My body only reacts to her, and I'll make sure she knows that. The more she tries to escape, the tighter my grip becomes. A predator, I'll stalk her like prey, waiting for the right moment to strike. Every move she makes, every breath she takes, I'll be there, lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce and reclaim her.And let anyone try to hurt what's mine – they'll see just how far I'll go to protect what I claim. I won't rest until she's back where she belongs – with me, and only me.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Craving a down-and-dirty story? NO CHEATING! Hero did not cheat. He was drugged by evil sister and she made it look as if they had sex so that heroine could catch them in the act. Hero is a devoted & obsessed hubby who only has eyes for his wife (heroine).
-------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE. So this was a quick read with a lot of skimming. Initially it was a 3 star because there was no cheating, but the story & characters in-itself is not fleshed out enough to keep me entertained. It became a struggle really so I ended up skimming.

Plot: MCs are married and in love. While waiting for his wife to come home, heroine's sister comes over their home and drugs Hero. She then makes it seem that they had sex and wife walks in while he is sleeping and is devastated. Sister is a psycho.

Hero wakes up and realizes what the psycho did and promises sister retribution. He goes after his wife and tells her what happened, they have sex and make up - only for psycho again to interfere by telling her hubby is with the mafia which he neglected to tell his wife. They separate again, he finds her, they make up, sister is sent to a convent far, far away, he gives up the mafia and HEA. The End.

So while it isn't a novel prize type of read, it may work for some folks who are not looking for anything deep.

I lost interest.
Predictable and redundant.
The writing, meh.
Some editing issues but not why I’m DNFing.

Not my cuppa. Very amateurish.
Mafia boss and his wife.
A bit of a mess.
It was only interesting for the first pages when the heroine finds the hero , who’s her husband, in bed with her sister.
He was drugged and did not do anything. But sister keeps on telling lies, that she’s pregnant with his child, that she has an affair with him yada yada.
A lot of sex. Too much and not everything can be solved with sex.
The hero is a mob boss and the heroine doesn’t like that since her parents were killed by the mafia. But anyway, she take him back.
The hero should be the possessive jealous caveman but I didn’t really liked it, it was too stereotypical.
Sister is completely cray cray.
Meh, maybe someone will like this kind of story, I didn’t.

I enjoyed this one!The initial draw was the gut wrenching opening scene of CIA infidelity .But alas,we soon learn all is not as it seems.
This also checked off many other boxes in my dark romance- landia wish list, ott, obsessive JP alpha, elements of kidnap scenario ,steamy eroticism, primal play...

Much is made by some of word mishaps, grammar issues... I have to admit I didn't even notice as I simply enjoyed the plot .Although if I had to guess it is simply the pitfall of a debut by a non English speaking author. In any event,it was a quick and satisfying albeit somewhat predictable read but has an easy pleasure to it and I encourage the author to get busy penning us more!xx😘

I thought this would be dark… it isn’t. I thought it’d be exciting… it’s not.

The badass H and gullible h are being run over and out maneuvered by the insane sister. I’m bored and have no idea how he runs a criminal organization.

Luna comes home to find her husband and her sister Elena in her bed. Adrick (the husband) is sleeping but Elena smirks at Luna and says Adrick belongs to her now. Luna leaves.

Adrick wakes up to Elena, whom he never touched. She had drugged him to set this up. He bitches her out, tells her she's nuts and immediately goes looking for Luna. When he finds Luna he tells her what really happened but she's not sure whether to believe him or not.

Of course in the meantime, crazy cakes Elena is texting Luna, now sending sonogram pictures and saying they've been having an affair for six months and Luna should step aside. (I'm not sure how crazy cakes thinks her plan will work because Adrick is completely obsessed with Luna), but Elena feeds Luna a little truth about Adrick that he's been keeping from Luna for her own protection (he's bratva and she has no clue), which will be enough to make her truly doubt Adrick.

I've noped out at this point. I hate love triangles, and I wasn't aware the obsessed H was going to be the husband, and this was about marital problems.

Okay so it’s not terrible. It could be a lot better though. The plot is decent. However there’s a lot of confusion. There’s a guy named Samuel, and then all of a sudden a Simon pops up and it just seems like the author forgot about Samuel… and Christy called Luna by her real name but then turned around and called her by her fake name…. But Luna didn’t realize it so was it just an error?

Adrik and Luna

I’m surprised by this book, cause going by the book cover I actually judged it before reading it.
So needless to say I love it I love dual POV cause I love to know what each other thinks.

I couldn’t believe I devoured this one without stopping. The pace of the story doesn’t rest, it doesn’t lag, but the chemistry between Adrik and Luna are steamy and spicy 🤭 the crazy part for all this is Luna having a crazy obsessive sister who’s in love with her husband. I won’t delve but I do recommend giving this one a read.

I was having one of those days when all I did was scroll TikTok when I came across this book. Let me just say I'm glad I saw it and read it. Wow! For a first-time book by this author I was impressed. The obsession this man has over his wife melted my panties. Their connection was so intense that I read this book in no time. I promise you there is NO cheating. The book is less than 200 pages but so worth it. I hope the author comes out with another book like this. It checked all of my boxes that in needed for the day. Fyi this man is unhinged. Happy Reading!

3/5⭐️

The mmc is literally manipulator FINAL BOSS. Oh and don’t even get me started on the younger sister’s jealous, conniving, and entitled behaviour (are we really surprised though??).

Yeah no anyways… overall this book just pissed me off to no end and I’m angry at myself for not DNFing.

Cheating = staged by the OW/sister, did not actually happen

h sees H with OW = h walks in to find OW naked in bed with the H; OW had "stuff" dribbling down her leg to lend more credibility (insert vomit emoji)

OW drama = OW/sister was resentful of the h and did all she could to torment the h as evidenced by above; OW also tries to unalive the h; OW ends up shipped off to a strict convent in Russia to be contained and monitored as the H knew her death would hurt the h

Grovel = H did not need to grovel for cheating as he never did, but he did lie about being involved with a criminal enterprise. H removed himself from the crime world and dedicated himself only to the h, so by word and deed he groveled

Stalker = H is OTT possessive and jealous, so he would continuously follow and obsess over the h; maybe a few kidnappings involved but it was done with love, ha!

Short read but entertaining and satisfying.

This starts out promising. There's a good gut punch scene right away, but not all is as it seems. It kind of fizzles out after that. There are some good elements here, but it's just missing... something. More story. It's a bit confused what it wants to be - sweet romance or dark romance? I'm not sure how I felt about how the whole mafia/bratva thing played out. It was way too quick and easy how that was resolved, so it just didn't work for me.

This didn't have a major impact on my rating, but this could also use a good edit. There's some slight OM drama. It seems like the author forgot his name because it went from Samuel to Simon. Character dialogue also kept switching mid paragraph, which I hate. It's confusing when you think one person is speaking, but it's actually someone else. There are also some various spelling and punctuation mishaps throughout.

Darkness consumes…

This is the author’s first self-published book, and it’s not too bad for a first effort. The reason it doesn’t get more stars is because the author wrote the FMC as pretty dumb. She believes the absolute trash her sister tells her, without talking to her husband about any of it. So, pretty close to TSTL.

SPOILER

The sister is crazy. She thinks the husband should be hers and she’s concocted a plan that is supposed to convince the FMC that her husband is cheating. He’s not, of course. But the FMC runs off and does totally stupid stuff before the sister finally tracks her down and kidnaps her. Like I said, the sister is crazy.

KU read, quick read and not bad for her first…

I came across this recommendation through TikTok and gave it a go. In a short story you have obsession, possessiveness, primal, betrayal and a HEA.
Feeling like her world had been ripped from her Luna leaves what she believes to be her cheating husband and sister behind convinced that the image she walked into to be true she leaves vowing never to return. But her husband finds her and bring her home, still with doubts after her sisters messages of a long time affair she questions her husbands loyalty still and finds out he's been harbouring another secret that he's mafia. With her sisters help and poisonous lies she leaves again. Two months later and he's found her and determined to bring her home after revealing the truth. Finally believing her husband and what her sisters evil lies had caused they reunite only for her sister to return and kidnap her. Seeing her sisters mental state for what it is and still not wanting harm to come her way even after her almost destroying her marriage she has her sent away for help. Leaving her and her husband to continue their life together. Proving his love he shows her she is all he needs and gives up the mafia for her. Their HEA is final when she discovers she's pregnant.
Short and sweet read filled with obsession.

Some of my favorite quotes

"I always knew her mere presence could bring me to my knees, and now I realized her absence could obliterate my very soul."

“"Property? No, you're a fixation, an obsession. I don't want you – I need you. Don't mistake this for some sweet talk. It's raw, primal, and I won't let you go."

"You're not my protector, Luna. You are my obsession, my addiction, my reason for living," I declared.

"You're tethered to me for life, mine to claim and devour."

"I knew that our connection was more than just physical—it was unbreakable, and utterly intoxicating."

looks can be misleading, yall!

i was surprised by this book in the best way and devoured every chapter. everyone's opinions will differ, but honestly, i really enjoyed this book and it was the perfect palette cleanser.

this man reminded me of a hybrid of kirill and adrian (iykyk 🧎🏻‍♀️), and i was feral at the extent to which he was willing to go for his wife. i really loved the plot and mafia aspects. i can't wait to see more from this author, especially as her writing grows. i hope she writes more bratva men.

the cover is everything. it’s the first thing that drew my attention. it’s so aesthetically pretty and perfectly fits the story.

don't be an asshole. remember that this is her first published book. there were some grammar mistakes, but they didn't take away from the story.

you know how to write russian men, so don't stop writing, girl. 🤞🏼💖

I hate leaving reviews that are not positive, but the only one I can think of is the deep love Adrik has for Luna (even if it is kind of a bit much).

But this book was unfortunately all over the place. Somehow 'Samuels' name changed to 'Simon'. The snow that covered the town and area had miraculously and completely disappeared in the space of a couple hours.
The story jumped from one thing to the next so quick, you got whiplash.
I tried to push through, especially as it was a short read, but I just couldn't do it.
I'm sorry, this isn't great. And I usually would just put the rating and then say nothing, but in saying something I'm hoping the author can atleast get an understanding of why its low.

Best of luck for the next one

I’m about 40% through and I’ve noticed a few mistakes I think the author might want to review and rectify. For example:

- At the beginning when Elena talks about having to sleep with another man to make it look real, she says she slept with MMC and not another man but then a few lines later she says she had to sleep her accomplice to make it look real.
- a few chapters in, Luna is talking about her customer Samuel and how he has a thing for her so he flirts but then a chapter or two later she wishes she could just reciprocate the feelings with Simon. Samuel is never mentioned. Maybe the author changed this characters name? Not sure.

Please don’t think I’m trying to be negative, I think it’s a good book, I just think it has potentially to be a great book.

So so good

I absolutely loved it. This did great being it was her 1st published book. Only I wish we could of had an epilog with the kid/kids. And in my own secret mind wish he was still mafia just cause of personal preference I love mafia books with crazed possessive obsessive protective guys who make the woman the whole being of living. But I loved this story so much. You could feel their love their devotion but also the hurt and sadness the betrayal even when it wasn't on purpose or really happened its what she thought and you felt it. It's sad that it was suck a short book and over with so quickly that's how much I loved it.

This writer has potential. I hope her upcoming book is so much better.

Consumed by Darkness had some plotholes. The biggest one for me and my main question is, what was the sister’s big plan? She nowhere to be found when h ran away then when h was found, she’s mad h is ruining her plans to get with H. Like wuuuut?

This book might be the worst case of bad or zero proofreading and editing I have ever seen. Writing was also a bit childish, for a lack of a better term.

I read it for the vibes and enjoyed it despite its issues. Will still look forward to the author’s next book. Hoping for the best!

Much like the other reviewers, I came across this particular book on tiktok. However, I found myself to be disappointed. Listen it’s not bad but it isn’t particularly good either, the best way to describe this book is that it’s a book full of moments. Whilst these scenes in any other book would’ve produced a major cathartic release, it doesn’t pack a punch because there isn’t enough build up between them to make the moments worth it. As a young teen I would’ve ate this up, but in my mid 20s I found it sorely lacking.
