Thank you to Fated Promos and River Kai for providing me with an arc to honestly review.

If you have been following me you know I am a fiend for 2 things more than anything else and that is Pregnancy and Omegaverse which this book has both. This is book 2 in a series and follows bisexual main characters who also are dealing with trauma and learning how to accept being loved after trauma. Our fmc has ptsd and ocd as well as escaped an abusive relationship. Our mmc has ptsd and other trauma we are slowly learning more about. These two are precious and this book follows them still healing together but also working towards the next steps in their lives including having a family.

Aliya has always known she wanted a family and Noah wants the same but due to Aliya’s past trauma she has a hard time feeling certain about what she wants and Noah doesn’t want to risk doing something they regret. I loved how this book handles both of them healing from their trauma and how it will never go away or stop getting triggered even in day to day life. We get to see them grow as partners in a way that feels so very equal and we also see Noah start to heal more and accept help.

I am very excited for book three as this book introduced the idea that just like how human genders are fluid and not set in stone that Lycan gender could be the same way. I have never seen this done in a book before for how River sets up this idea. I have always wanted to see someone play around with this idea that the secondary gender of a/b/o could be just as fluid as human gender and I think this was a very clever way to do that. It lead to some fun scenes between Aliya and Noah that fit their story very well.

I can’t wait for book 3 and I can’t wait to get my hands on it as I love these two so much. I love the ptsd representation in this book and I think it is so well done. I read book 1 not long after getting my diagnosis and it was so validating for me and I loved seeing Aliya and Noah not just accept each other with their diagnoses but love each other for it even more as they could understand the other.

"But as we court each other to the middle of the field with clashing lips and eager hands, the last of my fear evolves into excitement, knowing he's right here with me. And I'm right here with him."

Reuniting with Aliya & Noah feels like catching up with old friends—heart-fluttering, exhilarating, and oh-so-satisfying! River Kai delivers a reunion packed with depth, heat, and healing, and I am obsessed.
Noah is the ultimate green-flag shadow daddy, and Aliya’s growth beside him? Chef’s kiss. This book tackles tough, rarely explored themes with such grace and honesty—it’s freeing, validating, and deeply comforting. If you’ve ever faced abuse or violence, let this story be your healing companion. It sees you, holds space for you, and lights the way forward.
And the CHEMISTRY? Off-the-charts. The pining? Squeal-worthy. The way they explore each other—slow, sensual, and full of discovery—had me giggling like I’d stumbled upon something forbidden and delicious.
Without spoiling this masterpiece, just know: if you crave a story that lets you be vulnerable, raw, and unapologetically seen—this is your book.
Thank you, River Kai, for this gift. Now, excuse me while I dive into the trilogy’s final chapter—I’m not ready, but I need it. 💖

Another wonderful story

I love how gentle River Kai is about bringing up past traumas and how the characters handle it. My favorite part was how they both created a safe space to for each other. In doing so, being able to handle their past traumas. Also, the writing just drew me in. I couldn't put it down.

Its been a while since I’ve read book 1 but I honestly liked the 2nd book better. This is book 2 in a series and follows bisexual main characters who also are dealing with trauma and learning how to accept being loved after trauma. Our fmc has ptsd and ocd as well as escaped an abusive relationship. Our mmc has ptsd and other trauma we are slowly learning more about. Aliya has always known she wanted a family. We get to see them grow as partners in a way that feels so very equal and we also see Noah start to heal more and accept help. I absolutely love the side characters; Rainn, Yasmine, Amy, Kira, baby Lexi, Noah’s mom (forgot how to spell her name). Mason can dig himself a hole. I think book 3 wil be amazing!!

Thank you Fated Promos for an eARC for an honest review.

Freeing My Alpha is Book 2 in the My Shy Alpha series and is a continuation of the prior storyline. To understand the major plot points, it is highly advised to read My Shy Alpha prior to reading Freeing My Alpha.

Total Rating: 4.5/5

I loved seeing the progression of Aliya's and Noah's love story. River Kai is INCREDIBLE with character depths and building out how to work through not only the multiple layers of grief but also working through trauma. It was beautiful to see Noah open up more and allow Aliya to console and comfort him.

I'm looking forward very much to the third book and can't wait to continue the series!
