Four Fabulous Stars for Tina!

As far as the ebook itself, well, it is a rapid fire fount of fundamental "Tina" facts. Written in a simple style similar to a newspaper article or early highschool level 'Report' on the subject. I did appreciate how thorough the information was, how clearly and concisely the information was presented. and would have given the hypothetical freshman highschooler an "A" grade for this report.

Hourly History offers free ebooks that can be read on Amazon in an hour or less. New ebooks are posted every Friday and are available to read through the following Sunday. Thank you, Berengaria, for puting this reading resource on my radar.

Good read

Well, this celebrity seemed to have a much better life (and end) then most of the others I read about. Not saying she didn't have her struggles, but it seems much less of a disaster lol

Nothing we don't know already.

Tina Turner - Hourly History does quick, average, skimming stories and Ms. Turner's story isn't any different. Wikipedia gives a more in-depth history. Source: My Kindle library. 3*

I was eager to read about Tina Turner's life because she was someone who understood herself and lacked a large ego. She had a fascinating life because of how she handled the ups and downs of her career and personal life.

I thought the photo selected was a poor choice. There are so many others that would have been more complimentary than the one chosen (of her sweating). One example would be the Hanes Hosiery photos.

Tina had four children (all boys). However, only three were mentioned and they had a difficult relationship over the years. I was hoping to learn more about that but the book was silent on that score. They only mentioned the death of Raymond Craig, her first, who committed suicide at age fifty-nine.

Tina or Anna Mae

This is a short book about the singer known as Tina Turner. This book covers her life from the beginning when she was known as Anna Mae from Nutbush, to her stardom as Tina Turner and she never lost sight of who she was and where she came from.

I think for such an amazing woman and singer this book should have been longer, but than it wouldn't be listed by Hourly History.

I recommend this book to others that are interested in a brief history of Tina Turner and to be fair, there is a list of references close to the last page for those that want to learn more.

Queen of Rock and Roll

Despite her rough beginning, she rose to stardom. An interesting part of this book readers will enjoy is the many things she had to juggle with: family, music career, gigs, poverty, divorce, legal battles, shows, and tours. I was glad to see that she was in Ghana, my country, to perform at a concert in 1971. A unique thing about the Queen of Rock and Roll is recovering from having lost everything at age 50.

I love these little vignettes of history. I enjoyed Tina Turner's music. I would not say that I was a diehard fan but I definitely appreciated her grind. I was saddened to hear of her health challenges and eventual passing. I ma thankful that her legacy lives on. The story tracks well with what I have read before in a concise manner. If only history books read like this when I was in school.

I am a fan of Tina Turner’s music and find her life very inspirational. The book captures her resilient personality. I wish there were a couple of paragraphs about her tumultuous relationship with Ike Turner and particularly the way they split up. I had seen the movie about her years ago and remember it being a turning point in her life.

The was a concise and enjoyable read.

The girl from Nutbush

It was 1997 and my mother (66), wife (33), and daughter then four had never been to a concert. Tina was playing at the Milwaukee Summer Festival. You could not have found a performance to cross the age difference.

Tina Turner was a force to be reckoned with…

I was fortunate enough to have seen Tina live a number of times in my life and every single one of them was truly memorable. A fond salute to a wonderful person and entertainer. May the Lord Bless you…

I would have liked a more in-depth look into her life. Asin, less Ike and more Tina. She seemed like an amazing woman.

This was a short interesting story about Tina Turner's life. I enjoyed it since it had information new to me. I learned that Ike Turner, her former husband named her Tina Turner and had the name trademarked. After they ended up in court and she was allowed to use the name, overturning the trademark.
