This was a fascinating, historical mystery that lays bare the raw emotions and harsh realities experienced during the antebellum period. I found the characters compelling, the mysteries intriguing, and their emotions and dreams tugged at the heart. A captivating read, highly recommended!

The story follows the lives of the Banks family who are keen to marry off their youngest child, Annabelle. A beautiful, determined young woman who is stubbornly refusing to bend to her mother’s will and marry her parents preferred choice of a prominent lawyer and promising politician. However, Annabelle’s heart lies with her childhood friend and sweetheart Adrian Reed who she is intent on marrying no matter what.
With a cast of complex and intriguing characters that weave a trail of murder, deceit, tragedy and hope, this story will pull at your heart strings and leave a lasting impression. Highly recommended.
This was an easy read and nice change from someone me of my other books. Some serious aspects but still lighter sides. I don’t want to give anything away, but this is a nice book,
