Just out of high school, Maisie was born and raised as a hunter in an era where vampires and hunters aren't exactly enemies, but they aren't friends either. She was raised to be the perfect daughter, taught to suppress her anxiety and be resilient. So when an opportunity presents itself to work for The Hunter's Guild, she jumps at the chance to prove herself, even if it means marrying a guy with whom she has a love-to-hate relationship.
Crispin has just been informed that he is the bastard prince of some wealthy and arrogant vampire family. The thing is, he's adopted and has no desire to be the prince of anything. Between controlling his bloodlust and tempering his young vampire anger, he has enough to worry about. But he still finds himself in a fake marriage to a girl who, it seems, would rather tie the knot with anyone else.
With wedding bells, blood bags, and the one-bed dilemma, can they survive this marriage?
I LOVE the Booker brothers and I LOVE Crispin and Maisie. I loved finally getting to see them together and see their story unfold. If you liked Too Sweet you'll definitely enjoy Absurd Delights as well, as it has the same funny, cute and angsty vibes. I enjoy Wildrose's way of writing banter so much and I have so much fun with her characters. I know they start really disliking-yet-flirting with each other but it was so sweet to see their relationship change.
In this book we learn a bit more about the vampires and the hunters and their history and conflicts, which was quite interesting. I should say it never feels like the stakes are very high until we get to the final conflict (which I would've appreciated if it had been carried a bit differently) so the overall feeling is a wholesome story where we just follow Maisie and Crispin, bonding and attending various events. Which I ADORED. They made me smile and giggle and kick my feet.
So if you like banter, the fake marriage trope and vampires, Absurd Delights is for you!
Absurd Delights was a fun and easy read that I managed to tick off my TBR pretty quickly.
I thought the vampire x vampire hunter dynamic was fun and done well, considering how short the book was. I think Maisie and Crispin are incredibly well written and I liked their chemistry as a couple. My only downside is the length of the book – I'm not expecting a 400-500 page novel, but with it being so short I found it to be rushed at parts where more plot development was needed.
This was exactly what I expected it to be, a cute fun little read.
It was a very easy read and I did enjoy it. But, and maybe this was due to the fact that it was quite a short book, I was not able to connect with the characters. To the point that it’s been a few weeks only since I’ve read this and I already do not remember anything about this book, not even their names.
Absurd Delights is an adorable HunterXVampire novel. It is the second in this world, but can function as a standalone. I did choose to read Too Sweet first and I would recommend it because it's wonderful. But you don't have to read it to understand what's going on here. You may just miss some of the backstory and minor character building that does happen in Too Sweet.
Maisie and Crispin are complex characters with unique motivations and issues. I found them both to be incredibly likable and relatable even when they were having *moments*. Their relationship bounces between friends and enemies as they try to figure out this new normal of fake marriage.
The story itself is solid, it makes sense and the plot definitely adds to the character building. It can be a little chunky in places, like jumping from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas without much in between. It makes sense with the pacing of the novel, but I wish we'd gotten to see how their relationship was building in more of the small moments in between too. I also wouldn't say the climax was a surprise, but it shouldn't have come out of left field with the clues we are given earlier on in the story.
Overall I really enjoyed this novel and would highly recommend it to someone who needs a light and cozy palette cleanser or just enjoys low-stakes romance!.

I honestly don't know how I can put all of my feelings about this book into words! First, I adored Too Sweet and was very excited to see Darcy, Briar, Crispin, Maisie, and all the other characters in Absurd Delights. Saying that, this book definitely did not disappoint! Maisie and Crispin's banter and thinly veiled dislike for each other was SO GOOD! Also, as an anxiety girlie myself, I loved Maisie and how her anxiety was portrayed. There were so many times I stopped and thought to myself, "Wow. How did Monroe Wildrose pick all the thoughts and experiences out of my brain?" Other than that, Maisie was relatable in so many other ways. Her people pleasing tendencies were really calling me out lol. Seriously though, I adored this book. The little glimpses of Darcy and Briar had me kicking my feet! I love both couples so much! Crispin was so considerate and sweet and gentle, and I think every girl, whether you have anxiety or not, needs a Crispin. I didn't think anyone could live up to Darcy, but he seriously proved me wrong. Monroe Wildrose writes each character with so much love and dimension, and I could not put this book down. Thank you so much to the author for allowing me to be an ARC reader for Absurd Delights. By far one of my favorite reads of this year!!!
So the reason I wanted to read this is because I loved the first book in the Booker Brothers duology "Too Sweet" and Crispin was one of my favourite characters in that book so I knew I had to read this one. Friends, this was everything I wanted and more. First of all, I will say if you have read "Too Sweet" this one is a little more adult than the first book in the series so please be prepared for that (it is still closed door though), however I feel like it suited Crispin and Maisie's story a whole of a lot more than being completely YA. If there was one thing I loved in the first book it was Crispin's sass and witty banter and with Maisie added this definitely has plenty of it but also allows us to see how much both of our main characters grow within this story. I love that the story is dual POV again so we get to know what both of them are thinking and feeling and how they react to the same situations that they are going through. This duology is forever going to be one of my favourites and I please recommend y'all to jump on Kindle Unlimited and read it especially if you love marriage of convenience, one bed tropes or vampire romances.
Every time I pick up a Monroe Wildrose book I know that I'm in for a witty adventure, and 'Absurd Delights' delivered beyond my expectations!
This second installment of the Vampire Booker Brothers (The first being 'Too Sweet') is stacked with a tantalizing Fake Marriage plot that is weaved with Wildrose's signature banter, compelling character development, fascinating Vampire & Hunter lore, and honest representation of living with anxiety and being vulnerable with someone you love. The main characters, Crispin and Maisie, go through so much together, and reading along with their growth as individuals and with each other was an incredibly rewarding experience as a reader.
In each chapter, I was left wanting more and on the edge of my bookish seat wondering what was going to happen next and if and when these stubborn enemies were going to become lovers (ssshhhhh). 'Absurd Delights' is a delightful read indeed that you don't want to miss out on!
I will always come back to Monroe’s books for the deeply fleshed-out characters, the prose, and the way she effortlessly draws emotions out of her readers.
Maisie and Crispin’s journey spoke to the deepest parts of my soul. Maisie’s battles with anxiety, and the gentle way Crispin loved her and all of her so effortlessly was nothing if not healing. Wildrose has done a stunning job representing the intricacies of anxiety, the insecurities we all deal with, and the beauty in learning to love oneself.
With every book, her writing grows, and her talent for romance and excellent storytelling shine brighter.
Absurd Delights is a heartfelt and tender story perfect for anyone who longs for friendship, adventure, and of course, the undeniable romance of falling in love.
I sat down to read this book at my kitchen table and accidentally read the whole thing in one sitting. While I did have an inkling about the twist, I really enjoyed the way it played out. This book had me laughing out loud, sitting on the edge of my seat, and smiling from ear to ear. I love the progression of Maisie and Crispin from angry and rebellious to I-would-do-anything-for-you. I think the flow from point A to point B was done nicely, and the pacing was good. It didn't feel bogged down or slow and kept me wanting to read "just one more chapter."
The only reason I can't give 5 stars is for the predictable twist. I saw it coming a mile away, but I still REALLY enjoyed the book, from beginning to end.

I truly have loved reading the Booker brother duology. The author has such an interesting take on vampires & how they function almost seamlessly in society while still having them struggle with blood thirst & control.
The story is described as low-stakes cozy paranormal , I believe that is perfect. Its really much “slice of life “ which I adore.
I said it with the first book, but goodness I would love to just watch these as a beautiful rom-com that I would never get sick up.
The MFC does have anxiety & I believe Monroe Wildrose handled it perfectly and gave it a realistic representation.
The romance , is done well. Pacing is decent. I enjoyed coming along as the main characters fall in love. The twist is a little predictable but does not take away from the story.
Maisie Pope is a teenage vampire hunter from a wealthy family of hunters. The Hunter's Guild decides they want to create a peaceful co-existence between the hunters and the vampires. So they want Maisie to marry Crispin Booker, a teenage vampire adopted by the Bookers when his parents died. Maisie and Cripin go through plenty of banter and adjustments as they sort of pretend to dislike each other. But there is a good possibility that their situation may change for the better. Will they be able to carry out the Guild’s plan despite Maisie’s anxiety issues? Or is marriage a bit over the top for these two to handle?
The chemistry between these two is less "will they, won't they" and more "will they kill each other before the honeymoon?" Their banter crackles with all the tension of a loaded crossbow, while the forced proximity (ah yes, the infamous single bed - how convenient) adds just enough spark to make this powder keg of a relationship absolutely explosive.
"Absurd Delights" lives up to its name - it's absurd in all the right ways, and delightful in all the best ones. Pour yourself a glass of something red, curl up in your favorite coffin, and enjoy this wickedly entertaining romp through love, bloodlust, and the perils of supernatural matrimony.
I’m in love with everything Monroe writes. This is no exception.
Maisie and Crispin were the best. This is a vampire x vampire hunter romance with arranged marriage to please the Order.
Maisie and Crispin are forced into this arrangement to try to wage peace between the two groups. They treat each other as if they despise one another when they’re really just angry with the situation. As time goes on they go from annoyed to friendly to more.
I wish a teensy weensy bit more time was spent and the relationship development. At times it felt like we just jumped to the next stage rather than getting to read about them discovering their fondness for each other. Other than that I loved these characters, their dynamics and their quirks. Both showed so much personal growth throughout and they are so smitten with each other at the end!
It was an easy read and had me laughing to the end. Thank you Monroe for an early copy!
It didn’t use the word, unalived, so it was already miles better than the first. I also loved the marriage of convenience. I definitely like these characters more than Darcy and Briar, they felt more real and not stereotypical. Although, Maisie’s pink obsession was a little out of hand.

I normally don't like reading romances with teenagers in them, but this one surprised me! I truly enjoyed the banter & flow of the writing. The story was fun to keep up with as well. I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a nice cozy read.

I like sleep, I need sleep. But… I put sleep aside to stay up and read this uninterrupted. It’s such a good story, the characters feel personable and like people you know in your everyday life. The world that’s been created feels alive and palpable. I will read the first book and this one again. Bravo!.

This was a great sequel in the Booker Brother Duet series. It had that element that I was hoping for and was invested I'm what was happening. The characters were everything that I was hoping for and worked in this type of setting.Monroe Wildrose wrote this well and was glad I got to read this.

Banter was great! Although the book is kinda short I feel like the characters were very well written. The representation made through Maisie was really good and Crispin seemed awesome as how to be there. I did read this one first so I'll have to now read Too Sweet but Absurd Delights was quite an enjoyable book. I'm also very curious about the whole "vampirism" concept.
This was a very interesting read. I thought I had some good humor. It was a definite page. Turner must read. I would definitely recommend it. It had a good storyline, great characters and amazing world.

LOVE. such a cozy sweet story. I loved the first book in the duology and this one was just as cute and sweet. I cried reading the ending, I’m sad the series is over but happy I read the last book :)
I really liked this one!! Again they feel their ages. And I love the fluff in this one. Maisie is so likeable. And her anxiety felt like mine so it spoke to me.
Very cute, and quick read. You really dont have to necessarily read the first book to understand the second book. Both couples are super lovable, the Booker brothers are precious.
Well another amazing book by Monroe. Definitely go read book one first if you haven’t already.
Diving into the store if Mais and Crispin was amazing. Seeing how these two grew together in their forced marriage was perfection. The twist at the grand father’s house, definitely didn’t see it coming.
"Too Sweet" had me in a chokehold and its sequel owns my heart. We had so many glimpses of Crispin and Maisie in book one but for them to get their own story and it be one that is : - marriage of convenience - vampire x vampire hunter - anxiety rep - when they go from being SO annoyed to one another to the annoyance melding into.... something absurd and delightful (see what I did there??) Monroe does SUCH an excellent job with her characters and worldbuilding that I mourn leaving them every time I finish a series by her. The Booker Brothers were no exception to this and I will miss them so much! The only thing that gets me through is knowing she has more books quickly around the corner.
I have been [im]patiently waiting for this book for 346 days. Basically since the moment I finished "Too Sweet", and "Absurd Delights" was absolutely worth waiting for! This companion novel was the perfect ending for the duology.
Maisie and Crispin were amazing, both as separate characters and also together. I really enjoyed learning more about them both and watching their story unfold, as well as getting little glimpses of Darcy and Briar along the way. As always, Monroe gave her characters some magical chemistry and the banter truly gave me life. The anxiety representation in this book was super well done and very relatable, and the gentle way Crispin loved her through it all was *chef's kiss*.
This book made me audibly gasp and laugh out loud multiple times. In public. Which smoothly balanced out the heavier topics.
This book is for you if you enjoy incredible banter, the fake marriage trope, and vampire x hunter romance.

Once again Monroe Wildrose has done it! A cozy book perfect to pull you out of a book slump and transfer you into the world of vampires and vampire hunters. I fell in love with the story along with the characters. Such a wonderfully done book that was well worth the wait!
