The Fallen Angel
In the year 2233, a mysterious pulsating energy source from Antarctica leads to the discovery of a chained fallen angel deep in the icy trenches of the earth. Micah, a Commander with the Europe, Middle East & Africa Search and Rescue, is feared dead after he plummets down a shaft during this exploratory mission. Lydia refuses to believe that he’s gone and launches her own risky mission with his teammates to retrieve what might be left of the man she loves.
In secret, another dark alliance gathers with their own evil agenda. Demonic entities noticed the discovery of the fallen angel too and plan to use his powers to access an ancient, sealed scroll. Their goal is to reverse Revelation prophecies and bring about their own terrifying version of the apocalypse. Lydia finds herself in the middle of a treacherous race and an ancient battle that spans back to Day Six of Creation.
Will she find Micah alive? And will they be able to save the world from this supernatural onslaught? Only time will tell if all will be lost in the great divide between good and evil.

The world is a very different place in 2233. The Fifth World War, between Artificial Intelligence and Humanity, has come and gone; Covid is on its 55th variant, sky trains can complete a 2000km journey in 90 minutes, and the seat of the United Nations has moved to South Africa after the destruction of New York.
An unidentified energy pulse, located 3.5km below the surface of Antarctica, warrants investigation. Micah, the Commander of the Search and Rescue Team, ascends first, but technical difficulties result in a plummeting free fall leaving him trapped underground in the company of a fallen angel, imprisoned for thousands of years.
A race against time ensues above ground. Micah has limited oxygen and must be found timeously to have any chance of survival, but the team attempting the unauthorized rescue mission is being followed by some of the darkest inhabitants of the spiritual realm. Azazel and Abaddon are in the lead, but they are supported by Lucifer, Molech, Dagon, Astarte, Beelzebub, and others, with allies like a 2.75m tall Nephilim, the great hunter, Nimrod, and a group of the locust-human-horse-scorpion creatures foretold by Revelation. Their aim: to retrieve the fallen angel to reverse the prophesized outcome of Armageddon.
Christian fiction is no longer limited to feel-good stories barely concealing evangelical messages. Ted Dekker has mastered the genre of Christian thrillers, with titles like “Thr3e”, and “Blink” and Frank Peretti has joined forces with Dekker in “House” whilst flying solo with the genre of Christian horror, including well-known titles like “This Present Darkness” and “The Visitation”.
Moyo’s style reminds of these authors but is not as dark and the novel can be classified as Christian speculative fiction, even science fiction, rather than horror. Humour is effectively used to ensure that the ominous subject matter is presented in a more palatable manner, when the evil forces address one another as “nincompoops” (76) and when the arrival of certain attendants to a meeting is met with: “Don’t tell me you invited Legion! You know they always exceed our catering budget.” (61)
The choices of character names are equally entertaining. Ananias and Sapphira turn out to be deceitful and untrustworthy, and Peter, the overzealous ex-fisherman, is the first to betray when the going gets tough.
The closing is open and promises that the story is to be continued, like the technique utilized by LaHaye and Jenkins in their “Left Behind” series. Here’s to hoping that chapter two is loading.
