Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Josie’s point of view

– a character deals with anxiety & being around tons of people at once

– a character was injured has amnesia; in addition to the amnesia, the character stutters quite a bit in the beginning of the book as they are having trouble remembering some things & words they once knew

– a character’s parents care more about the character going back to work rather than taking time to recover

– there are two curse words (variations of the a word for donkey)

Review:

I really enjoyed this second chance romance! Wyatt was adorable with Josie and I loved how much he cared about her & she cared about him. I loved that the amnesia brought them together & it made sense that Josie wanted to be careful to not put her heart on the line when neither of them had all the facts of Wyatt’s new life. I loved that Wyatt was conscious of Josie’s social anxiety and did his best to help her through it or out of a situation that cause it to flare up (though of course he wasn’t perfect all the time with it). I liked that we didn’t really know what happened to cause Wyatt to get injured in the first place until much later in the story. By having it fade out of my attention, I could focus more on the growing romance between the two of them.

Summary:

Josie fell for Wyatt Hayes in middle school before anyone else paid attention to him. Now he’s a famous singer and actor that everyone is obsessed with. Josie & Wyatt kept in touch the best they could in the beginning, but the life of fame seemed to take its toll on their relationship. So Josie followed Wyatt’s career to keep up to date on her friend’s life and started to worry when news broke that he’d been in an accident.

When she unexpectedly gets a call from Wyatt’s manager requesting that she get on a flight to come see Wyatt, Josie is over the moon with hope and worry. Because that accident? It caused Wyatt to lose his memory of the years they were apart. He has no memory of being famous or even leaving Victoria Falls. And Josie isn’t sure if that’s a good thing or a bad one. Because she isn’t sure what caused Wyatt to stop keeping in touch with her nor what kind of life he had before the accident… and how it could change everything when he finally does remember…

First I would like to thank the author for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Josie, high school student, who randomly gets a call from Wyatt Hayes', superstar and childhood friend, management team informing her of Wyatt's accident and asking if she could come visit him. After convincing her parents, Josie hops on a private jet to see Wyatt for the first time in years hoping she can help with his recovery. When she arrives, Wyatt only remembers everything before he won the reality talent show and doesn't even realize how famous he actually is. As the two reconnect, Wyatt wants to know more about why they lost contact and tries to navigate the not knowing what is happening but trusting in his gut instinct about certain people. More time passes and Wyatt can't remember but his team is pushing him to do more and puts him in front of more people to help him remember which makes Josie feel insignificant. When Wyatt finally does agree to go back to work he convinces Josie to go with him and when they are there he learns how the team has been manipulating him and goes back home with Josie. With time away he reconnects with his fired PA and gets his memories back then starts working on fixing everything that goes wrong with Josie by his side.

What I Liked:
- Second chance, Josie and Wyatt clearly had feelings for each other before he was famous but as kids they didn't know what to do about it so I loved they got to reconnect
- Reason why he left, without giving it away I loved the driver for why Wyatt was fighting his management team
- Josie, even as a superfan she makes sure that while he is recovering she tries to do everything to help him heal and not geek out (too much)
- Toxic environment, I loved that this story really shows the toxicity of the entertainment industry especially when it comes to young people and how manipulative both family and management can be
- Josie's siblings, they tell it like it is and they really don't care if you are a famous superstar or their sister

Overall this was a really sweet second chance romance story which was really focused on the healing of Wyatt and the support Josie gives him throughout his ordeal. If you are looking for a YA romance with a celebrity and the girl he left back home but never forgot please to check this book out.

I skipped a lot of pages

This piece is a bit different from what I'm used to seeing from her. I really enjoyed the plot of the story, but I felt it was a bit longer than necessary. Even when I skipped a few chapters, I didn't feel like I missed too much.

I was honestly not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. The author did a wonderful job on the plot development. If based on plot alone, this would be a five star review.

The Good:
The surprise element completely hit the mark. You are kept guessing about several events and the intentions of others until they are delightfully revealed. Why did Wyatt and Josie lose touch? What are those key pieces he can't remember, and how do they affect everything? Who around them can they trust?

As I said, the plot was well thought out and written well. Where some fully developed plots can tend to drag, this one keeps you sucked in and turning pages. It took a lot of work to make this story believable, yet not like every other amnesia book out there, but the author succeeded. I was never bored while reading.

The Not So Good:
There are two curse words. I've read worse, but it took me off guard when I read them and can be a deal breaker for some so I wanted to mention them.

The writing is mediocre at times. While the plot and characters are both well written, the actual writing style is subpar in comparison. There are several repeated phrases (some cliche) and weak emotional portrayal, such as simply describing physical reactions instead of how a character feels while experiencing certain physical reactions. The weak writing is sporadic throughout the book, mixed in with enough entertaining dialogue and plot elements that is wasn't too unpleasant.

I would definitely recommend this to others. It was a satisfying read with the perfect amount of suspense.

😊What i liked -

✔ Second Chance/Celebrity/Amnesia/Young Adult.
✔ I liked how Wyatt was with Josie, so caring and concerned.
✔ Thanks to the amnesia there were many places it tended to keep you guessing about many things, as to why it happened the way it happened.
✔ Few of the characters were quite likeable and few just grew on you.
✔ Liked the plot and the storyline.

🤔What could have been better-

✔ There were a few places where I felt Josie was being treated like a doormat and she seemed fine by it. (that was how i felt)

📚Who Should read :
👶Beginners
💝Romance Lover
💕Young Adult Romance
💞Second Chance Romance

Josie & Wyatt were kind of adorable. As childhood friends, these two grew very close. And in pursuit of a singing career early on in life, Josie encouraged Wyatt to enter a talent contest. After Wyatt’s fame skyrocketed, he moved away & lost touch with Josie. Heartbroken for losing a very close friend, but happy for his success, Josie has held quite a torch for her old friend. While looking like a star crossed fangirl, she holds true that he must remember her. When suddenly, she receives a random call from an anonymous number where Wyatt has been requesting her presence.
Wyatt is suffering from a bout of amnesia. But he remembers his beautiful friend who was always there for him. Watching these two reconnect was sweet. Wyatt is his old self, & slightly afraid of the man he has become, but with Josie by his side, maybe he can handle it.
I loved the relationship they formed anew as Wyatt was navigating his memory loss. Josie was steadfast in her support of him at all costs, no matter how hard it was for her. But as Wyatt slowly began remembering things, he slowly figured out the true joys in life.
Watching these two come full circle with their second chance from childhood friends to so much more, it was evident that the pasture is not always greener on the other side. Sometimes it can make or break you, but holding tight to your true self is what will make you happiest.

Why Girls Can’t Date Celebrities is a friends to lovers, second chance romance book. This is the loving story of Josie and Wyatt. I love how Josie and Wyatt were friends since they were school. Josie has been in love with Wyatt since they were in middle school. However, when Wyatt won a reality tv show and he became a household name. However, one day Josie receives a call from Wyatt’s manager informing her that she needs to board a private plane, and she’s also is informed that Wyatt had been in a terrible accident which caused him to have short-term amnesia. This is all the details I’m gonna give on this book. However, the storyline is perfectly executed and it’s entertaining as well as enjoyable to read. I love how Josie is willing to get on a plane to help the man she had love since they were in middle school. The chemistry between Josie and Wyatt is quite compatible and just amazing. Why Girls Can’t Date Celebrities is beautifully written and the story is executed amazing. I would most certainly encourage anyone to read this book. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out next by author Milly Rose.

This was an engaging YA story. On its face it’s a sweet celebrity, childhood sweethearts, lost memory romance. Under the surface, there is intrigue, secrecy, and conflict, not to mention family drama. The romance was lovely as they found each other again, with the complication of memory loss. I liked the characters and the layers that the secondary characters added to the story. I liked Josie’s family. The main characters were so tender and supportive with each other, for the most part. The romance was great. I was kept guessing as to how it could all be resolved. There are some twisty and interesting events. I do question some of the legalities with having legal documents, for instance, an NDA, signed by an underage adolescent. This story includes elements that involve parental estrangement, accident, injury, hospitalization, manipulation, and anxiety. This book is part of a series and there is light carryover but it reads well as a standalone. This is a closed door romance with no harsh language.

Finding home
Shy girl Josie gets the shock of her life when she’s called in to help her old school crush after he’s been in an accident.
Wyatt’s a high profile movie star now but his memory loss pus him back to when they were together.
This is full of drama, mystery and Hollywood secrecy and manipulation.
Wyatt and Josie are only 16 and 17 but they are mature and at the same time vulnerable. The complex issues surrounding them and their coping strategies are realistic and their strong bond is beautiful.
This sweet and emotional tale eventually brings them back to Victoria Falls and the familiar characters from the previous books help them find safety and happiness.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very end!

It has been a very rare occurrence that I could just pick up a book and read it within an hour or so, without having to skim through the touch and go pages; but, I must admit that I was captivated by these characters and their amazing love story instantaneously.

You can tell that the author truly took their time in developing the characters and their love story. Where sometimes this can be tedious and a bore to read; however, this was created in such a way that this was an extremely satisfying read.

This storyline came from a perspective I’d never thought about yet was probably spot on in many aspects when you have a teen that finds fame quickly. It was thought provoking to read about Wyatt and Rosie’s relationship along with the people who have a vested interest in Wyatt’s career, be it for his good or their own self centered reasons. It was extremely sweet how Rosie wanted to protect Wyatt in spite of her own insecurities and age. An enjoyable read.

Josie & Wyatt: Shy Girls Sweet Romances: Former friends to possibly more/ anxiety-short-term amnesia/ shy girl-celebrity/ mystery/ second chance young adult clean romance: Standalone series with some interconnecting characters: This is a sweet romance about reconnecting, healing, and support. I enjoyed their journey to get his memories back, and to find their way back into each others lives. This is a great addition to the series.

Cute, Missing pieces, and Confusion

It was not as good as I was expecting. The storyline felt like it was missing a lot of things. Sure, the time they spent together was cute and sweet, but a lot of things were very unrealistic. It was like everything was just handed on a silver platter, not much substance and depth to the book. Felt like I was reading a fanfiction or a self insert story about falling in love with a celebrity and how it would just easily work out even though the logistics of everything doesn't add up.

So far I am on page 89 and like the idea of it. Josie seems a little bit more naive than she was in the previous book. In the previous book she was an introvert and a book worm but was not afraid to speak her mind when her friend was being dumb. This book she is timid and apparently full of anxiety. We shall see how it goes!

This book is more mushy than the others. A lot of pet names and calling each other cute. The storyline isn’t really unique. Half of the book felt slightly redundant but good. No third act breakup but was concerned for a while there.

I was really entertained by the premise of the story. I was half way through and wondered if it could have been written as older characters as it seemed the author had so much extra to think about using juvenile characters in an adult world. I think Milly did a great job with those adult things except a glaring one...the company jet usage near the end.... very expensive and easily thwarted...but it didn't happen.

Good enough ending.... Ashworths coming through was out of nowhere??

This book stars Josie from Shy girls can't Fake Date and her childhood love Wyatt Hayes, turned singer/child actor. It explores the subject of amnesia and feelings of not being good enough. There's themes of manipulation and forcing someone to get back to work when they are not ready to do so.
This book definitely has it's cringe worthy moments and sweet moments too.
Though to be honest I liked some of Milly Rose's other works a bit better than this one.

This one was sooooooooooo good! I may have a new favorite! There were some really sweet, and cute moments. Then there were some tense and suspenseful moments that just made me want to cry. I think this should be a movie. Somebody call Hollywood! This works as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read them all!

I've been a fan of this series for awhile and love all of them, but this book might be my new favorite of it. Wyatt and Josie are adorable together, and I had so much fun following their story. I'll definitely be rereading this in the near future and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series already.

Part of the Shy Girls Sweet Romances series, Shy Girls Can’t Date Celebrities, can be read as a standalone but some of the characters may overlap.
I really liked the characters and the plot of this story but I found the pace a little slow and repetitive. When the FMC, Josie, goes to visit the MMC, Wyatt, it seems as though she’s there for a long time but it ends up only being about a week. There’s a lot of unnecessary getting in and out of SUVs, and attitude from Wyatt’s team, etc. I understand that the author is trying to make the point that Wyatt’s life has become a toxic, draining environment but I felt a bit bored. Other than that, I would absolutely recommend this series. I’ve enjoyed the other books I’ve read and this one is definitely worth the read.

This was a sweet second chance romance of friends that warms your heart as Josie and Wyatt reconnect after an accident causes Wyatt to lose his memory.

I love how they are there for each other, Josie after the accident and Wyatt as she was in his new life.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🌶:kissing only (clean)
❗️:amnesia

I have loved all of Milly's previous books, so I knew I was going to love this one.

If you love a second chance, golden retriever MMC vibes, you're going to love this book.

I absolutely loved Wyatt ,he was such an adorable character, with impossible odds stacked against him,and when he gets injured he goes straight to his safe space ,the girl he left behind and the only girl he has ever loved.

Josie was a great character,She loved and supported Wyatt even after he became famous and possibly stopped loving her.
I loved their romance and how they grew and supported each other.
And the bit of mystery sprinkled in was great

Am I unable to read these kind of stories now because I’m a parent? *face palm* So much of this story would have resonated better with me if they were college aged. Allowing your teenage daughter to leave with strangers and be gone for so long is just crazy to me. I tried to look past all of that because I was interested in what trauma caused him all of this strife. But then that fell flat also. I wanted more when it came to the reveal and it felt like it was rushed.
