The Day of the Saints: Equipping Believers for Their Revolutionary Role in Ministry

Rate this book
Many Christians are looking for "the Day of the Lord" but before that day comes the Lord is preparing His Bride for His Divine purposes in the earth. All creation longs for that day - The Day of the Saints . This day is on God's prophetic timetable and is the day when the Saints will fulfill all the Scriptures regarding Christ's glorious church. The Day of the Saints is written with a sense of urgency and a surge of passion about God's great plans for His end-time people. With prophetic clarity, author Bill Hamon, fits together the Biblical directives and the spiritual power that will prepare and propel the saints of God into the world. The saints of God are called to take the message of the Kingdom into the marketplaces of the world and Dr. Hamon shows how all of history has been moving towards this magnificent end.

Having been part of the apostolic/prophetic restoration move in the past, there are so many things i identify with that are written in this book.

"The day of the saints" is quite a brilliant phrase to describe and capture what God is doing. Having restored the evangelist, the teacher, the pastor, prophet and the apostolic graces, the next thing then should be the equipping of the saints so that they can function in their various spheres as its recorded in Ephesians 4:12.

It would be retrogressive to restore all the graces then they remain isolated without really impacting and activating the saints as they were meant to do. I do agree that the 'super-star' man-of-God model is slowly dying off as greater understanding continues sipping in within the Body of Christ.

However, there are two things i can point out that made me want to give an opinion over:-

1. It felt like when the book was written, certain things were not yet restored and therefore they were still in the future. However, as at now, God has catapulted or leap-frogged the church much further into His agenda such that there are some thing written in this book that felt redundant.

2. A large percentage of the book has been dedicated to what God did in former moves such that it felt abit repetitive. I felt much more space could've been given in defining the day of the saints. Well, i do understand that prophetic perception can be limited and uncertain, but beside the saints been found in the the marketplace, how will that redefine leadership and effect church structures that are still modelled according to the 'four-walls' dynamic.

Nevertheless, there are some bombshell concepts the writer has spoken about that if adhered to will totally revolutionize the very definition of church. For example:-

- The fivefold ministers were given for the saints, not the saints for the fivefold ministers.
- The New Testament Epistles are addressed "To the saints" and not one book is addressed to an individual with a fivefold ministry title.
- In the first-century Church, the word "Minister" did not refer to a title of a clergy position but to a service rendered by the believer, therefore the local church should be a congregation of ministers (saints).
- In the day of the saints, the five-fold will not spark this move of God, but it will be a movement from the ground up NOT from top down.
- The Scripture does not say that Jesus gave fivefold ministers to serve the local church, but to "equip the saints" however and at whatever time and place since 98 percent of the saints are in the marketplace.

I recommend this book to any person serving within the context of the five-fold, but i would not be surprised if i see you running over some pages.

The author argue, after the pentecostal, charismatic, apostolic, and prophetic movement in the 1988, now it's time for the saints movement. The Saints would be redeemed Marketplace and other stage in our life. This book is the call to be the saints of the Lord.
