When she's not weaving tales of love that prevails, Patricia enjoys spending time with her husband, roaming the British countryside, where they have been living in for the past decade.
Now would be the time to let yourself go and experience the true magic of the Regency Era! Let your imagination run wild, live amazing adventures through the eyes of brave heroes! Like the legendary wise wizard, Patricia will be your guide!
I enjoyed this story. Lady Sophia's Cousin was forcing her to marry, Henry, a man she did not like. At a house party, she approached Duke Jasper and suggested they had a fake relationship until Henry lost interest in her. What starts out as a pretence grows into Sophia and Jasper developing feelings for each other. However, Henry is determined to win her hand and tries hard to turn them against each other. Sophia's other cousin, Ethan is weak and only interested in money. Her mother does not support Sophia in her determination not to marry Henry. Together with Sophia's mother Ethan supports Henry and nearly ruins everything for Sophia. Will Sophia and Jasper eventually be able to trust each other? Will they find happiness together? Read on and enjoy.
I have read thousands of books and I must say my one argument with them all is that, although the characters are strong in most ways, when it comes to matters of the heart, they go weak and watery. Stand up for yourselves! Would you really go into a marriage agreed by your relatives to a man you don't even like? We are talking the rest of you life here, in most instances that would be forty years, plus! So wouldn't you fight tooth and nail for something at least half decent? Anyway, apart from that and missing words througout, it was an okay story, but not very complex. Sorry!
I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I really not a “fan” of this author. She has great story ideas but so far of her books I’ve read, she can’t pull them off. Too wordy - Overly descriptive! No feeling in any of those “descriptive” words. Just wordy for no reason. The book had potential but it didn’t really pan out. Good idea, just no follow through. Sorry. Not sorry? 🤷🏾♀️. Yes I am sorry because I wanted to like this one. 2.5 stars.
The heroine’s cousin is all about money and wants her married. She goes to a house party to find a love match. The hero is hosting the party and invites his cousin (the man her cousin wants her to marry). She asks the hero for help, but only until the party ends. Then things get a little twisted. It was a nice read, but some name swapping happened that was irritating.
This is an interesting fake to real relationship with strong characters in Sophie and Jasper. The author does a great job developing the story and moves it fluidly with her descriptive scenes. It's well written and is an entertaining read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
First glances are not so friendly but later a different side is seen. But lies from another are taken to be seen as threatening & the real ruse is exposed only later it’s known to be completely false. And then true love may continue for Jasper & Sophia.
Jasper was a duke who did not have any problem with playing with other peoples lives. Sophia was able to get his aid to avoid in a marriage to one, and soon they feel for each other
Henry is persistently pursuing Sophie despite her not wanting him to they remedy at the duke’s house party all because the duke thought it would be an interesting game. Why did the duke think that and how does he get involved helping Sophie because of it? How do the duke get their hea through it all? Read this sweet clean story and find out
Interesting story, but there several repeated scenes at least it seemed that way to me. Sophia and Penelope's names were swapped as were the names Jasper, Ethan and Henry. These were distractions for me which is why I only gave it 3 stars.
This is a great book for intrigue, deceit, suspense, deception as everything I like in the book except action not a lot of action that’s OK many problems overcome some strange some normal I loved the storyline
Great characters made this a compelling read--from the hero and heroine to the dastardly suitor and the eccentric aunts. Another great book by Patricia Haverton.
He's a grouch until she busts into his study without a chaperone and tells him he's an ass and that he owes her a fake courtship, and then poof he's not a grouch anymore.
