Mason Bridges has no need for romance. So why can't he stop thinking about the new tenant in his guest house? And when she fills in as a babysitter for his little girl, he can't help but see her as so much more . . .
Open Arms is a small town western romance featuring the single dad/babysitter trope, age gap, a seriously hot cowboy, a sweet young woman with a past, and all the emotions.
Kate McWilliams writes heart-melting, spicy small town romances mixed with mystery and suspense. An avid reader, she finds solace in romance books and lives for a good “happily ever after.”
When she’s not working or reading, she enjoys nature, naps, and watching cheesy action movies.
Kate lives in New Jersey with her tween and their crazy corgi.
Chloe was running from her past, keeping her walls up and people out. It's understandable why she was reluctant to open up to people given her past experiences. Trust was something that took a lot of time for her to build, but as time goes by, she falls into a new routine and forms bonds with the people in town who show up for her when she needs them. She slowly starts settling in and finally allows herself to hope that she can truly find her home in Whittier Falls.
Mason was a cinnamon roll hero who was always putting everyone's needs before him, especially his daughter, Abigail. He finds himself struggling to take care of the ranch while also managing Abby's schedule simultaneously. He feels like he isn't doing the best when it comes to his daughter, so when Chloe starts renting his cabin and helps him out of this situation, it leads to them spending more time in close proximity.
Mason is intrigued by Chloe and can sense that there is a lot that she isn't opening up about, but being with her and earning those small shy smiles from her becomes addictive, and he finds himself wanting to learn more about her and feeling a sense of protection towards her. I liked that he didn't push her for details but waited patiently for her to feel comfortable enough to open up and stayed by her side through it all.
I really liked Abigail. She was a precious kid, and I loved how she commanded the book whenever she was present. She was truly a ray of sunshine and made me smile a lot. I also loved the father-daughter bond between Mason and Abigail. There were a lot of moments showing their bond, so many cute moments between them, Mason's dedication towards his daughter, and his love for her that knew no bounds.
I liked how Abby wasn't shy and was the first person to put Chloe completely at ease. The two slowly started bonding, and their relationship felt like it progressed at a good pace. I also like how their presence started healing the other in a way.
The girl gang in this book was something I liked too, and that they welcomed Chloe into their fold, although I feel like they just had one conversation with her and included a total stranger into their group, acting like they were bff's already, so I kind of wish that situation was eased into slower. The side characters were fun and were good friends who helped and encouraged Mason and Chloe when it was needed.
I really wanted to like this book, but there were a couple of reasons why this didn't hit the mark and fell flat for me. The reasons are below and contain spoilers, so if you plan on reading the book, you can skip it. I've still hidden the major spoiler if you are okay with the minor ones.
On to the things I had an issue with in this book (CONTAINS SPOILERS):
* Firstly, I have no idea how old Mason and Chloe were. Mason mentions that there's an eight-year age gap, but their actual ages aren't mentioned.
* The "romance" between Mason and Chloe went from 0-10% at first, and then suddenly they threw caution to the wind, and it just went to 100%. It wasn't convincing, and I couldn't feel any buildup or chemistry growing between the two. They barely had any open, meaningful, or any actual conversation for them to know anything substantial about each other that would result in growing attraction.
* There was no proper timeline mentioned about how long it had been since Chloe moved to Whittier Falls and met Mason for us to get an understanding of how much time they might've spent together for said feelings to develop. It felt like they'd known each other for all of a week, and he had already fallen for her.
* Chloe's character felt a little all over the place. It's hinted from the start that she has a tragic past and has endured some form of abuse, and she was initially shy, closed off, on edge, and all that was totally understandable. But there'd be moments when she'd start opening up and be all witty and humorous, but I felt like that brand of humor didn't align with her personality the rest of the time. The same was applicable when it came to the smut scenes, where suddenly she was this sexy, confident vixen.
* Chloe was very particular about hiding her scars from everyone, and yet when she and Mason got intimate, she had no issues letting him see them without any reservations or even a little hesitance. And even when Mason saw her scars for the first time, he didn't even pause to consider what might have caused her such harm and just glazes over that fact like it was natural by saying, "The scars were proof of the battle she'd survived." I mean, what battle??? Wouldn't you be curious about the scars on the woman who you are supposedly falling for???? And there is no afterthought in Mason's POV even after sex about her scars either. Mason also mentioned her favouring one foot at the beginning but this was again never gotten into or even mentioned again by any other character including Chloe.
* The smut just made me cringe because I felt no connection between these two whatsoever, and the constant mention of "how they'd never experienced anything like this," "how right the sex felt," and "sex had never felt this way" made me roll my eyes so hard.
* We never even get into Mason's past and what happened with his ex. His ex-wife wasn't even mentioned by him. He mentions that he had a dark past, so he gets where Chloe is coming from, but this was never elaborated on or gotten into.
* It was a small town romance, but the town was barely even described, so I didn't know what to even picture. I just knew about the place where Chloe worked, the ranch where Mason worked, and Abby's school, which was mentioned twice.
* I would've liked it better if there'd been a clear understanding of what had exactly happened on the night Chloe's life changed forever. The way it was explained didn't make it too clear as to how the events played out. It could've even been some sort of flashback scene so we'd know exactly what went down.
*
Thank you to Kate McWilliams and Luna Literacy for providing me with the eARC in exchange for an honest review💗
This was a really sweet read, exactly what I expect from a small town romance. Chloe was the kind of character I wanted to hug, poor girl deserved the world and had been through hell and it was adorable seeing her find happiness with Mason and Abby. Theresa a dash of suspense that added some danger to an otherwise cute story and while it was my first book by the author it won’t be my last!
I loved this book! Super mad I haven’t read the first two yet (don’t worry I’ve already put them in my cart).
This book was so wholesome. The father/daughter relationship was so admirable and one of my favorite things about the book. Little Abby’s personality was just something else. Always making me smile. 😊 I also noticed this book had more spice than other books I’ve read by this author which was a plus in my books. I think the overall romance, trauma, spice, real life experiences is what made the book so enjoyable and relatable.
Where can I find me a Mason? Asking for a friend. Just point me to the nearest small town that will make my life this wonderful 🥰
Loved the book. Also. It is apart of a series. Notice I said I did not read the first two. These can definitely be read independently however in my experience it’s always best to read them all. They are all linked and the characters reappear in the books so it’s nice to know each sets story. ❤️
Very cute book. Chloe wanted to find a home somewhere and she finally found it. She had been hiding from her past and trying to survive each day. That poor woman, she deserved the family that Mason and Abby provived. Mason was all in from the moment he kissed her. He wanted her and he would do anything he could to keep her
This was my first read by Kate McWilliams and boy did I love it!
This book has everything:
Single dad that’s also a cowboy? Check. Cowboy & Nanny? Check. Small town romance? Check. Cinnamon roll MMC? Check. All the trauma healing. Check. Found family? Check. Yearning? Check. He says “F**k it” and kisses her? Check and CHECK!!
I haven’t read the first 2 books but this stands alone well. I absolutely loved Mason & his adorable daughter Abi. When Chloe arrives she slips beautifully into Mason’s life but is running from past trauma that have her heart guarded. Their relationship is special and it shows in the writing. There is no third act break up and there’s an amazing level of suspense weaved into the story as well.
Loved it! Go ahead and get yourself a cowboy! Available on KU now!
If you’re looking for a small town romance with a cowboy single dad and a shy nanny looking to find where she belongs then this is one to check out. You also have the sweetest little bean Abby to make you smile too💗
You’ve got so much romance, secrets and past trauma, the cutest bond between dad and daughter, and a bit of suspense that makes this a fun read.
I loved the found family in this. Seeing Chloe find her place in the world made me smile after all she’s been through. And Mason was so gentle and sweet with her it was too adorable.
A cute romance book! Loved that it didn’t feel insta-love at all and deals with finding your own family and your own way in a well written manner. Loved Mason. I love when the main couple in a book manages to create a family despite all.
There is an age gap, which of course I don’t mind! But we don’t know exactly the ages of the characters, so you don’t know how exactly to picture the dynamic or have a better picture of how the characters look. Just a tiny detail, nothing too major; I always cast characters in my head either way.
We also don’t really get to know what happened to Mason’s ex and how the situation of single parenthood became to be, so I did feel like we lacked a bit of context there.
Despite Open Arms being the third book in the Whittier Falls you can 100% read this book as a standalone. This book was such a nice, shorter read. Mason is super swoony and him and his daughter will steal the show for sure. Mason appears gruff on the outside but in reality he’s a big teddy bear when it comes to his daughter, and his new nanny, Chloe. Chloe has some past trauma she’s running from and it was so nice to watch her grow and learn to be around people she’s comfortable with, especially with how caring Mason is toward her. Overall I highly recommend this book! Thank you so much Kate and Luna Literary for the early copy!!
This single dad x nanny story was clouded in suspense and kept me on my toes until the end.
Mason was such a sweet dad to Abigail; it made my heart happy. It was all in the little details with him. He was thoughtful and strong for his daughter but also for Chloe, his new tenant and nanny. Chloe started out as the newcomer with a past that was haunting her. She showed strength and resilience throughout the story. I loved the bond she built with Abigail. They were the cutest together.
This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed the story!
I would like to thank Kate McWilliam and Luna Literary Management for the opportunity to read and review Open Arms.
this is the third book in the whittier falls series and the first book i have read in said series as well as the first book i have read by this author. i will most definitely be reading the first two books soon.
this book is such a quick and easy small town romance with a little suspense added in. i really liked the storyline and the characters in this book. my heart went out for chloe.
i really loved mason! i really love me a single dad cowboy😍. he is such a teddy bear especially when it comes to his daughter abby and his new nanny.
read if you enjoy: - single dad x nanny - age gap - small town - western romance - cowboy
I enjoyed Mason and Abby in the other Whittier Falls books and who doesn’t love a single dad romance. Throughout the book, I was interested to see what Chloe’s past was going to be and why she had the walls she did. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.
Tropes: 🤠woman on the run 🤠single dad x nanny 🤠romantic suspense 🤠age gap 🤠found family
I thought that this read was really cute! Y'all know that I always love a single dad x nanny read and I love the relationship that Chloe and Abigail built as the story went on. And especially the lil found family that the they have, with Mason. He gave Abigail the world and made sure that Chloe was comfortable in his space and made sure that she thrived. The suspense plot fell a bit flat for me, but overall, an enjoyable, quick read.
Thank you to Kate and Luna Literary Management for the eARC of Open Arms!
This is the first book I’ve read in the series and i for sure want to go read the first two now! I love the bit of suspense ! And the relationship between the charachters was good ! Loved the authors writing style and the flow of the book!
Had me totally hooked! This was such a sweet story and I love it when the couple heals together 🥹 Abby, Mason's daughter was so cute and she was really realistically written (something you don't see too often in single parent romances...). There was also a bit of suspense at the angst that I really enjoyed. I'm gonna go back and read the first book, the cast of characters seems fun :)
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed Balancing Act, and Open Arms is a great addition to the series.
Chloe is a complicated character, and her past guides her future. Her walls and lack of trust make it hard to open up to people. Running and starting over in Whittier Falls in time can be her new home. Renting the cabin from Mason, and his daughter Abigail gives her a place to call her own.
Chloe has gotten Mason’s attention, and he is patient with her. As they spend time together, things do change. There is a hint of suspense and, overall, a good storyline. I am looking forward to more from this author.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Just finished reading Open Arms by Kate McWilliams, the third book in her Whittier Falls series, and I can absolutely confirm that it works as a standalone (I haven’t read the first two... yet!).
The story follows Chloe, who’s left her troubled past behind in search of a fresh start in Whittier Falls. She ends up living in a charming little cottage behind Mason’s house, the ranch hand at her boss’s husband’s ranch. As they navigate their lives in this small cowboy town, they quickly realise they need each other for different reasons. Mason needs Chloe to babysit his daughter, Abby, and Chloe longs for a friend in this environment. Their friendship grows deeper, and when Mason has one of those classic “f@ck it” moments and kisses Chloe, it’s a scene that every romance reader cherishes!
But Open Arms isn’t just about the romance. Chloe’s backstory is quite intense, filled with challenges that have shaped who she is. The suspense surrounding her troubled past really drew me in, making me want to keep turning the pages to discover what happens next.
Mason’s daughter, Abigail—who goes by Abby—deserves a special mention. She instantly takes a liking to Chloe, which is so sweet, and she helps ease Mason’s nerves about introducing a new woman into their lives after her birth mother left. Abby’s honesty and lack of filter add so much charm to the story. I couldn’t help but smile when she asked Mason and Chloe if they were in love, forcing them to confront their feelings head-on.
If you’re searching for a delightful escape with a blend of heartwarming moments and a hint of suspense, Open Arms by Kate McWilliams is a must-read. This enchanting small-town romance has all the cozy elements you crave—think a devoted single dad, a nurturing nanny, and of course, a dashing cowboy! 🤠 It’s the kind of story that wraps around you like a warm hug, leaving you with that blissful feeling long after you’ve turned the last page. Happy reading!
Looking for a sweet, easy to read small town romance? Well then look no further. And not even just that, but we were also given found family, cowboy romance, single dad, cutest daughter, employer/nanny dynamic and a cinnamon roll MMC. I finished this one in a day as it was such a quick, easy read. A 4 ⭐️ read for me.
What started as a girl just trying to find some comfort in a new place and trying to start over, quickly grew into a warmth of new friendships and a sense of home. Chloe was trying to escape past traumas and ended up finding the perfect person to get her through it in Mason and his daughter, Abby. Without hesitation, they welcomed her in not only their home, but their life. As an extention of them she also found a new family in the friendships she was creating as well.
I loved that the romance between Chloe and Mason was slow building. They started off as friends and built that trust with each other before delving into something deeper. It was sweet and unhurried but also held so much comfort in it. Mason never put any pressure on her to be anything but herself and gave her that time to come to him when she was ready. He also never scared away from her past and viewed the scars left behind as something beautiful and that showed her strength. It was one of those relationships that just grew so effortlessly.
Aside from the romance element of this book, Chloe's own backstory definitely holds a lot of weight. She had the worst thing happen to her and the whole time reading this book you were just waiting to find out more details. She holds such strength and light for someone that would have every right to carry darkness. So it was really nice to see her get her happiness and sense of peace at the end.

I recently read Open Arms by Kate McWilliams as an ARC, and while there were aspects I enjoyed, it didn’t fully click with me. I found myself wanting more depth and connection in the story. 🤔
The story follows Chloe, who moves to Whittier Falls to escape her traumatic past and build a new life. Her cautious journey of trust and growth was heartfelt, and I appreciated how she slowly started to settle into her new community. The idea of someone finding their footing in a new place is always a great setup, and Chloe’s initial struggles were relatable and authentic.
Mason, the male lead, was a cinnamon roll hero through and through. He’s juggling ranch life and raising his daughter, Abigail, while trying to be there for everyone around him. Mason’s bond with Abigail was one of the highlights of the book for me. Their father-daughter relationship was adorable, filled with sweet, tender moments that truly warmed my heart. Abigail’s presence added a bright, uplifting layer to the story. 💖💖
However, the romance itself fell a little flat for me. I struggled to feel the chemistry between Chloe and Mason, and the progression of their relationship felt more like a series of events than a natural build. While Mason’s patience with Chloe’s guarded nature was endearing, I wanted more emotional depth and meaningful conversations between them to make their connection believable. 🙈
The small-town setting also didn’t feel as vivid as I hoped. While there were glimpses of camaraderie and friendships, I found myself wishing for more development in how Whittier Falls was portrayed and how Chloe truly fit into it. The potential for a rich, atmospheric backdrop was there, but it wasn’t fully explored.
Overall, it had its moments of charm, particularly with Abigail and Mason’s dynamic, but it lacked the depth and emotional pull I was hoping for. It’s a light, easy read that might appeal to fans of gentle, small-town romances, even if it didn’t fully land for me. ☺️
If you love a single dad, small town, cowboy/rancher with found family this is the book for you. I instantly fell in love with the small town of Whittier Falls. Everyone you met in this town was just so wholesome and welcoming and you couldn’t help but feel like you were constantly getting a warm hug.
Chloe is running from her past. She takes a job in this small town and when the owner finds out where she is staying she helps her rent the guest house on Mason’s ranch. Mason and his daughter Abby live on the ranch and welcome Chloe into their lives with open arms. Mason can tell that Chloe has walls built up around her but it is Abby who starts to take those walls down.
I adored the father/daughter relationship that Mason and Abby had. They were two peas in a pod and so fun to watch interact.
I also loved Chloe’s relationship with Abby. Abby helped heal/save Chloe in more ways than she can imagine. I loved how Chloe had Abby cook with her in the kitchen..those are the moments children remember and it was just so sweet seeing these two build their bond.
The relationship with Chloe and Mason I really enjoyed as well. Mason knew Chloe had walls and respected her boundaries and wishes and was there for her when she needed him. I loved him owning up to his mistakes with her and helping to make things right between them. The chemistry between these two was just bursting through the pages and when the spice hit it was just the perfect timing and right amount.
I need to go back and read the first two books but this could 100% be read as a standalone.
Thank you to Luna Literary for the arc of this book
This was a cute book. Mason and Chloe were a very sweet couple. Abigail was a precious kid and getting to see Mason being a dad was great. I love the single dad trope and this was done really well. I also thought Mason was a really good character. He was sweet and hot (super hot actually) and a good man. Chloe was nice and it was really refreshing to see anxiety and insecurities portrayed so really. The little insight we got into the other people in their lives was nice.
But as to why I rated it 3 stars... this was not it for me. It was cute, and I enjoyed parts of it. I could also see Kate McWilliams is a talented author BUT... this just didn't seem like a fully-fledged out story. I felt disconnected from the characters like I knew them superficially but not in a way that they were going to stick with me. The end of the story also started to read like a contemporary trying to be a dark romance. This did not read like the third book of a series. I know it's a standalone series but you can usually feel when you're reading one out of order cause there's a certain feel you get from the previous book's characters. I couldn't have pointed out previous characters for the life of me.
Overall, this was a cute book and I can see it 100% being someone's cup of tea. It was not mine but I did enjoy getting to experience Kate McWilliams. I will for sure be checking out more of her work, just probably none from this series.
I am super appreciative I got to get ahold of the ARC for this and while it wasn't a favorite of mine, it was still an enjoyable read.
4.5/5⭐️ 3/5🌶️ What an enjoyable day read! Although it is the third book in a series, I dove right into it without having read the previous books, and I must say, it stood on its own quite well. This was my first experience with this author's writing, and I can confidently say that I will be returning to explore the earlier books in the series.
The story revolves around Chloe, a newcomer to the town who finds herself in a bit of a predicament. Initially, she is staying at a motel, but her manager learns of her situation and suggests a more suitable place for her to live. Enter Mason, a single dad who is trying to rent out a cottage on his property. He decides to take a chance on Chloe and offers her a place to stay, which marks the beginning of an unexpected and heartwarming connection. Chloe quickly becomes a positive presence in Mason's life, especially for his daughter, who takes an instant liking to her. Their bond grows stronger, and when Mason's usual babysitter suffers an injury and can no longer care for his daughter, he turns to Chloe for help. What unfolds is a delightful exploration of their developing feelings for one another, which is portrayed with warmth and sincerity. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, a surprising twist towards the end caught me completely off guard. I was pleasantly surprised by the direction the story took, and I appreciated the way it concluded with a satisfying and happy ending. Overall, this book left me feeling eager to read more from this author!
ARC Review of Open Arms by Kate McWilliams🐴🍝🧘🏻♀️🚗🐰❄️🍪🏡📚
This was such a beautiful and powerful story. I loved getting to meet Chloe, seeing her go through her fears, learn to let people in, fall in love and have friends that made her feel safe and comfortable, after she went through such a traumatic experience. I also absolutely loved Mason, he is super swoony and him and his daughter definitely stole the show for sure, they had me laughing and swooning like a 15 year old.
I really thought I had the book figured out when Kate threw a curveball and left me at the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next, so I literally couldn’t stop reading until I finally finished it, and I have to tell you, it caught me completely off guard. Overall this book was great, it left me feeling very much eager to read more from this author!
PS. Despite Open Arms being the third book in the Whittier Falls series, you can definitely read this book as a standalone.

My favourite quotes🩵
"I tried... I just can't stay away from you anymore." “I don’t want you to.”
Our kiss was a seal on a new beginning—a promise made under the open sky, amidst the quiet strength of the land we both loved. It was sweet and as deep-rooted as the towering oaks around us.
‼️Book is out and available on Amazon, and I'm already so excited for everyone to read it and love it as much as I did‼️
Open Arms is the 3rd book in the Whittier Falls series and can be read as a standalone. It follows single father Mason and his daughter Abigail who are in desperate need of a nanny. Chloe is the new girl in this small town and needs a place to live but she has a lot of trauma that she is still healing from. Chloe moves into the cottage in Mason’s backyard and soon becomes his nanny as well but can Mason stay away or will he give in to the temptation and his feelings?
The relationship that grew between Chloe and Abigail was so sweet and I loved being able to watch their relationship grow into what it is. For the first time in years, Chloe has found a place that makes her feel safe and feels like home. Abigail had her fears of being left behind or forgotten and Chloe made sure Abby knew she would never do that and would always be there.
Mason was sweet, and caring, and knew how to read Chloe’s body language like it was second nature. He ensured that Chloe knew he would be her safe place and she could tell her anything. He would do just about anything for his daughter Abby and with just one look with puppy dog eyes he couldn’t say no. The suspense in this book and the full story of Chloe’s background was not what I expected it to be and I did not see it coming.
If you are looking for a small-town romance, single dad x nanny, trauma healing, found family, cinnamon roll hero, with suspense then this book is for you!
Please check TW before you read!
Thank you, Kate McWilliams and Luna Literary for the opportunity to read this ARC💗
Open Arms by Kate McWilliams ARC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Stars
Open Arms is a small-town western romance featuring the single dad/babysitter trope, age gap, a seriously hot cowboy, a sweet young woman with a past, and all the emotions. Chloe arrives in the small town trying to start over and build a future for herself. Mason is trying to do his best with his sweet daughter and managing a farm and when his parents announce they are going to travel and no longer will be able to help him out. Mason is looking for a Nanny and has a guest house up for rent. Chloe is new in town, needs a place to live and more money, so when she and Abby instantly hit it off and Chloe comes recommended from a friend she starts Nannying for Mason and moves into the guest house. However the more time Mason spends around her and his daughter, the more attached he becomes until he starts picking up on all the secrets Chloe is hiding. I seem to be on a bit of a cowboy romance and single dad streak. This book was perfect and exactly what I was looking for! Mason and Chloe were adorable together and I loved Abby's character! Also, the twists and turns from Chloe's past were not what I was expecting but added an interesting twist to the book! I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a western romance!

💭My Thoughts💭 I thought this was such a cute book. It was short and easy to read. Both main characters, Mason and Chloe were such sweethearts.
Right from the beginning, Mason was such a sweetheart. Knowing that Chloe is new to town and needing a place to live, he allows her to live in his rental. He also does things to make her feel comfortable and at home. He was also very understanding of Chloe's past. Mason was such a great dad and always put his daughter and job before anything else. His daughter Abby is so cute. She formed a bond with Chloe right away.
Chloe is new to Whittier Falls and is dealing with trauma from her past. She is looking for a new place to call home and she fits right in. My heart hurt after I read what had happened to her when she was younger. She was such a sweetheart to Abby. Her and Mason had an instant attraction and they were so great together.
I loved the friend group and how everyone welcomed Chloe. Their girl’s night was cute and it was great to see Chloe finally feel safe and at home.
The suspense at the end was short but it was still a nice addition. There were some parts I felt were a little vague. However, it wasn’t anything I felt like really affected the story. Overall, I would recommend.
Thank you Kate McWilliams and Luna Literary Management for the ARC.
“I don’t know what I did to deserve you, Chlo… but I hope you know, I’m gonna work like hell to earn it.”
4.25/5 ⭐️ This book snuck up on me and I couldn’t put it down. It’s a dual POV small-town romance with a tiny plot twist of thriller and suspense thrown in for some action. We follow Chloe who moves to Whittier Falls looking to escape her past. She meets Mason, hot ranch hand and complete cinnamon roll golden retriever man, and his daughter Abby. Chloe appears closed off at first, but between a 6 year old’s bright as sunshine world view and a loving man, her tough exterior is slowly chipped away at.
Chloe was a victim of a family tragedy, and Mason gives her the warmth and love to be able to trust again. This was such a feel good book, and while it does explore some heavy topics, it didn’t feel like it took a path where I had to stop reading. I loved the dynamic with Abby and Chloe, and as a mum I was smiling at all of the interactions because I too have a similar aged child who has such a positive view on the world that it’s contagious. The main characters were sweet, and there was only a hint of spice which I felt suited the storyline.
This book was a great read and I’d recommend this series in a heartbeat for anyone wanting a good romance read that ticks all the boxes.
I received an e-ARC of this book and this review has been left voluntarily ✨
FMC: Chloe MMC: Mason Tropes: small town, single dad, cowboy/ranch hand, forced proximity, tenant/landlord, babysitter/nanny, past trauma Spice Rating: 2 Series: Yes | Interconnected Standalone - Book Three of the Whittier Falls Series POV: Dual Cliffhanger: No
This was the first book I’ve read by this author. There was simply something about the cover and the tropes that called me to sign up for the arc. I’m so glad I did because it was super sweet and comforting.
This book has all the best tropes. Mason is a single dad with an adorable little girl named Abby. He works on his friend’s ranch and is juggling a lot as a single parent even with the support of others. He finds he needs some help and to learn to have more fun.
Chloe is new to the small town of Whittier Falls. She has a mysterious past filled with trauma and she’s looking for a fresh start in a safe place. Her past remains a mystery for most of the book but there are glimpses throughout that tease the reader.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was cute, romantic, and comforting. Kinda like the feelings one gets while watching a Hallmark movie. With a dash of mystery and suspense!
I look forward to finding out more about the mysterious Ford in the next book!
Sweet Small-Town Romance with Secrets and Second Chances
If you’re looking for a heartwarming, easy read with a touch of suspense, Open Arms by Kate McWilliams is the perfect choice. This small-town romance has all the cozy vibes, complete with a single dad, a sweet nanny, and of course, the single dad is a cowboy! 🤠
While most of the story revolves around love and romance, there’s also a layer of secrets and suspense, adding a bit of intrigue as Chloe works through her trauma.
The romance is adorable, and the characters—especially Mason and his daughter—are just the sweetest. Chloe’s journey of healing, paired with the love she finds along the way, really gives the story some depth. While I wasn’t too keen on how the timeline jumped around a bit, the overall story is cute and light, making it a great palette cleanser. Even though it’s the third book in the series, you can easily read it as a standalone.
Tropes:
• Small Town Romance • Found Family • Single Dad & Nanny • Cowboy • “F*ck it” Moments • Healing from Trauma • A Hint of Suspense
If you’re in the mood for something sweet with a little suspense and plenty of love, this book is perfect for a laid-back afternoon read!
