraction to one another is incendiary and this is smokin hot as they finally succumb to that all-consuming passion that’s been simmering ready to explode between them. But this is far deeper than just erotica as plenty of time is giving to explore both of their growing feelings and nothing is rushed and I felt that the pacing was spot on and I just adored how Lilly was able to slowly change this womanising player and, for the first time in his life, Theo began to develop real affection and, yes, love for her.

I realise that now I know what it is to have her...I can't go back. I will fight for her, no matter what.

A big shout out must go to all the secondary characters – these were written beautifully by LP Lovell and I found myself loving all of them, even Theo’s best mate Hugo who has named his dick Rambo. Yep – he is Theo’s wingman and every inch the manwhore too. Lilly shares a flat with her best friends Molly and George and I really came to adore these two as well. Lilly herself, really made my heart hurt when her past is slowly revealed to us – she’s a broken woman and the whole alpha female act is an emotional fortress to stop herself from feeling and being hurt.

So in conclusion – another great alpha playboy millionaire about to be brought to his knees by the love of his life, the one he never thought he needed. It’s sexy, funny, captivating and a fantastic debut. It’s a thumping good read and I really can’t wait for Conquered to be released.

On a friends recommendation I read Theo and Lilly’s story and….WOW! I was treated to a delightful surprise., I adored it! “Besieged” was a spicy, comical and drama filled read.

Theo, a dashingly sexy and obscenely wealthy manwhore, is living the high life. He’s a dedicated playboy, who greatly enjoys non-stop partying, clubbing, drinking and has a bevy of women at his command. Being a successful business mogul in the spotlight, Theo is constantly plagued by the paparazzi. The world is at his fingertips and refuses to be tied down to one woman. The last thing he expected was falling in love… That all changed when he stumbles across the most ravishingly beautiful and seductive Lilly, the buxom redhead who turned his world upside down.

Lilly is quite the character. I liked her personality ~ she’s witty, sassy, intelligent any refuses to take anyone’s crap. Lilly is one tough cookie. She also happens to be the only woman who has rejected Theo’s charms – crashed and burned any hopes of a quick and dirty hook up time and time again. Theo does not accept being put off and rises to the challenge of persuading Lilly to jump into his bed. He becomes obsessed, and will never give up until she succumbs to his will.

I have no idea why I'm so bloody obsessed with Lilly Parker. Perhaps it's just the classic case of wanting what you can't have. I want her, of course I do, what man wouldn't, but it's more than that, it's an all-consuming need to possess her in a way I've never felt before. She's challenging and outright antagonistic in a way that makes me feel as though I want to tame her. Never have I gone to such lengths over a woman. I’m having to convince her that she wants me for god’s sake. I close my eyes and I can hear her moaning as I taste that sweet pussy of hers. Her cries as she trembles against my tongue. Oh god. My cock stiffens immediately at the memory.

Lilly also shies away from commitment. One-night stands are common for her and she has no qualms rebuffing Theo’s advances, regardless of the fact that she finds him EXTREMELY attractive. She would love a romp in the hay with “sexier than hell” Theo, but her stubbornness gets in her way. Eventually, her body betrays her willpower. Once weakened by his charms Theo and Lilly set off an erotic display of fireworks. Their passion is set ablaze ~ in the office, in the bedroom, anywhere these two get together, they combust. Brilliant!

I realise that while I've spent so long trying to build my walls and keep the world out, Theodore Ellis has besieged me. He hasn't broken my walls down, no, they're still firmly in place, but he has scaled them and now stands next to me inside my fortress.

But what started as casual sex evolved into something more. Theo experiences something new and foreign – FEELINGS! Mr. Manwhore has fallen deep and is head over heals in love. * Swoon * There’s only one problem and that’s Lilly. Her past secrets prevent her from admitting she cares about Theo and thwart any hope of starting a real relationship. She can buildup her emotional walls, run and hide, but is only fooling herself in denying she has fallen for him. Deep down, a fire has been lit and she hungers only for Theo.

Obviously there’s DRAMA…

Theo, of course, does something enormously stupid that comes back and bites him hard in the ass and sends Lilly off running. And now I am left hanging on a cliff wondering how the hell Theo will mange to overcome the shit storm he created. So, I am patiently waiting for “Conquered” to satisfy my desire for more Lilly and Theo…

I really enjoyed “Besieged”. It was a fast-paced, gripping storyline and was very well written. Looking forward to reading more from debut author, LP Lovell, and the “She Who Dares” Series.

A lovable story about a spoiled billionaire man-whore and a young lawyer determined to avoid commitment.
Damaging to the book was the pacing where through too repetitive events Lilly's suffered trauma was obvious but not explained and also that this book needed editing badly. Besides 'to' the English language knows 'too' too. So please use it where it is meant. And wondering and wandering are two different things. And so on. It annoyed me too much. Please call in an editor. The book could become great. Perhaps we will have to wait for part 2 for that.

This was a bad read. Both the H and h sleep around a lot. The H is a complete douche. When he is driving the drunk h home and she vomits, he is furious she ruined his car. Plus, everyone in the H and h's lives is young and horny so they also sleep around and are constantly on the prowl for more. The H goes to parties where women are naked and he would have sex with one or more. He lived a leisure lifestyle and only went to the office once a week. Disgusting!!

4.5 steamy stars!

Review also available on Books & Tea as part of the Girls Heart Books Tour.

That was one fantastic steamy read! I really loved this book!

An alpha male character is something quite common when reading contemporary romance books. But when this alpha playboy is turned down by the girl who might be his match (at least a serious challenger in the 'no attach' contest), things definitely get more interesting!

Lilly was one of the strongest female characters I've read about. Everytime she threw Theo (aka the self-assured, arrogant, yet completely charming millionaire) off balance, I found myself cheering "You go girl, make me proud!"
It was so refreshing to read about this smart girl resisting the irresistible man.

I remain completely professional with him. "Well, we'll have a lot of business to sort out over the next week."
I hear him chuckle quietly down the phone. "Oh, we most certainly do, you can be sure of it." [...] Damn it, I walked right into that one.

The story was told alternatively from both Lilly's and Theo's points of view, which was really enjoyable. It was great to get to see what they thought and the way they reacted to each other. I also loved the development of their relationship throughout the book.

Now steamy romance also means steamy sex scenes... Those were really well written to me. When reading books with lots of sex scenes, I usually get bored. It's either repetitive or "over-creative" (to prevent from being repetitive). It was not the case here, and that's one of the facts that I loved about this book. I never got tired of them.

Well, everything about this book was perfect... until the end! And this huge, huge ... I mean, ***HUGE*** CLIFFHANGER! . It left screaming at my Kindle (though I had guessed what the cliffhanger would be). I screamed even more when, on the next page, I saw I would have to wait till september to read Conquered (book #2). Can you tell that I can't wait to read more about Lilly and Theo?

I realise while I've spent so long trying to build my walls and keep the world out, Theodore Ellis hase besieged me. He hasn't broken my walls down, no, they're still firmly in place, but he has scaled them and stands next to me inside my fortress.

Where to begin? This book's writing style is just plain weird. I have never read a book written in the first person PRESENT TENSE. It took a lot of getting used to and then, just when you are (for the most part) the author then writes weird sentences like this:

"I open it and see him STOOD there with his head bent..."

Stood there? what? Or how about this:

"Donnie is SAT on the far end of the bar eating cereal...."

I don't know if this is some sort of weird way Brits speak, but it was so annoying and distracting. And she did it every time she used those words. The author also really overuses the single word sentence gimmick. I. kid. you. not. I mean yes it does get your attention, but if you have your characters use it all the time in just about every conversation they have, it loses its effect and just becomes annoying. Really.

Trying to ignore all of the above and just enjoy the story itself was also impossible because I hated both main characters. Lilly is a raging drunk and I just felt no sympathy for her. We're supposed to forgive her self-indulgent, self-destructive habits because, oh boo-hoo, she's had a hard life.

Theo was just another billionaire with more money than sense and we are supposed to like him even though he is a womanizing whore. He and his buddy (whose name I can't remember) are disgusting in the way they treat woman, but we are supposed believe that Theo makes this complete one-eighty and becomes a one woman kind of guy. Yeah, right.

Anyway I ended up with all three books in the series, so I guess I'm stuck finishing it eventually. Good thing it was dirt cheap on sale because not even the sex scenes save the book.

This is NOT representative of how talented Lovell is!!!!

Although I absolutely loved the banter and could feel the sexual tension between the main characters, there was absolutely nothing unique or extraordinary about this storyline; It’s just a very predictable slow burn with lots of sex. I was so frustrated at how boilerplate this story was that I actually quit reading at 58%. I eventually came back to it, listening to it using a text to speech app so I wouldn’t have to utilize my limited reading time). I forced myself to push through only for it to end with a cliffhanger!!! Argh!!! Spare yourself and do not read this!!!!

** JOSIE'S 4.5 STARS REVIEW **

OMFG I loved this book! it was a fast paced, hot and funny. It had me from page 1 until the very end. It is hard to believe that this is L.P. Lovell’s debut novel. It was masterfully written.

Theodore Ellis is a business man that has it all…money, looks and women that come and go. He’s a business man who parties like a rock star, and has more women than he has room on his bed post to put the notches on. He does not do love, only one nights stands and does not promise anything more.

Lilly Parker has had a hard past, because of it she is closed off and unavailable. But Lilly is not all sweet and innocent. she plays the same game that Theodore plays but she plays it better.

Lilly and Theo’s paths cross and even though Lilly has her walls tight and high, Theo is persistent in his pursuit of Lilly. You can see she is a challenge for him. The moment Theo sees Lilly, there is something about this sexy, confident, strong, and secure woman that heightens a need in him. Lilly is not far behind, with Theo’s feelings but she knows it SPELLS trouble and she is going to play the game before he has a chance to ruin her. But all to quick Lilly is overwhelmed by Theo. Let me just say the constant banter between Lilly and Theo was like foreplay…it was HOT!!!

“Never underestimate. You should know that, surely?”

“I do, I’m not one to beat around the bush Lilly, so I’ll be blunt. I want you, badly, but you already know that. You’re not one to underestimate.”

“What part of your first meeting did you miss Mr. Ellis? I distinctly remember telling you that I’m not interested.”

“If this is you not being interested, hell I’d like to see you when you are. But you see sugar; we both know you’re lying to yourself. I’m Theodore Ellis….of course you’re interested. No Matter how much you want me between your legs.”

Theo is a cocky SOB, but he is hot, has money and SCREAMS SEX. He is every woman’s nightmare. We all know the one, he gets what he wants and then it is bye-bye.

“I don’t want anyone else. I want you Lilly. I need to be in you, it’s killing me every time I see you.”

Lilly is Theo’s competitor. She is the female version of himself. Lilly also does one-night stands, is sexually dominating because she likes control and does not fall for Theo’s charms. The problem is her body craves Theo and every time they are around each other it is a ticking time bomb just waiting to be ignited. Their attraction to each other is intense and we get to see two dominate people try to gain ground on the other. The difference in Lilly’s dominance is the hard past she’s lived and it hides the darkness and pain. Theo slowly starts to tear down her walls and the two begin a sexually intense relationship that might just leave them broken.

“How much do you want me?”

“More than anything. You have me on my knees.”

“Oh God, Theo f**k me.”

“I’m going to f**k you like you’ve never been f**ked sugar. I want you to scream my name.”

“You’re body was made for me. You’re all I can think about, all I want. I want to kiss you, touch you, and taste you.”

“Sorry, that happens sometimes, what with my monster c**k.”

Lucky for you I love it rough….and that is not a monster; it’s a little teddy bear.”

This is such a funny read and enjoyable. It was fun watching these two interact and eventually form a relationship. But sometimes, too good is a set up for the bad. Can Lilly and Theo be more to other than just sex buddies? Will they both be able to commit? What happen when one falls in love and the other is too afraid to admit they are in love as well? Guess what we have to wait for book 2 to find out, but I am happy with the way this ended. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

“You will be there when I want you.”

“Oh no sugar. I will be there when I want you, and trust me you will want me just as much. I’m not a lap dog sweetheart.”

“I bite.”

WOW. THIS BOOK IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED IT TO BE.
I didn't expect this book to be so playful and cute, with Lilly and Theo's heated banters and breath taking chemistry. I found myself feeling giddy and I love it when I feel that way with a book
description
There were moments where I was like
description
FUCKING COMMUNICATE. YOU HAVE MOUTHS. THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE FOR. TALKING.
description
Despite what was going on, I felt that I really loved Theo but he was a walking contradiction... Like he constantly lived the bachelor life and he finally met the one and that's great! But he acted like Lilly was ridiculous to not see he liked her more than that? WELL HOW THE HELL IS SHE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT IF YOU DONT SAY ANYTHING, IDIOT. Then with Cat, he looks down at "high flyers" but then calls himself one, and calls it "Ironic" no that makes you condescending. Now Lilly is such a strong person and I get that she didn't want to Theo but I felt they were both at fault, she was trying to start a relationship with him, and she should have told him. Despite all this, I still loved them together.

OKAY THAT FUCKING CLIFF HANGER. GUYS. I REMEMBER READING "LAYERS" AND ALL THIS DRAMA WITH IS FUCKING KILLING ME. I WILL NOT ALLOW THIS SHIT AGAIN. I REFUSE.

I don’t know where to start with this review!!

Ok, firstly, I like the cover. It screams “bet on black, came up red” and I think that sets the tone for this book.

Millionaire man-whore Theo lived the typical playboy lifestyle. No girl was off limits. He ran his businesses hard but he played harder. Fuck ‘em and move on to the next one was most definitely his motto. Theo and Hugo epitomised the “too much money too young” psyche. I couldn’t decide if I was more like Hugo or Theo lol (pre-marriage!) But I think I was probably more like Theo as I never had to pay for it ;-)

Enter flame haired, green eyed, legs-to-die for Lilly. Instant hard-ons for all the guys, particularly Theo. They came to a bit of an unconventional “relationship” that they both thought they could stick to.

What differs in this book to the other millionaire falls for sexy girl stories, is Lilly. Lilly wasn’t a virgin. She was as laddish in her attitude as Theo and Hugo. She was out for a good time and was no pushover or easy lay. Theo had to work really hard to get anywhere with her! It wasn’t the alpha male who ran, or had commitments issues, it was the alpha female! That made a refreshing change.

The banter between Theo and his mates, and Lilly and hers, was, at times, hilarious. I had to laugh at the twin incident with Hugo…yep that could happen. And that’s the thing about this book, everything that was depicted in this story was real. The way Theo and Hugo were voiced by the author was spot on how blokes talk. The added swears but also the whole tone of their conversations and the subject of their chats…well they were straight out of a man’s mouth!

I found the whole story to be totally captivating. I watched in awe as Lilly turned down Theo time and time again, even though the attraction was there. I could feel her torment as she wrestled with her feelings.

I loved how this was a British author writing a British book where knickers were knickers, jeans were jeans, and everything that came out of anyone’s mouth was totally British! Maybe Americans will need a translator app lol.

Absolutely brilliant! I absolutely loved it, and I’m off to read the next book.

5 fuck-buddy stars from me.

I normally love Lovell. I love her writing. But this book made me rage. The hero and the heroine made me want to reach in and smash their heads together.

The hero is an arrogant prick who thinks he's God's gift to women. The heroine internal monologue was okay at first but then after a few encounters with the hero it turned into "You can resist.","Oh, he's so hot.","No, you can resist."

So annoying. This just wasn't for me.

P.S. Who the freak names their dick Rambo?

4.5 stars!!

I love picking up a book and being totally surprised and enthralled by a new author. I could not put down Besieged once I started. It is uber-sexy, scorchingly hot, but with a fantastic story that kept my attention until the last page and left me dying for more from this author! Warning: the build up to these two having sex is just as hot as when they actually get together and this book requires a cold shower or two! My favorite kind of book!

Theo is a wealthy London businessman and Lilly works for his solicitor (lawyer in the U.S.). She’s smart, sarcastic, funny and drop-dead sexy. Alhtough this might sound a tad familiar, the author really does a great job with Lilly and Theo’s story as well as with making the city of London a character in the book. I absolutely loved the club scenes as well as the well-written supporting cast of family and friends.

Lilly and Theo have some F***-HOT scenes and they literally cannot keep their hands off each other. Theo is a confirmed bachelor, he has never even wanted to spend any time at all with a woman, let alone commit to anyone. Lilly only uses guys for sex, so they enter into a no-strings-attached sexual relationship. But Lilly makes Theo fight for her at first, she’s stubborn, feisty and also very funny.
She’s no pushover and is painfully aware of his player status.

Theo can’t resist Lilly and what I loved about him is that he is totally honest with her. When he begins to develop real feelings for her, he puts himself on the line and does not play games.

I realise that now I know what it is to have her…I can’t go back. I will fight for her, no matter what.

All in all, I highly recommend this fantastic, sexy debut by L.P. Lovell. It’s modern, totally hot and has characters that I really care about and who I really bonded with. The only thing keeping this from being a 5-star read for me was the pacing and editing which will probably go unnoticed by most readers but interrupted the flow for me. I was thrilled to read that this author will be paying closer attention next time and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this series. Grab Besieged, let it take you on a sexy trip to London, and enjoy!

Well this is a 4.5 star-er, but im rounding up to 5 because I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I had it on my tbr list for a while but kept putting it off because I didn’t think I’d like or was in the mood for not just a hero-man-whore but an equally whorish heroine (or so it seems in the blurb). I usually like the whole shy-damsel-in-distress thing for my heroines, but after reading just the first few chapters I realised that type of woman would NOT last long with Theo (said man-whore).
In this book you get both POVs, and ive got to say, Theo is every bit a womaniser as the blurb claims him to be, and then some. He is unashamedly arrogant. Case in point, he not only knows that his killer-panty-melting-smile flusters women, but he expects the whole blushing-turning-away reaction from EVERY woman he meets. So you can imagine his dumbfounded reaction when he meets Lilly. She is immune to his charm, at least that’s what it seems when we read from his POV. In actual fact she is attracted to him and works very hard to appear the opposite. She is feisty, funny and gives as good as she gets. She knows and uses her strengths when it comes to men, and ive gotta say, I loved her for it. My typical heroine would be eaten alive by Theo. Not Lilly. Oooohhhh no!
So the first part of the book consists of Theo chasing after Lilly (I like!) and Lilly refusing his advances, appearing defiant in her actions, but reading her POV you see how vulnerable she is deep down. Sigh. The two eventually come to an ‘arrangement’ which quickly develops into something more. Some hiccups along the way, building up toe the finale. I knew something was guna hit the fan, and it did. Big time. A cliff-hanger that has me stalking goodreads for the release date for book 2.

Great, sexy, emotional read. 4.5 stars

This was a great book. Most of it was worthy of 5 stars. However, I so strongly disagreed with some of Lilly's words and actions, I had to remove a star.

Lily has a troubled past. Through the hints left throughout this book's pages, it seems her history is quite similar to mine. And although we all deal with trauma differently, and maybe I couldn't quite put myself in her shoes, she was a tad OTT. I admired her strength and perseverance. I respected the hell out of this young woman. Just some of what she did gave me pause.

Theo was AMAZING!! Classic manwhore-turned-romanticonewomanman!! At times I actually felt sorry for him. I feel like Lilly kind of broke him. He went from this dominant, arrogant, cocky, self-assured ladykiller to a soft, sweet pussy. The man was practically begging her to be with him. I'd read that he begged her, she gave in, she left, and then he's begging again. That just ain't right!! He must have the patience of a saint because I would've booted her ass to the curb long ago. He's gorgeous. He's capable of love. He's rich. I'm sure he could find someone deserving. This made me dislike Lilly even more!!

The side characters were woven in the story in such a way that I wanted to know more about what they were doing. I'm glad to see book four is Hugo and Molly's story. Should be good cuz that man is a riot!! Rambo lol.

Well I'm still invested in the story, for Theo's sake. I want him to have a HEA even if it's with Lilly.

Started great, even though I didn't like the writing style. Great alpha, possessive, jealous hero moments, and great sexual tension. But that's all it had going for it. None of the characters were consistent, and all the lovely possessive alpha behavior was spoiled by weakass emotional man behavior. Plus there was cheating, which pissed me the fuck off, and pregnancy resulting from that cheating AND no HEA, which I don't remember seeing noted anywhere.

Anyway, can't be bothered to write everything that was wrong about this. Refer to this review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Wonderful story but a major cliffhanger which is a big No, No for me. I usually lose interest if the next book takes three or more months to be publish. Thanks to the talented Ms. Lovell for keeping me entertained on the first half of the book. I'll wait for the reviews of "Conquered" if it also have a cliffhanger or if it has a happy ending (which I hope it has) before I buy it.

All in all it's a brilliant debut.

Typical as typical can be...

Although I enjoyed this book I find it is so predictable, a typical plot I'm sure we've all read many times over.

FAIR WARNING!!! SPOILER COMING UP AHEAD!!!

I literally just finished this book and I am writing this review as tears roll down my cheeks. I am heart broken over the way this book ended but yet so incredibly happy that book 2 is already out! LP Lovell definitely takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions in this love story about a billionaire playboy who experiences love for the first time with a girl fighting to survive her horrific past.

"I live every minute, every hour, every day locked in an epic internal battle where strength fights weakness in a bloody dual, but strength must conquer or weakness will consume all that I am, all that I have fought so hard and risked everything to become." ~ Lilly

In most books where the author has written an alpha male hero, we are given a demure, innocent heroine. Not in this one! Lilly is strong, smart, and assertive. I loved Lilly's character and it was refreshing to read about a woman taking charge not only in the corporate world, but also in the bedroom! Though emotionally guarded, this girl was sexy, seductive, and held nothing back. She knew exactly what she wanted and went after it!

Theo is your classic Christian Grey. I know it is crazy, but I compare all billionaire playboys to Mr. Grey! Minus the red room of pain, Theo was one HOT man. He's beautiful, rich, and says dirty words in a way that he could melt any woman's panty's off! Talk about steamy scenes that make you feel the need to fan yourself! These two characters had explosive, raw chemistry. You could feel the heat coming off the page! Just as it was thigh clenching, it was enduring yet emotional to watch Theo evolve from a selfish womanizer into a swoon worthy book boyfriend. I did however break my heart to watch Lilly struggle with opening herself up to Theo and finally letting him love her.

In addition to well written main characters and storyline, I really enjoyed the relationships that Theo had with his sister, Cat, and best friend, Hugo. Lilly's best friends and roommates, George and Molly, where also a sweet addition. It is always a bonus to have supporting characters that you fall in love with as well. There are several ups and downs and a surprise twist in Theo and Lilly's journey that I think the reader will enjoy.

From start to finish, I really liked this book and I am anxious to start book 2! There are so many layers to this story and I feel like there is so much more to come! I would definitely recommend this book. This is my first LP Lovell novel and it will not be my last!

"The difference between me and everyone is...I've endured more pain and betrayal than most people could dream of. I have endured the stuff of nightmares and yet here I stand, fighting for strength. You know what they say though...Diamonds are made under pressure."~Lilly

Review from Bookish Treasures, http://bookishtreasures.blogspot.co.u...

This book was fantastic, plain and simple. It starts off from the perspective of the all too familiar manwhore character, Theo. He’s shameless in his pursuits and has no desire for a different way of life. Then he encounters the heroine and she lays down a gauntlet he just can’t resist. This is part of why I love this book so much. He doesn’t go through an instant transformation, he simply finds himself entertained by her tactics and, when presented with an opportunity, desperate to conquer her. This is something I can buy into much more than the typical scenario of the man finding himself desperately attracted to someone at first sight for no apparent reason.

The heroine, Lilly, is badass. She is the unapologetic modern woman most single women aspire to be. She doesn’t confuse sex with emotions, she exerts total control over her sex life, and she never, ever lets herself be played. She is attracted to Theo but refuses to be conquered in bed by a player and has little respect for his slew of conquests. This leads to an entertaining battle of wills where each character demonstrates their impressive skills of seduction.

It is made pretty clear upfront that Lilly’s formidable persona is meant to protect her extremely vulnerable core. The extent of her vulnerability is gradually revealed in a natural progression as is Theo’s transition from a manwhore to a loving boyfriend. There is a lot of steamy sex in this book and after a certain point I have to admit to skimming some of the sex scenes because I was anxious to see the plot develop. That’s not to say that the scenes were stale in any way but I’m not quite sold on the sex to plot ratio. There was plenty of the requisite heartbreak in this story and, unfortunately, it ends on a bitter note. I saw the final conflict a mile away but it didn’t detract from the story because it fit so well and is devastatingly effective.

I really enjoyed this book because while there was the typical fantastically rich, sex-on-a-stick, male character, the female lead was absolutely awesome and completely captivating. The alternating POVs were a perfect fit as well and I can’t seem to resist a shameless man’s perspective these days. I will anxiously await the next book and will just have to bide my time contemplating the following quote from the book…Diamonds are made under pressure.
