Volume three in the McCabe saga. Johnny McCabe rides to California to visit the grave of his late wife, and to visit a brother he hasn't seen in 17 years. But everything with his brother is not as it appears. A story of the Old West, of family and friendship, and second chances. A story of burying the past and reaching for the future. A story of the McCabes.
Brad was born in rural New England and grew up reading Louis L'Amour, Luke Short, A.B Guthrie, Jr., and even Edgar Rice Burroughs. He knew at 14 he wanted to write for a living, and refused to give up the goal even when the odds seemed overwhelmingly against it. Now, thanks to Amazon, his stories are now available. He is a member of the Western Writers of America
Brad fell in love with the Old West at a very young age. It began with movies and old TV series like GUNSMOKE and BONANZA, and later expanded to western novels. This led to his study of western history. The pioneers, the Indians, the cattlemen, the gunfighters. His interest in history is not so much about wars and great leaders, but the people who lived on the land. And that's what he writes about. The people. He doesn't write about the old west as much as he writes about what it might have felt like to be there.
He loves contact from readers. He can be reached by email at mccabewesterns@gmail.com if you want to discuss his stories, or even just the American West in general.
Manipulation, lies, another man's son. This book#3 of Johnny McCabe has a lot of intrigue, bushwackers, a manipulative wife who walked all over her husband, she gave birth to a son Hiram, who isn't Matt McCabe's son. Set her husband up to be murdered by her man servant who is really the father of Hiram, her son. Verona McCabe, ruthless, is her middle name, this woman was all about herself and how she wanted to build an empire, of wealth and power..If you got in her way, you disappeared, no problem. There's also selective genetics involved her son Hiram whom was her man servant son, she didn't want any son's she had from Matt McCabe, because she couldn't manipulate them. This is a moving, backstabbing, who done it, and kill them all. Lots of moral/ethical issues are tapped in book... You know read the adventure and draw your own conclusions..I like WESTERNS/OATERS
I am really loving these books on the McCabe family. They are as good as the books by William W. And Jo Johnstone on the MacCallister family. Now on to the next book.
I'm slowly losing interest in this series, but still a very good book. I never knew cowboys were in touch with their personal feelings and could share so openly with others.
Some books are just books. The McCabe books are more than books to me. I actually see them in my mind as I read the story of the McCabes. I was a small kid the first time this happened to me. After I finished a book, I went back to look at the pictures again. I knew there were dozens of pics. I couldn’t find a single one. This doesn’t happen often to me, but it happens to me with every single one of Brad Dennison’s McCabe books!
Who couldn't love the McCabe's and what they believe in...the strength that built this country? This book also tells of the greed and ruthlessness of others that has not diminished today. This book is well written with characters that have great depth. Highly recommended.
This book in the series was a slow starter for me but it picked up and delivered a good story. Didn't care for the ending. It just stops leaving you hanging.
Book 3 of the McCabes takes Johnny back to California to visit his late wives grave, and the brother he hasn't seen in nearly 20 years. He then defends a woman and her daughter who his brothers wife is trying to drive off her land.
I so enjoy this Swiss series. The men are men and women are women, but they don't just stick to the traditional roles. I also enjoy not having to skip the pond scenes as so many think we need or want. Fantastic job!
I love how the book is written. Keeps your attention to the point of not wanting to put it down. Love how all the brothers are back together except for one. Would highly recommend it. Great read.
Another excellent book. Lots of action and surprises. Good overcomes evil with a little romance thrown in. I enjoyed it tremendously and plan to read the next book in the series as soon as I can pull it up.
Again another good book, i think the SERIES is a good thing i wonder more about the old west and how close is the story to real life at that time in the west, and how was the rest of the usa in thoose day.
Johnny returns to California to visit his late wife's grave and his brother. What he finds is more than he could have asked for. Great continuation of series.
Another well-told, epic story with only one caveat. The author definitely needs a proficient proofreader/editor! Far too many errors/typos for me to overlook. Otherwise, an outstanding book!
The story of he family and the country they travel thru is a fun read . Finding new lands to ride had to a large part of their life right up to the end. D C.
I have enjoyed all the McCabes series. Each story is engaging and enjoyable. Thank you for a well written story that is not the same o same o from my other western writing.
That was a good book I have a lot of twist and turns the language was good the story held your attention right up to the end Did end a little abrupt With highly recommended
Many things in this book made no sense. For example, riding from California to Montana via Texas. Or ignoring the death of a close friend who lived with the family and protected them for 20 years.
