A touchy-feely book with simple, repetitive text. It features bright, colourful illustrations with carefully chosen textures to touch and feel on every page.
Fiona Watt is an Editorial Director and writer at Usborne Publishing. She started working at Usborne in 1989 and has written and edited hundreds of books including baby and novelty, sticker, art and craft, cookery, science and activity books. Fiona graduated from Exeter University with a B.Ed. (Hons.), specialising in Psychology and Art and Design. After university she worked as a researcher and writer for a company which published educational material for places where children went on school visits (zoos, museums, stately homes etc). She then taught seven, eight, and nine year olds for five years; three years at a state school in Sevenoaks in Kent, and two years at The British School in the Netherlands in The Hague.
Having joined Usborne in 1989, Fiona became an editorial director in 2003, largely responsible for writing baby and novelty books, as well as art and activity titles. She has written over 100 titles for Usborne Publishing, perhaps most notably the, ‘That’s not my ….‘ touchy-feely series.
Jack borrowed this book from the Ashland Public Library. I picked it because he has enjoyed many other books in this series, and I am trying to get him to try new books again.
He seemed somewhat excited when I got the book out, and felt the pig’s nose. He got a bit distracted because some other kid had colored on the first page. He did feel some of the textures, but lost interest toward the end. I tried to engage him with pig snorts, which he loves, but no dice. Lol
My baby is born in the year of the pig, so I feel like I relate to this book. I like how this book can journey with my baby through his growing up years. Right now, he is scratching the different textures. I look forward to him growing up and trying to blend the sounds of the vocabulary words (not as easy as pie, if I may add!)
Watt the Heck #4 That's Not MY #4 Well this time it is a pig and everything else is exactly the same. Nothing amazing here, young ones can discover new textures, but really you only ever need to get one of these books, imagine if they did the series with one being about texture the next about colour, then some, then well you get it, but anyway...
A charming touch and feel book perfect for babies and toddlers. These series of books are a big hit with my daughter. Fun to read out loud for mom and fun for baby to feel the different textures. Very cute.
An awesome touch and feel book for baby and up about the reader trying to find their pig by ruling and out and touching other pigs ears, nose, etc. works with many age groups
Our little family has twenty of the books in this series and I love the little piggies, they're gorgeously illustrated and the touchy-feely elements are well done.
This is a sweet, cute, simple fun series for little ones to get their hands on. It is interactive and with the right storyteller, it can really fun. Great baby shower or birthday gift for little ones: 1month-2yrs. old.
