In twenty-four hours, marriage, mystery, and mayhem.
After recently arriving in Vancouver Island on a bride ship, aspiring seamstress Daisy Harper is determined not to rush into a hasty and quarrelsome marriage, a mistake her parents made. To avoid choosing the wrong man, she creates a rigorous list of ten requirements for a potential husband.
Mapmaker Seth Ryann moved to the colony to assist his partially blind brother, a local missionary. They’ll soon return to Ireland, but first, Seth is tasked by a friend to find a treasure of gold hidden in the mountains. Seth has the map to the treasure, but he’s missing the key.
When he discovers Daisy somehow has the key, the two agree to search for the treasure together. They’re left with little choice but to quickly enter a marriage of convenience. As they venture into the wilderness and work together to overcome danger, an undeniable attraction grows. But will they find the treasure only to lose what matters most?
Bride New Voyages Book 1: Finally His Bride Book 2: His Treasured Bride
Bride Ships by Jody Hedlund Book 1: A Reluctant Bride Book 2: The Runaway Bride Book 3: A Bride of Convenience Book 4: Almost a Bride
This was such a good marriage of convenience story! Seth and Daisy were thrown together into a life or death situation and then a marriage while they were still strangers. Even though both had events in their pasts that made them hesitant to enter into the marriage, they promised each other to seek an annulment once they located the treasure and ensured that it didn’t fall into the wrong hands.
I liked watching Seth and Daisy grow close and become friends during their journey. That was the first barrier to be broken down when each of them realized that they genuinely liked the other person and got along well with them. And, of course, it was sweet to see them begin to fall in love.
There were many moments of danger in this novel. They battled not only treacherous terrain and wildlife, but also men who wanted the treasure for themselves. This story kept me eagerly turning pages and interesting in finding out whether there truly was a treasure and whether these two would be able to locate it. His Treasured Bride is a great addition to the Bride Ships: New Voyages series.
(4.5 stars)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I love that Jody Hedlund’s Bride Ships series is expanding not only in stories, but in authors! Patti Stockdale’s contribution to the series is an adventurous tale of love, hope, and finding oneself. His Treasured Bride combines several of my favorite romantic tropes: marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and more. I also really appreciated that Seth and Daisy were truly friends, plus romantic tension. I’m excited for more in this series! 4/5 stars
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
His Treasured Bride by Patti Stockdale & Jody Hedlund
In twenty-four hours, marriage, mystery, and mayhem.
Buried treasure Marriage of Convenience Mystery Adventure
Daisy has been entrusted with a key to a supposed buried treasure. Seth has the map to said treasure. Due to the time period the only way they can hunt for this treasure together is by getting married. So they do. Will they fall in love along the way? Will they find the treasure?
Another great book by Jody Hedlund and Patti Stockdale (my first by Patti!). I only had one issue… there weren’t enough kisses, especially for a MOC book 🤭
I loved watching Seth and Daisy deal with their insecurities and the growing that they had to do to put those insecurities and selfish desires aside and learn to work together. The adventure and intrigue were perfect and believable.
I would recommend reading Finally His Bride before reading this one so that you understand the whole picture with the key and the treasure.
What a delight to get to read an early copy. This is my honest opinion and review.
His Treasured Bride, set in the mid 1860s on Vancouver Island, is itself a treasure! This well-written, immersive story continues a storyline started in the first book of the Bride Ships: New Voyages series Finally His Bride, but enough background information is given to make it easy to read as a standalone. It is a fun adventure chronicling a treasure hunt which at times becomes quite dangerous. Vivid descriptions of the Vancouver Island area put you at the scene as you travel through the mountains and to the seashore and caves. I love the delightful banter and situations between the two main characters Daisy and Seth and the way their romantic relationship develops in their marriage of convenience. A fast-paced plot, beautifully crafted characters, a picturesque setting, and sweet romance combine in this story to make an enjoyable, satisfying read. If you like marriage of convenience stories and treasure hunts, this book is for you! I highly recommend it.
Have you been reading Jody Hedlund's Bride Ships series? This is the second book in a branch off series, Bride Ships: New Voyages. Author Patti Stockdale wrote this one in collaboration with Ms. Hedlund and it was a fun read. I was excited that Daisy was the main heroine of the book. She was a good friend of the main character Willow, from the first book. Willow had a bit of an adventure in her book due to a key. Now it's Daisy's turn to have an adventure due to the very same key.
I had to giggle when Daisy finds herself in quite the predicament in the mapmaker's place of business and residence. I won't tell you what it is, just that I giggled and held my breath and hoped that she could be safe. And her adventure with Seth, the mapmaker, just keeps getting bigger and bigger as the story progresses. These two find themselves entrusted with a map and a key that start the biggest adventure of their lives...a marriage of convenience.
Neither one is obviously thrilled, which of course makes it delightful as a reader to watch. But I absolutely loved watching two people who have different backgrounds, pasts with struggles, thoughts of what their future will look like, take a leap of faith and proceed to build a friendship and come to trust and know another person which grows into love.
There's mystery and intrigue and a sweet and swoony romance. I really liked reading this story about two imperfect people working together in a common goal and finding love in the process.
Content: Clean. The characters get married but there are only kisses and some very mild innuendos. This is a Christian fiction novel. Some mild suspense.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Daisy and Seth come together in a marriage of convenience when they decide to go on a treasure hunt. Adventure, danger, and a sense of accomplishment help the characters grow in the story. There are times of mystery, being unsure of the future, and God's plan which eventually becomes known.
The story is a page-turner, has some humorous parts, and then times of despair, and unexpected outcomes. It's a great read which will inspire and warm your heart.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.
I loved this story by Jody Hedlund and Patti Stockdale. I loved the characters and the adventure that Daisy and Seth went on to reach the hidden treasure. I loved how on their journey they got to know each other and found love. I loved how Seth helped Daisy to see what things were most important in a husband and Daisy helped Seth to let go of his guilt from past mistakes. I loved that they could be open and honest with each other. I liked how this story had characters from the first book and how it continued Jody Hedlund’s bride ship series. I liked learning more about this time through this book.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes, and I loved how that played out in this book! Adventurous and fun, I really enjoyed reading this story!
Wow! I am so impressed by my first read by Patti Stockdale! I loved everything about this story. It certainly is Love Comes Softly meets Indiana Jones! What a fun adventure this was and such a beautiful heart-connecting romance. Jody Hedlund’s influence is present but it also has a fresh, fun voice to it. After reading the first book I was SO eager to get to know Daisy and to find out more about the hinted treasure, and this book surpassed everything I wanted and more. The romance has me sighing and the adventure turned the pages late into the night. The secondary characters were so well developed and added so much to the story. There was the perfect amount of faith content for me! I SO appreciated it and it was so well done. So much growth on Daisy and Seth’s part and the final chapter just melted me and wrapped everything up just perfectly.
I’m so thankful to Sunrise Publishing and Jody Hedlund for this complementary early copy. I was not asked to leave a positive review. My opinions are my own.
Daisy didn't expect to ever find a husband. She made a list of what she wanted in a mate. There couldn't be anyone that would even be close to her qualifications.
Seth had no need for a wife. He was determined to find the hidden treasure.
So how did Seth and Daisy land up married and on a treasure hunt together?
This is Book 2 of the Bride Ships New Voyages Series. I read Book one and loved it. Book 2 is even better. I really liked Daisy. She was a treasure. Did Seth see the treasure that was right there beside him?
Thank you, Jody Hedlund, for giving me the opportunity to read and review this wonderful story.
She stared at the pink bow. “How long do we remain bound?”
“I highly recommend forever, but you may remove the ribbon whenever you wish.”
Set in 1860’s Vancouver Island, this story picks up just after the end of Finally His Bride, which precedes it in the series. Overall, it’s a fun adventure with a large helping of romance. It has good bones and some lovely lines. Both characters are struggling to overcome the hurts of their past while fleeing the trouble that’s come upon them in their quest to help an incapacitated neighbor. There’s plenty of contrivances, as you’d expect in this genre, but it’s a sweet story of growth and love, as warm as the baths our MCs long for out on the treasure-hunting trail. Their adventure is filled with thieves and heights and dangerous trails - and possibly a kiss or two along the way.
This is my first adventure being selected for an advance Review Crew. I appreciate the authors selecting me for it. I think the idea of pairing a debuting author with an established one is fantastic. I’d love to see more of this in the future.
His Treasured Bride is the first book I have read written by Patti Stockdale, but I feel I am well acquainted with Jody Hedlund’s work. From my understanding, this book was written by Patti Stockdale and mentored and edited by Jody Hedlund. I look forward to reading more novels from Patti Stockdale. As always, it is a delight to go on an adventure with Jody Hedlund.
I used to never read the author’s notes. But I have grown to love reading the authors notes. It really gives a glimpse even more into the heart of the story. The notes helped paint a bigger picture.
I thoroughly enjoyed His Treasured Bride. Patti Stockdale said she pitched “Love Comes Softly meets Indiana Jones” and I can see the heart behind that. It definitely came through. His Treasured Bride is really well written. It was an easy read and very enjoyable.
The character development was great. I enjoyed getting to know Daisy and Seth on a deeper level. There are many layers to them as a character and it was fun getting to see the reasoning behind some of their thoughts. Daisy’s list of husband requirements gave me a good chuckle. I also had a list of husband requirements and preferences. So, I could totally relate to Daisy on that.
The relationship between Seth and Daisy starts off in a whirlwind hiding from the men after the treasure. By the end of the day, they are married. Wholly out of a marriage of convenience. In this day and age, we would not even consider this. But in this time period being unchaperoned was a big concern and would ruin any future marriage. Though they start off on their journey married, their relationship is just starting out. I loved seeing how they interacted and bonded as they met each challenge along the way to find the treasure.
The storyline was great and kept the reader engaged. The historical aspect was good.
The romance was not crazy over the top. It was in line with what I typically find in Jody Hedlund’s books, but just slightly toned down. There was some passion and some verbiage on emotions behind it. Nothing that made me uncomfortable.
Stockdale did an excellent job of pointing the reader to God. Seth’s struggle with his relationship with God was very real. I enjoyed his process and the aspects of faith that shone through.
*I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily chose to review it. All opinions are my own.
I completely enjoyed this addition to the Bride Ships stories by Jody Hedlund and Patti Stockdale. The story was a wonderful journey of adventure and romance!
Daisy Harper is given a key by her friend Willow and is asked to keep it safe. Mapmaker Seth Ryann owns a map and is tasked by his friend to find a treasure of gold. When he finds out Daisy has the key they decide to search for the treasure together. But since there are no chaperones available and accompanying Seth alone as a single woman would ruin her reputation, the two see no other choice but to quickly enter into a marriage of convenience that they plan to have annulled as soon as they return home.
What a fresh and fun adventure this was! The story picks up where the last book ended and continues the intrigue of Issac’s treasure and where it could be hidden. It was so great to visit with Willow again right at the start of this book. I really enjoy Daisy and Willow's friendship. If you haven’t read the last book you will get enough of the pieces of that story here, so His Treasured Bride can completely stand alone. This book was so well done! I appreciated how Seth and Daisy had a true friendship from the start. They cared about each other so much. Their friendship only grew as they went further on their journey and it was so precious. It was something they both wanted to keep but they also could not ignore their attraction to each other. Daisy is an absolute sweetheart and I loved seeing her growth. She was so brave and strong. Seth also has some great growth. He is so protective but fears he will be unable to keep Daisy safe because of a couple incidents in his past. These two connected so well. I loved some of the playful scenes they had together, their banter and their beautiful romance is sigh-worthy. This story is fast paced and will keep you turning the pages quickly. If you enjoy historical romances and marriage of convenience stories this is one you do not want to miss!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
"His Treasured Bride" is the second in the Bride Ships: New Voyages series. Daisy Harper is a spunky young woman, having arrived on Vancouver Island on a bride ship, hoping to open a sewing shop to pay for her mother’s voyage from the old country. Having already turned down the offers of ten suitors, she unwittingly becomes involved in a treasure hunt, which she insists being part of, but which involves a marriage of convenience.
The opinionated Daisy has a husband-requirements list, which grows even after an imperfect wedding, and an adventure with her temporary husband, a handsome mapmaker named Seth Ryann. Blimey, she’d have to learn to ride a horse, and a lot more, before their marriage could be annulled as planned. Thanks to a wise and meddling landlady, a brother, and a trapper, Daisy and Seth work through preconceived notions and painful pasts.
What about the treasure? Follow Daisy and Seth on their trek through tricky clues, storms, bad guys, and difficult terrain as they hunt for the hoped-for gold. You’ll love the whole delightful adventure.
His Treasured Bride is written by one of my favorite historical fiction authors, Jody Hedlund. This is book two in the Bride Ships: New Voyages series. I’ve not read book one but I didn’t have any issues with following along. I absolutely loved Daisy. She’s spunky, opinionated, and has a husband requirement list.
She arrives on Vancouver Island on a bride ship. She hopes to open her own sewing shop so that her mother can come over eventually. She finds herself on a treasure hunt which she willingly takes part in. The end result: a marriage.
She finds herself with mapmaker, Seth. She plans to have the marriage annulled but with the help of others they start to get to know each other.
This author always captures history so brilliantly. She always adds such great details where you feel like you’re there watching everything unfold.
Thank you to the author, publisher and JustRead Publicity tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
DNF The writing was pretty bad. Daisy kept saying she's "peachy" but 1. I don't think that was a common term in the 1860s and 2. she has hardly seen grass and trees because she grew up in the slums so does she even know what a peach is? On that same note, how is she good at fishing?
I was so excited when I received a copy of this book. I love all Jody Hedlund books and Patti Stockdale made such a great addition to the series. We see action, romance and historical adventure. Love the characters and the story, I wanted the story to continue or have an extra book added to the series. So good!
This is the second book in Jody Hedlund's Bride Ships Series, and it lived up to my high expectations after I enjoyed the first book in the series. Daisy is working in a sewing shop, and dreams of opening her own shop one day. Her dreams have caused her to become very picky in accepting marriage proposals, so it surprises everyone when she chooses to accept a marriage of convenience with Seth the mapmaker to help safeguard a hidden treasure and protect their own lives.
I loved the dual point of view and the adventures that this couple had as they safeguarded the key to the treasure and searched for it as well. Their shared moments of friendship and love made the story heartwarming and lovely. Overall it was a 5 star read for me!
Thank you to the author for the complimentary copy. A review was not required.
I have discovered with every book by Author Jody Hedlund, once you start reading you cannot put it down. Dusting will have to wait. Aspiring seamstress Daisy Harper arrives on a bride ship to Vancouver Island with a list of ten requirements for a potential husband. She does not want to rush into a hasty and troublesome marriage like her parents. Mapmaker Seth Ryann arrives to the island with a map to a treasure of gold, exact location unknown. He intends to return to Ireland when he finds the treasure. Seth soon learns that Daisy has the key, so they decide to work together which involves a marriage of convenience. So off they go on a wild adventure. Will Daisy be so obsessed with her list that she loses sight of the attraction she feels to Seth? Believe me, dusting can wait, His Treasured Bride is too good to miss!
I received a complimentary copy from the author. The opinions are my own.
Thank you to Sunrise Publishing and the authors for the ARC of His Treasured Bride by Jody Hedlund and Patti Stockdale. All opinions are my own.
After reading Finally His Bride, which is book one in the Bride Ships: New Voyages series, I knew that I wanted to read the next book to find out what happened with the treasure.
His Treasured Bride is both a romance and a sort of adventure story with characters facing danger and getting to know one another through a marriage of convenience.
Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes, and it was done so well in this story. Seth was very protective of Daisy, and I love how he would do anything for her even though he hadn’t known her for very long.
The romance in this story wasn’t as strong as some of Jody Hedlund’s other stories, but I still enjoyed it. I feel like this book focused more on the friendship between the love interests instead of the romance (although there were a few really sweet romantic moments throughout).
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, closed-door historical romance.
Jody Hedlund's Bride Ships series has another sweet book with "His Treasured Bride" co-written with Patti Stockdale. This continues the 2nd Bride Ships book and picks up right where "Finally His Bride Ends" so it's important that any reader reads that book first. The key to the treasure chest is given to the main character in this book Daisy Harper. Right after the key is passed to Daisy, the adventure begins and keeps going until the end.
The book was fairly fast paced and this "marriage of convenience" trope is fully of adventure and beautiful scenery. With this treasure hunt there are dangerous villains, mountains to climb and rivers to cross. The book is cute and enjoyable all the way through to the end. I would recommend this book to upper high school readers and beyond and it is a clean, sweet read.
Thank you to Jody Hedlund and Patti Stockdale for the chance to review an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Did a teenager write this?? I was so disappointed in this book. I am a big fan of Jody Hedlund but this book found me skipping over a LOT of completely blah writing. The characters were very shallow and undeveloped and the dialogue was at times repetitive and just immature. And the entire book was just honestly boring. Again, I normally love Jody Hedlund books but this one was a waste of time.
Action and adventure await in this treasure hunting, marriage of convenience story! What a fun sequel in the Bride Ships: New Voyages series! His Treasured Bride is my first book by Patti Stockdale and won’t be my last. I loved that she teamed up with favorite author Jody Hedlund to bring us this fantastic book. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as this story took me on a romantic, true treasure hunting adventure.
Seamstress Daisy Harper just arrived on Vancouver Island on a bride ship determined to succeed in opening her own shop. Though she’s had more than ten marriage proposals, Daisy’s holding out for the man who meets all the requirements on her list. When her friend entrusts her with the key to a hidden treasure, Daisy gets more than she bargained for when she finds herself in imminent danger along with the man who holds the map to the treasure.
Mapmaker Seth Ryann followed his partially blind, missionary brother from Ireland to Vancouver to watch over him. When an injured friend enlists Seth’s help in locating his deceased brother’s hidden treasure, Seth agrees. Though he has the map, he’s missing the key. When he meets Daisy who has the key, they realize they must work together to locate the treasure of gold. But, they’re not the only ones after the treasure. In order to travel through the wilds of Canada and protect Daisy, they need to be married. Despite their misgivings, they agree to a marriage of convenience with the promise that it’ll be annulled after they locate the treasure.
I loved the forced proximity and all those fun awkward moments a marriage of convenience brings. Daisy & Seth are both reluctant to give in to their feelings and carry a lot of insecurities. And, Daisy has her list of requirements for the perfect man. I loved watching them start out as friends and then grow closer. There’s a sizzling attraction that develops as they face all sorts of dangers on their quest. I loved how their idea of love changed along the way. I enjoyed the descriptions of this area of Canada. Anyone who’s visited knows it’s breathtaking, and the author did a great job capturing all the beautiful scenery.
Highly recommend this amazing continuation of the Bride Ship series! While it’s a sequel, the author did a fantastic job making it so it could be easily read as a stand alone. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided. 4.5-5 stars!
His Treasured Bride is an adventurous treasure hunt in the wilds of 1860s Vancouver Island. The beginning sets a fast pace, racing through danger and unexpected circumstances so quick you can hardly put the book down. There is an immediate spark between Seth and Daisy which is accentuated by their amusing witty banter. Villains after the Poet’s treasure circle from every side. Thrown into a marriage of convenience, they set off to follow the map, unravel the clues, and find the treasure before danger catches up with them. The pace was a bit slower on the trail giving you a chance to appreciate the wild beauty and the romance blossoming between Seth and Daisy. After they found their way to the old cabin, the intensity picked up again and carried through the rest of the story. The unique locations of the hidden treasure clues was a lot of fun. Daisy’s hesitation to defend herself and those she cares about in the beginning was a bit hard to take in, but she really adjusted well and saw the importance of doing what she needed to do as the tale went on. She grew so much by the end, not only in her knowledge of outdoor living but also in her willingness to take a chance on love despite her fears. Seth had a great journey of letting go and seeing that God was the only one who could truly protect those we love. Together they overcame the scars of their past and found what it meant to fight for their love just in the nick of time. There were a few cute, almost cheesy, moments with the necklace, poems, and flower petals. The ending felt so hopeful, beautiful, and settled. It was great to see Seth and Daisy building their lives together and the richness that comes from it. I received an advanced reader copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Book two in a fun new series! You should read book one first. It’s not necessary to understand this book but it’s an amazing novel on its own! And I’m always of the firm belief that if it’s in a series you should read them in order. Plus this book does continue the storyline from book one.
This is a fun marriage of convenience novel. Our heroine, Daisy, has said that she’s going to choose her husband carefully. She’s not going to rush into it. It will be a man of her choosing. And then. . . she enters into a marriage of convenience.
Seth is trying to find a treasure for a friend. He’s in the colonies with his partially blind missionary brother. They’ll be back to Ireland soon. In the meantime, he has a map of the treasure but no key.
When it’s discovered that Daisy has the key she and Seth enter into a marriage of convenience. And they’re off for the treasure!
This was a fun novel. It moved along quickly with some suspense and some romance. It’s set in the 1860s in Vancouver. I loved the descriptions of the area and getting a glimpse into the history. I’ve never been so it felt like maybe I was getting to visit. Of course, if I did visit in the modern day it would be very different I’m sure!
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from JustRead Publicity Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
I enjoyed the way this story eased right from the first book into the continuing story of a young woman who had travelled with Willow from England to Vancouver Island on a bride ship. I suggest you read Willow’s story first for some of the background. Daisy is one spunky young woman who knows what she wants and is set on fulfilling her dreams. Her approach to doing that may be somewhat misguided, but she has a good heart and learns quickly. The surveyor also knows what he wants and a bride at this stage of his life is not among the things he seeks. However, Seth may just have to take a bride in order to accomplish what he has promised. I have read about marriages of convenience, but Seth finds himself suggesting a marriage of convenience on a temporary basis. Figure that one out. Or better yet, read the story to find out what that means and how it works out. The goal is to find a treasure of gold before it gets into the wrong hands. The entire matter is complicated by the fact that the person who mined the gold and hid it is dead. He left his map and the key to the treasure chest to his brother who is simple-minded and far too trusting. He is also in a coma after being badly beaten by someone who wants to steal his gold. The story will keep you turning pages to see what happens next as Seth and Daisy continue following the clues. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Christian Historical Fiction is one of my favorite genres. His Treasured Bride by Jody Hedlund & Patti Stockdale is the most recent in this genre that I have read. It is Book 2 in the Bride New Voyages series.
The setting is 1860's on Vancouver Island. The 2 main characters are Seth Ryann and Daisy Harper. Daisy has a key to a buried treasure and Seth has the map of the location of this buried treasure. They want to go on a Treasure Hunt for the treasure together. They know in order to be a team they have to be married. They decide on a "Marriage of Convenience" and set out on their Treasure Hunt. They encounter danger along their path. They also acknowledge they both have broken pasts that could hinder a true love. Will they grow closer together as they spend more time together? Will they find the Buried Treasure?
The storyline had me amazed from the first chapter! I LOVE Marriage of Convenience stories and this one did not disappoint. I really LOVE how Seth and Daisy helped each other in so many areas. Not only in hunting for the Buried Treasure, but they helped each other really learn about being husband and wife, growing more in LOVE each day. They helped each other overcome their past mistakes and look brightly to the future. They also leaned on their faith and trusted God's plan for their journey. The book is a definite page turner. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Fiction. GREAT BOOK!
A marriage of convenience, a treasure hunt, and dangerous villains on their trail!
In His Treasured Bride, Daisy Harper is a young woman who recently arrived in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, via a bride ship armed with her sewing supplies and a husband-requirement list. Ready to start her new life as a seamstress and look for the perfect man, she is surprised by a visit from a fellow bride-ship friend, Willow. Willow asks Daisy to safeguard a key that supposedly unlocks a treasure of gold. Seth Ryann, a mapmaker in Nanaimo, was given a map with clues to the same treasure. He and Daisy get thrown together when thieves try to steal the map and key from them. The only way to keep their town safe from the dangerous men threatening Nanaimo and its residents is to enter a temporary marriage, for propriety's sake, and strike out to find and retrieve the gold before anyone else gets hurt.
This is a delightful read by Patti Stockdale with the help of Jody Hedlund. Patti brings this next Bride Ships: New Voyages story to life with a thrilling treasure hunt, ruthless criminals on Daisy and Seth's heels, and a budding friendship that could become something more if Daisy and Seth can put their fears aside.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Jody Hedlund, Patti Stockdale, and Sunrise Publishing. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
His Treasured Bride is the second book of the Bride Ship: New Voyages series. It could be read as a standalone, but the adventure really begins in book one and the characters crossover, so I would recommend reading the books in order. The story started out quickly with a brief visit to Daisy from Willow, one of the main characters in book one, and a marriage of convenience with the mapmaker, Seth Ryann. The hunt for the treasured gold is an exciting and entertaining adventure. It is touted as a mix of Love Comes Softly, and Indiana Jones. There were parts along their journey that were a little slower which made time to get to know the characters and their desires for their futures. Seth and Daisy found their own inner strength, but also strengthen in each other. The romance was charming and realistic. I enjoyed the clever clues and insights into “The Poet”, who had buried the treasure. This book was written by Patti Stockdale under the collaboration with Jody Hedlund. She wrote a very detailed and descriptive dialog that made you think you were looking at a picture. I thought she did a wonderful job of drawing in and holding my attention through out the story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
