With a journey fraught with danger, heartache, and blossoming feelings, will they be able to heal his daughter in time? Or will they lose everything they hold dear when the possible becomes impossible?
sweet and magical with likable characters plus a quick little romance
this reminds me a lot of something you would see in a movie and honestly i wouldn’t have been mad if it was a bit longer! the fairytale vibes were very comforting
It was ok. The storyline wasn’t too insane, but I was glad with the short read. I felt like I needed to take a little break from these 600+ page books and just finish something quickly, even if it’s not as exciting.
“On Silver Wings” by Sydney Winward was a short read, but also an enjoyable and engaging story. Gabriel is on a quest to find and capture a fairy to cure his ailing daughter, but he finds more than he would have ever imagined. It was a quick read, and it was worth reading.
A cute little light-hearted story. I would have liked the romance to be a little more slow-burn and fleshed out, but it is only a novella, so any slower and I suppose it'd probably have to become a novel. Still, it was a fun read, and I'm glad I read it.
"On Silver Wings" by Sydney Winward is a delightful and heartwarming short story that blends magic, adventure, and romance into a captivating narrative. The story begins with Gabriel, a young widowed father, whose daughter contracts a deadly illness. The only way to save her is by catching a faerie, a task that proves to be both challenging and transformative.
Gabriel's journey takes an unexpected turn when he captures Lorella, a faerie who is not only kind and beautiful but also wary of humans due to their history of cruelty and selfishness. As they embark on a perilous journey to heal Gabriel's daughter, their perspectives on each other begin to shift. The story deftly alternates between Lorella and Gabriel's viewpoints, revealing their growing feelings and newfound trust in a subtle and effective manner.
Sydney Winward's writing is rich with detail, bringing the characters' journey to life with vivid descriptions and emotional depth. Despite the story's brevity, Winward takes her time to develop the romance between Lorella and Gabriel, ensuring it feels genuine and heartfelt. The found family trope is beautifully executed, adding a layer of warmth and charm to the narrative.
"On Silver Wings" is a cute and fluffy fairy tale that offers a perfect blend of magic and adventure, wrapped in a sweet, quick read. The characters are likable and their romance, though swift, is satisfying and believable. This story feels like something out of a fairy tale movie, and its ending leaves readers with a sense of contentment and joy.
In summary, "On Silver Wings" is a sweet and magical tale with likable characters and a quick, charming romance. It's a perfect read for anyone looking for a short, heartwarming story filled with love, magic, and adventure. I wouldn't have minded if it was a bit longer, but it remains a delightful read that I highly recommend.
A desperate man captures a faerie to save his dying daughter but finds his life and hers transformed by his act.
Gabriel sets out to capture a faerie in the hopes that her magic will cure his dying daughter. He inadvertently injures the faerie and it takes a while for trust to be established between the two but soon the faerie Lorella sees Gabriel is a good man and his heart is only set on trying to save his daughter.
Through their adventures their trust and companionship grows into something more than either one of them imagined. When Gabriel is injured, Lorella expends all her magic in saving him and he releases her from being bound to him and summons a faerie to take her away to heal her. Later she returns to heal his daughter and they look forward to a happily ever after as a joined family!
I really enjoyed this book! It was a magical experience to see how two different species could co-exist and live in harmony with each other. Certainly in our world today we need that more than ever now! Maybe we need a little or a lot of magic to make it happen though!
I wholeheartedly recommend this engaging book to all to read and to pass on to your friends and family to read as well! It’s a great book to read and to wish the world could live in peace like Gabriel and Lorella do! What a different world it would be!
Violence: High mild. There are a few mythical creature attacks and blood is depicted as well as near death, but it isn't dwelt upon enough for it to be disturbing. Worst part was the Chupacabra biting a character and sucking their blood making them faint to the point of death.
Sexual: Mild. There is cuddling, hand holding/touching, and kissing. It's swoony but doesn't go into steamy. Attraction is described as warmth throughout their chest/body.
Really a 3.5 but I rounded up because it was cute.
It was rushed, but I expected that. The romance was instant and I side-eyed it for a bit for statements like 'our souls seemed to know each other' and I worried I was walking into a fated mates trope. I loathe 99% of that genre. But it was okay, and it didn't go there.
For such a short story I found it sweet and interesting. I was surprised at there being Chupacabras in a fairy centric story, but it was a unique addition that I found intriguing. I liked how the fairies were described and the way their powers worked. It seemed like an introduction to a fairy tale/fae world that I'd read more from if the author has more.
A nice fluffy quick read. Not anything mind-blowing, but sweet and clean.
What an unexpected little novella! It made my heart so full and happy with the amazing love that blossomed between Gabriel and Lorella. 🥰
This short story was so well-written with amazing details describing their journey. I loved how even though it was told in third-person, each chapter went back and forth between Lorella and Gabriel’s thought processes. It revealed their growing feelings for each other in such a subtle and effective way. Along with this, I also really appreciated how despite its short length, Sydney Winward didn’t rush their love story and showcased their newfound trust for one another with care.
This book’s found family trope was just lovely and Gabriel’s daughters were so precious as well!
I would absolutely recommend this to all of the romance readers out there who need a tiny read that really fills their hearts with joy.☺️
This was a cute but short story about a human man who captures a fairy with the belief she must grant his wishes. His only wish is for her to cure his daughter who lies dying at home. Lorella, the fairy is very distrusting of the human, but comes to learn all human aren't alike and this very handsome man has a very kind heart. Still, she is his prisoner until he releases her of his own free will, or one of them dies. Affection develops between them in spite of this and she nearly kills herself draining her magic to save him.
I enjoyed this clean read very much and loved the ending.
Captured by a human, Lorella finds herself trapped, fearing for her life at the hands of Gabriel. Her friends and family have died at the hands of humans in the past, is she set to have to same fate? Or perhaps fate has something unexpected in store for her.. They do say true love finds you when you least expect it, and this adorable little fairytale is a prime example of that😍
This is super a lovely and cosy read, definitely one for when you need a quick “pick me up”❤️
I so enjoyed this little evening get away into Lorella’s & Gabriel’s tale. Desperate to save his daughter he captures a fairie but finds so much more than that. This is sweet and well paced. Sometimes the unexpected brings the best found families and love stories. I just loved it.
I don't really have much to say. It was cute.. I guess... I kind of wish Lorella and Gabriel would have not ended up together. I would love it if they were just besties by the end of the book, but I can understand why they fell in love.. I liked Gabriel and Lorella must be so cute as a small faerie..

Perhaps this little story was too brief to get a clear picture of author's abilities. It seemed rushed, predictable, and somewhat amateurish. I began to assume that this was probably the writer's first published piece, but then read in her bio that she was an award-winning best-selling author.
Cute little romance. I loved it. A little bit of stockholm syndrome but still a very sweet story. At the end of it I couldn't help but think "She was a faerie", he was "a single mom who works two jobs"... but well.
A little bit odd but ultimately a relatively sweet short romance novella in a fantasy setting. Probably wouldn't read it again as romance isn't my genre but if you enjoy romance and simplistic fantasy you'll probably enjoy this
There is quite a lot packed into this short story. I grew to like both the hero, Gabriel, and the heroine Lorella. I grew to care about them and found myself hoping things would work out for them both.
Such a cute and fluffy novella! There is such a developed story and so much characterization that I would have been delighted to read a longer version. The writing style is incredibly fun to read too.
awwh this feels so pure and gentle 🥹🤍 Gabriel meant no harm since the first time he met Lorella, but well, his approach could've been greater than that tho. this one's easy to read, and i enjoyed it!! i'm glad Lorella & Gabriel ended up being together.
This was my first story that I’ve read about faeries just to see if I liked the genre. The genre isn’t for me, but the story was well written and I still enjoyed the story/plot line.
A nice short and sweet story. It is a sad story, but it has a sweet ending. I enjoyed it for the short read it is. As far as spice goes it's fairly light. There are kisses and a few gentle touches and embraces but that's the extent of it.
