Would you rather know what your best friend’s lips feel like against yours but get ghosted immediately after… or never even taste the possibility of forever? What could be worse than inconveniently falling for your long-distance best friend? How ‘bout sharing an unexpected, but magical, Christmas kiss with him, then being ghosted ever after…
It's been three months since Caroline has spoken to Griffin Lovett—since he leaned in, gave her the kiss of her life, then returned to his life across the country without another word. After praying through the heartbreak, then pouring her emotions into glitter-filled crafts, Caroline is properly distracted with spring wedding plans for her sister, spending time with her siblings, and enjoying her job as Sugartree Elementary’s newest kindergarten teacher. She’s nearly over the event.
In fact, she barely, BARELY, even thinks about how special Griffin Lovett made her feel or how much she misses their easy conversations. And she definitely does NOT daydream about how impossibly soft his lips felt against hers. But when Griffin unexpectedly returns to Sugartree and enrolls his son in Caroline’s class, she’s forced to confront her best friend, and her very real feelings for him, every single day.
B.R. Goodwin is a Georgia native, married to her college sweetheart, and the mother of three wild animal children she adores. When she isn’t writing Christian Fiction, she’s reading, hiking, bee-keeping, soccer mom-ing, homeschooling, or planning her family’s next big adventure while drinking copious amounts of tea and coffee.
Above all else, the heartbeat of everything she does in life, friendship, and writing is with an eye to sharing the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ with everyone she meets.
She recently dove head & heart first into the contemporary rom-com genre and is having the time of her life cackling at her own jokes and dreaming up swoon-worthy storylines for her characters.
BR Goodwin is quickly becoming a must-read for me. The sweetness of the books and the faith presented makes me giddy with happiness since it's wrapped up in romance. All readers who like Christian contemporary romance should give her a try.
Honeysuckle Breeze can be read on its own but the series is so good (it's book 2) that you should read all the books in my opinion. I loved the dynamics between Griffin and Carolina and the adorableness that is Theo. There were parts that made me laugh, gasp out loud, and swoon. I didn't want my time to end. I can't wait for book 3.
*I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. My review was not required nor influenced.
I feel like I have said this so much, but B.R. Goodwin has created the cutest world in Sugartree with the sweetest characters that will make you laugh, cry, and swoon. I was so excited to read this one because I loved Caroline in SOUTHERN SNOW and couldn’t wait for her story. 🫶🏼
HONEYSUCKLE BREEZE is the second christian romance book in the Sugartree series following Caroline and Griffin, and we can’t forget little Theo who definitely deserves a mention. this romance jumps through time between pre-kiss and post-kiss moments between our two main characters giving context to the friendship that blossomed before and the efforts that Griffin makes to show Caroline he is back in Sugartree for good.
what I loved about HONEYSUCKLE BREEZE 🍯 the text exchanges between our two main characters 🪻Caroline’s constant NEED for a lavender latte (which Griffin happily gets for her regularly) 🐝 the remillard siblings + the lovett boys’ need to always give nicknames 💜 the attention to detail that the author places in the moments, the dialogue, the scenery ✝️ easter sunday (this moment got me in my feels) 😺 King Gus, iykyk 🌼 all the spring vibes
this lovely book comes out on March 19th! I cannot thank B.R. Goodwin enough for letting me be part of the Sugartree Street Team and getting an ARC of this book.
B.R. Goodwin’s ability to write a sweet, cozy story with humor, lovable characters, and moments of beautiful Gospel Truth is amazing. Each of her characters are distinctly themselves and truly feel like people I would love to be around. I want to get to know each one of her characters better!
Caroline and Griffin are simply the best. Their dynamic leaps off of the page and sprinkling in their siblings and, of course, Theo, it’s like a southern hug. (Honestly all of the southern charm in this book reminds me of why I love living in the south!) I love the dynamic of the Remillard siblings. I legitimately can’t wait for the next book in the series because I need Dakota and Sadie’s story NOW 😍
This was sooo good! It's a small town romance, but it didn't feel the same as all the other small town romances. (I don't know how to describe it.) I loved the humor and the family teasing. Some chapters are written as texts between Caroline and Griffin to catch you up on their relationship before *the event* but they don't disturb the flow of the story. Pick this one up if you're in the mood for a lighthearted, fun, family-and-faith-filled, spring romance!
Many thanks to the author for giving me an ARC copy. All opinions are my own.
B. R. Goodwin’s newest rom-com is a bucket of sunshine that will get you in the mood for all things spring! ☺️ The Remillard siblings’ antics, and those of the lovingly nosy citizens of Sugartree, had me smiling and giggling to myself so many times. The Peeps fiasco… the cake walk… 🤣 You’ll just have to read the book to know what I’m taking about! The friends-to-lovers romance was so cute and perfectly swoon-worthy. Those Lovett boys sure know how to steal your heart (though I’ve gotta say, the littlest Lovett, Theo, is my new favorite—soooo precious!). I loved Griffin and Caroline’s banter and silly, flirty text message threads. And I absolutely adored their happily ever after—which just might surprise you in how it plays out. 🤫
If you’re looking for a fun, faith-filled, springtime romance to kick start this beautiful season, this is it!
**I received an advanced copy of this book from the author for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**
I love everything B.R. Goodwin writes, and this is no exception. A hilarious, wholesome, banter-filled Christian romcom that will give you the warm fuzzies. It follows the second sister, Caroline, and the back and forth in the texting chapters is just perfect. You feel like a part of the Remillard family, and I wish I could be part of their shenanigans. It's definitely a feel-good story, but still shares the gospel the characters' speech but also their actions. I also love that Georgia and Lake and the rest of the Southern Snow characters are still involved. I'm so excited to keep reading about Dakota and Ginny in the next books!
If you haven't already read her Southern Snow (the first in this sibling series), you don't absolutely have to to enjoy this one...but it is definitely better knowing all the goodness of the first book.
Honeysuckle Breeze is the second book in the Sugartree Romance series. While reading the first book might give you a little bit better idea of the family dynamics, I do believe this could be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well. (That said, book one was great, and I'd still highly recommend it as well.)
Oh my goodness, this was such a sweet read. This story focuses on Caroline and Griffin's story. After sharing a Christmas kiss, Griffin disappears without a word... until he shows back up to town a few months later-- his son Theo being the newest kid in Caroline's kindergarten class. I loved how this story was broken into two alternating time frames--- but not in your typical manner. It's broken down to before the kiss... and after. I loved seeing the pre-kiss text exchanges, the everchanging phone nicknames and just how the dynamic changed between the two of them throughout the story. I couldn't get enough of the two of them... or Theo!
This story was truly the perfect blend of smalltown and family shenanigans to keep me laughing out loud with sweet romantic moments all with a great message of faith throughout... and I just adored everything about it. Seeing the other siblings' and hints at what could be coming in their respective stories also has me looking forward to the rest of the series even more... I cannot wait to spend more time with the whole crazy bunch!
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
I am in love with this series and with this family. This is a follow-up to Southern Snow, and this time, we are following Caroline. She's such a ray of sunshine and sass, and you can't help but like her. She is trying her hardest to protect her heart from disappointment again when Griffin comes back into her life after months of silence. Griffin has come back to his hometown to help his brother with wedding plans but also to win back his best friend. He admits his mistakes and isn't afraid to fight for what he wants, which sometimes results in glittery messes and chaos from peep marshmallows.
This adorable rom-com is full of laugh-out loud moments, swoony romance and also has beautiful faith elements. Not only do I recommend this book, I recommend this series, and this author highly.
I was given a complimentary copy but my thoughts and opinions are my own
So stinkin’ adorable. I loved the text banter, the consistent pursuit, the adorable Theo, and the nicknames. The faith content isn’t buried, and the characters both share a recognition of Christ’s sacrifice for their lives. Swoony moments, hilarious exchanges, family for fun and loyalty… an absolute delight to read.
Okay when I wrote my review I rated this a 4.5 stars but I have NOT stopped thinking about this book since I read it every single day! SO AT LEAST A 5 STARS READ NOW! I'M OBSESSED 🍯I'm a teacher and she's a teacher so absolutely LOVED that! Any scene where it described her classroom or her interactions with the kiddos was so sweet, cute, and relatable 🫶🏻 🐝No spice 🍯Very Christian book (LOVE!) 🐝They go to the same church🥰 🍯No cussing 🐝He falls first but won't tell her 🍯He knows her like the back of his hand, he's a simp basically 🐝Their TEXT MESSAGES had me swooning and rolling 🍯Food fight 🍰🧁 🐝He volunteers in her classroom! 🍯Single dad trope 🐝THE ENDING ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! 🍯Best friends to lovers 🐝He is persistent to see her and be with her💕 🍯Banana moonpies YUM 🐝He calls her Honey and Darlin' 🙌🙊 🍯Would you rather game🥰 🐝His contact names in her phone 😂 🍯A new song for your playlist with every new chapter title! 🐝Lavender Lattes 💜
"Not just Theo. He IS a miracle. But my life is a miracle, too. I know I'm not worthy....but Jesus, redeemed and made new....Only in Him am I found worthy."
"And stop coming to my classroom every day." He shook his head, clicking his tongue. "Man, wish I could but my kid is in your class, and...." He titled his head just so, "we both kind of have a thing for his teacher." 😍
Caroline and Griffin were best friends until something happened. He leaned.
Caroline is now the new kindergarten teacher. One day Griffin comes back for good. Not only that but his adorable son is in Caroline's class. Griffin tries to win back Caroline and not only fix their friendship but maybe something more.
Even better... we get to see Gus and Theo again. (if you don't know who these are, please go read Southern Snow the first in the series.)
Caroline and Griffin are my favorite couple out of the four. I love how Goodwin uses texts as the flashbacks we need to see how the relationship built.
Honeysuckle Breeze is just the fresh, sweet treat needed to usher in spring. Unparalleled banter, an adorable sidekick and a handsome hero make this next installment in the Sugartree series irresistible. Goodwin has given readers just the right blend of colorful blossoming romance and strong faith themes, all tied up in a fragrant bouquet of laughter and light.
This book is so stinkin' sweet. I read it in one sitting. I adored Griffin and loved watching his consistent pursuit of Caroline. The banter between the friends and siblings groups was top notch. And the text messages with Caroline and Griffin were perfection. Add the faith and nosey townspeople and you've got the perfect romcom blend.
Another trip to Sugartree was just what we needed heading into this spring. The Remillard and Lovett families are ready to officially become one family as a wedding approaches. But there's some "best friend maybe more" going on between the families, too.
Sugartree comes alive in the Spring with lavender lattes, leaning, almost kisses and some "is it love or hate?" questions. You'll love this clean, uplifting, Christian romance as you pine for spring weather.
Breeze through this sweet, faith-filled, swoony rom-com

This is the darn cutest rom com I’ve ever read! I loved every second of it, from the (slightly unhinged) text threads and chaotic sibling moments to the sweet romance and deep faith themes. It was such a fun read and I definitely want to read the rest of the series soon!! My heart definitely belongs to these characters now 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Book 2 in a sweet fun faithfilled series! Caroline and her best friend, Griffin, shared a kiss.. ok not just a kiss. THE kiss as in the most amazing lifechanging kiss ever... and then, he left.. ghosted her for 3 months. But fate and a her sister's wedding bring them back together but will it be an awkward avoidance.. a friend visit.. or something more?
What could be worse than falling for your long-distance best friend? Maybe sharing the most magical Christmas kiss… and then getting ghosted.
It’s been months since Griffin walked out of Caroline’s life—until he returns to Sugartree and enrolls his son in her kindergarten class. Suddenly, avoiding him isn’t an option, and their once-easy friendship is tangled in feelings, heartache, and second chances.
I loved this book! The text exchanges, the small-town charm, the family shenanigans—it had me laughing out loud, swooning, and fully immersed. The friends-to-lovers dynamic was beautifully done, and I adored Theo (he completely stole the show!). Plus, the faith woven throughout the story felt so natural and uplifting.
B.R. Goodwin might just be my newest auto-buy author—I devoured this book and didn’t want it to end! Now, I need to read the rest of this family’s stories!
B.R. Goodwin is a lyrical mastermind. This book is everything! I was giddy throughout reading the book. Definitely recommend for this book to be in your library.
“You are the one I want to hold hands with walkin’ down Main Street, all settled into this crazy town. I want to hunt for that dang golden egg every single year with you and Theo, and dominate it together. I want to talk trash to your siblings and see your crazy competitive side.”
This. Book. This. Author.
I don’t think an author has ever become one of my auto buys as quickly as B.R. Goodwin has. The paperback of this book is on its way to be forever immortalized in a deserved place of honor on my physical favorites bookshelf.
There is only one problem with this book. You absolutely CANNOT read this in proximity of anyone else. I learned the hard way that are several scenes (one involving a town wide cake walk) that will have you ugly snorting in laughter and have your husbands questioning your sanity.
Honeysuckle Breeze is more than a hilarious sweet romance though. It is the definition of achingly beautiful. I love Caroline learning how to let go of the past and move forward in love and forgiveness. I love Griffin humbly learning from his mistakes and setting not only book boyfriend goals, but also dad goals in how he supports Theo. I love the family bonds that are depicted in this book and I especially love Dakota’s relentless protectiveness of his sisters.
There is truly nothing that you will not love about this book. Add Goodwin to your auto buy author list. You won’t regret it.

I received a ARC copy of this boook. I absolutely love this book Griffin and Caroline are absolutely the sweetest. I love their banter and their would you rather questions This series is so sweet I can’t wait for more of this series. #peeps #sparkles
I am loving this series so much! This one was great. Griffin was a lot of fun and their friendship-to-more was so sweet! I loved reading all of the text conversations and him bringing her moon pies. The sibling relationships were awesome too! I am really looking forward to book 3!

We cannot go on living in the shadow of our former selves. Second Corinthians 5:17 says, ‘If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation.
Suddenly, Griffin’s hand was on her chin, turning her head to face him. “I feel like I’m missing the sun, Caroline. So much so that I’m not sure I’ll ever just sit in its warmth and soak it up again. The last few months… Missing you…” He released a long, deep breath. “I’m missing the sun.”
Honeysuckle Breeze is the second book in the Sugartree series and follows Caroline and Griffin who we both already met in book 1, Southern Snow.
Even though I have to admit I liked the main characters Georgia and Lakeland a bit more than Caroline and Griffin, I actually liked this second book even more than the first. Maybe because I already knew most of the characters and it was easy getting into the story, maybe because the faith messages spoke to me personally even more.
Whatever the reason, I really enjoyed this book and there’s a lot to love about it.
Like in the first book we have every now and then a chapter from before the main timeline. This time these ‘throwback’ chapters are all written in text messages between the two main characters and I love it!. I usually am a fan of text messages in books and this book is no exception, since it’s done really well and we not only get to know both main characters very well, but we also see how their relationship was before ‘the incident’ and the text strings are oftentimes really really funny. These chapters were one of my favorite things about this book because they made me laugh and were simultaneously sometimes pretty deep.
I said I liked Georgia and Lakeland a bit more, but I still liked Caroline and Griffin a lot. It was a bit confusing at first to see how their relationship was before “the incident” and how and when it developed, but we get there. And I have to say I don’t consider their relationship a platonic friendship at any point. Griffin is way too flirty (which Caroline comments on at least twice) and Caroline was attracted to him from the beginning. This is actually the only part I didn’t like too much about the book, because what Griffin said to Caroline and what she thought about him while both were pretending to only be best friends made me a bit uncomfortable. Even though this situation turned out with the perfect result I think as Christians we should be extra cautious not leading people on and if Griffin would have really only wanted to be friends, while Caroline was in love with him and encouraged by his incessant flirting, this could have ended in serious heartbreak.
But it gladly didn’t with these two and when Griffin came back after the ghosting and did like everything he could for Caroline it should have been obvious even to her that all his flirting and “the incident” could only mean one thing. So even though I liked sweet Caroline a lot, I wanted to shake her sometimes, because she was so adamant on not letting Griffin apologize or more importantly explain why he ghosted her after “the incident”. And while I do think he did wrong and it was a cowardly thing to do, Caroline acted even more childish in ignoring everything that could be without even talking to Griffin.
So we have a mildly infuriating (but still very entertaining) back and forth between the two main characters where EVERYBODY can see what is going on - and a lot of people, including both mothers, comment on it, which I find completely inappropriate but what kind of is part of the charm of their families - and Caroline is too chicken to acknowledge it.
But it’s easy to talk, since I do know what will eventually happen as a reader of a sweet romcom. I actually do get why they both were scared and behaved a little immature and after his ghosting mistake Griffin does everything to make up for it, which is very sweet and thoughtful.
There are also all the great side characters. We get to see how Georgia’s and Lakeland’s relationship evolved and get glimpses of what is to come (can’t wait for book 3!!) and of course there are Gus and Theo.
Like in book 1 we have a lot of funny scenes and very loveable characters, but most importantly the faith messages stay very strong. There is one scene that spoke very deeply to me on a personal level and I see and feel throughout the books the author’s and therefore the character’s faith. It’s amazing to me how a pretty lighthearted romcom can convey such serious and important truths and I am certain that if you’re open to God’s word this book will speak to you. It certainly did to me.
I loved this book and recommend the series wholeheartedly!
* Thank you to the author for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I leave this review voluntarily and the expressed opinions are my own.
Honeysuckle Breeze by B R Goodwin is such a sweet cozy romance. I absolutely loved the messages of forgiveness and not living in past mistakes. I loved the siblings, their bond, and the humor throughout. There were so many little things and scenes I loved and enjoyed but to share would reveal too much about the book. 😉
Caroline has been hurt deeply by Griffin and now that he is back in town and enrolling his son in her kindergarten class she must face the hurt everyday. I appreciated that Caroline had friends and family that spoke truth to her and reminded her how we as Christians have been forgiven so much more than we deserve and have been called to do the same.
Griffin learns to deal with his past mistakes and move forward with new life in Christ. For me at times it felt he was a little arrogant or overconfident in some of his flirting. But I found the way he single-mindedly pursued Caroline very swoony. His son, Theo is adorable. And of course there is a cameo of Gus the cat. 😻 And those epilogues! Oh my stars! 😍
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from the author. No positive review was required. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
B.R. Goodwin does it again with the best small town romance series I've ever read. If you loved Georgia and Lake's story from book #1, you're going to fall even more in love with Caroline and Griffin. Everything about this book brought me so much joy. From the best friends to lovers love story, to sweet little Theo and all of the other "Honeybees", to a message that points us straight back to Christ; I wouldn't have changed a single thing. I love the back and forth between the text message chapters and the present. Griffin will win you over in no time, and it's pretty impossible not to love love Miss "Carowine", I mean Miss Remillard 😉 Immerse yourself in the small town of Sugartree yet again for this Christ centered Spring time love story complete with banana Moon Pies, karaoke, peeps, and of course the NOT spoiled Remillard family cat, Gus. I absolutely can not wait to see what B.R. Goodwin has in store for the final two Remillard siblings 🤍
Honeysuckle Breeze was a delightful mixture of humor, family relationships, romance and biblical truth. This book has that authentic small southern town feeling with gloriously eccentric side characters that make you laugh out loud.
It charms with every day shenanigans, relatable characters and humor that allows you to forget the world for just a few hours. The fun little glimpses into the main character’s past given via text messages as well as the running movie references are a great addition. The author does a wonderful job of piquing the reader’s interest for future books with the inclusion of key scenes centered around the other Remillard siblings. I have questions and that’s a great thing.
I am really looking forward to more from this author!
I really struggled most of the book to like Griffin as a character. He gave so many mixed signals and at every turn he refused to respect the few boundaries that Caroline established, and acted as if his behavior was no big deal. It felt like him caring more about how he felt than she felt.
It was also frustrating to me that Caroline didn’t speak up and address things to set boundaries with him more when he did outside of the one event. Just because you forgive someone doesn’t mean God calls us to go out of our way to accommodate them and let them dictate the relationship. It was a lot of lack of healthy boundaries and self preservation/protection here that really bothered me.
However, loved the references to While You Were Sleeping. Iconic movie.
We follow Griffin and Caroline, who knew each other in high school and became best friends a few years later when their siblings started dating.
While Griffin is home visiting family for the holidays, he kisses Caroline and then ghosts her. We get to watch them try to find their way back to each other once that line has been crossed.
I love the writing style and the feelings invoked by the storytelling. There is so much humor and genuine feelings of love between these two characters and their families in this story. I love this world of Sugartree, Georgia and cannot get enough!
