I had hoped to attend my high school reunion with a fancy job and a polished man on my arm, every bit the success my hometown had predicted me to be.
But plans never go as, well, planned.
Also unplanned was running into a hot, prickly mechanic on my first day back in Sapphire Creek.
Austin Kyle sure knows how to work a flannel shirt.
Based on the way the brooding man argues with me over an apple pie, it’s safe to say he doesn’t like me.
Call it the former homecoming queen in me, but I need the veiny-forearmed grump to like me. I have a week to change his mind before I return home to the city.
Before I know it, Austin’s occupying all my thoughts. I’m singing karaoke, bringing him coffees at his garage, and doing anything else I can think of to win him over.
And it works—a little too well.
One moment we’re arguing over who’s more stubborn, and the next, we’re crawling into his truck bed, a tangled mess of eager hands and bruising kisses.
It’s not long before Austin’s charming his way into my heart, but this thing between us is only temporary.
From the start, he’s warned me we wouldn’t have a storybook ending.
Maybe I should’ve listened.
**The Charm of You is the first book in the Sapphire Creek series, where grumpy meets sunshine and one homecoming leads to happily ever after. This full-length romance contains banter, explosive chemistry, and ooey-gooey feels, plus enough steam to make you blush.

Very hallmark-y. The homecoming queen comes back to town after 10 years because she got fired from her prestigious job in NY. She left her boyfriend hanging with an "I need time to think" response after he proposed to her. Then, when she got to town, she met the grumpy mechanic, who apparently had a crush on her when they were in high school but didn't know his existence. Oh, and he also just ended his years-long situationship. What an awesome timing, right?
Anyway, I'm going to put this on hold. I'm not in the mood to read a story where there could be a high chance of emotional cheating since she didn't really break things off with her boyfriend. 🤷♀️

Southern sunshine sweetheart and grumpy man, count me in. Sadly I wasn’t head over heels for this story. The characters felt a bit flat to me and there was a lot of interaction without actual interaction, if that makes sense
You will absolutely fall in love with this little town and all the fun quirky characters that live there!! Austin was in the shadows and invisible in high school. He wasn't known by many of his classmates but one encounter changes everything for him. Over the past 10 years, he's been putting his life on hold for his mom. He just wanted to make sure she was ok after his dad passing. This has made him skeptical and afraid of love. Oh and a grump, he's been compared to a cactus lol. The reunion has all the old classmates showing up, which means he'll see his crush, Caroline Summers. She has a great life in New York City and would never fall for a small town boy. Caroline was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. She was someone everyone knew and loved. Her life was good until her dad died. She moved to New York City, had her dream job and a great guy who seemed to love her or at least the image of her. Her life goes to shambles and she comes back home. Meeting Austin and really getting to know him changes how she sees her life and makes her question where and what she wants in life. Being back home has brought a lot of tears up and some of the past that needs to be healed. I really loved this book! All the small town feel with the meddling mothers, the friends who support and have their own issues with each other. The feeling of two broken people coming together to find love was incredible!! This book will have you falling in love with Austin and Caroline along with the town they live in. I loved every minute of this book!!
What a great read! Georgia has written a sweet but steamy story about coming home and finding your true home. This is the beginning of a new series for Georgia and I can’t wait to read more!
Caroline is the head cheerleader/homecoming queen who got out of her hometown as fast as she could. And Austin is the quiet kid that was not on anyone’s radar who never left. It’s 10 years later and time for Caroline to home. Is she ready for her hometown? Is Austin ready for her? Will she finally see him?
These are the questions I had while reading this emotional story. This is more than a sexed up Hallmark story, this one has so much heart. Do not miss out on this one, I want to be a part of this world and become friends with these people. They just seem real and that makes the story even better!!
3.5⭐ Caroline returns to her hometown for her 10 year high school reunion and it just so happens that she's been fired from her glamorous New York job. Her return home coincides with Austin's, the town mechanic, breakup of his situationship. Austin had a crush on Caroline in Hugh school and Caroline didn't know he existed. Yep, sounds like I pitched an idea for Hallmark. The joke was made in the book, but this one really did give me too strong of Hallmark vibes. There were moments that were so far fetched and Hallmarky that I laughed. This one just wasn't for me and I struggled to get through it because it was a bit boring.
Caroline is returning home to Sapphire Creek to attend her ten-year high school reunion. Austin has always harboured a secret crush on her and when these two come face to face again, the question remains, will this grumpy small-town guy finally win the heart of the bubbly homecoming queen?
This was such a delightful and charming read! Caroline and Austin are complete opposites. However, they complemented each other so well! It took me a while to warm up to Austin. However, I ended up LOVING the broody mechanic and his protective instincts for his mum!
Austin hated to want Caroline due to the past and his own insecurities. However, he couldn’t deny the attraction and pull he felt towards her. I loved watching them slowly fall for each other!
The Charm of You had plenty of laughs and so many wonderful heartfelt moments!
𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐬: ✨Small town romance ✨Grumpy x sunshine ✨City girl & small-town guy ✨Secret high school crush ✨Ten-year reunion ✨Hate to want you tension ✨Coming home ✨Rom-com feels
Small town, grumpy sunshine, meddling mothers. All three make this one a fantastic book! This is my first Georgia Coffman book, but it definitely won’t be my last! I loved the broody Austin and his protective instincts for his mom. Austin and Caroline have a quick moment in high school one that Austin can’t seem to forget, but Caroline can. Caroline has always felt the need to live up to her high school days. Coming back to her small town she just got fired and is questioning her relationship! Can this sensitive, but grumpy small town guy show the homecoming queen success isn’t always show by status?
In the beginning it was a slow burn (which I love), add the small town and grumpy/sunshine vibes made this book a page turner!! Definitely a book I would add to my TBR <3
Such a good book about two people whose lives fit so perfectly together, but they don't realize it until 10 years later. Only the way their current lives are, maybe won't leave room for a relationship to stick. Read this amazing story about one who feels like no one sees him/her and the other everyone sees him/her but not the true person.
In The Charm of You, the first book of the Sapphire Creek series, author Georgia Coffman weaves a tale of opposites attract. Set against the backdrop of a picturesque small town, the story follows the unlikely romance between a grumpy small town guy and a vivacious city girl. With a smattering of steamy scenes and plenty of heart, this novel is a perfect blend of humor and tenderness.
Caroline Summers had it all - the looks, the popularity, and the world at her feet. After leaving Sapphire Creek for the bright lights of New York City, Caroline had everything she ever wanted... until everything came crashing down. Now, a decade later, she's back for her high school reunion, trying to rebuild her life. Meanwhile, Austin Kyle, the quiet and unassuming mechanic who had always had a crush on Caroline, still lives in Sapphire Creek. During high school, he had never caught her eye, but a decade later, Austin is no longer the invisible boy he once was. As Caroline starts to take notice of him, their worlds are about to collide in ways neither of them could have ever expected.
As Austin and Caroline reconnect, they find that their shared experiences of loss and grief bring them closer together. They both have to confront the pain of losing their fathers at a young age, and they support each other through the emotional process of healing. At the same time, they both realize that their relationships with their mothers need to change, and they support each other as they navigate the difficult process of making those changes. The chemistry between Austin and Caroline is palpable, and their growing affection for each other is both sweet and passionate.
All the characters in this book are truly charming, and they will capture your heart from the very beginning. I can’t wait for Austin and Caroline’s friends to have their own story in the series. The Charm of You is a highly recommended, beautifully-written romance that captures the heart and soul of its characters.
Austin and Caroline are both complex and nuanced, and they are written with such depth and authenticity that they feel like real people. The Charm of You is a sweet, passionate, and heartfelt page-turner that will leave you feeling happy and fulfilled. It's a book that will stay with you long after you've turned the last page.
Thank you Georgia Coffman and Give Me Books PR for the ebook ARC. All opinions expressed in this review are solely my own.
Probably a 4.5 but I rounded up because it absolutely got me out of my book slump and had me immediately wanting to read the next one. This is an adorably sweet, mild angst, small town romance with a bit of grumpy/sunshine and high school crush thrown in.
First we have Caroline who was the popular girl in high school, the cheerleader, the sunshine girl who was ACTUALLY so sweet and nice to literally everyone that no one has a bad thing to say about her. While that sounds amazing, it's also hard living on a pedestal where everyone insists you succeed. She also lost her dad in high school and felt like she could never mourn him properly because no one wants to see this angelic girl act sad and mopey.
Austen wasn't well known in high school, he was the typical fade into the background and feelings bottled up kid. He also lost his dad in high school and ended up having to take care of his mother who fell into a severe depressive episode. He never had many friends and while he's sweet to the core he's crusty and grumpy on the outside even going to far as to never really having a romantic relationship because he's scared to love someone that deeply when he saw how bad off his mom was.
It's ten years later and high school reunion time. Caroline is living in NY and living her best life... until everything goes awry. Her boss fires her out of the blue despite being wildly successful, her boyfriend proposes and she can't bring herself to say yes because she thinks he loves the idea of her being perfect more than he even likes her. She's afraid to go home a failure.
Austin had a huge crush on Caroline when they were in high school, but she never noticed him. This made him resentful of her in the beginning, but in the end, Caroline was able to wear him down and make him realize that there’s more to her than he thought there was. She's actually attracted to the fact that he doesn't treat her like she's perfect and loves to snark back and forth with him.
The banter, heat, and the unrequited passion between the homecoming queen and the grumpy mechanic with a blue collar hot bod meshes perfectly with the hilarious and sweet moments that made this book really fun and enjoyable for me. I also loved both their moms and friends and look forward to the next book.

Excuse me! I wanna know why more people aren't talking about this book?! Reminds me of the 1990s romcom romy&michele's high school reunion mixed with sweet home alabama vibes but make it spicy. Like a warm home cooked meal, then get good and f*cked after. Whoops, did i say that?! It's like coming back to your hometown after years away and finally feeling like you can breathe, but also questioning, like, why isn't my life more put together?
Like so and so is soooo successful and okay, good for them but like some people do things on their own timeline. Okay, now im ranting. Seriously, go read the charm of you. it's cute and funny. It'll make you all giggly and possibly wet with how grumpy and broody Austin is. Yes, i said it. Thank me later 💗
The loner, Austin, who is secretly crushing on the popular cheerleader, but she doesn't notice him. It's not because she's mean or self-centered but more dealing with her own issues with the loss of her father just like Austin.
Fast forward to ten years later, and Caroline Summers is back from New York City after getting fired(no one knows yet) and running out from a possible proposal. She's back for her high school reunion.
She runs into all her old friends and some new faces too, like Austin, who she doesn't recognize, and the hatred on his side starts from there.
Can they get along while shes there, or will hate turn into more?

Caroline Summers was the popular girl, the head cheerleader and the girl everyone wanted to be around, especially Austin Kyle, but he was the shy guy, the one that flew under the radar, the one she never noticed. That is until now...
This delightfully penned romance will capture your attention the instant your eyes find the words, these two have one very entertaining story to tell. She was the "it girl" back in high school and he was the boy that avoided the limelight as much as possible, but that didn't stop him from admiring her from afar. He just never worked up the courage to make his move, but now he has a second chance. Question is will he take it? Or will she beat him to it?
Their ten year reunion is fastly approaching and Caroline isn't looking forward to going alone, she needs to live up to the expectations everyone had for her back then. When she returns to Sapphire Creek she's hoping everything will just fall into place and she can keep up her appearances, but things don't go quite as planned... she bumps into the grump mechanic and he turns her world upside down. In all the best of ways...
The Charm of You is a sweet, passionate, and heartfelt page-turner that is destined to leave your heart happy and a smile on your face. These characters will sneak up on you and steal your heart before you even know it's happening, they charmed their way into my heart almost instantly. I cannot wait for future installments in the series and see where the pages take me next! Highly recommend this one, it's one of the best first reads I have settled down this year!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Cute read from Georgia! After the death of his father and moving to a new town in high school, Austin flew under the radar and was practically invisible to his peers because he was so focused on working and taking care of his mother. He had a huge crush on Caroline, the most popular girl in school, and the one moment they had together he realized was nothing since she didn’t recognize or know him at all, and he’s harbored hard feelings for a decade because of it. Caroline did everything she sought out to do after graduating high school – moving to New York City, having a successful career, and in a happy relationship. All that blows up the week before she’s to return home for her high school reunion when she’s fired from her job, and she breaks up with her boyfriend after he proposes because she didn’t feel sparks with him and returns home with her tail between her legs and a plan to fake things before she figures out her next move. When in town, she meets Austin and is instantly attracted to him, but he is hostile towards her because of their past that she doesn’t remember. As they spend more time together, they start to develop a relationship, however always with an expiration date since he would never move to the city, and she would never move home. Thanks to fate, they get the HEA they deserve, and the mothers are so happy about it. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The Charm of You is a beautifully written, sweet, feel-good small-town romance that will pull you in right from the start. Ms. Coffman gives us two people who are opposite but have this connection that you cannot ignore. I guess the saying that opposites attract is 100% correct when it comes to Austin and Caroline. Caroline has a lot on her plate and it just so happens that it is her high school reunion and the perfect excuse to get away from the big city. Austin is the boy that nobody noticed in high school. He did have one person with whom he had an interaction with that memory has never been forgotten. That interaction was with Caroline and ever since then, he has had her in his thoughts. When they meet again there seems to be something there but what is it? Mothers get involved, feelings come to the surface and it looks like the homecoming queen is not what Austin thought she was like. Caroline and Austin's story is one of love, never giving up, and going back to your roots. Both Austin and Caroline's characters changed for the better. Austin is a grumpy guy who loves to be alone and throughout the story, he changes into a man who enjoys being with others. Caroline was the small-town girl who couldn't wait to get away. Being back home saw her realizing that maybe being the city girl is not what matters.
The Charm of You is a small, southern town romance with a slow burn that makes you ache from head to toe. The sprinkling in of some awkward southern faux pas creates the perfect angst and heart squeezing tension.
Caroline is so relatable to me. With the weight of everyone’s ambitions and hopes on her shoulders, she pushes through some of the most challenging times in her teenage years and then starts checking off those big ambition boxes. But when it all crumbles before her reunion, it gives her the opportunity to hit the reset button. Although, the thought of letting everyone down, that she’s not the shiny star everyone made her out to be practically gives her hives.
Austin, the loner, has harbored a secret crush on Caroline since high school. When the “emotionally unavailable” man bumps into Caroline and she has no idea who he is, his ego takes a blow. But Caroline is not if not determined. She’s not afraid to go toe to toe with the town grump.
Caroline’s spunky determination and her ability to look through the briar patch of Austin to see the loyal, caring man that he is deep down is pure perfection.
With a lively supporting cast of southern mommas, town busy bodies, and supportive best friends, this book is easily a 5/5 read for me. Austin’s dirty talk and bedroom prowess needs its own rating of 5/5 chili peppers.
"I’m a big fan of small town romance novels, and this book was nothing short of amazing, and I really don’t think my review will do the justice this story deserves. Austin and Caroline are both great characters to read, they are complete opposites. I felt this mainly because their high school experiences were completely different. Caroline was the popular one, whereas Austin basically went unnoticed. I liked how their story first started off as enemies to lovers after Caroline comes back to town for their high school reunion and both are a bit wary of asking for anything more especially with Caroline needing to go back to where she now lives. There is so much I want to unpack here, but I know I will only end up giving the whole storyline away. And you honestly don’t want me to do that, you just need to experience the connection between these two yourself. But then there’s also the whole small town charm of everyone all up in everyone’s business. It all just adds to make this novel so wonderful to read for me." ~Sharon
Austin and Caroline's love story was a great read. Caroline's coming home changes the trajectory of her life. The gruff, grumpy guy from her home town turns out to be her soul mate but because love isn't easy, sparks fly. Them finding love is heartwarming. ~Cindy
Have you ever picked up a book that just sucked you right in from the very first page ? That made you smile , made you laugh out loud, made you sob like a baby , pulled at your heartstrings in all the best ways and kept you rooting so freaking hard from start to finish? Well that’s exacly how I felt while reading The Charm Of You by Georgia Coffman. . There just are not enough words to express how much I simply adored Caroline and Austin .Caroline is the head cheerleader, the popular girl , everyone wants to be her friend and all the guys want to date her . Austin could not be more different her polar opposite. Extremely shy. And stays under the radar . But just like everyone else he’s complaining smitten with her . Well that’s about to change because circumstances bring them into each others orbits and Caroline is finally noticing what’s been right in front of her all along The Charm of you is a must read for anyone who is a lover of small town, second chance and grumpy sunshine romances with all the feels . It has it all angst , humor , witty banter , drama , obstacles, unexpected surprises, oh so steamy moments, heartbreaking and heartwarming ones as well , love , passion, family, friendships and so much more
“Over the course of a week, Austin Kyle charmed his way into my heart, one growl, glare, and grunt at a time.” There is nothing I love more than a grump, and Austin is the perfect grump. Austin has been living in small town Sapphire Creek for over ten years. He went to high school there and now works as a mechanic. He has a very set routine he lives by and speaks in grunts and growls. However when his high school crush comes back into town for their reunion he starts using words!
Caroline left her small town after graduation and has seemingly been living out all her dreams in NYC. Except now she is back visiting her hometown while her perfect life is crumbling down around her. But getting to know grumpy Austin has everything looking up. “I’ve spent most of the last few days insulting you. You’re telling me you like that?” “I’m funny that way.”
I loved Sapphire Creek and all the characters that live there. I need more from this town because the potential couples seems endless. Thank you @authorgeorgiacoffman for the ARC! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🔥: “We’re going to have some fun, Homecoming Queen.”
A beautiful, emotional, heartwarming and charming love story between two very different characters. Austin is the quiet, grumpy loner, and sadly the boy that no one remembered at school other than Addie who was a fantastic friend, he had such a crush on the FMC Caroline who was popular, a homecoming queen, liked by everyone and the girl who dreamt of moving to NYC as soon as school ended. Ten years later she returns home for a school reunion with secrets, her life has not panned out as everyone expected. Catching up with all her childhood friends she begins to notice a very grown up, bulked up Austin. Sparks fly, their chemistry and heat so intense. Love the push and pull of their relationship and how they chip away at each other’s insecurities and the steam? Wow, I needed a cold shower to cool down. This book contains grumpy/sunshine characters ,is written from both povs, great network of friends and family, humour, tinged with a little sadness as both characters share grief due to parental loss, a great town like Sapphire Creek and enough heat to warm us up on a chilly evening. Loved the MCs but Austin has my heart. Addie and Owen’s story is going to be a riot and I can’t wait.
I thought that “The Charm of You” by Georgia Coffman is the perfect small town romance novel, and I definitely enjoyed the read! There are two main POV characters, Caroline Summers and Austin Kyle. I thought they had some amazing chemistry, and I really loved how their relationship developed over the course of the novel!
Caroline is a big city girl who has returned to her hometown for her high school reunion. Everyone is very impressed by Caroline’s fancy life, but what the townspeople don’t know is that things aren’t as perfect as they think they are.
Austin had a huge crush on Caroline when they were in high school, but she never noticed him. This made him resentful of her in the beginning, but in the end, Caroline was able to wear him down and make him realize that there’s more to her than he thought there was.
I loved all the meddling family members and friends in this one. It added to the small town charm, and some of the banter between the characters was hilarious. I was rooting for Caroline and Austin to find happiness together the whole time. This was absolutely a 5 star read for me!
"The Charm of You" marks my first leap nto the world of Georgia Coffman's storytelling, and I can confidently say it won't be my last. Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Sapphire Creek, this novel swept me off my feet from the very first page with its heartwarming storyline and irresistible charm.
At its core, Ms Coffman's story is a slow burn that gradually builds into a blazing inferno of emotions. What sets it apart is its masterful execution of the grumpy/sunshine trope, embodied perfectly by the characters of Austin and Caroline.
Austin, the quintessential grump, and Caroline, a ray of sunshine in human form, form a captivating duo whose chemistry leaps off the page. As Caroline returns to her small hometown, she finds herself questioning everything, while Austin grapples with lingering emotions from a shared high school moment that only he seems to remember.
The dynamics between these characters are beautifully explored, adding layers of depth and complexity to their relationship which results in a story infused with genuine emotion and heartfelt moments that linger after the final page is turned.
From a tender moments of vulnerability to sparks of undeniable passion, "The Charm of You" is a rollercoaster ride of emotions that keeps readers hooked until the very end. While this may be my first encounter with MS Coffman's work, it certainly won't be my last.
I’m a big fan of small town romance novels, and this book was nothing short of amazing, and I really don’t think my review will do the justice this story deserves. I was excited to dive into this small town romance and once again Georgia blew my mind with her amazing writing and spellbinding world she has created. I could not help but fall in love with Sapphire Creek and it's residents. The complete read was an emotional whirlwind that tugged at my heart strings.
After how things start with the prologue and the first chapter I was eager to get to know both Caroline and Austin. Caroline but be down on luck but she has an amazing support system at Sapphire Creek. My heart broke for Austin and I wanted him to have someone to lean on. I loved there banter and how Caroline was relentless. The spice was off the charts and there chemistry smoking hot.
I loved how there mom's conspire and the bond they share with there kids. This read is so much more than just romance. The characters have depth which made it easier to connect to them. I loved all the secondary characters and cannot wait for there books. I hope the next one is of Addie. Thanks to Georgia for the advanced copy of this heartwarming read.
Caroline left her small town Sapphire Creek as soon as she graduated high school. Now 10 years later, she’s back for a reunion hoping to bring all her accomplishments with her but instead she’s unemployed. She also didn’t expect to run into grumpy Austin. Who seems to not want to be around her but she just can’t help notice the pull that he has on her. Austin does not want to be pulled in Caroline’s web again but the former homecoming queen is very charming. Next thing you know they’re spending more time together and having a hard time ignoring the strong chemistry between them. But she’s only in town temporarily right?
Caroline and Austin are as opposites as can be but he’s the grumpy to her sunshine. What they don’t realize is that they might have more in common than they thought. Grief sometimes bring the most unexpected people together and help fill the void they’ve been missing. When they finally gave in to the attraction between them these two are hot AF!
A small town, grumpy/sunshine filled with love, meddling friends and family, swoon and spice!
I’ve read a lot of Georgia Coffman books but in my opinion this is her best one yet! There is just something about this new world she’s created that had me hooked from the first page.
I love the nostalgic feelings in this book, of maybe being a little lost and coming home to find yourself in the town that built you. Most of all, I loved that this time, it’s the guy no one noticed in high school (turned hot grumpy mechanic) who gets the popular girl! Caroline is the kind of girl you love to hate, but it ends up being really easy to love her because of what a good person she is. My heart broke for Austin, both as a kid and an adult, and no one deserved a HEA more than he did!
Centered around a group of friends from a small town, this book has the perfect playlist and was both funny and heartwarming, with a few sad moments but the overall feeling of healing was what stood out to me the most. I’m so excited for this new series and what is coming next!
Caroline has to go back home for her 10 year high school reunion, she thought she was going with a collection of accomplishments. Yet some things fall apart before she has proof of them.
Austin has lived closed off to change and people most of his life. Living like he is less than what he could be, out of fear. Until Caroline comes back to his life, and it all gets turned upside down.
He’s grumpy and unbothered, unless someone he loves needs him. She’s lively and friendly, but hides under the shine of her looks. So they pretty much collide from the first meeting.
What an amazing story, it has all the feels! Austin and Caroline are so amazing together, the constant banter and spark between them is very obvious, and it takes a while for them to see what it really is. And it’s so much fun to watch how it developes.
The small town and its meddling habitants sure make it even more fun, and i can’t wait to read the other characters stories.
