By the looks of some other reviews, I guess I'm in the minority on this one. I felt like everything about this book went from zero to sixty in the blink of an eye. From childhood to adulthood; from a divorce to a rekindled romance; from hello to doing it in the grass to living together to pregancy to death to fighting to making up to the baby's coming right now.... There was no real build up to anything - everything just happened. It made the story come off choppy to me. Even the character's conversations seemed sort of forced and just off or out of what you'd expect from that character. Not sure I'll continue on with this series.

Looking through the other reviews for this story, I'm definitely in the minority. There was obviously something the other readers really liked and I either overlooked or it just didn't resonate with me. From the beginning, I had problems with the simple and stilted sentences/dialogue. The writing didn't feel very developed or mature to me. Although the writing was more young adult, the subject matter was too serious to be written so lightly. The domestic abuse, spousal rape, and then Bobby's violent tendencies were treated so casually and nonchalantly it was disturbing and very difficult for me to overlook. Something else - the rock star had unprotected sex with the recently raped housewife (by her husband who was out and about doing who knows what) and no one was concerned about health issues. It was ok because she couldn't get pregnant - surprise, she can! After about midway into the story I started skimming, after reading "The one who looked to be foreign shook my hand next. "I'm Manny.""

Okay, I saw this title and thought,
How in the world did I miss this
book. I love K. Webster, so of course
I immediately clicked.

I was vastly disappointed. I could go
on and on and ramble and rant about
everything that did not work for me,
but I am going to condense it in a
few short observations.
1. Bobby was a douche
2. June was a doormat
3. June escapes abusive relationship
4. Bobby our hero, becomes the
abusive relationship.
4. Timing was off, everything
went super fast
5. Not believable in any realm
6. Had possibility of greatness, but
this was just horrible.

I was so disappointed in this book.

There were so many things about this book that bothered me.

*Everything happens at warp speed. Nearly every thing that happens is way too rushed. The dialogue felt stilted and unnatural.

*Bobby is a psycho. Everything about him just screamed RED FLAG, RUN!!!! He uses drugs, is abusive (multiple times) to June and generally acts like a crazy person. Wanting to bruise your previously abused girlfriend so everyone will know who she belongs to? RUN!!!! He's known that he loves June (his muse) since he was 12, but never tried to contact her in 15 years, even though she lives in the same small town?

*June finally leaves her husband after he hits her, yet doesn't contact the police, even after he sexually assaults her. She makes all kinds of excuses for Bobby's behavior, even though he seems to act much like the nut job she's been married to for 7 years. She's unaware that Bobby is a rock star, even though he's famous? The fact that June doesn't insist on Bobby (a manwhore) using a condom, made me see that tired plot device coming a mile away.

*What kind of person gets in a fist fight at their own father's funeral?

*June refers to Manny as "the foreign looking one". I don't even have the words. And Manny's "confession" about his life was so completely stupid it made me want to throw my Kindle at the wall.

*For such a short story there was way too much sex. And for a book that is dealing with some heavy issues, the tone seemed really dismissive of the seriousness of those issues.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book. It struck every emotion in me. I laughed, cried several times, I even had the big ugly cry.
Bobby had me fanning myself and falling in love with him at every turn. He has this endless love for everyone in his life, his band mates included. They are a tight group of badass, hot, tattooed and pierced guys. They know how to push each others buttons and it is hilarious!
June is a tough woman and she does not take crap from anyone. She will tell you how it is. I love that about her. She went through a lot, but she still held her head high. She has been going through the motions, but not loving life. She wants to love life, and Bobby just may be her way to happiness.
Bobby and June are put through a lot to try and make this new relationship work. They must learn to trust, forgive and move on.
I truly loved this book. I highly recommend reading it and falling in love with these characters the way I have.

I struggled with this, the premise looks brilliant - a rocker love story with a long lost friend ... sign me up. Sadly this just did not work for me, I found the writing to be stilted and dare I say it, immature.

There was quite a lot going on in the story, but I felt it never really took off. Very little plot and character development. June started off as a doormat with her first marriage and the way Bobby was with her was just as bad, and she clearly didn't learn her lesson the first time round - she freaking let Bobby do it to her over and over. Nope. That didn't work - at all.

Disappointing.

The idea of the book was great, but the execution poor. I was looking forward to seeing June become a strong woman after getting out of her abusive marriage, but all she ended up doing was substituting one arsehole for another. Granted, Bobby wasn't physically abusive, but verbally, very much so! And she just took it again and again like the doormat that she was.

Okay I almost gave this 3 stars, just for the cheesy predictability of some of the plot points... but man did the spicy scenes deliver! I know I can always count on K for those. And the romance was very sweet.

4/5 Stars

What is it about Rock stars that makes me all HOT and TURNED ON?

I think it is just the vibe they give however when you add a little country to the mix it takes it to a whole new level of HOT! K.Webster made my heart swell with this book it is such a beautiful story. It made my heart fill with joy and seriously made my Friday even better!

Rock Country begins with a flashback of Bobby and Junes early days when they were younger and were the best of friends, even tho they were so young they knew they loved each other and that love wasn't something neither could ever let go of.

It speeds up 15 years and June is married to a Ass Munch Markwayne seriously what kind name is Markwayne no offense to those of you who have that name but you have to admit just off the bat you know its a douche name. He is a woman beater and after 7 long years he pushes it to far and beats June so bad she decides its time to get out so she leaves back to her mamas.

Bobby is now in a famous band called The Aces he plays they guitar and he is one sexy man I just wanted to lick him from head to toe. The best thing about him is he all tatted up which even makes him yummier. He is such a sweetie to June it melted my heart!

Bobby never stopped loving his little June Bug  all these years and when he sees he cant keep his hand or lips off her. June is a little upset that he hasn't ever came back and wants to know why he is only coming back now that his dad is near death. Bobby has to explain himself and June cant help but love Bobby. There is some Fights,Death, hot band mates Donnie and Chaz are just to die for!

I also have to mention there will be a baby added to the mix which is the best part and makes the book so beautiful.

Bobby and Junes story was the cutest thing and really made me in a good mood

K. Webster added just the perfect amount of romance without forgetting the hot steamy sex.

PERFECT WEEKEND READ!

Read it! Fantastic read!Amazing start to a new series by Author K. Webster. This book was hot!!! Bobby & June are totally loveable main characters. Bobby is the hot as sin badass rocker from The Aces, and June is basically the girl that got away. June and Bobby were best friends when they were kids but were seperated when Bobby's mom moved away with him. Flash forward to adulthood where we see them reunite and the sparks fly. June was in a terrible marriage, she had an awful and abusive husband and was a shell of her former self, the minute Bobby came back into her life we saw June come back to life. Bobby has some personal demons that he is fighting and it is June who helps make him get through it all. The amount of passion and love between these characters is undeniable. You will really feel for Bobby and June and you will feel all of the emotions the characters go through. I also loved the secondary characters, Bobby's bandmates and I cannot wait for each of their books to come out! Well done K. Webster ♥

This Novella is one of my favorites! I LOVE BOBBY!! You might be laughing at first... but it might soon turn to tears and the feeling of longing. While Bobby finds success where he ends up, June is left to grow up without her only friend, in a town where shes stuck... with her "high school sweetheart" husband... He may not be as sweet as he sounds... When a huge deception is brought to light and Bobby ends up back home.... is he too late..?!? Will he be able to build a relationship with his father after 15 years...? Is June still the same after just as long...? When a simple neighborly gesture turns into the best of friends being reunited... is their a friendship left to rekindle ... or did he wait to long to find out....? Can June remain in that small town she hates, with the husband she got stuck with... or will she finally have her chance at happiness and the friendship she lost so long ago?!? Will more lies change their path forever..? Can Bobby leave June again... especially after knowing how lost she feels...? So many unanswered questions... Theirs only one way to find out....

Overall Rating 5 Stars
I received a copy for her upcoming blog tour! This book was fantastic, and beautifully written. I really enjoyed it. The story line was different and unique. The characters we incredible.
June and Bobby always loved each other, but Bobby was ripped from her because he had to move away from his father. Years past and June got married to a jerk who ended up abusing her. It was so sad, broke my heart. Bobby had to return to town because of his father. Will sparks fly when they are reunited? Will they get the HEA they both want so bad? This book is a must read. The secondary characters are also incredible. This book is very emotional, I laugh and I cry.
The auther did a wonderful job on this book. It is a quick read but it doesn’t go to fast. I think the author is very talented and brilliant. I would definitely read more books from her.

Staying in the middle with a 3

I thought it was good, but not great.

It came across as a bit simple and fast. I felt it was- oh, here's a major life problem, let's just quickly solve it with a tidy, perfect bow. It was a little TOO perfectly tied together at times. Would have liked to see Bobby work more to get June. I praised her for her strength early on, but honestly, Bobby started showing some of the same traits as Markwayne, yet she kept taking him back. It didn't make sense to me.

I love the characters individually. Chaz and Donnie are a riot. I will definitely keep reading for those two! Plus, I do realize this one of KW's earlier works. I know she's evolved as a writer since this was published. So I have high expectations that the next of these improve with each one.

I enjoyed this book and was sad when it ended. I found all of the characters entertaining. Bobby's bandmates especially made me giggle. Bobby was more messed up than I thought. His drug use and reactions while on drugs made the story more interesting and dramatic. The lies that June's ex told gave it a nice twist, too! Bobby was a little too emotional of a guy for me. I tend to roll my eyes and think "What a drama queen this guy is" when he cries too often for my liking. Overall, I had my eyes glued to the page and am glad I read it!

This book was like listening to a country song. It was sweet, tender and all about true love. Bobby and June were best friends. When Bobby left June never forgot the friendship and love she had for him. When circumstances bring Bobby back and right back into the path of June love ignites once again. Although I loved Bobby there were times I wanted to reach into this book and give him a good shake. If you are looking for a sweet love story about friends discovering love with little drama this is a good one.

All the feels you could every want

K. Webster I started reading your books not so long ago and was blown away by each and everyone of them. I don't wanna say to much about the guts of this book. When you start to read this heartfelt story about June bug and Bobby , It will make you feel as if you are feeling exactly what they are feeling right at that moment. K. Webster has made each of these characters come to life. They will make you laugh , cry ,get angry and be sad. Most of all you be able to stop reading it. It's that good.. This has been the best book I have ever read in a very long time. I highly recommend Rock Country to each and ever person out there who reads. It feels like home with Manny, Donnie, Chaz and Bobby. I would definitely recommend reading the next book in this series. "Rock Heart". To find out what is going to happen next. I know i am . You won't regret it... The Vegas Aces Series.....

I loved parts of this book and disliked others, plus I enjoyed the ending and look forward to reading the other two books in the series. It can be read as a stand alone. There are many emotional and disturbing scenes re domestic violence, plus erotic romance scenes. I did feel the emotional tug between the H/h.

K Webster is a favourite author of mine and this book was one of her earlier ones and it was a bit all over the place. I feel that if she had left out some of the many, many erotic scenes - slotted into what I thought were innapropriate sections - this would have been a much more intense read and I would have rated it much higher. It was as if she thought - "oh, I haven't written a sex scene for a few pages, let me just slot another one in"... Gets a bit 💤 after a while. 3.5 stars to round it up.

I hate that I’m giving one of my top 5 favorite authors a 2 star review but I honestly couldn’t stand the heroine in this book. The writing seemed different which was fine it just wasn’t what I have come to expect. I thought the plot had a lot of potential but wasn’t what I was expecting.

Like I was so proud of her I’m the beginning. But everything went to shit after. I know the hero was going through so much but that doesn’t mean that she had to just take it. I mean she was like “he crossed a line I’m done now”. All he had to do was say sorry and kiss her and she was ok.

***SPOILER****

I mean he accused her of trying to trap her. Being a liar sand a bunch of other things. She just accepted it. No groveling no real strong apology. It drove me nuts.

A Look Back

Okay, this book was written eight years ago, and is pat of K Webster's early work. To answer the question, you can tell it is an earlier work. Here are the positives; it's got a good storyline and the character's are sweet. Here's what's lacking; the story should have been fleshed out more and there isn't a gradual build of angst or insight into the character's backgrounds. The writing is simplistic, and the intimate scenes feel repetitive. If there is anything I can say, it's that her writing, character development, and storylines and plots got better over time. Nonetheless, I find this story enjoyable.

Bland…

I didn’t see any plot development in this book, or character maturity from the H and h either. Am a sucker for this genre and for second chance romances. This book makes me cover my face in shame. Imagine having sex with your so called childhood friend as soon as you met after a decade plus, while still married to an abusive man who beat you up a day earlier. You continue to do so too, till you get divorced. Oh wait, the said bf started verbally abusing and manhandling you to booth. The plot? What plot…

Probably the most pitiful story ever. June bug is just the nastiest thing to be called. Markwayne is husband who beats her living in a trailer.. well, stereotype me white trash. June is a sweet heart and knows she deserves better than Markwayne. The problem is that I never see Bobby being a better solution. Bobby seems to want to paw her or berate (still abuse) and he just got on my nerves with his big beat down of Markwayne to walk into the house and want sex with June. Just so trashy...

Just didn't work for me at all. Liked the premise, but it's just not well conceived all the way through. I can handle characters that are a hot mess, but they kept saying sorry, and I forgive you without showing any real work to try and change and make things different. On the one hand I can feel the connection, but there wasn't enough time with the band together with June for me to feel that connection later. Just didn't work for me.

I am sure there is a younger audience that might like this but not me.
Silly hick girl managed to get a divorce in 6 weeks from an abusive husband. She also re connects with her childhood friend who now happens to be a pill popping, tatted and pierced rock star.I
He and his friends fight a couple of times with each other and beat up ex - husband.

They instantly fall in love, get pregnant then marry. Happy and silly
