Baller's Surprise Baby

Rate this book
Running into my best friend’s brother would normally be fine…if I wasn’t actually running… and if he wasn’t fully naked …and if I hadn’t landed with my hand on his very erect member!

When I’m hired as a photographer for a sports documentary I’m mortified to be working with Ryder Jones, the NBA star I’ve known since I was a kid and who I practically molested just five minutes ago.
It’s official. He’ll never be in the friend zone again.

Now I’m working with a man that I can’t stop fantasizing about.
But one night in a shared hotel room changes everything.
Or so I think, until I wake up alone.

Months later Ryder shows up to a wedding where I’m the pregnant bridesmaid,
and I find there’s only so much a bouquet can hide!

DNF

Story opens to Hero & OW having sex while heroine crashes into them and lands her hand on his d**k while he is erect because of OW.

Why do we need these scenes in fictional romances????

Baller's Surprise Baby de Lola Dean

Argumento:

Your little sister’s best friend grew up in the two years since you saw her last. Not to mention, seeing her for the first time out of the eyesight of the family and being around said little sister gave him a whole new perspective. However, the way that Everly makes an entrance is by flying into the locker room. Oops! Wrong room. It pissed Ryder Jones off it normally might not have, and if it was anyone else he might have laughed it off. That it was Everly who tumbled in knocking, into not only him but Maddie the model, yikes. Especially when she was getting ready to do the wild thing with him.

It didn't have anything to do with them getting ready to do anything it had more to do with it being Everly who walked in on them. Everly was always around him growing up. Although he’s all grown up now. She is beautiful. Why is she even there in his territory in (team) house? So many questions and oh such a scene he makes trying to get her fired. This is a case of second-chance love plus-sized. He messes up so many times in this book, but he knows what it’s like to be truly miserable. Because before he got her to be his one-and-done. Then, two weeks and done he had never been a couple. For him, she felt like home.

But, from their night in Phoenix, she came away with a constellation prize while he be trippin' on his way to LA to hit, the court runnin’ for the game. While she took the private jet alone she could have fueled it on anger alone. Ryder ran scared and rented a car. Seeking relationship advice from his friend on the team about dating and apologizing. Because he was catching feelings for Curves aka Everly. So starts being together and then break the up. Road to failure. Then something happens at work that he inadvertently caused. Dun-dun- dun

This was a very good book. I could relate to Everly. We were one step away, from getting our last two fully raised when I gave birth to our natural child after adopting three. My freakout meter went off just like Everly’s did. Here I raised three, but starting from scratch was terrifying. Because when you come from a dysfunctional background, you’d like to think you are breaking the cycle. If this one has or causes major issues, then that’s on us. Like I said, freak out.

The opening chapter is hilarious. Everly (FMC) is a photographer who is hired to work on a sports documentary about the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. Everly is late for the photo shoot and in her rush, she ends up in a tangle of body parts that had me laughing out loud. Everly is left spluttering as she sees that part of the tangle was Ryder, the brother of Everly’s long-time best friend Rachel. They haven’t seen each other in two years and this surprise meeting is quite memorable!

Ryder (MMC) is an NBA star and a playboy that plays life fast and hard. Ryder and Everly have known each other since they were kids. However, their physical reaction to seeing each other again after years apart confuses Ryder, who is seeing Everly in a new light as a woman, and not just as his little sister’s best friend. Everly, on the other hand, is conflicted about seeing him again, especially since she has always felt intimidated by Ryder. They have a heated exchange while she is photographing him that results in Ryder demanding that Everly be fired from the photo shoot. Ryder becomes obsessed with Everly, and Everly is confused about her feelings about Ryder. Both characters go through a lot as the book progresses.

I enjoyed the characters in the book and getting to know more about them. Overall, this is an engaging story full of love, struggle, memories, and following your dreams. The book pulls readers in with tension, plot points, and character building. Fans of spicy, sports romance, best friend’s brother, friends to lovers, work romance, and surprise pregnancy tropes might enjoy reading this book. I know I did!

I honestly almost did not finish this story. The first several interactions with the H were so awful I really did not like him. He basically gets the h fired. I think the author tried to redeem him after he got her job back, but why would he have even acted that way with a family friend? Someone he has known for years? He came across as a total arrogant jerk, but amplified because he did it to someone who he knew was important to his sister.

About a third of the way through it is almost like he became a different man. This one I liked, and I am not sure how to reconcile him with the other version in the beginning but since I enjoyed the rest of the story I just went with it. I will say he is pretty immature throughout the story, and he is young so that is not improbable.

The story was a little uneven but there was decent romance and steam. I will read this author again.

Aside from some spelling

Aside from some spelling errors, this book was over the top sweet after Ryder finally gave in. They were adorable, and Rachel was amazing in her ability to quickly accept that her bestie was falling for her brother. They were both so good and pure with one another. The only thing missing, however, were details about Ryder. At some points, the book made him sound a little wh0rish, while others pointed out that he wasn't.
Ultimately, the cinnamon-roll man was truly a huge blessing.
There wasn't any real spice, but if you're looking for a relatively short romance, with a hint of bullying which turns into a sweetheart, second and third chances, read it.

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I loved the opening scene. It really set the story up in a great way. I loved Everly and Ryder's personalities, and I enjoyed their playful banter and interactions.

The writing really pulled me in, and allowed me to experience the characters emotions, and believe them. There was enough backstory for the characters to really bring them to life. And the side characters really helped to add to the story as well.

Reading this book has made me want to read more of Lola Dean's books in the future.

They have a night together and he sees a future with her freaks out and left but does everything to get her back. Lola Dean is a new author to me. She has created an entertaining story of finding love from unexpected places.

I will say the writer grabs the reader from the opening scene. The main characters have known each other since childhood but never romantically until a chance encounter, changes things

This book was a quick little read and was pretty decent. I liked the relationship between Everly and Ryder, and how supportive Everly's BFF was, who also happens to be Ryders sister. I love a best friends brother romance and this one was pretty good. I will say, I didn't like how Everly didn't tell Ryder about the pregnancy, and I wish that there would've been a little more drama that was better written than what we got. Overall, not a bad book!

Loved it but Wanted More

Originally, I was on the fence about this book but after getting into it, I actually really enjoyed it. My only complaints would be with the missed details and the fact that Rachel would show up in a scene, even though she didn't live in the same state, sometimes that got a little confusing. The other thing was that I wanted more between Everly and Ryder.

This is playboy, and NBA star Ryder, and his sister’s best friend Everly’s story.
This is a well written story which has family, friendships, undeniable chemistry, engaging and realistic characters, surprises, friends / lovers, and love, which leads to an entertaining and spicy page turner.

It was a cute story I liked Everly and Ryder. What I didn’t like was how they met up again. I hate when you see scenes with the MC’s having sex or about to have sex with someone who isn’t the main character. Also, confused why would a famous basketball player be posing in nude photos for a documentary? That made no sense to me.

Dual pov
No ow or om drama.
Epilogue a year out.

What a great story ❣❣❣

I'm really enjoying these books by Lola Dean. The characters are great, the story flows smoothly, doesn't get rushed at the end. But if I had to complain I would say there are quite a few typos, wrong or missing words. I find that consistently through out the few books I've read now.

Everly was hired as a photographer as a sports documentary, she was in hurry to not be late but by mistake she opened the wrong door and fell on a couple on intimate moments.
The guy was no one else than her best friend’s brother,
Ryder was a star in Dallas basketball team, when he last saw Everly she was still a teenager but now she has all the curves that every man go crazy.
He was the playboy no strings attached but Everly turned his life upside down.

This is one of a book.
When you start reading it you will not have the chance to take it off your hands until you finished.

Ok

I wasn't too into this book. I just didn't feel connected. It was a push pull with ghosting and being unsure . I didn't get a chance to know the characters together. We didn't experience the relationship. We got a glimpse and then it was gone again. It was just an ok read.
