Water Walker - Episode 2

Rate this book
**This is EPISODE TWO of a FOUR part serialized novel**

WATER WALKER is the mind-bending thrill ride from New York Times bestselling author Ted Dekker which can be experienced THREE different ways. You choose:

1. As an episodic story. Read WATER WALKER as four shorter sequential "episodes" much like your favorite TV show. The ride begins with Episode 1. Think of it as the pilot, which you can try free. No strings attached. If you like the story, continue with Episode 2 (Feb 25), Episode 3 (Mar 4), and the grand finale Episode 4 (Mar 11).

Or...

2. As a single, novel length eBook. Don't want to read four episodes? No problem. Starting March 18th, you can get the entire story in one digital edition that collects all four episodes into one seamless story.

Or...

3. As a paperback. For those who love print, Water Walker is also available in paperback on March 18th.

FROM THE BACK COVER:

"My name is Alice Ringwald, but the man who kidnapped me says that's a lie."

Thirteen-year-old orphan Alice Ringwald has no memory beyond six months ago. The only life she knows is the new one she's creating one day at a time with the loving couple that recently adopted her and gave her new hope. That hope, however, is shattered one night when she is abducted by her birth mother and plunged into a world as mysterious as her past.

So begins Water Walker, a modern-day parable that examines the staggering power of forgiveness, and reminds us that it's possible to live free of the hurt that keeps our souls in chains. (YA)

This episode didn't have the same intensity of action as Episode 1. But we learn a lot about Eden/Alice as we see her grow into a young adult.

Five years pass during the episode and the influence of Zeke over the family is revealed.

Eden has a fascinating dream in the final chapter which reveals the extent of how bound she is by fear and explains the title of the book.

I missed not seeing Olivia Strauss in this episode and hope she reappears in Episode 3.

Looking forward to this week's third instalment.

Episode 2 shows Eden learning to live with her family and what is required of her. On the surface, it seems the family are absolutely bonkers as they look to Eden as their savior, trying to keep her pure. But Ted Dekker is the master of symbolism. Eden can't possibly keep all the rules. She cannot save anyone, not even herself. The family know they have no hope of saving themselves and are looking for someone to take their sins from them.

Water Walker Episode 2 Part two is as great as part one!

Still has a lot of twists and was a little surprised at who this character actually is!

I can not wait to see how this developes! At this point in time she does not remember her past yet, but she is having dreams!

Has me totally hooked and anticipating part three!

The second installment opens with Alice/Eden being "saved" in a very unusual way. But the price of staying "pure" means a whole new set of rules for her alone and a weekly baptism which had been going on for 5 years. For 5 long years she felt as though she were in hell with no way out. The emotional burden was terribly confusing for an 18 year old.
If Eden was such blessing, why did she feel like a prisoner in her own home?
And then she meets OUTLAW...Jika, Jika, jawa

This superb pseudo-sequel of Showdown satisfies, surprises, and makes you salivate for more Awesome Sauce! This is classic Dekker and (in my opinion) much better than his last serial novel, Eyes Wide Open. It's dark. The characters are interesting. The backstory is full of mystery. What will happen next? Inquiring minds want to know!

I loved it! I wasn't expecting the twist (well really, the twist wasn't the kind I was expecting), but I'm curious as to where it will go from here.

This is definitely one of my favorites by Ted Dekker. He has intricately woven together a story of abuse, greed, forgiveness, and finally, freedom. It's an amazing story.

The story might be a bit far-fetched, but the lesson to be learned a valuable one. The author's insight in love and forgiveness is spot on.
Kept me turning the pages!
