BOOK REVIEW: FROGILLY DIGILLY DO
Author and illustrator: H.s.i. Merilatt
Reviewer: Shain Stodt

H.s.i. Merillat has taken a frog story about counting to ten and made an absolutely delicious feast of it.

First of all, Frogilly Digilly Do takes you right into a world. The (very) beautiful illustrations give you a real feel for a verdant country pond. You can practically smell the water plants and mud, and feel the ripples as each frog inevitably counts off and takes its turn absconding into the cool water.

These froggy fellows have wonderful, colorful personalities, too, with great costumes emphasizing their individual styles: A pompadour, a boa and grass skirt, a tutu, a tux - it’s a whole Mardi Gras of flamboyant self-expression. Plus they love to dance and play instruments at the drop of a hat -what great fun to hang out with these guys

The cherry on the cake is the clever rhyming send-off each frog has. Merillat is a fine wordsmith, and she strings together marvelous twisty verses that the tongue wants to speak. They have an underlying musical rhythm that catches and carries you from page to page like a song.

This one has the simplicity of a classic. I see it in classrooms and on children’s shelves for generations to come.

Highly recommended. Frogilly Digilly Do is available on Amazon. After you’ve gotten your own cherished copy, don’t forget to leave a review.

A Counting book with cute illustrations

What an adorable book. I loved the frog illustrations were so cheerful and detailed too. What a great book for helping young children with numbers and counting too. Counting backwards is always tricky so this will be a great help too. Rhyme, counting, fun frogs illustrations- what more can you ask for!
