Fantasia juvenil (aunque de momento sin ningún amorío).
Hasta arriba de tópicos.
Clichés por todos los lados. Hasta el “camino del héroe” versión academia.
Buenos-buenos o malos-malos todos los personajes (que tiene la profundidad de una hoja de papel de fumar)
Auto editado y con algún error gramática al (no muchos, pero cuando veo escrito algún “de que” me duelen los ojos. Y he visto dos).
Historia simple, lineal, con un solo personaje de narrador y sin saltos temporales. Lenguaje simple.
Jóvenes de 14 años que van a una academia de magia (sin comentarios), dragones, distintas razas conviviendo.
¿Como para llorar? PUES NO, PARA NADA. A pesar de todo lo dicho anteriormente se lee de maravilla, engancha, pasas páginas sin sentirlo y te metes sus 600 págs en un plis-plas.
Muy recomendable para jóvenes lectores por su sencillez y para veteranos que quieran una lectura sin ninguna exigencia, playera.
Por cierto, me ha encantado la chica híper-presumida, muy divertida.

3.9/5 Esta saga es una fantasía épica muy ligera, perfecta para iniciarse en el subgénero.

Aquí una lectora nueva que nunca se leyó las otras sagas del autor que se conectan con esta nueva. Aunque en realidad no sentí que hubiera algo que no entendiera, creo que el libro se sostiene bien solo. Aunque por ahí hay algunos cameos de personajes de las otras sagas que puede que los lectores antuguos de este autor reconozcan mejor.
Dicho esto, les voy a dar una no tan breve sinopsis sin spoilers de este libro, porque la que está en Amazon es muy escueta:
La historia nos presenta a Nahia, una adolescente humana enfermiza que nació con un poder llamado "nacid@ de la llama", que muy pocos tienen. Este mundo, que tiene su nombre pero que ya olvidé (edit: creo que se llama Kraido), es gobernado por dragones, que más que reyes son dictadores, ya que tienen esclavizadas a las distintas razas de seres que habitan este mundo.
Estas razas son los humanos, como la protagonista; los fatum, que son tipo faes o hadas; los drakónidos, que son una mezcla entre dragón y humano; los escarlatum, que son parecidos a los fatum, pero con la piel roja; los felidae, que son felinos humanoides; los tauruk, que son como un tipo de minotauro. Y otras dos razas extra llamadas tergnomus y los últimos cuyos nombres olvidé.
Cada año, los jóvenes de las distintas razas que cumplen 15 son sometidos a una examinación para designarlos a un trabajo o un oficio (porque hasta eso controlan los dragones), y para buscar los que tienen el poder ya mencionado. Obvio la prota tiene dicho poder, y aunque trata de ocultarlo es descubierta y llevada a una academia marcial donde los que tienen el poder aprenden a utilizar su magia y a pelear para posteriormente ser enviados como soldados a las guerras de los dragones y pelear por ellos y para ellos. Y así comienza esta historia.
La historia de esta primera entrega va más de la protagonista intentando sobrevivir a su primer año en la academia, ya que cada desafío representa un riesgo y los dragones no son líderes muy amables ni compasivos.
En general el libro me gustó, y aunque no es muy corto que digamos, me pareció sumamente entretenido y lo disfruté bastante. Los personajes también me parecieron entrañables.
El mundo que plantea el autor, si bien no es muy complejo, me pareció que tiene un lore y una construcción bastante interesantes e incluso, me pareció de lo más original que he leído últimamente en lo que se refiere a una historia con dragones.
Pero desafortunadamente hubo algunas cosillas que a mi parecer no funcionaron:
1. Los personajes son entrañables, pero no son muy profundos y algunos están un tanto encasillados en sus personalidades y estereotipos. Los personajes secundarios humanos son un poco olvidables.
2. Hay capítulos enteros de Nahia hablando de cosas banales con sus compañeros de escuadrón y que se pudieron haber recortado. También, algunas conversaciones tienen unos info dumps que no se me hicieron muy naturales, al menos al comienzo del libro. Por lo tanto, puede ser muy lento al comienzo.
3. El final se me hizo un poco apresurado. No dio tiempo a que la protagonista, ni el lector, procesara algo que pasa con un personaje secundario, y de repente la protagonista ya tiene su objetivo en la vida bien claro. Lo que quiero decir es que el narrador no le da tiempo al personaje y al lector de profundizar en el dílema que ese acontecimiento trae para su vida porque todo pasa muy rápido.
En fin, me gustó y planeo continuar la saga. Este libro es autopublicado y me parece que tiene potencial, creo que un buen editor mejoraría bastante la calidad de la novela, ya que hay cosas que se pueden omitir y otras que se pueden agregar. Además de que tiene unos errores de dedo bastante notorios.

No sé por dónde empezar.
Me pareció muy extraño y a pesar que la historia es buena y te mantiene con intriga, me costó conectar pues estoy acostumbrada a Lasgol y las Panteras 🥺. Pero terminé agarrandole cariño a Nahia estoy esperando mucho de ella.
Cuándo apareció Egil lloré y en los últimos capítulos cuándo apareció Ona y Camu lloré peor, me dio un ataque, entre en desespero y emoción pero Dios que bien se sintió saber de ellos y que estaban bien, por otra parte no puedo dormir en paz sin tener explicaciones de Lasgol. ¿Cómo es posible que esté allí con ellos y sus recuerdos? Necesito respuestas.
Historia 10/10. Personajes 10/10. Emociones 50/10.

Dudaba entre 4 o 5⭐, pero, qué narices, le pongo 5 porque me lo he ventilado en 3 días sin darme ni cuenta. Y eso es lo que busco en una novela, que me atrape y no me de ni cuenta de las páginas que van pasando.
Fantasía épica YA, dragones malisimos esclavizando un mundo donde hay varias especies inteligentes a parte de los humanos, unas islas flotantes donde viven los dragones (El Límite del Cielo🤔), una academia de guerra donde envían a los miembros con potencial mágico de las especies esclavizadas para formarse como sus guerreros esclavos (Amanecer Rojo🤔), un grupo inter-especies con personalidades muy definidas, magia, guerra, etc...
Que sí, que quizá no es muy novedoso, hay muchos clichés, y bla, bla, bla, pero lo he disfrutado como ese tinto de verano en la playa, que no es un Chateau Latour, pero te lo bebes como si fuera ambrosía cuando estás acalorado 🤣

This first book in this new series by Mr. Urvi was long and will have to admit different. This is a land ruled by dragons and other races must do as they say. Even when some of their children are recruited at a young age to fight in the dragons wars to take over other lands. Some of these children like Nahia a young girl who is being trained to be a fighter and Wielder of elemental fire magic. She is sent to clean the prisons as punishment where she comes across a prisoner in a golden. Which is where this series and the "Path of the Ranger" series start to intersect. I strongly advise you to read it first. But it's getting interesting and I'm looking forward to how it all turns out.

Me ha gustado demasiado
Amé la trama y que se unieran los dos mundos, me da un gusto saber que Camu, Lasgol, Ona y el lobo están juntos otra vez. Mientras leía, intuía que el chico sería Egil. Mi duda es si sabremos pronto de Gerd.
Felicito al autor, por hacer libros tan entrenidos, llenos de magia y amistad.

This series takes place in a different continent-world from the ‘The Path of the Ranger’ series and starts after it ends. It is from the POV of the dragons who invaded Tremia at the end of P0tR.
For centuries, the eight races of the continent-world of Kraido have been divided into six realms of races each harshly ruled by great King Dragons. Nahia is from a small village of humans. At age 16, on the Day of Servitude it is discovered that she is Flameborn, chosen to be Ascended. She, and others, are to be trained in the Path of the Dragons to fight for them in their wars.
The group dynamic training in the Way of the Dragons is similar to the training of the Way of the Rangers only harsher and if you fail or are disrespectful or make a mistake, you’re killed.
Fave scenes: seeing & entering the pearl, Nahia awakening her pearl, Daphne’s wings and guarding the gathering.

bueno empezando son está nueva saga, razas muy variadas de humanoides y pues la raza dominante, me esperaba que si muriera uno de sus compañeros de la protagonista (no daré spoilers y no diré quien) y aunque creo que le ha ido muy bien a la protagonista pese a sus "enfermedades" que tiene ya veré que depara el próximo libro.

This book had everything. Spoilers warning. Spoilers Warning.
This was a great 1st book. Introduced us to a new lead in Nahia, who is Flameborn. we also get introduced to Logan, who later turns out to be a stormson. Nahia's team of Daphne, Lily, Aiden, Taika and Ivo were fantastic. Some of their characteristics reminded me of characters from other books that the author has introduced. Seeing them go through their training was nice. Seeing the competition was cool.
Now for the important stuff. Mid book we got a tease to something I hope had a payoff at the end and boy did it have a payoff. I basically highlighted all the teases in hope i was right. I was 50% right. Glad EGIL is back!!!! Egil went in front of dragons and explained everything. But that isn't all that happened. In the final mission Nahia and company went to TREMIA!!! which was awesome, prior to heading out Egil told Nahia to find LASGOL!!! Which if they encountered him was one in a million but come on the author wouldn't tease and not deliver. When the descriptions of Ona, Argy and CAMU and then a fourth LASGOL, I got really excited. This is important as last we saw CAMU he was in hibernation, Lasgol still had memory problems. We didn't get enough information on Lasgol, but Camu is back for sure. I'm not certain but there is a prophecy revealed and reveals something about Fire, Arrow and 5 crowns. is that a tease of the 5 medallion bearers from the Llenian enigma series? I could be reaching but it would be amazing to see all characters unite to defeat the dragons. Can't wait for book 2. which is about 2 months away.

The torment continues.
Sure,the last several ranger books were awful, still I liked the first few books, so I tried this new series. I will not continue to waste my time,this is horrible.

Okay. The book seemed to have it all; dragons, magic, wars...all the elements for me of a good fantasy. And it has high ratings. As a person who loves high fantasy I do stray into other areas where the writing is good. I love Jennifer Nielson, Susan Cooper, JK Rowling to name a few, so this is not my first foray into YA literature. There are lots of fine writings in this genre. So this review is for those adults who periodically, like myself read YA.
Stars for plot and that's it. (As an adult in a child's world I want to be fair.) The writing is juvenile. Simple sentence structure and constant repetition, for a child's mind, I assume; no world building; real character building. Or I should say, characters as seen through a child's mind.
The story is told through one character who tells the story primarily through her thoughts and emotions. If this seems harsh it is only to spare someone else who appreciates more complicated YA fantasy writing. A 4th grader might find it quite good!
But I cannot recommend this to serious fantasy fans.
Stars for plot and that's it. (As an adult in a child's world I want to be fair.) The writing is juvenile. Simple sentence structure and constant repetition, for a child's mind, I assume; no world building; real character building. Or I should say, characters as seen through a child's mind.

Nahia was born a Champion!
This book is fast paced and starts with you identifying yourself to be one of the characters❤ Bahia starts out as a physically delayed weakened girl with a physical disability. Never tell you what it is but just that something disables her daily activities. When she is selected to have dragon blood in her makeup she is chosen to be taken to the dragon home world and indentured to become a slave to a dragon world. She starts off being slower, weaker, not capable of training to fight for the dragon home world. She could be destined to death for her complete lack of fighting abilities. She is punished in the dungeons of the dragons where she befriends another human from another humanoid world. They are in danger of being wiped out by Nahia's dragon captors. When she is ordered to the world of this other human, she knows that she need to find a way to save his world. I look forward to starting on book 2 tonight so I can hurry up and find out the next chapter of this story! Good work Pedro Urvi. Thank you for the exceptional work❤🎈

Es una review con doble puntuacion para mi.
Como libro autopublicado es un 5 estrellas pero como como libro de fantasía lo considero de 3 respecto a mis demás lecturas
El libro en sí está bien escrito y se nota que es de alguien experimental, sin embargo no me gusta que quiera serving libro tan coral con una “party” de 6 personajes en este juego de rol en el que cada uno representa el auto de manera tan marcada, y después parezca que una academia tan llena de gente y con tangos cruces entre ellos solo conozcas a 3 mas que no son del group principal y ya muy al final.
La historia es interesante y el tema de las clases y alumnos me ha gustado.
Otra cosa muy buena que tiene es que Pedro, siendo el autor maa prolifico que concozco, enlaza bien este universo con el de otras sagas. No he sentido que me hiciera falta leer lo demás obligatoriamente.
Esto ultimo también es un arma de doble filo, ya que el personaje que enlaza con su otra saga viene de un recorrido de 20 novelas, nada menos. Una puerta de entrada poco amigable.

Continuing in the pattern of John Flannagan’s The Ranger Apprentice series, Pedro Urvi has created a new series, this time following the Path of the Dragon instead of the Path of the Ranger (another series by Mr. Urvi.) Once again, he has assembled rival teams being trained for expertise warfare. It is a three-year training under their gargantuan dragon lords who openly despise them.
Many of the same elements of his previous series are present: the likeable girl, the huge guy, the dangerous trainers. This time the protagonist is a girl who hates their dragon lords with a consuming passion.
The characters Pedro Urvi has designed are wonderfully engaging, and the dragon lords appropriately despicable. I find the worlds he dreams up fascinating, and the conflicts and subplots riveting. This series is another fun clean read!

Getting selected
First time reading this author. Interesting storyline a little complex at the beginning but you soon learn what they are and names and also the different dragons , our main lead buddy's up first with the selected, then logan, ana and maika when they climb but then the learning names and beings calms down when she is put in a team. (More names but it does calm down)
Truthful the storyline is about power hungry dragons, training the other folks to be killed in battle for more land and of course the do as I say or I will kill you. I am sure there will be a few twists and turns later but not yet. Plus you can just guess she is going to fight back.A slow burn possible romance with Logan (if he don't die) in the future?

After reading and enjoying The Traitor’s Son, I read Flameborn: The Path of Dragons, Book 1. Like Urvi’s Traitor’s Son book 1 which I read previous to this one, the characters are vivid. Even the annoying Drakonid. But the author’s practice of stating the obvious repeatedly intensified in this book. That habit reminds me of what authors do for books intended for elementary school students. I do hope the author breaks it. The book is intriguing otherwise, especially the different races he puts together. I was confused by the inclusion of Lasgol and Egil in this book since they are from The Traitor’s series. Perhaps I need to finish Path of the Ranger’s books before I read more of The Path of the Dragons.

last quarter let it down
This was an interesting story but it had quite a number of errors and things which should have been picked up in editing. At times the writing was a little poor and lazy which then took me out of the story more. The majority of the book was a decent read but I feel the last quarter really let it down as it felt really rushed.

“They don’t know that the true strength isn’t found in one’s muscles, it’s here and here,” he said, pointing first at his head and then his heart.
“Don’t torture yourself with the past. That can no longer be changed. Focus on the future, which is unwritten, and work to reach your goals there.”

Flameborn is similar to the Ranger series. I disliked the Ileanian Enigma, so that was very positive for me. The ranger series started strong, but the quality dropped towards the ending.
In my opinion this was a solid read. The story and characters were interesting. I also liked that this is a single POV book. The ending felt rushed.
Obviously, the quality of the book is limited if there is a release every couple of months. On the other hand, it also very annoying to wait many years for the next book, so this compromise is ok for me.
Overall, I bought this for 1 Euro on Amazon, so there isn't really anything to complain about.

Pretty good coming of age (15 year old) military academy / boarding school story.
This is about year 1 (of three) with the book ending with graduation to year 2 (expected in book 2).
Multiple races, all subservient to enormous ‘evil’ dragons. All other races (at least eight) serve the dragons.
Main character (female human) is put in a squad with members of five of the other races. She is weak but special (of course).
There is constant threat of death as each member of the squad develops strength and magic ready to fight for the dragons.
Expect that at end of year three graduates will go on to fight evil overload dragons….

Having no experience with any other books written by this author, I found this book to be poorly written. The plot was promising, but with poor quality, it made it hard to finish even the first half. Nahia is a pitiful character for a long time, and the descriptions of her feelings and thoughts leave much to be desired. In what seems an attempt to garner pity and sympathy, the author instead creates an annoying and slow main character for a slow plot with little description and background. What is given could have been written for a kindergarteners understanding. Overall had high hopes, but were dashed in the first 1/4 of the book and never recovered.

Fabulous read. Pedro Urvi triumphs with Flameborn!
A world where dragons rule absolutely. To disobey or embarrass a dragon means certain death. There are 6 different races living on this world and the dragons rule them all with verve. Dragons are ruthless and power hungry not to mention extremely proud. Flameborn is a great introduction to the world of dragon magic and the seeds of rebellion. The first book in the series covers the first year at Dragjn magic school where all slsves with dragon blood in their veins are trained and honed into Dragon Blood Witches and Warlocks. I can’t wait until the next book in the series. Excellent story.

This is a story of, magic, dragons, prophecy, and found. family. Just like all of pedro urvi's books it is an epic quest to survive, and find out who you really are. It matches the feeling of his other series The Path of the Ranger in which a group of unlikely people are thrust together and gradually become a team. His world building that continues through all of his series is incredibly detailed and fun to learn about. This is easily one of my favorite books i have read this year.
Pedro urvi continues to be one of my favorite authors and I have no fought he will remain so through the rest of this series.

No está mal. pero la veo muy "introductoria". Y realmente no pasa "nada" al menos para mí. Se me ha hecho algo larga porque todo es como la vida en la academia como es. Pasan un par de cosas y realmente hasta los últimos capítulos tampoco es que pase algo que digas: 'vale, ahora parece que arranca'.
Supongo que es una manera de hacerte seguir leyendo para ver si "mejora" la cosa, pero sinceramente no sé si seguiré la serie ... Parece interesante pero...es más como un prólogo toda la novela que se me ha hecho más larga de la cuenta. Le daré una oportunidad a la segunda novela a ver si mejora algo sino ... lo acabaré dejando ahí.

Four Enthusiastic Thumbs Up
My boys both loved the Path of the Ranger series. At ages 12 and 13, they devoured Flameborn, and came into the room giddily exclaiming when they finished it, “That was so good! I loved it so so much!”
They loved seeing favorite characters like Lasgol, Egil, and Camu from Path of the Ranger. They both agree that this could be read on its own, but they recommend reading the other books too. They’re obsessed.
Flameborn was a fast paced adventure. They describe it as Harry Potter meets Lord of the Rings.
