Born Into Fire was very hard to follow, but made for a very interesting story.

Kenna is a glass worker, a budding artist who is trying to break into the creative world. She has what seems to be a unique but unrealised ability when she works glass, being able to create life-like colours and shapes.

Kenna is being pursued by a seemingly interested buyer in the form of Hadyn. He seems a little odd and a little too eager to get close to her, but she forgets all of that when she bumps into Eric whilst shopping for supplies. They share an instant connection and he seems familiar, like he is from a dream.

Kenna made for an interesting but shallow character, trying to be a strong presence but not quite getting there. Her work and the insight gathered from the art of glass blowing was what made her interesting, even though we really didn’t get to see much of how she worked.

Eric or Erion as he is referred to mainly is an Air Element. He commands the winds and the air around him when he transforms into air. Erion is somewhat of a mate to Kenna, drawn to her and the heat of her Fire Element. Erion is interesting, he is perfect in many ways, his quiet, protective nature being the main draw point and yet he can be so infuriating in others. In trying to protect Kenna from himself he runs, leaving her confused and vulnerable.

Born Into Fire has an amazing storyline, the idea of people turning into elements when they reach a certain point in their lives is definitely something I haven’t come across before. But it was very hard to understand until right at the end of Born Into Fire exactly what Erion and Kenna were. The descriptions for me were completely overlooked, and what details were given was choppy and under-developed. It was very hard for me to form a picture in my head of what was actually going on.

Born Into Fire also had a lot of sex-breaks. Yes it is an erotic novel, and yes those sex breaks were extremely hot, but Kenna and Erion seemed to be getting down and doing the dirty at really odd times, like right in the middle of a battle with an evil Fire Element, or in the middle of Kenna blowing molten glass. Sure their sex produced more power but sometimes it almost seemed uncalled for and extremely repetitive in their actions and feelings.

Born Into Fire was a very interesting read for me, and although it was hard to follow at first, now that I am up to speed on who and what everybody is, I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the Shadow Elements series.

Interesting & Creative!

What a creative world these two authors have created. The element world in this story was very interesting as the Drakaura (Watchtower Lords/Sentinel Dragon shifters) police its own kind - Judge, jury, and executioners; they enforced their own brand of justice on the Element champions. This wasn’t a fast paced story but it was so interesting learning about the element shifters and their world of existence and where they originated from. My rating is 3.5 stars but rounding to a 4 star rating.

The story grabs your interest immediately as the sexy Air Element “Erion” finds him uncontrollably attracted to Kenna a glass blower who was about to come into her change and become the element shifter Fire or rather “Fiera”. But Erion wasn’t the only element attracted to her as his competition “Hayden the fire element” not only wanted her sexually but he wanted to consume her fire by killing her to make himself stronger and more powerful.

The magical erotic scenes between the air element Erion and Kenna is extremely hot, one of the best sex scenes I have read as Erion rams Kenna from behind while she works to create a glass phallus. Once the phallus is made he then takes it and uses it to impale her channel fast and deep as he uses his talented mouth and tongue on her in all the sensitive places a woman loves. To top it off, add the elemental features of their powers to the act and then you have a mystical swirl of fire and air that heats the room up and sparks start flying as the mating ritual begins.

Even though I have given this a 3.5 to 4 star rating, the story has the making of a fantastic series to be written. The ending was a fair happy ending for me but it left a lot of other questions unanswered and left me wanting to know more about the elements world, Ghen the Void, the wizard Siusaidh, Ryalda or Shadows, and Drakauara. Now that I have been introduced to this elemental world I can hardly wait to read the next book to learn more about it.

Good Read!

The last few sentences made me think, dangit, yet another book that makes me itch for a sequel! Then I looked at the publication date and now I wonder if there will be a next episode. So I can read what will happen to Erion and Fiera, or Eric and Kenna. Not to forget Airiana and her yet unclear piece in this fantastic puzzle of dragons, elements and humans in lust and love. It was a pleasure to read, in every sense of the word.

My computer screen fogged up reading Born into Fire. The equal amounts of fantasy and erotica by the duo of Kyann Waters and Tarah Scott was fantastic! Erion and Kenna were hot together. I so hope there are more of this books!

Kyann Waters and Tarah Scott spin very entertaining and interesting tale in an alternate reality with "Born into Fire." It's a world where humans remain blissfully unaware of the existence of the Ryalda. Humans that are also Elements, brought into their power through the Giris, a sexual awakening of sorts. Always watchful, protecting the Human world from those Elements and Shadows that would use their powers to do harm. The Sentinals lurk in the shadows, ready to act only when necessary.

Kenna Lang is one of the blissfully ignorant. A glass blowing artist, she has always had an affinity for fire and dreams of drawing life in her art the Drakaura. A dragon-type race that she has dreamed about since a child. Kenne will not remain ignorant much longer; she contains within her a fire element on the cusp of maturity. Erion, a centuries old Air Element, has found himself drawn to Kenna, to her inner fire andher sensual body. Unfortunately, Erion is not the only Elemental drawn to Kenna's emerging power; another Fire Element, Hadyn Stiles, also wants Kenna, but his motives are far darker.

Kenna and Erion from page one have electric sexual chemistry. I found the scenes to be stimulating, though not scorching (unfortunate since we're talking about a Fire Element here). Kenna's character was witty and strong, but sometimes too shallow for my taste. Erion is also strong, but tortured by his past, torn about his present, and unsure of his future. I found him occasionally immature in his depiction for a centuries old Elemental, but overall entertaining. The only really irritating part for me was the incessant puns about fire, heat, and rods near the beginning of the book. Those quickly lost their appeal, at the rest of the book was largely free of them. The first few were fun, but they quickly grew tiresome for me.

The world of "Born into Fire" is an engrossing, believable world in which consistency is blessedly present throughout much of the book. There were a few occasions, where I found myself having difficulty reconciling the description of the scene as it played out. Then with the description of the aftermath, Kenna is baffle in these instances. I would like to have had more explanation from the authors about how or why events happened as they did, but these instances had been glossed over in the book. I also became very confused, at one point in the book. When the Sentinals were explaining how/why the Elements came into the world. Where they go when they are no more. (It could have been me being dense for some reason, or that it is really that complicated to explain. I'm not sure).

Overall I found this book entertaining and it involved my imagination and intellect, which I very much enjoyed. The chemistry between the leads was good, the scenes well-written. I look forward to reading more about some of other characters mentioned in the book. (Such as Kenna's brother Jared) and learning more about the world of the Ryalda, Drakaura, and Ghen (the void beyond the human realm).

Born into Fire is a decent fantasy tale about Kenna an Elemental who has not discovered her potential; Erion, an Air Elemental who feels that Kenna is his mate. Erion discovers Kenna as she about to come into her power, and worries that it is only her potential that attracts him; Since Elements can absorb each other as they gain their true forms. However, he soon realizes she is his mate… and discovers a rogue Elemental who wants to absorb Kenna's power evilly.

Kenna and Erion then battle to bring her into her power and mate. The obstacles they face along the way make the book interesting.

I had a difficult time getting into this book, partly because I felt some of the obstacles contrived. (Erion's worry that he'd hurt Kenna felt false in many ways), and because it had a very slow beginning. Once I got past the beginning, however, the story picked up and it was fun. The ending left open-ended, and I would enjoy reading a sequel! This tale gets three and a half Divas only because of the slow beginning.

It seems like it can be a good story, but there wasn't enough prolog to get you into the story in the beginning.Just when you really start to understand, what is happening the story is over and leaves you mad because it was too quick! It was very confusing the first quarter of the book.

There are a lot of different characters in this story and not enough information earlier enough to understand all the players. I think the idea of elements is a new concept and could be an incredible series.

It is a completely new world. Something different from anything else I have read before I hope the authors gives much more meat! I wonder if Erion and Kenna would have a child would that child eventually be an element? Does Erion get his element back? Do they find Arianna? Too many questions left open.

What would you do if you discovered you were more than human?

Artist Kenna Lang is a glass blower, ready to share her creations with the world. The deadline for her first big show approaches, and she pushes her creative ingenuity to the limits. The dragons of her childhood dreams are the centerpieces of her exhibit. Each one takes form under her fingertips, the shape and contour guided by her instinctive talent.

Despite her insecurities over their unusual characteristics, other collectors are interested in her work. Especially Hayden Stiles. He's rich, gorgeous, and totally into her—not just her work. Though she appreciates the interest (who wouldn't, right?), he doesn't put the heat in her furnace.

Everything changes when Kenna meets Eric Gray, another private collector. She's drawn to him immediately. His sexy, penetrating gaze compels her to take him back to her workshop and give him a private showing—and not just of her art! Their sexual connection is beyond anything she's experienced. His cooling touch complements her raging desires in ways she is only beginning to understand.

Then things get really interesting. Kenna's able to touch glass straight from the furnace. She senses things on a psychic level she's never noticed before. But when she bursts into flames, she realizes there is definitely something different about herself—and Eric, and he has the answers she needs.

As Kenna comes to grip with her existence as a fire element, Eric Gray's link to her as an air element, and the improbability of them having any kind of relationship, Hayden Stiles reveals his own elemental nature and the fact he wants to enslave Kenna by consuming her fire.

KyAnn Waters and Tarah Scott have created a new paranormal world filled with exciting characters. Their unusual elemental abilities and sensual nature take the reader on a journey of exploration and desire that both satisfies and whets the appetite for more.

For me personally, the inclusion of finding one's soul mate and doing anything to save them made this shorter novel a thoroughly romantic delight. I can't wait for the next installment of the Shadow Elements series!

Just looking at the cover of Born into Fire and you can tell it is going to be one hot story! KyAnn Waters and Tarah Scott have done an incredible job at bringing the elements to life in this rousing fantasy romance.

I loved the connection between that of a Fire Elemental and an artistic Glass Blower as well as her being mated to an Air Elemental. What better way to heat up a raging fire, but to add some unexpected air in just the right place!

Born into Fire is a faced paced story from beginning to end and leaves the reader looking for more. I am hoping there are future stories that pick up where this one leaves you longing for more!

I love finding something different within the paranormal romance genre, Born into Fire mixes an ancient Elemental race with a race of dragon shifters in this interesting erotic romance. There is also a bit of humor too. I loved the many “blow” puns.

Kenna is a glass blower with a witty sense of humor and she lets it show with some of her many “blow” jokes. Kenna also has no clue that she is different from every other human amongst her. She is approaching her metamorphose and it has called the attention of two other Elementals. One wishes to protect her from harm and see her through her metamorphose. The other wishes to see her through her metamorphose so that he may cause her harm.

Eric has stayed away from female Elementals for many years. He is trying to ensure that he doesn’t repeat his past mistakes. Kenna’s fire calls to him and his air and he can’t help but seek her out. The moment that he sees the other Elemental and discovers his nefarious plans he feels obligated to see her safely through her metamorphose. Eric must protect her from not only the other Elemental but also himself.

The sexual attraction is high, the sex scenes are plentiful and amazingly erotic. I loved the fact that Eric and Kenna could bond sexually outside of their human form. The sex scenes are so hot that they literally melt their surroundings.

I also enjoyed the details about glass blowing as art. The authors put many interesting details about Kenna’s art/career in these pages. The details for some of her pieces of art are meticulously detailed. I could almost see some of the pieces as I was reading.

I hope that there will be another book that continues from Born into Fire. I was left with some unanswered questions. There are a couple of large gray areas for me also. I don’t want to go into too many details on this because I don’t want to let out the spoilers that it would bring to this review.

A rather interesting and unique book, which leaves the reader hungry for more - here's to hoping it gets a sequel!

Erion is an air elemental who has accidentally found his mate. But he can't have her. One, Kenna has no idea of her true nature. And two, she is a fire elemental. If they become one, she's in grave danger. Too bad his heart doesn't seem to care, and he can't stay away for long...

It was quite original, concept-wise. We've seen dragons and shapeshifters and all kinds of things in stories up till now, but it's my first time reading about elementals in human form. I really loved that concept - it reminded me of the D&D genasi race, in a way. The idea of dragons acting as some kind of law enforcers was also quite intriguing, and mixed well with the book's lore.

Speaking of lore, I rather liked the fact we got to see it through Kenna's eyes. She knew nothing about the world she truly belonged in, and we got to learn about said world right by her side, without having it dumped on us out of nowhere.

The action scenes were intense, and the stakes were raised really high. Life was not the only thing being threatened during battles - the possibility of one's will and mere existense vanishing was pretty much real. Even during the love scenes, there was the danger of an elemental losing themselves in their lovers, quite literally, dare I say.

The only thing that sort of bummed me out was that I found a plot hole that confused me - that and the ending, though I'll talk about the latter in a bit. During the mating ritual, Aiden fought Erion and Kenna winked out, right? But then, in the next chapter, she was right there by his side again. I feel like I missed something, but I don't exactly know what... As for the ending, it was expected - and a relief because I'm a sucker for happy endings - but not really... happy? I mean, yeah, they're together, but... Erion still hasn't recovered his powers. So, is he gonna be a human from now on? How does that work?

I honestly want to read more from this author, especially concerning this storyline. I want to see more about the dragons, and Marshall. I just hope we get another book coming, cause this one was awesome!

I really enjoyed Born Into Fire by KyAnn Waters and Tarah Scott. It was a unique take on shifters that take the form of elements; though I admit I have not read a lot of books that feature element shifters.

We jump right into the plot by learning about Erion and his Air Element form, and that Kenna is about to take the form of a Fire Element.

Erion frustrated me and caused the most of my confusion I think; he would ‘think’ things that obviously made sense to him but I did not understand until a little later. The frustration with him came from his reluctance to mate/merge with Kenna though I do understand his fear's.

I did like Erion though, and Kenna for that matter. They were both very intriguing characters well suited for each other in personalities.

Born Into Fire was hot and I do mean in a sexual sense. We actually start off with a pretty hot scene and Born Into Fire has no shortage of them. Sex actually seemed pretty significant in how Kenna would transform into a Fire Element, or possibly that was just because she and Erion were mates. Either way Born Into Fire is definitely not safe for work.

My biggest curiosity has to be about the Drakaura though. We only met two of them in Born Into Fire and what we learn from them, and about them in general is not much except that they are to protect the world from those like Erion and Kenna. I have to say from this book and the whole rouge Fire Element that tries to consume Kenna that they did not seem to be doing a good job. Lol But I am very curious about them.

The ending of the book left me with questions; but only ones that book two can answer! I look forward to reading more and following along with Kenna and Erion’s story.

Overall I really enjoyed Born Into Fire; it was a quick and fast paced read with sizzling sex scenes and an ending that left you wanting more. I would recommend Born Into Fire to anyone looking for a erotic paranormal fantasy read.

Born into Fire by KyAnn Waters and Tarah Scott is not part of a series but I sure would love to see more books about the characters seen in this book. It sparks my imagination. I have always loved reading about dragons.

Kenna is a glassblower who has been creating Dragons for here first show. She is a strong and witty character. She had no idea about Dragons, Elemonts, or her powers until Erion come into her life. Kenna is in grave danger because Aiden wants to enslave her. Kenna is a fire element which is understandable because of her career.

Erion is head over heels in love with Kenna. He is an air element, which commands the wind. While he has some issues about them merging elements he wants to protect her. But when Kenna needs him most he leaves her alone and confused.

The chemistry between Erion and Kenna is so hot they burn up the pages. They don’t even bother fighting the attraction. They go right after each other. The sex scenes were blistering hot. Erion and Kenna are made for each other and it’s easy to see that.

I would have loved if the book was longer than it was and more flushed out. The author seemed to rush at times through the story but that could be due to the two authors merging styles to tell this tale. Overall, this was a wonderful story. I hope to read more by these authors

Paranormal Fantasy lovers, beware! This book should definitely hit on your need to read list! I've read a few of the books offered up by this well crafted duo, but this has punched out the others in my favorite list. Welcome to the exciting world of elementals, and by exciting I mean HOT. This book starts off with an extreme chair-shifting scene that plunges you right into the action. I love it when a book starts off full throttle!
Not only are there some majorly hot sexual scenes in this book, the mythology and world-creating were phenomenal. Elementals are in a land all of their own, but these have the perfect combination of their element and a human. A blending of the species. So besides my beloved naughty demons, I think elementals have moved up on the hotness scale. Just think of what a water element could do.....

The story was unique and the scenes were well depicted. All of the ladies who have it bad for tortured heroses will have her needs fulfilled in Erion. The great thing about this story is it doesn't end with the Kenna coming into her element and discovering her true race. Oh no...this is just the beginning. This dynamic duo has opened up a realm chalked full of possiablities for other stories. I truly hope they continue on with this series. I anxiously await learning more about Fiera, Erion, and of course our mystery guest. Great Job!!

This is definitely romantic erotica. There is a lot of sex. A lot. I'd probably only be exaggerating a little to say that almost every other scene is a sex scene. For the most part, however, the sex seems pretty natural. There are a few funny parts of the story. And they did a good job of immediately making Aiden seem like a scumbag without being over the top about it. I'd say that Aiden's characterization is what stuck out the most to me. There are few things in the book that were kind of puzzling and didn't make much visual sense to me and I had a hard time figuring out. There is a point in the story where the authors describe two people "stepping out from behind the furnace" that just didn't make much sense and I couldn't picture in my head. There there is a scene where Kenna and Erion are having sex, and Erion looks up and sees that Aiden is watching them have sex and basically burning down Kenna's workshop. Instead of Aiden either a) killing them, and or b) Erion stopping to fight with him, they continue to have sex. Which was a little bit puzzling to me.

The world itself seems relatively well thought out. It's the first novel so there are a lot of questions left to be asked. But the writing was pretty good, and the characters were captivating enough.

I'd definitely give the next one a chance.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review

An interesting story, to say the least. It was a different concept and I appreciate that. However, there were times when I didn’t understand what was going on. The beginning for instance. I know he controlled air, but the passage itself was hard to grasp. I wasn’t sure that what I was visualizing in my head is what the author intended.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read, especially if you are looking for more erotica than story. While there was a plot, and it was fairly interesting, the sex heavily outweighed the story.

I suppose I am biased, however, since this novel was exactly up my alley. I love erotica, and I love stories that involve people who can control elements. Besides witches/warlocks, they are my ultimate favorite paranormals. However, if the author wasn’t skilled, I wouldn’t have enjoyed this story nearly as much. Despite the random scenes I found confusing, it was an enjoyable story.

KyAnn Waters and Tarah Scott have woven an imaginative paranormal fantasy story that weaves shape shifting dragons and elements into an erotic adventure. The titillating storyline holds your attention thru out the book. I do love the mythology the authors wove with the elementals and humans and the blending of the species. Emotional tension between all of the characters was loyalty, love, hate, and fear all used in a sharp contrast. The book did leave me with questions which hopefully will be answered in the next book.

Over all if you enjoy reading Paranormal Erotic Fantasy then you will enjoy this book.

Don't get me wrong. The story has a lot of potential, yet it is really hard to follow. TMI on the world description, yet not enough about the characters. When I'm reading a book, it's like watching a movie for me. If well described, I form a mental picture of the characters and even hear them speak in my head, they have a voice. But in this book they were blurry at most. The voices kept on changing in my head. Kenna at times would do or say something and the reaction it provoked was strong, yet it was not explained why the reaction was like that. I was feeling rushed while reading...

Received through NetGalley for an honest review.

The book is a great story but it was a little confusing in the beginning. By the end though most of it is explained. What is left is to be told in the next book.

Kenna is a fire element. But she doesn't know it yet. Eric is an air element and is drawn to Kenna. He know what she is and knows he should stay away but can't. And now because of him her element is coming out. He can either help her and risk their lives or let her be taken by another fire element that will destroy her. Can they control their elements and this insane attraction.
