Ryan Davenport is Mayor of Ravenden. He’s a type A personality who likes things neat and orderly. He runs a tight ship and will do whatever it takes to keep Ravenden and those he cares about safe. But Gracie Montgomery doesn’t make that easy. She’s a carefree spirit with a death wish because she knows she can’t die, at least not by fire. A rare fire witch known as the phoenix means fire can never really hurt her. This makes her reckless and wild, a danger to those around her. But with an arsonist loose in Ravenden set on destroying their home, the two must set aside their differences and work together to stop him and save the town from the devastating fires while butting heads every step of the way in this opposites attract true mates romance.
Julie Trettel is a USA Today Bestselling Author of Paranormal Romance. She comes from a long line of story tellers. Writing has always been a stress reliever and escape for her to manage the crazy demands of juggling time and schedules between work and an active family of six. In her “free time,” she enjoys traveling, reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.
I really enjoyed this book and thought that It was another great addition to the Ravenden Series, as well as the Westin World that Julie Trettel has created. This book is about Mayor of Ravenden, Ryan and Gracie Montgomery’. Ryan is a control freak and thrives in order, whereas Gracie is a complete wild card and a free spirit. Gracie is a rare fire witch known as the phoenix which means that fire can’t hurt her. Her fire chief benches her for a week due to her reckless behaviour. The chief believes that Ravenden has an arsonist and that Gracie and Ryan should work together to find and stop the arsonist before more severe damage is done. These two constantly but heads but they eventually get on the same page and make an awesome team. They had a few preconceived notions about the other, so it was nice seeing them actually truely getting to know each other.
I thought the chemistry between them was completely off the charts, as well as hot as hell. Man, Ryan and Gracie are complete opposites but they balance each other out. Gracie also allows Ryan to let go and be more relaxed. I loved the snippet of Dean’s story, Sparks Flying and it seems like it’s going to be a really interesting read as his true mate isn’t a Raven. All I can say is that his mum is going to completely freak out. I don’t think the rest of the Raven Congress is going to take the news well either but I’m here for it. Shake some things up a bit. I’ve already pre-ordered His Treasured Mate (Six Pack Shifters Series), the Last Ultimatum (Westin Force Delta Series) and I’ll definitely be pre-ordering Sparks Flying when it’s available. I’m looking forward to reading all of them when they’re released I’d definitely recommend this book, series, all the Westin World books and author to everyone.
Regimented, Mayor of Ravenden, Ryan Davenport doesn’t allow for the unexpected to derail his day, especially when it’s business which is why he arrived to his meeting with the fire chief. Early to the meeting, Ryan overheard fire witch Gracie Montgomery being upbraided for her reckless behavior at last nights fire. When the chief arrives for their meeting, Ryan’s told for the second time about the overnight fires but he’s hearing the belief there may be an arsonist in the area.
With a surprisingly light day, Ryan asks to see the scene of the latest fire and surprisingly the chief agrees, suggesting Ryan might be able to find something the firefighters missed while looking for cause. Gracie’s given the duty to escort Ryan and the moment she enters the room to get her instruction, Ryan’s thoughts go to when they were younger on the fringes of each other’s lives and can’t stop thinking of her, for her part, Gracie’s just as stuck on Ryan.
This should have been a perfect read for me and there isn’t one (or more) issues to point out but for some reason, this outing didn’t connect Rating:3.5stars
3.0 Wild Fires follows the same familiar pattern I’ve come to expect from Julie Trettel: steady pacing, new characters, and very little spice. It’s an easy listen, nothing drags, and the world is simple to slip back into.
But just like with the last book, I’m really feeling how unchanged her style is. The tone, the structure, even the narration choices all stay in the same lane. Back when I first found her in 2021, that worked perfectly for me, I was new to audiobooks and easing into spicy reads. Since then, my tastes have shifted a lot, and these now feel incredibly tame and predictable.
At this point, I can see that I’ve outgrown her writing. Wild Fires confirmed what I’ve been feeling for a while, it’s time for me to move on from this author.
A familiar, easy listen with low spice and consistent pacing, but no longer aligned with where my reading tastes are heading.
If you are looking for an opposites attract, rise from the ashes kinda story then this book is for you! These two couldn’t be more opposite in their daily lives but when they are together they just work. Gracie is a true hero and will stop at nothing to help those she regards as family even it that is a chosen family. Ryan will do everything he needs to help his town. Together they can be unstoppable if he would just let her do her job. She is willing to risk everything but he doesn’t want to risk her. They make the best team when they work together. It is an amazing story and I think Gracie might one of my favorite heroines that Julie has ever written. Can’t wait to see where she takes these Ravens next.
I am determined to start writing Review/Reflections about some of the books I read. While this is the first Review/Reflection, I have read all of Julie Trettel's Westin World books.
I enjoy Julie's writing style as it is just the right amount of escape. Usually, when i read her stories, I find I can't put the book down as I am captivated, completely sucked in. I kept setting Wild Fires aside, distancing myself from the storyline because one my favorite places is currently experiencing wildfires. With this distancing in mind, I found Ryan and Gracie's romance to be sweet. I hope one for the future stories includes Andrew's story.
This is the 3rd book in the Ravenden Series and it has ALL the things we come to love from Julie Trettel and more, true mates, strong FMC, loveable, Alpha MMC and a touch of the mythical.
This is an opposites attractive HAE, Ryan and Gracie are so opposite they're perfect together. What they have in common is how much they would go through for the ones they love. Together, these two sizzle.
This book was beautiful! I absolutely LOVE Gracie! The struggles to accept each other and how amazing they work together is *Chef's Kiss*... Ryan and Gracie are so far my favorite Couple in Ravenden! I can't wait for more!
Julie has written and amazing story with Ryan and Gracie!
This book was a little different in an amazing way. She always follows the base story line. In this series she is breaking apart the cast system in the Raven World. And the way she does it is realistic. Change happens slow with often times a few “rebels”.
I enjoyed the story of the raven people or I should say people who turn into raven’s. I am still unsure about the plot as to why he was starting the fires but all in all it was a nice story..
