Tiny Bear Goes Missing

Rate this book
When a child loses their beloved stuffed bear, they have to find the courage to overcome their worry and set off on a rescue mission, in Tiny Bear Goes Missing, a beautiful and heartfelt picture book from Manka Kasha, author of Small Knight and the Anxiety Monster.

Losing something important is always scary, but what if that something is your best friend?

There once was a very small, very brave knight, who loved to go on adventures with their best friend Tiny Bear. They had even faced down the dreaded Anxiety Monster, and trapped it in a jar. But when they wake up one morning and Tiny Bear is nowhere to be found...

CRASH!

The jar breaks and the Anxiety Monster is loose again, swirling bigger and bigger and trying to get in their way. But Tiny Bear is lost and alone, and probably scared, and Small Knight WILL save him, even if they have to drag the monster along every step of the way.

Small Knight may have conquered many of their anxieties in the previous picture book, but that doesn't mean that they're gone for good. Many readers will recognize themselves and their emotions as Small Knight sets off on a journey to find Tiny Bear, their beloved stuffy. The journey is long and hard, and that pesky old Anxiety Monster is right by Small Knight's side every step of the way. But knowing that Tiny Bear is probably lonely, scared, and depending on its friend for rescue keeps Small Knight going. The artwork, created with watercolor and ink, complements the story perfectly as it shows just how large Anxiety is and how it can be tamed, decreasing in size over the course of the last pages, even if it never quite disappears. This picture book has promise for opening up channels of communication between youngsters and caregivers about fears and anxiety.

This is such wonderful artwork.

The author's note at the end is very relevant.

Small knight has lost their bear, and the anxiety monster gets out of the jar, but together, they go on an adventure and find a better end to the quest.
We shouldn't ignore our feelings.
