Well, my MC cherry is now POPPED!!! Yep, going into this book, I was a total MC virgin. I have about 3 or 4 other big MC series on my TBR but just haven't gotten to them yet. So I was a little worried that I wouldn't be the right audience for this book but SWEET BABY JESUS was I wrong!!
By 4% in, I was totally and completely hooked! The action starts right away and does not let up until the end. Eve is on her way to Australia to see her best friend get married. Just upon arriving, she has some very bad timing at a local convenience store and witnesses a gruesome murder at the hands of the Carnal MC group, the VP of which is (the very aptly named) Satan. But Eve luckily gets rescued by a group from the good MC group in town, Severed. And the VP of this group is none other than the very sexy, very alpha male, Angel...who is unfortunately Satan's twin brother. But there is no love loss between these two. Satan never leaves a witness so Eve immediately becomes his primary focus. She becomes the very same for Angel as well, but for very different reasons.
What follows is a story of good versus evil, with a touch of forbidden love, that had me biting my nails until the last word! Angel is a self-professed man whore who doesn't do relationships anymore, but can't keep his eyes off of Eve. The chemistry between them is there and the sex scenes are HOT!!!
"I step closer to stop her ranting. She glares up, her face softening when she sees my smile. "What's going on Angel?" I lean my forehead on hers, breathing her in. "I don't know."
I love going into a book with zero expectations or before-hand knowledge and being blown away!! And that is what happened here. I hadn't read any of the work of either K.T. Fisher or Ava Manello before, but I can tell you now, that these are two authors to watch. The writing flowed from one scene to the next seamlessly, keeping me engaged that whole time. Definitely a couple of authors to remember with big time potential!
There were a couple of things that kept this from being a 5 star book for me. First, there were a couple of times where scenes were flashed back to instead of the reader getting to experience them in detail. For example,
My second issue was a part of the ending. By now you may be aware that the ending is a cliffy one and I didn't even mind that part of it. It was suspenseful and exciting as hell! The part that I didn't like was that
Other than that, I really enjoyed this book. I loved the rough and raw parts that are to be expected in an MC romance, as well as the tender, romantic parts that were intertwined.
"I know that being with Angel will never be sweetness and roses. I'd almost convinced myself that I could settle for the hot and hard sex with him, but then I let my fucking emotions get in the way." ~ Eve
I will be over here breathing in a paper bag until book 2...like seriously! :)

Gabe a.k.a Angel He is the VP of Severed MC. They are the good side of biker in town. He rescued Eve from his twin brother, Satan, member of their rival MC. He don't do relationship, because of unfortunate things happened to him in the past. Eve Single mother, who went to Australia to reunited and to be a maid of honor of her long time best friend. She was supposed to have good time with Teresa but everything went wrong when she witnessed a murder that puts her life in danger. She only known biker life through her book, which i can relate to her. never she imagined that she will be part of it.
I love my MC read full of action, suspense, and hot sex, which the book has all of it. I like the story, the action starts right away and never stop. Though there are violence but not extreme. The story was about survival, friendship, loss, loyalty and family. The main characters are both likeable. There are supporting characters that contributed well in the story. I like the name of characters and the history on it. It amused me. Disney,Dragon,Ink,Cowboy,Elvis. Even Angel twin brother, Satan He was a psycho but I think there is something behind his anger.
Why not 5 stars? Well, i just read "wake up" for all the start of chapter. Though this is the usual biker story, i think there is something lacking.
I didn't expected the ending, CLIFFHANGER ALERT!!
Overall I enjoyed it, I will recommend this book to all biker lover.
MY RATING: ☆☆☆☆ "Severed Angel" By: K.T. Fisher & Ava Manello
4 Hot as Fuck Angel Stars
Complimentary copy provided by the authors "K.T.Fisher & Ava Manello" in exchange for an honest review.
I just about gave up on this book and am I so fucking glad those 5 star reviews for this kept on taunting me!!
This book kind of had it all for me, Murder, Suspense, Angel (wipes chin) Good versus Evil, Hot tattooed bikers, $250,000 bounty, A set up, off the scales hot alpha cave man scenes, god you name it what the fuck didn't this book have!!
So we first come across Eve who takes a wrong turn and witnesses a murder which in turn puts a $250,000 bounty on her head.
Shit just got real
Eve almost wants to laugh, "for most of my childhood I was told by my mother that I had no value. Well mum, look how wrong you were, I'm the equivalent to a fucking lottery ticket for some drugged out biker."
"If anyone is going to kill him, it will be me, but that piece of shit ain't worth rotting in a cell for, well set him up, a drugs raid on Carnal turf."
Just looking at him you know this man will fuck you senseless.
"I don't usually share my bed Princess." His voice is thick with sleepiness, it's so fucking hot. "Well you can leave." I offer, hoping like fuck he turns me down. He chuckles. "Nope, not going anywhere." He lays one of his strong legs over mine and an arm over my waist. "And neither are you."
But before I go into stalkers mode to hunt down these authors that ending OMFG!! I NEED/WANT book 2 NOW!!
Eve arrives in Australia ready to see her best friend and be part of her wedding. She is excited and even though her friend warned her to wait to be picked up, Eve decides to surprise her by renting a car. Never in her wildest dream did she expect to witness a murder and to have the VP of a corrupted MC determined to see her dead.
VP of Severed MC Gabe "Angel" finds himself protecting Eve, but as much as he would like to be with her he can't. His twin and enemy is the man after Eve and Gabe has met more betrayal at the hands of his brother than anyone should in a lifetime. However Eve is getting under Gabe's skin and only his own ghosts are keeping them apart, it is only a matter of time before Game makes his move and he is determined to make Eve his old lady.
This is a two part book. I thought this was fantastic, Eve has to endure quite a bit with being scared to death about being in danger, her attraction to Gabe, and some other surprising dynamics that unfold in the story. Read both books in one sitting, couldn't put it down.
Severed Angel is the story of Eve and the Severed MC.. We meet Eve as she arrives in Australia for her best friend Teresa's wedding to the President of Severed MC. Teresa moved back to Australia 6 years ago, leaving with her father Elvis following the death of her Mother. This is Eve's 1st visit and she is excited to reconnect with both Teresa and Elvis; whom she views as a father due to the lack of one growing up. Eve has been unable to bring along her daughter Elizabeth, who she has left with her mother (awful mother to Eve growing up, but has stepped up to be a good Grandma to Eve's daughter). Eve is so excited to catch up with her "family" that she doesn't follow Teresa's strict instruction to stay at B&B overnight before then coming to Severed. Off she goes without a care in the world, until she loses her map and finds herself well and truly lost. Having left a message her phone dies, so she stops at a convenience store hoping to get some directions.. What she witnesses, will change the course of both her holiday and her life... if she manages to stay alive that is!!
I liked this book. Eve was a pretty nice character that is obviously pretty damaged and naïve to the life of a MC. Angel/Gabe is the hero.. I have to say I loved his character.. he is the VP of the club and initially saves Eve from meeting a grizzly end at the hands of Satan (more on him in a minute)Eve hasn't had the best start in life and lacks in my opinion any love. Angel on the other hand, has known love but is unable to get over dreadful memories to give that love to any one anymore and hatred and the need for vengeance as taken control. They have a instant attraction to each other, but Angel defiantly fights the lust he has for Eve to protect her both from himself and his nemesis Satan. Ok, Satan.... what a character.. I loved him!! he really is the ultimate evil, crazy SOB that you want and need in this type of story, for me he is the star of the book.. you then have other characters like Elvis, Teresa, Prez, Dragon and Ink. They were great additions to the story, however some were underdeveloped and could have been used more to add more depth to the story in my opinion.
As I have already said, I did like this book... I just didn't love it!! For me there was something lacking!! I like more grit, angst and emotional/sexual intimacy between my H/h in a MC book and I just didn't get enough of it sadly. The storyline is great and it definatly draws you in but at about 40% it just lost my full attention.. The middle just didn't build for me and I can't put my finger on why. However, come 85% it sucked me back in again and wow what an ending!! Genius!! So having said that, you will guess that being a 2 book series we have a dreaded cliffhanger.. what a cliffy it was though, in all honesty it saved the book for me and now has me really eager to read book 2.
A good but not great MC book, saved by a brilliant ending and perfect baddie... I just hope K.T, makes it a little more gritty, increases the angst factor and creates a story where you are routing more for Angel and Eve.
as a lover of MC books I've read a lot of them and can say that Angel will be your next book bf. this book will have you on the edge of your seat, cheering for the good guys, panting through the sex scenes, crying your heart out and hanging for the next one. do yourself a favor and get this book... but be warned, once you start reading you won't want to put it down
In a daze of one clicking new MC romance releases I one clicked this book without realizing it was a cliff hanger. So I broke my cardinal rule of no cliff hangers for 2014 because it was too late to return the book. My initial thoughts were to skim the book to see if it was worth reading. To my surprise I really enjoyed the book. My only admonition is that I still feel disgruntled because $4.95 for 178 pages is an expensive short story and it is not a complete book. Now I guess there will be another book for the same price and length that will finish the story. I wish authors would understand that the vast majority of readers want a full book for that kind of price and have made it known they hate cliff hangers. All of these issue impact my overall opinion of the book and the author. If this book had been a complete story it is possible the rating would be at least 4.5, however the most I can give it is 3. The story is based in Australia and is centered around the Severed MC. The h in the story is visiting her childhood friend who is getting married to the MC president. The h witnesses a murder committed by a rival MC and is targeted for death. In steps, Gabe or Angel as he is called, the VP of the club to save the h. The author did succeed in presenting a host of characters that I liked and the story did not seem to be as trite as some of the other recently released MC romances. At this point I do not know if I will buy the second book because of not being sure it will lead to another cliff hanger and the fact that paying $4.95 twice for a book of approximately 400 pages is just to high. There are enough characters in the book for the author to write multiple books in this series.
Yes yes yes. I totally loved this story. Angel is my new book boyfriend. Oh yes. I'll be thinking of him for a while. Eve and Angel are the main characters. However I loved reading about the others in the book.
This book got under my skin. I inhaled it... Yes I basically sat and didn't move until I'd finished it. This is a edge of the seat read. Bloody brilliant:)
I need to know when book two is out as this ended in a whopper of a cliffhanger.
Received complimentary copy in return for an honest review.
I used to love MC books, read them for about 2-3 years. Then, I just got burnt out on them. This was probably my last biker read and to me, it wasn't a good one.
Oh well, maybe someday I'll give them a chance again, or maybe not. Life goes on!
Severed Angel (Severed MC, #1) by K.T. Fisher & Ava Manello
A gripping new MC series formulated with the perfect blend of angst, sass and swoon. This is one ride definitely worth taking. - Kelly, Perusing Princesses
This is unlike other Biker books I have read, simply because even though club life is notoriously similar to that of the standard MC uniform, it differs slightly because the Severed MC are not the drug-dealing, gun running, killing-spree kind, in-fact, they are far from it. These boys know how to party, but they are revered for keeping their business on the right side of the law.
Upon reading this in the early chapters, I was concerned it would make these boys seem lacking in some way, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. This MC put a high price on family values, on respect, and most importantly of all, they will fight to protect what is theirs.

This story follows Eve, a British woman who has recently come out of a failed relationship with ‘douche-bag,’ whom left her and their two year old Daughter, Elizabeth, high and dry.
Eve misses her best-friend Teresa and her Father Elvis since they emigrated back to Australia, to Elvis’ native home after losing his wife. Upon receiving an invitation to Teresa’s wedding to a man named Bill aka ‘Prez’, she is more than happy to leave Britain for a month and embark on the 20 hour flight to get reacquainted with Teresa after six years apart, while leaving her Mother to care for her two year old Daughter back home.
Getting lost in the middle of the night in a strange country wasn’t in the itinerary. Stumbling upon a murder scene in a late night store certainly wasn’t in the travel plans either, but unfortunately, it puts Eve in a precarious situation when ‘Satan,’ the VP of rival club The Carnal MC, fails to clean up the loose ties when Severed MC arrive just in time to save her from his deadly clutches.
To Teresa and her father, Eve is family, therefore Severed MC offer protection in the form of ‘lockdown’ when they hear of the $250,000 bounty on her head. It’s hard being around him though, because the one they call ‘Angel’ looks just like the man who put a gun to her head - being around the VP and identical twin brother is disconcerting, but even more so when she finds she can’t help but lust after the man who has sworn to protect her.
When a club whore becomes collateral damage in the ‘hunt for Eve,’ Gabe/Angel will not let her out of his site and subsequently, out of his bed...

Yes, this is a love story, well... maybe more a insta-lust story, but the workings are all there. This storyline is entertaining with a worthy angst factor, although I prefer a little more grit with my MC boys, I cannot deny that Gabe/Angel is one sexy SOAB!
I liked our two main protagonists, and I connected to a few of the secondary characters, although I would have liked more emphasis on character description for each of the members, I found myself having to make up my own.
Satan is a fabulous villain, he is the angst factor and a part of me loves him, not in the way I connected with Gabe, but in a ‘he scares the shit out of me, but I want more of him,’ kind of way. And I feel my wish may be granted in book two after that stunning cliffhanger ending!
I know many of you hate cliffy’s but it gave this book impact, and I can see why the author/s did it. I’m highly anticipating book two, because I know after that whopper I just have to continue with this series.
I’m an MC book junky. The biker world has its own set of norms and rules it lives by and immersing myself into that atmosphere is a great escape for me. What makes Severed Angel stand out amongst the rest is that the Severed MC actually runs legitimate businesses and stays on the right side of the law, which is an interesting and refreshing twist on most biker stories that I’ve read. It allows the idea of good versus evil to be depicted and explored throughout the text in a variety of ways.
Eve and Gabe (“Angel”) are the focus of Severed Angel. Eve is from England, but she flies into Australia to be in her best friend’s wedding. As soon as she arrives Down Under, all hell breaks loose, and her life is on the line from the very first pages of the text. Eve is at the wrong place at the wrong time and what she witnesses puts her in direct contact with the Devil himself, and even though he’s merely a man, he has the power and the will to bring the Grim Ripper down on Eve. The Severed MC comes to Eve’s aid in the nick of time, but now Eve has put them as well as their old ladies and club whores in a world of trouble. The only way out of it is to hand Eve over to the Devil, but that’s not even an option after Angel, Severed’s VP, willingly protects her against his brother. What follows is a story of passion, danger, and death, and due to the ending’s cliffhanger, readers will have to wait patiently to find out how it all plays out.
Eve is quite the dynamic heroine; she’s been through hell with her ex, which has definitely weighed her down, but it hasn’t made her frail…just cautious. She knows how to hold her own and has a feisty attitude, but she also feels deeply, and it is shown many times by how she reacts to the events that occur in the story.
Gabe is a tormented man; he has suffered severely at the hands of his brother. In all of the MC stories that I’ve read, he’s probably one of the most honorable bikers there is. He’s attracted to Eve, but he knows he’s no good for her. He’s a protector, but not everything is in his control, which makes him feel powerless at times. Without control, Angel feels unstable, and in a matter of life and death, he needs to be on his game before he loses something else that matters to him.
I loved this book. It’s a fast paced text filled with action, angst, and hot sex. The twists and turns the plot takes set readers on edge, wondering what is going to happen next. Eve and Gabe are strong and dynamic characters who are surrounded by a cast of interesting supporting characters who add much to the plot. The antagonist is evil to the core, and the authors do a great job of illustrating just how opposite the devil is to the angel. With the cliffhanger ending, it’s anyone’s guess how good is going to prevail over evil, but no matter how it happens, it’s going to be one hell of a ride.
A complimentary copy of the text was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 poison apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)
I love MC books and this one had some really great reviews but I struggled with it, I'm too picky, I know I am but once I notice something or something annoys me I just can't let it go, I wish I could it would make it so much easier. Anyone familiar with my reviews knows I don't put spoilers in very often but I can't review this book without them.
#### SPOILERS ####
- I did pause very early on when the map blows away and Eve then has no charge on her phone, I just think first time in a strange country by yourself when it's getting dark you'd be a bit more careful. Maybe that's just me. - It made no sense that Satan didn't just pull the trigger, it would have only taken seconds and not held him up. - And seriously why wouldn't Eve lock her door if she going to get naked on her bed in a clubhouse full of bikers - Satan provides them with footage of him and his boys torturing and then killing Lola they then dump her dead body outside the clubhouse....isn't that enough to have him put away? I can't understand why they would go to all the time and trouble of setting him up on drugs charges when they've got proof he committed murder. Is it just me because it doesn't make any sense at all. - 'I feel bad about giving Angel that sedative now. I hoped tonight he'd have told me how he felt about me' again is it me....seriously Eve wants Angel to tell her he cares Angel is desperate to tell her he cares so she sedates him. Then next morning she's unhappy because 'He didn't say anything last night' that's cos you sedated him before he had a chance. - This is just the main points the list is actually quite long. I knew before starting that this was part 1 of 2 and as it reached the end it was obvious how it would finish and again
##### BIG SPOILER #####
When Angel wakes from his sedation and gets to the airport - "I'm sorry sir, that flight has just departed" She gives me an odd look. "Funny that, I could have sworn I'd already checked you in" Now I know Angel has had a rough time lately and he's still recovering but doesn't it ring any warning bells at all.
I wont be continuing on to the next book because while I liked Angel and the rest of the MC there were just too many inconsistencies for me.
"Severed Angel" By: K.T. Fisher & Ava Manello Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
When single mum Eve sets foot in Australia for her best friend Teresa's, she could not have imagined what would happen next. Eve stumbles into a scene of horror as she witnesses a murder by an MC group and nearly ends up a victim herself. She is saved, just in the nick of time, by Teresa's fiancée's MC group and more specifically by Gabe, 'Angel'. Carnal MC is about as evil and cruel as they come and fund themselves through illegal means. Severed MC, on the other hand, is about as far down the other end of the spectrum as possible. For Severed MC their ladies and members are their families and they will look after each other and do anything for each other. Eve is classed as family and the members vow to protect her. This becomes increasingly difficult as events unfold and tragedy strikes very close to home. Angel is drawn to Eve: the girl who comes across as innocent, shy and gentle but has a wild side that needs to be teased out. Eve is drawn to Angel too but fights the attraction as she is only in Australia for a short time. With other members of the Severed MC showing an interest in Eve, will Angel act before its too late? Will Eve give into her desires? With danger never far away, will they even survive to give into their attraction for each other? I went on a huge joy ride with this book, riding a range of emotions from fear, to lust, to sadness and tears, to lust, to heartbreak and everything in between. The story moves quickly as events unfold but gives you the chance to reflect and take account of what everyone is feeling. The cast of supporting characters makes this a must read. The guys and gals of Severed MC are pure entertainment and I am definitely looking forward to the next installment!
This is MY OPINION of the book. Please read the synopsis and any warnings the author has offered. If you read reviews then read all reviews before making a decision. Also, some services offer the first chapter for free. Please read that.
What happens when a girl who wants excitement in her life meets a biker who doesn't want love in his?
TROUBLE. Eve thought she was going to spend some time with her childhood best friend and be the maid of honor in the wedding. What she didn't expect was to turn the wrong way and end up in the middle of mayhem.
Angel had no intention of getting involved with his President's soon to be wife's best friend. He was content getting his satisfaction with the clubhouse girls. However, when he is sent to pick up Eve at a convenient store in the wrong town he cannot help being attracted to her.
Eve has brought tension to the Severed MC. She didn't mean to do it but she did. She is now locked down in a clubhouse in an environment she has only read about in books. She is also trying to fight a growing attraction to the club's VP, Angel.
Tension is high as the Severed MC tries to keep everyone safe from the cross town rivals, Carnal MC. This is weighing on Angel because his brother is the VP over there....and Satan is one mean biker.....
Follow Eve as she learns about life in the MC. Watch as Angel deals with demons from the past to come to terms with his feelings in the present.
This book has love, lust, detailed sex scenes, murder, loss, anger, and hate...
Side note---I enjoyed Chapter 15 the most.....
One click this book today. It is a great MC book....
OMG! that Motherfucker! is on her Fucking! plane!!!SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!
4 ★★★★ When The Hell Is The Next Book Out Stars!
My friend Diane <--- and her hubby Dragon are characters in here!!! Aaaand they have a really, really, reeeeally HOT scene ; ) #FunTimes
Angel is Dreeeeamy! He and Eve make a cute couple. Cute N' Dreamy **laughs ass off.... can the words Cute & Dreeeeamy be used to describe Angel OR any MC member for that matter, Hahaha. **I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a threesome scene btween Angel, Eve and Ink. #MoreFunTimes Lmfao!
I kinda HAVE to add, Teresa fuked me waaaay the hell off!!! her getting pissed at Eve! *coughs* who dragged who's ass out of the compound bcause' they were having a #BitchFitabout being on lockdown!!?? I mean HEEEELOOOO!!!! there's a #CrazyAssPshykoWhoWantsToKillYouAll!
**Nice touch with the song btw.... now my T Shirt is all snotty & tear stained
I have mixed thoughts on this. The heroine wasn't the smartest.
There were things that just made me go...hmmmm.....
I definitely want to read the next book because of the cliffhanger, but I'm hoping there is more substance between the main characters. In this book, the attraction seemed so physical, and we didn't get time to see what was really behind it.
There was a decent amount of drama that you would come to expect in an MC book, but this isn't one where the characters were fully developed or where you really felt immersed in that life.
There were gritty and dark undertones to the book, but some of the really gritty triggers were announced so casually that you didn't really feel them. They seemed to be glossed over, and I felt desensitized to a lot of them. It took away from the grit factor, and those that read my reviews know that I like biker books as long as they are authentic, gritty, and hopefully dark. That's just what I prefer. Darkness has to be explored, not explained, and if I don't believe it, it obviously loses it's appeal.
I did like that there was drama throughout and the drama wasn't a long time coming. At least I got that.
There were some editing issues that somewhat distracted me, but not enough that I couldn't enjoy the story.
Overall, it was a decent MC drama, and I will continue on with the next book in the series. The cliffhanger pretty much ensures that. Luckily, the next book is available.
The book starts with British girl Eve going to Australia for her best friends wedding. Not long after getting there, Eve finds herself lost, and witnessing a murder by the Carnal MC club. Now with her life under threat, her best friend and her biker fiance take Eve back to their biker compound, where Eve meets Angel/Gabe. I actually really enjoyed this story, i thought the characters were likable, the story consistant and the editing is fantastic. I did think the flow of the story was a bit off for the first 2/3 chapters but then it flows really well, and before you know it, you've finished the book. I found this book quite sweet at times, it's got a bit of everything, it made me laugh, well up with tears, and the sex!! Whew!! Not to mention the ending!! Totally threw me and now i NEED the next book to see what happens. Loved Eve and Gabe, and i'm looking forward to getting to know the other Severed Angels a bit more, especially Ink. If you like biker books then i'd recommend you give this a try. I know i for one will be reading the rest of this series.
Ever since the hit television show Sons of Anarchy came roaring into my life, I have been fascinated with MC culture. Obviously, I'm not the only one. Suddenly, the image of what a biker used to look like has a new face. Not all bikers must have long grizzly beards, fat beer bellies, and smell as if they haven't bathed in days. SOA helped reinvent the biker image and has given many authors inspiration to write about motorcycle clubs. While these hardened men may have the tats and sport a beard, underneath the leather cut is hot, sculpted muscle. I recently took a break from reading MC romance, mainly because the genre had become oversaturated with the same old story lines. It almost seemed like authors were trying to purposely make their novels more edgy, more twisted as if that is the key to writing a successful romance now. Anyway, I found myself getting irritated, so I decided to turn my attentions to something else for a bit. Then I came across the yummy cover for Severed Angel by K.T. Fisher and Ava Manello. Was it a book about angels? Demons? Imagine my surprise when I read the blurb and realized it was going to be a book about an Australian MC. That caught my interest and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to give this one a shot.
So here are some of the things I enjoyed about Severed Angel. As much as I wanted to give one whole star just for the drool worthy eye candy on the front cover, I was obviously looking for something different in the overall story and plot and thankfully the authors delivered the goods. First, you have Eve, a British girl who is traveling to Australia to visit her best friend, Teresa, who she hasn't seen in years and to participate in her wedding. Teresa's father is a member of the Severed MC, an Australian motorcycle club, and the man she is betrothed to, known as Prez, is the President. Angel (aka Gabe), our hero, is the VP of the club. But we will get to him later >=) Also, our heroine Eve has a 2 year old daughter. Since she will be visiting her best friend and helping her prepare for the wedding for a whole month, she decides it's best to let her mother watch little Elizabeth, as the travel alone may prove too much for a 2 year old. I like this unique twist. It's very rare to see a heroine with a child in novels like these, so I giveFisher and Manellocredit for trying to portray a realistic female character. My curiosity was piqued just by the set up of the story alone.
At a glance, the Severed MC is not that impressive, nor are the members terribly scary guys like in some of the other MC novels I've read. While this may sound like a negative thing, I kind of found it refreshing. Like I said before, it seems like authors are trying to purposely make their novels more violent, more over-the-top on purpose to get a reaction, create a buzz whether positive or negative. While the men in the Severed MC may look the part, with their tattoos and everything, they are relatively decent guys. This particular MC is pretty clean cut; they don't sell drugs and try to run a legal operation. This may sound boring, but what they lack in illegal activity they make up for in their sexual appetites. WHOA. These guys are HOT. Eve gets quite an eye full during her stay, such as when she walks in on a foursome (3 guys on one girl). Then she sees Dragon and his old lady Diane partaking in some light BDSM...and they don't mind being watched. So yeah, while the men of the Severed MC may like to live on the right side of the law, they sure do know how to have a good time between the sheets. Or on the pool table. Or against the wall. You get the point!
Then you have the complete opposite with the Carnal MC, whose Vice President is Angel's twin brother, Satan (gotta love these names!). The Severed MC and the Carnal MC also serve as a sort of metaphor for good vs. evil because as laid back as the Severed MC is, the Carnal MC couldn't be more corrupt. Not only do they rape women and kill people (which is what got Eve in trouble in the first place), they consort in all kinds of illegal activities. And Satan, Angel's brother, is the head of all the trouble. It's almost like a classic Cain and Abel tale. I'm not trying to get all biblical here or even suggest that authors Fisher and Manello were trying to go there, but it's an interesting connection. There is one little instant where I kinda felt bad for Satan, when his and Angel's childhood was discussed. But my flicker of compassion was snuffed out quickly. The man is just evil, or has let anger and jealousy eat away at any kind of humanity he may have had, especially when you learn some of the horrible things he has done.
Back to the Severed MC guys, I thought K.T. Fisher and Ava Manello did a great job with Angel's MC "brothers". Ink, Dragon, Disney, Cowboy, Prez-- I absolutely loved their names and enjoyed learning how they got them through Eve's perspective. Like most MC's, they were a true brotherhood and had each other's backs. I especially appreciated the way they treated Eve.
I am assuming everyone wants to know about our hero and heroine, so I will get right to it. The chemistry and sexy time between Eve and Angel was SMOKIN' hot. There were quite a few hot scenes, like when Angel walks in on Eve pleasuring herself. WOW. And you gotta love his reaction:
He takes the vibrator from me, tossing it aside. "You won't be needing this anymore," he smirks.
Sweet Mary mother of God, Angel is one sexy alpha male! I loved the flirting between Ink and Eve and how it made Angel jealous. Sometimes adding in the third wheel or the "competition" can be annoying, but there is something really sensuous and sweet about Ink that sets him apart from the other guys. I definitely would like to see him get his own novel later down the road, but considering this is a 2 book series, I'm not sure if that is going to happen. We will just have to wait and see.
Last, but not least, the cliffhanger ending. I promise to keep this spoiler free, but I do have to make a quick comment on it. First, I understand readers' frustrations at cliffhanger endings, especially authors that get in the habit of writing books that are under 200 pages. Sometimes readers feel strung along and it can get annoying. But I think the ending of this book is a perfect example of when a cliffhanger ending works. To be quite honest, I was at a solid 3 stars before I reached the last stretch of the story. But once I got there...the twist at the end was what made me give Severed Angel that extra half a star in my rating. I won't say any more then that, but if I could give Fisher and Manello a fist bump, I so would right now!
So here is what I struggled with. While there is definite chemistry between Eve and Angel and I do find them to be an interesting pairing, the story suffers from lack of character development as a couple. I originally thought this could be because of the length of the novel, that perhaps if they had made it longer, they could have added more. But then I remembered Eve was supposed to stay for a month in Australia and to be quite honest, the way her time there was described, it felt more like days, maybe a week or two at the most had passed. So the timing definitely felt off. Anyway, what bothered me the most was that not once, other than Eve telling Angel she misses her daughter, do you get a conversation where they talk about their pasts, to really get to know each other. All the hang-ups Eve has about her ex? I was waiting for her to open up and tell Angel about what an asshole her ex was, how she never had an orgasm with him. How he walked out on her and their daughter. She tells more to Ink then she does to Angel. Actually, it's sad that I can remember the scene where Eve talks to Ink about her horrible ex, yet I can't think of one conversation between her and Angel in those regards. Maybe there was an unspoken conversation that the authors decided not to add, but it was sorely needed. For example, Eve got mad on several occasions because Angel would leave in the middle of the night while she was asleep, leaving her to wake up alone in bed the next morning. Maybe if she explained to him about her hang-ups in regards to her ex, Angel would understand and not make those mistakes. Also, when things start to get serious, I was waiting for "the speech". You know, how her and her baby girl are a package deal. Does Angel even like kids? Yeah, he thinks to himself at one point that Eve should get her daughter and move permanently to Australia, but it's never a spoken conversation. They never had the kid talk. It felt like it was a lot of hot sex, but not enough was spent on building their emotional relationship to make it feel more believable.
I also was not thoroughly convinced or thrilled with the plan the Severed MC comes up with to take down the Carnal MC. I really can't say any more for fear of spoilers, but it was a weak part in the plot. Enough said about that.
I know this is kind of a trivial thing to complain about but there was one paragraph that irritated the hell out of me because of the repetitive use of the phrase "I don't think":
"I don't think she's really given Sue a chance. Whenever we've talked on the phone, she's always dropped in a complaint or a moan. I don't think she's fully gotten over her mother's death, and until she does, I don't think she'll be able to accept Sue in her life or her dad's."
Lastly, Eve's best friend Teresa really pissed me off. Again, I am refraining from spoilers, but something happens and she blames Eve for their misfortunate circumstances. I get what the authors were trying to do and the reason behind Teresa's behavior, but it was just wrong. First of all, Teresa is the one who has lived in the MC world and decided to marry the Prez of Severed. Yes, they are a relatively laid back MC compared to others, but still. You will always have a rival. What ticked me off more is the fact that SHE was the one who just HAD to throw a fit and whine to get her way to go out shopping when the whole compound was on lockdown. If anyone should be blamed, it should be her, not Eve. And I don't care if she was my best friend or not, it would take a lot more than an apology to get me to forgive her for the accusations and cold shoulder.
Severed Angel by K.T. Fisher and Ava Manello was a pleasant surprise. It has some refreshing qualities that will help make it stand out from other MC romances. This is a perfect example of a story that didn't need all the extra bells and whistles in order to achieve what it was set out to do. Although, I'm not gonna lie. The cover did serve its purpose. It definitely caught my attention and gave me something to drool over for awhile. This book could have been the full package if the authors would have found an equal balance between the physical side of Eve and Angel's relationship and the emotional one. But they still have time to redeem themselves as they are busy writing book 2 in the series, titled Carnal Desire. And thankfully it doesn't look like we have a long wait as the tentative release date is May 31st.
This book was frustrating. The ending was the only thing good but I'm not sure I'll finish the series. I want to because I hate cliffhangers, but than not really because it took so long just to finish this short book since the heroine drove me up the wall.
My dislikes:
Eve. She sucked. I don't care for heroines that are annoying, selfish and have zero common sense. From the beginning until she flies away I kept thinking "Seriously!"
She has never been to Australia, she's there for her best friend's wedding. Her mistakes the first 5 min of the book. Her friend tells her to go to a bed and breakfast once she lands and she'll grab her the next morning to show her around. She decides to scratch that idea and go find her friend. The car rental place suggest a navigation system, you know, to help her find her way in this foreign land. She declines. Why, because she has a print out of a map and she wants to take her chances. While driving a convertible with the top down she looses her paper map, (shocking, didn't know paper flew away) this means she should continue driving instead of pulling over because that would make to much sense. Pulls into a liquor store, hears ugly shouting and she goes to investigate. (But of course) Sees a man on his knees begging for his families life, as well as his and she sticks around to see it all play out. We all do this, because running back to our car and getting the fuck out of dodge is unrealistic. She travels with a cell phone that isn't charged. Safety first, in a foreign place was obviously not part of this single woman's plan.
Her best friend. Theresa was the worse. She was a bitch and a horrible person. She was the Presidents Old Lady, but really was Queen B and wanted everyone to bow to her. She yells at her man in front of his whole club when things don't go her way. Her best friend has a psycho after her, a huge bounty on Eve's head, making it known he will do anything to capture and kill her. However, Theresa is pouting and having a shit fit because she does not do lock down. Yes, because it's been 6 years since you have seen your best friend, you're getting married, your best friend got dumped by a douche, and sitting around, staying safe and catching up on life is not better than heading to the mall with a killer on your ass. OF COURSE SOMETHING GOES WRONG!
The MC. Weak. This guy Satan, who wants Eve raped and dead, who belongs to their evil rival club, who is their VP's twisted twin brother, who has killed his brothers old lady brutally, killed their club whore brutally, and killed one of their brothers, who happens to be Theresa's father. How do they want revenge. They want him to go to jail. Yes, set him up so he can go to prison. while doing this he shoots Angel(his brother) and almost kills him, yet, they still want him to pay by going to jail. WTH.
How, does it end? Satan gets off on a technicality and is on his way to kill Eve
Eve lived a very boring, very vanilla life with her boyfriend and two year old daughter. After the douchebag left her, leaving her a penniless single mum, her best friends wedding in Australia came at just the right time. She's missed her childhood friend, Teresa moved to the Aussie sun with her widowed father when the girls were 18, meeting her biker lover out there and now Eve is set to be her Maid of Honor.
Instead of having the much needed break she's looking for, she witnesses a crime that puts her life in danger. Her dream vacation just turned into a nightmare, something she has only read about in the books she loves to escape in.
Being rescued by Severed MC turns out to be an experience. The clubs VP Gabe aka Angel, could be just the diversion she needs right now but, no matter how hot the tattooed biker is in and out of bed, she still misses her daughter back in England.
Story starts off with Eve, our British heroine who is traveling to Australia to visit her bff Teresa to participate in her wedding. Teresa's dad Elvis is one of the original members of the Severed MC (Australian MC) and Teresa is marrying the president of the Club, Bill/Bull (something like that, even though I thought the story should have started with Theresa and Bill and a bit more history on them but anyhoo). Then we have our Hero Gabe (Angel) who is the VP of the club.
Eve just got dumped by her bf/baby daddy leaving her with a 2 year old little girl Elizabeth, who she is leaving with her "un-trust-worthy" mother for a whole month!WTF? Once Eve arrives in Australia, minus the kid, plus a convertable she makes the wrong turn ending on the wrong side of town... she witnesses a murder and meets Satan (Gabe's identical twin brother) who is a VP of another motorcycle club, an evil one at that.. She barely escapes, Gabe saves her..bla bla bla.. Satan puts a 250 thousand dollar bounty on her head and Gabe is trying to protect while fighting his feelings towards her. Meanwhile she is whoring herself out to him, but her poor baby is thousands of miles away with her mother that she does not have a good relationship with! Yes, she might have been pretty, and nice, sweet or whatever but in this first novel to me she was a shit mother. She would skype with her daughter while lying in bed next to Gabe? Like wtf? Maybe it's my mothering instict, maybe I'm just a bitch but either way A. a month is long being away from her 2 year old. B. you left your daughter with a mother you don't trust C. If the guy put a bounty on you what makes you think he won't dig and go kidnap your child while youre screwing Gabe's brains out??
This book is off my personal list, I have been working so hard on getting caught up on all my review books. I thought it would be nice to read a book about MC life. You probably don’t know this, but my mother was in a MC with my step-dad before they died. Then my grandmother had us break ties with everyone we knew from the club and moved us away, ever since then I have been slightly obsessed about bikes, and the life. No, I have never gotten the chance to go back and try to reconnect, but I tend to find myself picking up these books to read.
If you are not familiar with the term MC, let me explain it. MC means Motorcycle Club, and no club is the same. You have your old ladies (the wives or girlfriends) they are the ones who help run the club. The ladies that cook and clean the clubhouse, and anything you can think of when dealing with the families. Then you have the club girls, (whores/slut) these women are there to take care of the single members that want some tail. The old ladies and club girls don’t mix, that would cause but nothing. Let’s not forget the Prospects, these guys are the ones who are trying to get in the club and have to work a probation period before they get patched in (every member goes through it). Once they are patched in, they become a member and they are a brother to all those with the patch. Of course, they do have their own jobs in the club (not going to list all of them). Now that I have given you a main idea of what the MC life is, let’s get to the review.
I loved this book, the authors have put on Goodreads that they don’t want spoilers. So I have to be very careful what I put and not give anything away. These guys did a great job on this book, it is full of details. It left you guessing and craving more. The characters are wonderful, and I would love to read more about them. I loved the plot, and the sex scenes were HOT!!!!
“Elvis is a huge man, not in a muscular way, just heavily built, with a beer belly that enters a room seconds before he does and juts over the top of his waistband.”
“I don’t find much, but what I do find makes me stop my snooping; a pair of skimpy knickers and a condom wrapper will do that.”
My Review:
Being new to this series I needed to read all 4 installments, meaning that this review required 962 pages of reading… and worth every word. I spent the weekend with this odd assortment of characters and found them quite entertaining. Hawt, well-built, well-endowed, foul-mouthed, multi-talented, romantic, witty, smart, sexy, and leather clad bikers… I had to run a fan constantly! I loved seeing the tender and loving sides to the otherwise badass bikers being exposed. I was taught to fear this subculture as a child, and even as an adult, I had never stopped to think of the human element underneath the leather and denim until stumbling upon this genre of books in recent months. I particularly like learning the stories behind their colorful names. I have enjoyed this series and found them suspenseful, sexy, and absorbing. I cared for most of the characters and wanted them all to get their HEA – although we lost some beloved members along the way. I am relatively new to this genre as well as these authors, but plan and hope to read more of them in the future.
I liked this book. It definitely didn't end how I thought it was going to. I mean HOLY CRAPBALLS! It isn't the rough and rowdy, dirty and gritty MC type of book. It is kind of, but not too bad. But Satan, isn't that name fitting. What he does to women, his total disregard for them.. and not only him, that whole MC. OMG. It was nauseating. Bleh. Disgusting. So much happened in this book. I cried for Elvis. I cried for Teresa. I cried for Eve. She had no one and everyone was being such assholes. Sorry, but they were. It wasn't her fault. She was holding guilt and blame for shit that wasn't hers to bear. Then you add in Angel. Like a white knight on a metal horse. A vibrating, loud metal horse. He's the alpha male of the book. The good guy, compare to his twin Satan. I loved their relationship. Though, sometimes the steamy stuff was missing a little ooomph, I still really really liked it. I still can't believe that dang ending! Or Elvis! OH MY GAWD! Really, I can't believe she drugged him and he didn't get a chance to talk to her! *shaking my head* Poor Gabe
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I don't quite know where to begin. This is a story that takes off from the beginning and never slows.
Ava is a young single mother who goes on vacation in Australia to visit her best friend who has fallen in love with a member of an MC. On her way to the MC compound things take a dramatic turn for the worst and all hell breaks loose.
Gabe was hot hot hot! Although very much the typical 1% biker he definitely had a softer side and more moral standing than the average biker.
The chemistry between Gabe and Ava was immediate and swoon worthy. Be warned this book is a major cliff hanger! You will want to read the next one immediately!
Ugh……I seriously hate the ending like I really & truly wanted to chunk my tablet across the room! Not only does Eve take the chicken shit way out, there's a huge Ta-Da moment right after it! I hope book 2 doesn't take to long to come out! Overall its a good fast paced book and keeps you on edge of your seat to see what will happen! Angel was more sensitive than any other biker I've read about! But in the end it was Angel, it made him unique and his own character! Eve she annoyed me and just grated on my nerves in some situations! But overall I enjoyed it and recommend!
