Enid Mary Blyton (1897–1968) was an English author of children's books.
Born in South London, Blyton was the eldest of three children, and showed an early interest in music and reading. She was educated at St. Christopher's School, Beckenham, and - having decided not to pursue her music - at Ipswich High School, where she trained as a kindergarten teacher. She taught for five years before her 1924 marriage to editor Hugh Pollock, with whom she had two daughters. This marriage ended in divorce, and Blyton remarried in 1943, to surgeon Kenneth Fraser Darrell Waters. She died in 1968, one year after her second husband.
Blyton was a prolific author of children's books, who penned an estimated 800 books over about 40 years. Her stories were often either children's adventure and mystery stories, or fantasies involving magic. Notable series include: The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, Noddy, The Wishing Chair, Mallory Towers, and St. Clare's.
According to the Index Translationum, Blyton was the fifth most popular author in the world in 2007, coming after Lenin but ahead of Shakespeare.

This book is a collection of 30 fascinating stories and as you may have already guessed from the title – the stories revolve around magic and mischief!
These tales are quite spooky too and everything is mish mashed !
The sly, naughty cat offers the moon to a foolish dog!
There’s a boy named Willie who doesn’t take care of his dog, Tinker, and so the boy is taken to a court for trial and turned into a dog to face the same treatment that he gave to Tinker!
All the stories in the book are very interesting and intriguing and I loved them as I could just get lost in my world of imagination!! I could actually imagine these characters and settings. Also I loved the names of the stories – Tell Tale , The Most Peculiar Knocker, The Whispering Pool, Fiddle De Dee’s Spell – to name a few. But my favourite title is Twinkle Gets Into Mischief because my sister's nickname is Twinkle and she is very naughty!!
I loved all the stories in this book as it has two fun and cool themes which are my preferred genre!

A nice magical collection of short stories by the great Enid Blyton. Even if the cover and the title reminds to Halloween season, there are no direct reference to the spooky season. There are a lot of pixies, fairies and gnomes stories, they are all funny and lovely but not even a little bit scary or in the mood for the spookiest month of the year. Some special mentions: I do like very much "The wrong side of the bed", "The talking shoes", "The inquisitive hedgehog" and "Peter Penny".

Read this for the first time recently and the stories are an absolute treat. They are full of whimsy, magic and childhood imaginings. Perfect as light reading to help us adults escape into a world of fairies, gnomes and wizards and forget about the real world for a bit.

This book took me a long time to finish! I think because they were smaller short stories so tended to read one at a time.

I enjoyed reading this. I read it to my niece as bedtime stories. The length of the stories was good for the purpose.

This collection of stories is funny and full of magic and mischief. You will find characters so naughty and when you find these naughty characters you never know where they end up. Every naughty character will be taught a very funny lesson. Sometimes you will find witches trapping children and children flying on broomsticks!
Overall, I liked it since it was well-written and funny. The author's description of the character's nature is very visual. It will be so funny if you mimic some of them! Some characters get fooled so easily by a magic button! I would recommend this to anyone who likes magic and mischief. Mischief Makers, I think you should not be naughty anymore after you read this book!

Some of the stories were not original, like there's a retelling of Aladdin and the one about capturing the moon's reflection in a pail of water.
