I Wish and I Will was a story of three generations of strong women dealing with a sudden death in their family. A daughter who transfigured her sadness into anger at her mom who she blames for the death, a mother who was unable to reach past her daughter's wall, and a grandma trying to bridge the gap between the two. Through grandma's artful stories built with her experience in teaching children, we join the three women as they use the morals of the stories to jump the hurdles in their life one at a time. Just like the daughter, we eagerly wait for the next story.

I would like to end this review by sharing an anecdote by Mr. Janakiram (character name) in Story 12 titled “I Wish & I Will” when he’s asked if he would like to give any advice to young aspiring entrepreneurs to which he replies as follows - Life is a journey marked by milestones. You cross one and go after another. It is the hunger that drives you, not the satiation of a full stomach. So retain the hunger and stay hungry.
Successful entrepreneurs value both dreams and action. There are no genies in a bottle that can grant our wishes. We need to plan, prepare, and act accordingly.

While literature is all about inducing pleasure and happiness, there are times when it becomes didatic. This means that it has the power to deeply influence people's attitude and perspective. A good literary piece can bring immense virtues in people's life. They are therefore necessary and needed in every society for the act of purification.
Here the teenager Kalpana is totally devastated by her father's death and blames it to her mother or fate. Her tender and tumultuous teenage mind is unable to accept the death. She ponders deeply on it and wonders why did it had to happen to her beloved father. Here, here grandmother Bhairavi comes as saviour and guide and pacifies her by telling storing of other deaths. The bitter fact that it can happen to anyone at anytime shakes her thoughts.Although she kept defending at first, she began to think deep and finally came in terms with the death. All the stories told by her Ammamma are realistic and much akin to modern life.
Here I believe that the author took a rather unhappy topic for fictional creation. Death is always gloomy and depressing. People avoid and try to stay away from such topics as it may affect their pleasures. But the author strictly emphasises that death too is a reality and one should not shut their eyes from it. Author's narration seems a bit multilayered and complex. But the way she keeps the track back to the core or Kalpana is amazing. I am in every way touched and moved by the theme of the novel. Author's experimentation with the narrative style is also remarkable.

Kalpana is a teenager who lost her father and is struggling in her personal life. Bhairavi soothingly guides her granddaughter towards a life of love, affection, and discipline.

Through the twelve heartwarming stories, Bhairavi guides and makes Kalpana understand different aspects of life. Kalpana's Amma (Bhairavi) and Kalpana agreed on a deal that Amma would write a story dealing with Kalpana's issues in her life and she would tell her what she learned from the story.

I loved the innovative way in which the author presented the stories. I actually liked all of them, but some of my favourites from the book are - Got you!, The new beginning, The wishious cycle and, I wish and I will. The book teaches us to value the path we take and to feel happy while chasing our dreams. It encourages us to appreciate the journey instead of just focusing on the end goal.

For twelve nights, Grandma Bhairavi, who is wise and caring, told stories from this book to her teenage granddaughter, Kalpana. Kalpana was going through a tough time because she lost someone very important in her life. Grandma Bhairavi hopes these stories will help Kalpana feel better and cope with her sadness.

It shows how having both skills and a strong wish are really important. It highlights how being good at something and wanting it badly can lead to success.

It gives answers to questions we're unsure about and motivates us to become better individuals. Moreover, it teaches us to respect and value other people more.

Some reads are like a mirror showing someone's experiences and journey like the one you are living.

And when it comes to stories that hold the power to enlighten your journey, then this could be the best possible compilation of stories that will firm your belief on dreams do come true.

So it's time to embark on a journey that has multiple stories each penned with perfection and clarity of thought that broadens one's understanding of life and the events that define the same.

Although each story has something to add to our own experience, when it comes to picking one; I'll choose 'A New Beginning'.

Pure, gentle yet empowering read that will diversify your thought process for the better.

Our grandparents always have the solution to our worries. They always know how to make us smile in the most toughest situations. We all remember how they told us about those dreamy stories that we all used to love and would wait impatiently to listen to all those stories.

In this book, you would witness some interesting stories as a conversation between the grandmother Bhairavi and her granddaughter Kalpana. Through the love that the grandmother would pour in her stories, Kalpana would learn about the amazing truth about wishes and how they make our lives magical in their own way.

I had such a great time reading this book and I hope that my fellow readers would feel the same.
